Onuokwu: That gate house looks like an executive BQ. Na gate man go dey there or is it meant for rent?I hope the requirement to be a gate man here will not be possession of a university degree. ![]() |
Allenworld: Check out the following product from Lifemate Company, makers of furniture, lamps, sanitary ware, kitchen cabinet etc.(2) What is the makeup of (2) like in how many seaters?. (4) Is (4) really a dinning set?. It looks short. Are you guys the one on Ikosi road?. |
kingviny: HiIs this still on?. In addition what can it carry in a 3-bedroom flat?. |
Onuokwu: My broda, it is survival o. The way e be with us, it is either they do that or they starve or they sell their bodies. So i think amongst the options, this one is preferred. The situation gets worse o. I had a project last year and saw some of these "not so young women" hauling mixed concrete on their heads to the second floor and queried the contractor. He explained the options the women had which was eventually corroborated by the women themselves. I had to let them continue working. My brother that is handling my project in the village has suddenly become an enemy to some women because he did not allow them to carry concrete during the decking of the project. So clearing a small bush is a minor job for them as compared to carrying concrete. I cannot even see trees on this plot. Many women clear forest for planting of crops. Iam sure if Oga Fhemmmy had seen me as an 11-year old clearing bushes and forest, he would have been pained not knowing that i might be looking for my school fees with that once-in-a-chance opportunity. . |
Fhemmmy: Now back to the thread, would it be deemed a sexist comment if i say, it hurts my heart to see women doing those kinda hard job . . . I am sorry ahead of comments cos i am sure some people will crucify me, when i see them, i imagine if that is my mother, sister or wife . . .That is not a hard job. This is just bush clearing and it is what they do year in, year out when they want to start farming. My mother, who is a farmer in the village clears her bush by herself. So, if there is any small opportunity to make a little money by clearing 'another bush', she will do it. It is the digging that is done by men. |
Allenworld: You cannot live in a house and work in an office that has a topnotch quality home and office furniture, sleep on a luxurious bed like the one below and worry about bad dream or prolong stress from work because these goods will provide the confort to cope with the stress associated with work and give soothing relief to the body.it will help better if you display more samples and price range. |
rotecch77: @NL;11/2" galv pipe 3lenght will doThanks. I can understand the increase in the prices. The project is not in Lagos. It is in the village somewhere in Edo North. So prices are bound to be different between the nearest place of purcahse and Lagos. Usually, i buys things in Lagos and transport home but i cannot buy this pipes and transport there. If i buy in Lagos and transport, i might end up spending more. Let me take up the guy on the numbers he quoted for lenghts. |
rotecch77: 11/2 thick galvernized pipe is suitable for 250/1000 gallon tank,@rotecch77, please help see this quote that i got for a water tank stand of 19ft. What do you think?. 1. 3 galvanized pipe, each cost 8, 500. 4 lengths = N34, 000.00 2. 4 channel, each cost 12, 000. 2 lengths = N24, 000.00 3. 1 ½ galvanized pipe, each cost 4, 500. 5 lengths = N22, 500.00 4. 1 galvanized pipe, each cost 2, 500. 3 lengths = N7, 500.00 5. 1 ½ angle, each cost 1, 500. 5 lengths = N7, 500.00 6. Chaker plate 7, 000 = N7, 000.00 7. Workmanship = N20, 000.00 ========== Total = N122, 500 ========== |
gbadexy: Textured paint. This is fine and cool. I hope this is how the textued dove grey you produced for me will look like when it is used?. |
brabus: Nairaland Data Loss - A Big Lesson For AllI think Seun has not really told us what happened to Nairaland. I do not want to believe this hacking rubbish. Iam an IT person and a Software Engineer. If this data loss is a result of backup, then i can say that Seun has disappointed the entire IT industry in Nigeria. Can this happen in India?. How will people take the Nigerian IT industry serious?. A whole Nairaland that celebrated 1million users of recent has no recent backup. Have they not heard of what they call 'replication'?. This is how we do not take anything serious in Nigeria and the reason many startups do not grow to be big corporations. |
rotecch77: @euromillion, long time, the bath tube complete with the mixer tap is N40,000 (both the two are european stuff, not china made) water tanks is 23,000, which type of lorenzo water pump do you need (surface, surbmersible and the capacity, this will determin the price)lastly the tank there is placed on the top of the building. ... I haven't see the person you sent to meOn the bold, what is your advise?. I will soon need a water pumping machine. What do you advise and what is ideal for a any capacity. What i mean is that you advise here on the type that will be suitable for a capacity. For instance, you can say, machine xxxx surface/surbmersible is ideal for 1000 gallons/liters of water. |
rotecch77: 11/2 thick galvernized pipe is suitable for 250/1000 gallon tank,Thanks. |
rotecch77: I creat this section for plumbing work, both condit and surface pipe work and general installation; (others of our post is for supply)@rotecch77, i noticed a constructed overhead tank in this picture. Can you help with answer to this question: I got a quote of using 3inches galvanized pipe for 19feet overhead water tank. Iam thinking that if i go for using 2 inches, i can reduce the cost. What do you think?. Can using 2 inches galvanized pipe be ok for a 19 feet overhead water tank?. I have actually done a little survey and reseach at a shop selling galvanized pipes and i was told that the one and half inch pipe can do the job and that 2 or 3 inches pipe is an overkill. In addition, what capacity of rubber water tank is ideal to be mounnted on the various inches of pipe. |
mufutau55: That will be too much work... I mean almost 6 months of worthy data.. What happens to backups by Nairaland Executives.Exactly my thoughts. I think Seun has not really told us what happened. I do not want to believe that a whole Seun did not know what backups are. Even if you are hacked, the worst you can loose is a day's data and not a whole six months. I cannot for instance go to my bank to ask for a 6 months statement and the bank tells me that i cannot get it because they were hacked and so lost six months data. |
