spyder880: If you cover all the wall surfaces on the ground floor front, all the spaces from window till door sides till the edges, it will still look good.Oga Spyder, Thanks. I do not understand the bolded. I have actually broken my measurements into 'long', 'medium' and 'short' and they are all 'top to bottom'. 'Long' is 'from edge to edge'. Medium is 'from beginning of window to end of window' while 'short' is 'without the window i.e. the space between the windows'. Cost of buying the tiles is the reason while i broke it down this way. I forgot to add that i intend to also cover the gabble. I normally buy all the tiles i need at once. Iam yet to start tiling. I have already bought all that is needed for floor, wall and staircase. I want to buy the frontal ones before i start the entire tiling so that once i start, there is no stopping until it is completed. In my calculation on what to buy, i do not subtract windows and doors and i also still add on top to cater for breakages. |
spyder880: Thank you sir, the rest of the front.Spyder and all others: I want to buy frontal tiles and i will need some inputs from you guys how to use them in the attached pictures to make the building to be fine. Iam planning to cover the entire wall of the top (i.e from the edge of the wall to the door) while covering just from one edge of the window to the other edge of the window for the down part. iam also thinking of this same approach for the second picture which is actually the front of the house. Please, what do you guys think.

NL1960: Ok. Where in Lagos can i get them to buy. segcy.moor: NL1960: Have sent you a mail.Still waiting for response after sending the mail and a reminder to the email address found on your profile. |
segcy.moor:Have sent you a mail. |
segcy.moor:Ok. Where in Lagos can i get them to buy. |
segcy.moor:Nice stainless rails on the staircase. Please, if you got them in Lagos, where is that?. In addition, who normally installs the staircase rails?. Is it the tiler, bricklayer or an expert. |
segcy.moor:Ok. Waiting patiently with itchy eyes. Also do not forget to include where it can be bought from. |
segcy.moor:I guess the drilling of hole being done here is to install staircase hand railings. I have also seen some stainless railings here. If it is stainless hand railings that you want to use on this staircase, please can you post the completed work and also post where you got them from and at what price. Thanks in advance.

segcy.moor:Thanks. I have sorted out the issue. I was able to get a tile seller who link me with a tiler and he explained the process to me. What he explained tallied with what i was able to read on the internet. |
segcy.moor:Thanks for the response but iam yet to engage a tiler. Iam presently buying the tiles after which i will engage a tiler for the job. It was easy for me to calculate the number of tiles for floor and wall but staircase is neither a floor nor a wall. Since you are already using a tiler for this your project, you can find out for me from him. |
segcy.moor:Please, how does somebody calculate or know the number of tiles to use for staircase. In addition, is it possible to use any type of tile for staircase. |
POLICE CAP: I've observed that most persons prefer to build well furnished mansions in their villages which latter begins to look like an abandoned project because you only find people in them during festive periods. And the funny thing here is that most of these persons live in rented apartment in the city (where they spend most of their time)There are some people that leave their houses in Lagos everyday for office by 4am and do not get back home till about 10pm. So, using this your logic, it means that since they spend most of their time in the office, they should buy a big bed and be sleeping in the office and then sleep on a small bed at home. Anyway, nobody that visits the village will want to go there and go and lodge in a hotel or sleep in his grand father's mud house with his family while enjoying a duplex in the city. East or West, home is the best. |
segcy.moor:Please are these tiles seen here stone tiles?. If so, where in Lagos did you buy them from and for how much per Sq. meter. |
Muyesky: i thought i should add small beauty to the front of the house so i went ahead to get this stone tiles at the rate of #2300 per sq. meter and to my own taste, i think the tiler tried sha! what does the honorable house thinks? Please where did you buy this stone tiles?. |
spyder880: My brother Warri far oThis is not a problem. I do not think you should completely abandoned your ways. If somebody says he/she is big, give such a person a big service. If somebody says that he/she is not big and what the person has is within what you can accommodate, then you also go ahead. My Doctor (he is about 15 years older than me) who is a politician took me to where he bought his tiles. I had to run away when i saw the prices. I told him that levels pass levels. I saw wall tiles (Spanish) that were going for as much 5k per/M. People come into this tiles company to buy as much as N3million worth of tiles for a duplex. Soup that is sweet, it is money. If a client says that he wants you to go to Dubai and buy all his finishing, you go or you buy and courier them to Nigeria. |
spyder880: The frontal tiles, for exterior use mainly....Spyder880, do you have an idea of the price range for these frontal tiles. |
spyder880: Frontal crack tiles, e dey |
OilSubsidy: God! I have learnt a great deal from all of your threads o!! thanks a lot Prof. One day i hope to relocate to Naija and do something along your line of business. Hopefully build and sell. OilSubsidy: This your compound big o. A lot of money will be chopped on interlocking stonesNa retirement house for villa. So na just few interlocking stones with a lot of trees that will be put. my brother's bungalow is also within the space/compound. |
spyder880: Look this guy o, your house don fine finishJust basically internal finishing to do. I intend to put some frontal tiles in some part in the front (up and down). Make i just relax for now since i have all the internal tiles (floor and wall) already bought and ready for laying. |

