PropertiesRe: Tips For Choosing Your Kitchen Furniture by NL1960: 2:45pm On Aug 22, 2014
LebanonCedars2: Haba bros! Do you think nothing good could ever come out of our own Nazareth, our obodo Nigeria huh huh

Furniture work is fast becoming a profession for the educated (with modern hand & machine tools) and with little encouragement from both the government and clients, we have all it takes to do even better things than our contemporaries in other nations of the world.

However, this post is not meant to showcase what we have done (we have another thread for that) but to sensitize people about the importance of our kitchen in our homes and what they should look out for when designing their kitchen. Since no one can single handedly construct every kitchen designs, we make use of what we have done combined with the work of others to drive home our point.

So, just sit back, enjoy and see if you can learn one or two things. Although we have lost the initial tread we opened to showcase some of our work (most of which were made for Nairalanders), a new one has been opened. Find the link below:

Good response and insights. The guy that did my POP is a Senior Lecturer in a Poly. He did for a friend and when i asked the friend, i was shocked when he said that the guy is a Senior Lecturer at a poly. Gone are the days when these type of jobs were left for the uneducated. Skills is the other of the day now and that is why i so much like the Germans.

mufutau55: I have sent you email with explanations and photos to your direct email address.
They used only Gravels not Granite.. You are right.. they only need to dig the hole, blind it first and fill it with concrete.
I will send you other photos collected from Oga Spyder, how it was done.. some of those photos have been wiped due to the Nairaland's Hackers Disaster but I had them saved and just recently posted some of them in this same thread on (previous page) Page4. May be they want to use Granite instead of the Gravels, I am not sure why but I used Gravels.

Hajji Mufutau
Thanks Hajji. I got all the pictures and explanations. You are too much. If that your H-beam of that height can be mounted with gravel, i see no reason why mine which is galvanized steel and of a lesser height cannot be mounted with gravel.
PropertiesRe: A Pictorial Documentation Of A New Home Building In Enugu. by NL1960: 5:03pm On Aug 21, 2014
mufutau55: Sorry for the lateness.. I overlooked this.
I am quite sure we did not use any granite when I was doing mine.. there was an iron mat and regular concrete was used... I instructed them
that the iron must be buried 4ft underground as per one of the one Oga Spyder did. The whole length of the stand is 27ft, out of that 4ft is underground and 23ft on the surface, tall enough for use in the Duplex and the Mens Quarter. And we used H-Beam for the iron not round pipe.
It was fully discussed on one of Oga Spyder's thread before the "Hackers Disaster" on Nairaland wiped it clean.
If you want some pictures of mine.. just send me an email.. I sent it to another person here so I can just forward it to you as well.
Hope this helps a little.

Hajji Mufutau
Thanks Hajji. I have been looking for your mail but could not get it on your profile.

Iam a little bit confused on this concrete thing. I guess the concrete was done with gravel and cement. My stand was done with 3 inches galvanized pipe. So i was expecting that the hole to be dug will not be wide and just gravel and cement would have been enough for the holes only to be told granite and they said 8 wheel barrows of granite.

No vex for this too much question. I had to suspend the mouthing because of what i was told in order to ask questions here.

Please let me have your email so that i can send you a mail.

I have sent you a message through Nairaland email system.

spyder880: More work done on the finish of this house.
Oga spyder880, i want to mount my water tank stand which is like the one shown in this picture and i was told that i need to use granite. Buying a tipper load is out of the question as the remaining will not be used. I was now told that i will need eight(cool wheel barrows of granite to do this.

Is there an alternative to using granite and if there is no alternative, is eight(cool barrows not too much considering that three(3) feet will be underground?.

@Hajji, you can also share your experience on the one you did.

The entrances to the 3 bedroom and the mini flat are on the same side. For somebody that want to build this, live in the 3 bedroom and rent out the mini flat, will this same side entrances not intrude on privacy?.

Demainman1: @Prof Spyder, I love this water tank stand. Pls what material is used? and what is the estimated cost sir?
Also add the height i.e. total height and height above ground level. I want to believe that galvanized steel was used in the construction of the stand. If so, is it 2inches or 3 inches?.

the back of the b.q is facing the back of the duplex because of
1.privacy
2.the fence will form a compound for the b.q.
I hope you get my drift?

Cheers

I get the drift and explanation. I guess access to the BQ compound will be through the main gate of the Duplex compound and there will now be a small gate access to the BQ compound.

Nice one Sam. A portable and cute design fit for a 'President'.

Just a little observation. Why is the back of the BQ facing the back of the Duplex?. I though the front of the BQ should be face the back of the duplex because if this is to be built, the BQ is likely to be at the back of the plot while the Duplex is on the front of the plot.

spyder880: Roofing is not easy on costs, everything about the roof is expensive.
My people have a saying that 'a building is four (4) walls and a roof and that once you roof, you can start sleeping in it'. That is why you see farmers struggling to roof and once that is done, they will just use zinc to cover the window and door and they will move in. Na from roofing that finishing starts.

Fhemmmy: We have seen that my Brothers and Sisters in Nigeria has shifted to ANYTHING and EVERYTHING Lexus . . . . Se we present you a thread where you could make all your inquiries on LEXUS.

We will keep it to what is legally allowed to get into Lagos and be cleared and as of today, that will be all:
SUV - JEEP from 1999 to Date
Cars - Sedan from 1999 to Date

The prices will INCLUDES buying, transportation to the port in USA/Canada, cost of money transfer from Nigeria to here and all bank charges, sending the BOL to Nigeria and clearing in Lagos as well as all other charges..... if we specify that clearing is extra, that means clearing cost is not inclusive.

We once again appreciate your time on this thread and your business...... While we awaits those that are yet to believe in Pre-Order or our business to join the crowd of good things happening.

We are not the best, but we know we could be better with your advice and criticism . . . There is no Fhemmmy Motos without you and your business.
I have also been seeing and noticing this Lexus craze. Is it that the car is that good or is it that it is cheap?. That was how the craze over Opel (aka poor man benz) started.

Jamesqu: Chineke God of Umuahaia!

No be to find solution we all dey here for...okay siddon look then.

Anyway, I will take a pix of the said solution when I'm in Lagos later in the year and post it for all to see...I know its tough, but just reserve some cash. The Lord will see you through it.

Sometimes, we keep on praying when the Lord has answered our prayer through other people's experiences...
Why are you bothering yourself to shout 'Chineke God of Umuahaia!'?. This is the typical mentality of most Nigerians. Iam sure that when Brabus told him the same thing, he must have also said that he rejected it in Jesus name and iam sure he even called his Pastor to come and bind and cast out all evils from what will make the fence to fall down. Na the fence keeps falling down and he keeps patching it and he is even not ready to learn from the experience of another.

spyder880: Building this whole house, ( except for the land,) all materials, labour, supervision and site management will cost about N25 million naira. This includes the finishing works, plastering and designing works, windows and doors, tiles and POP, toilet facilities and electrical works, including wires and fittings, kitchen and wardrobe fittings and other conditions we might agree to.

We are rounding up this project soon and will doing a wrap up discussion later.
