Israel okays emergency regulations to close Al Jazeera office in Israel
The Israeli government on Friday approved emergency regulations that allow the closing of the office of Al Jazeera news channel in Israel.
Israeli public broadcaster KAN said under the regulations, the Al Jazeera office may be closed and all its equipment be confiscated.
KAN added that Israeli officials believe that Al Jazeera coverage harms Israel's national security.
The Israeli i24 news website quoted an Israeli statement as saying the Al Jazeera network "broadcasts propaganda in the service of Hamas in Arabic and English to viewers all over the world."
Al Jazeera network had denied all these allegations but has yet to comment on the latest Israeli decision.
Qatar-based Al Jazeera television is considered one of the main media networks that is fully covering the situation in Gaza, Israel, and southern Lebanon.

Tinubu’s Administration Moves FEC Meeting From Wednesday To Monday
President Bola Tinubu’s administration has moved the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting from Wednesday to Monday.
The Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, disclosed this while briefing State House correspondents shortly after the FEC meeting held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
President Tinubu has only held two FEC meetings since inaugurating his cabinet in August.
The second FEC meeting held on Monday also witnessed the swearing in of three additional ministers who were recently screened by the National Assembly.
The Minister of Information noted that FEC meeting may not hold regularly especially if there is nothing very pressing to be discussed.
Under the administration of his predecessor, President Muhammadu Buhari, FEC meetings were held on Wednesdays.

Israel resumed on Sunday the water supply to the southern Gaza Strip after strong pressure from the Biden administration, two Israeli officials told Axios.
Why it matters: Israel's decision to completely stop the water supply to Gaza exacerbated the already dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, with aid groups warning water supplies were quickly running out.
Israel announced on the second day of the war that it was stopping all of the water supply to Gaza. Israeli Minister of Energy Israel Katz had said that "no water spigot will be opened" until the hostages Hamas is holding were freed.
Behind the scenes: Israeli officials say the Biden administration pressed the Israeli government in the last 48 hours to resume the water supply, especially to the southern part of the Gaza Strip.
Israel has told more than 1 million Palestinians to evacuate the northern part of the Strip to the south to avoid being harmed by Israel's expected ground offensive.
Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians have since moved to the south, putting more pressure on limited supplies and shelters. The Biden administration told Israel that it couldn't tell Palestinians to evacuate to the southern Gaza Strip without allowing them to have water, the Israeli officials said.

The Nigeria Police Force, Federal Capital Territory command has said it has arraigned no fewer than 51 persons in court for raising false alarm, after it recorded about 62 cases of alleged disappearance of male private parts in the FCT.

Garba stated, “The first case of male organ disappearance was first recorded in Gwagwalada on 21/09/2023. It has spread all over FCT whereby as of today we had a total of 62 cases reported.
“51 suspects were charged to court for giving false information and inciting public disturbance. To this end, I want to reiterate my commitment and willingness to always work with you to defeat crime in all its forms in the Federal Capital Territory.”

