I think s/he can rollover maturing primary market TBill at prevailing rate. It is clearly indicated as one of the options on the TCB form. How the rollover rates are computed is what i don't know, but i guess they will use the latest bid rate if the bank is successful.
Hearing this for the first time because CBN has never come out to say that people can rollover TBs. They always conduct a fresh auction and allotment is done after the auction. So, if CBN gives the allotment amount, what will they now do with rollover amounts or what portion of the allotted amount from the auction is reserve for rollovers?. I want to believe that it is the banks that do a rollover and iam equally sure that they just allocate from their secondary market pool.

Thanks so much for this info. So how do I roll over or do I just let the funds sit in my account for almost 2 weeks before I get involved again. Please what options are available for me?
You cannot rollover because TBs are from FG and not from banks. The banks are just facilitators between you and FG. The CBN represents the FG while the banks represent you. You cannot go straight to the FG. That is why you go through the banks that go through the CBN to FG.

As to the options available to you, you either wait for the next primary auction bid in 2 weeks time or you buy from secondary market or you place the funds on a call deposit for the 2 weeks.

I really don't know what to do as my BO gave me a TB certificate that is maturing 01/02/2018. I would have thought it would mature just before or on same day as next TB. So can i roll over that particular certificate even though the auction is tomorrow. Or what is the way to go about it.

Also my BO is not responding to my calls or emails so I really cant get any information off him.

Thanks for your help.
Your BO is right. TBs matures on a Thursday while bidding is a day before i.e. Wednesday. It is the funds realized on Wednesday that is used to settle those that matured the next day of Thursday.

Thanks a lot.
I actually tried it now. He doesn't like eating, the only food he takes well now is fried egg and potato. So he was trying to open the window net, I told him to stop he ignored me. I said " I won't fry egg and potato for you again" immediately, he left the net and came closer smiling and saying mommy fry egg. Lol
The boy has been using your head to cause mischief. grin. It is always the case with first boy and mommy as per mommy's boy and then first girl and daddy as per daddy's girl.

Good day Friends on Nairaland.

Please help me with your opinion on this matter.

A friend who (boy) wants to study Civil Engineering suddenly changed his mind and decided to study Pharmacy, so he was seeking for my opinion!

So my advise for him I said, instead of you to study Pharmacy, that it's better for him to proceed to school of nursing.

Now Nairalanders, I want to know if actually I have advised him right or wrong by reasons of your own contributions.

Thank you.
Somebody changing from Civil Engineering to Pharmacy is a good change. Pharmacy any day for me over Nursing. I might be biased sha as i love Pharmacy so much.

You can also try telling him that you will deny him watching his favourite cartoons if he does not obey or if he misbehaves. You know kids and love for cartoons is something else.

I will push as much as I can without touching my business capital. Certainly there are things that can never be completed this year, like the compound floor and the water supply systems. Inside furnishings and kitchen cabinets can wait till later. The children just want to spend the first Christmas in their father's house grin
Nice one. You are too much. That was exactly what i did because my kids were so eager to see their grand parents. So i did what i could do to move in and i took them home and spent xmas and new year there. Funny enough, my mom(their grand mother) now died 3 weeks later after we came back.

As much as i believe so much in the benefits of T-Bills, this is the best time of the year to invest in real estate. The 13th month, bonuses, etcetera should be used for something tangible, hence few weeks from now you'll begin to wonder where all the cash went. I did some years ago, and today, I am better off for it.

2 plots of land are available @ Treasure Parks and Garden Phase 2, City of David Estate, SHIMAWA. I am offering 50% discount off the current market value offered by Adron Homes and Properties. Anyone interested can buy one or the 2. My contact: 07062160601.

Documents: Letter of allocation, Deed of contract, purchase receipt
Dem tell you say na everybody dey collect 13th month, bonuses, etcetera?. Go and tell Kogi and Imo state workers to come and use such to buy your lands. grin

Hi everyone, i need your advice. i'm currently a FBN fixed deposit acc holder. It is halfway to its maturity, precisely to mature first week of february. i av a mind of terminating it for a more profitable TB. If i apply for termination, how long will it take to be effected? Or i shld see FD to its maturity 3 months away from now? D FD is 180 days @ 7% on a principal well over 500k.
Just write a letter to them saying you want a pre-mature termination as some urgent pressing needs came up. If by chance your account officer decides to ask you one-on-one the real reason, just tell him/her say Landlord wan pursue you comot for him house and also dem wan pursue your kids comot for school and stop them from writing their exams. QED.

Pre-mature termination na almost immediately. Once money hit your account, just go back there or go to another branch and ask for secondary market rates of TBs.

Yes. I think it is 1% or 1.5% above savings interest rate. There are some few withdrawal conditions for interest forfeiture. You can check it out on StanbicIBTC website.

OMO and government bonds are gradually coming down.

A fall in Treasury Bills will give room to businesses to raise short term funds in form of commercial papers ,and mid term to long term borrowing through corporate bonds.

Treasury Bills crowded out borrowing to businesses.
This is what i was actually trying to say when i said company bonds. It will be easier for the banks to invest the mmf money in these commercial papers and corporate bonds than an individual. That is my thinking. I might be wrong though.

A crash in Treasury Bills will later lead to a crash in money market fund within 270 days.

More than 60% of money market funds are invested in Treasury Bills and other government fixed income investments.
I know of that possibility but iam looking at it that the banks being of a deeper pocket will be able to invest more in other fixed income investments like OMO, company and government bonds.

This is what I have been preaching to one of my colleagues. I advised him to open a stanbic mmf account. He is still foot dragging.
Even if he does not want to open a stanbic mmf account, let him open a CHESS account with them and put a constant amount there every month as a direct debit on his account if he is in paid employment. That constant debit will help him to manage his expenses. When he knows that an automatic debit alert will hit at end of the month, instead of him drinking 6 bottles, he will now drink one or two. grin