Brabus, still expecting a response to my question below. NL1960: Oga Brabus. Good job. Cannot wait to see the finishing of this house. Those guys are Magictouchstudos are wizards in designs. |
Oga Brabus. Good job. Cannot wait to see the finishing of this house. Those guys are Magictouchstudos are wizards in designs. Please do you know where i can buy frontal tiles (those designed tiles used in the front of buildings) in Lagos and the price it goes for. |
Does anybody know where i can buy frontal tiles (those design tiles normally used in front of a building) in Lagos and the price it goes for. |
Smile4mee01: Salute to my nairalanders. You don taya abi?. You are not serious. Face up to the responsibilities. Somebody must always carry the responsibilities of a family. Iam the third child in my family and somehow like the bread winner. I have seven siblings (all girls) after me. I have been able to put five (5) of them through the higher institution. At a point in time, four (4) of them were in higher institutions. They have all finished. Some are married and working now. The only drawback which really is not a drawback is that i had to marry when i was now above 30 years instead of my earlier plans to marry at below 30. My putting them through the higher institution has created a record in my community as the family that has the highest number of female graduates in a family in my community. This joy cannot be quantified. |
Demain_man: You also do same for wall. Height x Floor Length = Area for that side. Do same for all sides and total all areas to get your wall area. I belief you can get that info on youtube even with drawings for better clarity. Rgds Davedavy: Measure the height of the wall, multiply it by the length of the wall, that is the area of that particular wall.Hope u get it.Please, one last question for the gurus. I have a store in my project. Is it compulsory to cover the walls of the store with tiles?. |
Davedavy: Measure the height of the wall, multiply it by the length of the wall, that is the area of that particular wall.Hope u get it.Yes oooooooo. I get it. Thanks. Una too much for this properties section. |
Demain_man: You also do same for wall. Height x Floor Length = Area for that side. Do same for all sides and total all areas to get your wall area. I belief you can get that info on youtube even with drawings for better clarity. Rgds@Demain_man, Thanks. Just to get it very clearly so that i do not make any mistake. There are four walls in a bathroom. Let us use number 1,2,3,4 to denote them. It means that the total area to cover is (H1*FL1 + H2*FL2 + H3*FL3 + H4*FL4) where H = Height and FL = Floor Length. Is this what you mean?. |
@Spyder and other gurus. A quick question on how to measure for tiles. Iam in the process of buying tiles for floors and wall (bathroom and kitchen). Iam somehow confused on how to measure what is needed for the walls since a wall has a height. For floors, what i did was just to get the length and width and multiply to get the Square meters or feet of the area to be covered. For walls, what do i have to do considering that there is a height in a wall. I want to cover the walls from the bottom to the top. |
spyder880: My point is why he is costing pvc boards in sq mts instead of the normal bundles as they are sold, but maybe thats how they do it around there. The labour is not supposed to be above N30k, 45 clips? well....Thanks for your response so far. Iam more confused by this response. I have sent you a mail. |

dont let this happen to you.
. I had a visitor in my house today, in the duplex you all know here online. The prospective client loved the house but hated the finish. He instructed me to finish his own with better roofing, doors, windows and tiles. Well, I just wanted to complete some good space for my kids, nothing too luxurious.