Two armed robbers feared dead in gun duel with police in Ogun
Ogun State Police Command on Friday said that its operatives on Friday engaged some armed robbers who invaded Remo Majestic Hotel, Sagamu in a gun duel and killed two of the robbers while others reportedly escaped with bullet wounds.
The command said one of its officers, an inspector, and two security guards were also shot by the rampaging robbers and that the wounded officers who are currently said to be receiving medical attention are in stable condition.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola on Friday, she said, “At about 0100hrs a distress call was received by Acpol Sagamu that armed hoodlums were operating at Remo Majestic Hotel in Sagamu”
She added that based on the report, a combined team of policemen were mobilized to the scene.
Odutola explained further that immediately the hoodlums sighted the policemen, and they opened fire on them, while the policemen engaged the hoodlums, two of the hoodlums were wounded while others escaped into a nearby bush.
The PPRO said, “Two locally-made single barrel guns, four unexpended cartridges, thirteen expended cartridges, one big scissors, 10 android phones, one java phone, white Toyota Venza Car with number plate BWR 123DD Abuja were among items recovered at the scene of crime.
“One police inspector and two security guards were shot by the armed robbers but were rescued to Olabisi Onabanjo Teaching Hospital Sagamu for medical attention and are reported to be in stable condition.”
Odutola said preliminary investigation revealed that the suspected armed robbers had earlier mingled with lodgers before launching the dastard attacks.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu has been briefed and he has ordered an immediate manhunt for the two fleeing suspects who escaped with bullet wounds.
Hotel robbery: Ogun police arrest fleeing suspects
Two suspected robbers identified as Akande Sulaiman and Adekanbi Matthew believed to have participated in the recent Sagamu Hotel bloody robbery have been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command.
The suspects were arrested on Wednesday with the assistance of the police personnel attached to Mapo Area Divisional Police headquarters, Oyo state command.
Earlier, the Ogun state police command had said that its operatives engaged some armed robbers who invaded Remo Majestic Hotel, Sagamu in a gun duel and killed two of the robbers while others reportedly escaped with bullet wounds.
The ravaging robbers allegedly also shot one of its officers, an inspector, and two security guards: the wounded officers, who are reportedly receiving medical care at the moment, are claimed to be in stable condition.
However, in an exclusive chat with PUNCH Metro on Thursday, the state Public Relations Officer, Omolola Oduntola, said during the gunfight between the police and the thieves, it was claimed that one Elijah confessed that Suleiman and Matthew were members of the gang.
She added, “One black Jeep with REG. NO AAA 804 GD snatched by the robbers, which they used to perpetrate their escape from the scene has been recovered. The two suspects and the exhibits recovered will be taken to SCID for further investigation.”
Fire guts fuel tankers, other vehicles at Ijora-Apapa road
Many fuel tankers and vehicles are currently on fire at Ijora-Apapa area of the Lagos state. Number of causalities could not be ascertained as at press time.
The incident, it was gathered from an eyewitness, happened at about 7.30 pm.
Men of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services and other emergency responders were yet to get to the scene of the raging inferno.
Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, Delta State Command, have arrested an 18-year-old boy who identified himself as Sunday Linus, for falsely accusing an aged woman of stealing his private parts.
The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, who made this known on Wednesday said that police officers from GRA Division rescued the woman from a mob of over 100 persons who had wanted to kill her over the allegation.
The police spokesperson further stated that while the woman was receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital and the suspect in custody, the police launched manhunt of all the people who were seen in a video attacking and beating the woman.
"On Sunday 8th October 2023 at DBS Road Asaba, this 18-year-old suspect Ebube Linus raised a false alarm that an old woman inside a tricycle touched him and his manhood (penis) disappeared.
"Over 100 misguided touts gathered and mobbed this woman, stripping her naked and beating her to a stupor to the point of almost killing her.
"The Command was contacted and the DPO GRA division Asaba led policemen to the scene, rescued the woman, and arrested the suspect who we later discovered that nothing was wrong with him, as his manhood is intact.
"He just lied against a poor woman, a mother, a daughter, and a wife. Now the video of her being beaten and stripped naked is all over the internet.
"Does this make any sense? Why embark on self-help? why jungle justice? We are hunting for everybody on that video and they will be arrested and dealt with in accordance with the law alongside the suspect."
Chairman of the United States House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee, Michael McCaul, has disclosed that Egypt warned Israel of potential violence three days before Hamas launched a deadly attack on the Israelis at the border.
McCaul made this known while speaking to reporters on Wednesday, adding that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the reports as “absolutely false”.
According to BBC, Israeli intelligence services are under scrutiny for their failure to prevent the deadliest attack by Palestinian militants in Israel’s 75-year history.
“We know that Egypt has warned the Israelis three days prior that an event like this could happen,” Mr McCaul told reporters following a closed-door intelligence briefing on Wednesday for lawmakers about the Middle East crisis.
“I don’t want to get too much into classified, but a warning was given,” the Texas Republican added. “I think the question was at what level.”
An Egyptian intelligence official told the Associated Press news agency this week that Cairo had repeatedly warned the Israelis “something big” was being planned from Gaza.
“We have warned them an explosion of the situation is coming, and very soon, and it would be big. But they underestimated such warnings,” said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
The Cairo official said Israeli officials had played down the threat from Gaza, instead focusing on the West Bank.
According to the Financial Times, quoting two unnamed officials familiar with the matter, there was no hard intelligence of a specific attack.
On Wednesday, Netanyahu described any suggestion that Israel had received a specific warning in advance of the deadly incursion as “totally fake news”.
More than 1,500 militants stormed through the Gaza security barrier in a co-ordinated land, air and sea attack on Saturday.
The death toll in Israel from the Hamas attacks has reached 1,200. More than 1,000 people have been killed by Israeli air strikes on Gaza.
Israel has been pounding Hamas targets in Gaza in response, while residents of the territory say they have no mains electricity after their only power station ran out of fuel.
Hamas has, meanwhile, condemned US President Joe Biden’s remarks on Tuesday saying Israel had a duty to respond to the attacks, which he called an “act of sheer evil”.
The Palestinian group said Mr Biden’s remarks were “inflammatory” and aimed to escalate tensions in the Gaza Strip.
In the wake of the Hamas attack, the US announced it was moving an aircraft carrier, ships and jets to the eastern Mediterranean, and that it would also give Israel additional equipment and ammunition.