@Muyesky and other experts. I got a quote of using 3inches galvanized pipe for 19feet overhead water tank. Iam thinking that if i go for using 2 inches, i can reduce the cost. Wghat do you think?. Can using 2 inches galvanized pipe be ok for a 19 feet overhead water tank?. |
spyder880: Not done a wardrobe recently but this was done in my house this November, a kitchen cabinet for N100kThanks. I can work with this. The 160k quote i got for kitchen cabinet with marble for my small kitchen threw me off to the extent that i was thinking of converting it to a kitchen that uses firewood. After all, na for village the project dey. |
NL1960: ok. Is it possible you also give an idea of what it cost to do a wardrobe (9ft * 6ft) and kitchen cabinet. An amount range is fine.@spyder880. Still waiting for answer to this. Iam looking at medium finishes that is affordable and not expensive and not the top of the range types that cost almost an arm. |
gabbytabby: I spoke to my welder and they have versions for poor people like me which is still strong and is in the 100k region for the tall and 50k for bungalow. Its good to know that other options exist which does not compromise on safety.@gabbytabby. Please post a pic of this once it is completed by your welder. The poor like me will also need it. |
spyder880: Hope to have some free time at night to show some pictures.ok. Is it possible you also give an idea of what it cost to do a wardrobe (9ft * 6ft) and kitchen cabinet. An amount range is fine. |
spyder880: The bush green does not change color easily. I used the color on my own roof as you mentioned and it still looks fresh after two full years.Same with mine. Still fresh and green after 2 years. |
benimeogu: see the available designsAre these the designs for which you got the 400k quote for?. If not, you can post picture samples for us to view. |
spyder880: I will try and look up some steel rails and post later today, please also post those aluminium rails let's see how fine they look, some of us here might need them.some pics. This house is more than 10 years old. Pics 1 and 2 are aluminuim railings while pics 3 and 4 are steel railings
|
spyder880: Aluminium railings? Why not just make it steel up and down? Thanks. The reason i was considerig aluminium railings was because my present rented apartment has it in the upper part and it is beautiful. It is black in colour. I have also seen the the milky colour type somewhere close to my project and it is also fine. Anyway, if you have pictures of steel railings, can you please post some of them. |
spyder880: Since the top of the sitting room was decked and the ceiling fan hook was cast into the decking slab, it might not be a big issue because the wobbling occassioned by the oscilation of the blades will be minimal. But its not the same case in a bungalow where the ceiling fan might be hanging from a wood from the roof.Thanks. sitting room is decked. The POP guy bent and hid the ceiling fan hook inisde the POP. I intend to unbend and unhide them and fix the ceiling fans. I have never been a fan of standing fans. Meanwhile, i have some pics and questions for you on this link: https://www.nairaland.com/698906/real-cost-building-6-bedroom/90#20601273 |
Considerations for railings. Stainless steel is out of the question due to cost. Presently considering strong black or milky coloured aluminium for the upper railings and staircase and black coloured painted iron steel for the down railings. Suggestions and ideas are welcome.
|
spyder880: My balcony rails are not ready as the welder is sick, but we are fixing all the doors and burglary proofs. Will be interested in seeing the railings before and after fixing. I have a decision to make on railings as i do not have the money for stainless steel. I will likely post some pics on your six-bedroom duplex project in order to get some ideas on railings(staircase and non-staircase) from you. |
spyder880: We are still hanging the POP works here, cornice already fitted in some rooms. If there is POP in the sitting room, is it advisable or proper to put a ceiling fan to hang from the POP in the sitting room?. I have seen some POP houses where standing fans are being used instead of ceiling fans and to me, a standing fan does not really carry the air around. Mind you, aircondioner is not an option partly because of power. |

mufutau55: Good. But I thought you said two rooms and then a partition.. I was thinking of more each room with separation wall (partition).@Hajji Mufutau, it was this statement that also raised my antenna and it is also shown in the pictures. Anyway, let me wait Spyder pictures on the model that has been done. |
spyder880: Part of the balcony is meant to serve as the kitchen on each unit. These units don't come with in built toilets, you will see how I work around the toilet/bathroom issue later on.Consider the following points: (1) If two people are going to be sharing a balcony, be prepared to start settling tenants quarrels because the boundary is not clearly demarcated for the two. You can consider a low separating wall to act as boundary because you might have a tenant who scatters things all over the balcony while the other person might not like it. (2) The balcony serving as the kitchen for each unit is somehow dangerous because if people start cooking with stoves, the heat and smoke will engulf the whole veranda and since the place is enclosed, that is dangerous. In the event of fire from an explosive stove due to bad kerosene, what happens (3) If there is space on either side, Gabbytaddy's idea of having back-me-i-back-you would have been appropriate. Cooking in such a design will take the heat and smoke outside because each veranda is facing outside and not enclosed. (4) Be ready for police case in such situations like 'he has been sleeping with my wife', For example, imagine a full blooded young man is sharing the veranda with a married couple and the woman is young and the husband travels and cold dey, wetin go happen espercially if the young man comes out showing his macho frame. Wahala dey o. (5) Since the balcony is inside the enclosed veranda, i do not really see the purpose it will serve as people might likely not relax in it as it is in the veranda. People tend to relax outside to take fresh air in face-me-i-face-you. This is all i can come up with for now. If i remember more, i go add.

spyder880: Plot is 30m sq on all sides (100x100)Thanks |
NL1960: @spyder880. I want to assume here that the fence this mansion is getting will be on all the four sides of the plot. I want to fence only two sides of my project (just lenght and width) and not all four sides. Just a few questions:@Spyder, please, this my question is still awaiting your response. |
