Travel / Re: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Worker Program - Connect Here Part 11 by nnamdi346: 10:54pm On Mar 24 |
If you're familiar with the Alberta Express Entry PNP stream - Primary Occupation and Family Connection, I have a question. My job, with NOC code 21222, is listed as an occupation in demand. However, I don't have any family members who are permanent residents or citizens of Alberta. I'm currently on an open work permit. Do I still have a chance to receive an invitation under this stream? Has anyone been in this situation or a similar situation before? |

Quick question on behalf of someone: I'm currently enrolled in the Practical Nursing program at Georgian College, Ontario for the January to April 2024 semester and have been accepted into the same program at a Lethbridge college in Alberta, starting in September 2024. Is it permissible according to IRCC regulations for me to end my studies at Georgian College after the first semester in April 2024 and wait until September 2024 to begin my studies in Lethbridge? Specifically, what steps should I take to ensure my study permit remains valid during the break from April to September? I'm changing school and province cos of family unification. |

Hi Guys, For those who have landed, did you show your funds to the CBSA officer in naira or did you have to convert to fx? As a spouse of an international student, can one use his/her canada job offer/annual salary as addition pof or not reveal it to the officer at all? What are the other possible questions one can be asked by these officers. Thanks in advance! XX |

mwenhen: It's a tricky situation. You should await the GCMS note. Hopefully, it doesn't cite misrepresentation. If it's not that, regrettably, you may have to maintain the initial claim, or you risk facing a misrepresentation ban. Convincing a visa officer about an error in marriage status or the number of children will be challenging. But let's hear from other people here. |

Favouralltheway: If the primary applicant has been granted the visa, the chances of getting the SOWP is almost 90% so long as you provide the required POF, proof of relationship with the primary application, do not misrepresent, demonstrate your work experience, etc. A successful primary applicant means he/she has already proven to have strong hometies and as a spouse, your stay in Canada is technically tied to the primary applicant. However, I still included some of the hometies my wife used e.g. properties, job in Nigeria, parents/siblings back home etc... Also, I used my portal. Hope this helps. 1 Like |

Kenn55: We didn't apply together. I applied after hers was approved and visa placed in her passport. She used me as home ties but in my SOWP application I ensured I explained the sudden change in plan (i.e why I decided to travel with her) in detail...just some subtle emotional blackmail...and it was approved. 2 Likes |

Landed a professional job in Calgary, Alberta Canada with an SOWP - NOC 1. Does anyone know how easy it is to get PNP in Alberta with his job offer/experience, before my spouse completes her 2-years program, and which stream? |

Just to encourage spouses of international students and professional experience (4+ years) like myself to apply for jobs before landing - it wasn't easy for me at all - several applications, about 8 interviews but finally landed one. No wait until you land o...Canadian job market dey some how. All the best! 6 Likes |

Hi guys, quick question please. For those who applied for co-op permit alongside study permit, did you receive the co-op permit at the border or via IRCC portal? Or at what stage did you receive yours? Thanks |

Gentlesoul3268: Good point but I have heard instances where they refuse spouses who applied for Visitor's Visa when they should be applying for SOWP regardless. |

Bobomaigida: Thanks boss, very similar to how I drafted the responses same yesterday. For the first, I said we underestimated the impact of staying apart as a family and had to do a reassessment of our decision...etc For the second, because the VO wants me to demonstrate "the rationale for leaving a professional job for a menial job" in the event that I don't land a SIMILAR professional job easily, I said in my response that I am in talk with my HR for a transfer to one of our offices in Toronto, Canada (i provided evidence) and also provided email correspondences of two interviews I am having with two similar companies, one based in Toronto and the other in Vancouver as a contingency plan, in case the transfer fails. Further went ahead to say that if I eventual get an offer from any of the companies I am interviewing with, I would not be able to resume until I provide my right to work, and my HR will move things forward if I provide them with my open work permit. Then added a last line, saying while I love my job, my family is more important to me etc. I just got a correspondence letter now. I am not sure if that is good or bad sign. What does that mean? 3 Likes 1 Share |
