Ifexsco: "He that observes the wind will not sow". Life is full of several uncertainties and risks. It is therefore important to think through before we make choices in life. I should ask that, what motivated you in the first instance to settle for Australia amongst other countries? Definitely, you must have your reasons. I am sure nobody here will advise you to go ahead with it or not because it is your choice afterall. Anyway,If I were in your shoe I would not back down. 1 Like |

Wherever it is stated in black and white that the minimum qualification is Bachelor degree or Higher, please do not provide anything less otherwise, it will be negative outcome. The second scenario is fine where it stated that Advanced Diploma is required for the occupation. You just need to look for any state or employer that will sponsor such occupation although the latter is very rare. I will advise you should go for TRA if you have the option. |

peleson: Point of correction, HND is not regarded as Associate Degree but rather Advanced Diploma. Yes, you could use it for Postgraduate certificates or Diploma which will be credited towards your Msc. 3 Likes |

mrnilobrawn:Most occupations that fall within Engineering Associate are Technicians. I will advise you to check any occupation you are eligible for on the SOL/CSOL list and know the specific requirements by checking the ANZCO code. |

mrnilobrawn: You will get 10points if you were assessed as equivalent to Engineering Associate either with your ND/HND. You could use your ND provided there would be more years of experience to claim. |

mrnilobrawn:. I can speak on Engineer Australia; it is clear what the minimum qualifications are for various cadres. Professional Engineer- 5yrs Engineering degree (B.Eng), Engineering Technologist- Associate degree (4/3yrs) and Engineering Associates-Advanced Diploma (2yrs), which Nigerian equivalence is either ND or HND. If your qualification is ND/HND, DO NOT NOMINATE either PE or ET. 1 Like |

Dav6: To work here as a registered nurse you need to apply to AHPRA with your overseas trained application form.. the form link is below http://www.nursingmidwiferyboard.gov.au/documents/default.aspx?record=WD11%2f5938&dbid=AP&chksum=Vu5B6IVSxjQ2tDhZpamU2Q%3d%3d You need to do the IELTS or the OET exam before applying...now for nurses or health practitioners, OET is the easiest exam to write. It is infact the best, you write it once and you are sure of getting it right. Immigration department accepts it for PR purposes. After application they will ask you for IELTS OR OET that's why you need to write the exam before applying...once you submit the result they will ask the nurses board in the country where you registered to verify that you registered with them, the nurses board in Nigeria or wherever you registered will send the verification directly to AHPRA, when AHPRA gets it they will send you an email with a list of universities where you can do a bridging course in Australia for 3-6 months or 1 year conversion course (which people like to do cos they can work whilst doing the conversion and pay their fees unlike the bridging course that they can't work BUT THEN AHPRA WILL TELL YOU WHICH ONE TO GO FOR) UNIVERSITY TRAINED I THINK WILL BE ASKED TO DO THE 3 MONTHS COURSE, PEOPLE WHO DO THE 1 YEAR CONVERSION COURSE ARE THOSE WHO ARE HOSPITAL TRAINED REGISTERED NURSES WITH A DIPLOMA CERTIFICATE SO AFTER THE CONVERSION THE SCHOOL GIVES THEM A BACHELOR'S CERTIFICATE AND CANCELS DIPLOMA(which is good cos then you have a bachelor degree not diploma). After the bridging course you will get your registration with AHPRA as a nurse. scrollmeout: Find below the info on Engineers Australia regarding that. You can always check for any information on their website. Current assessment turnaround time Regularly updated advice on the dates of applications under current process may be sought by sending a blank email to msastatus@engineersaustralia.org.au with the sole word 'Status' in the email subject line. You will receive an automatic response. Generally, for: Non-accredited qualifications – turnaround is currently about 13 weeks from the date of receipt. Note this time can be highly variable depending on numbers of incoming applications Accredited Australian and Accord qualifications – currently about 11 weeks. Please do NOT contact Engineers Australia within these timeframes, as it will further delay processing times for all applications. |

BKings: Yes you will get positive assessment from Engineers Australia but not in your nominated skill rather in another skill e.g Engineering Technologist. A friend with similar scenario as yours got a positive assessment but was given " Engineering Technologist", which was different from Telecommunication Field Engineer he nominated. He studied Mechanical Engineering from Unilag and had more than 10years of experience in Telecom industry as a Field Enigieer. |

ewagbamio: You have a commendable result at first attempt despite short period of preparation. In fact, you got good band in the modules others consider very tough to pass. You need to practice both your speaking and writing well so as to achieve good band in them. As a matter of fact, they are the easiest modules to pass but you need to master the skills. chookudi: It is very clear from the job description and qualification required for occupation in question, that you need AQ certificate 3 or 4 or relevant experience. She cannot use her Bsc Accounting as it is not relevant. How many years of experience does your wife has in Accounting? She might be able to do assessment. If she needs extra points for immigration purpose, she could sit for IELTS and aim at 7/8 in each band. |
Travel / Re: General Australian Visa Enquiries by NNBB2012: 3:20am On Mar 17, 2015 |
mclarry: You stand a very good chance of getting positive assessment. You do not need to wait till June since it is the same points that both 8yrs and 9yrs of experience will fetch you; you can start the process now. I will advise you to google the ANZCO code (ABS) of the relevant occupations on the SOL to know the one that perfectly matches your experience and qualification. You should be fine and possibly you might not need IELTS, provided that you are between 25-32 except if your assessing body requires it for assessment. 1 Like |

prost80: You do not need Assessment from Engineers Australia to be able to work as an Engineer in Australia once you have your PR. If you already got your positive assessment from elsewhere, and you are very sure you have the required-60points, then go ahead and apply for your visa. You are not tied to the skill you nominated in Australia. It is purely for migration purpose. |
Travel / Re: General Australian Visa Enquiries by NNBB2012: 11:26pm On Mar 12, 2015 |
prost80: Your visa is not locked to any particular nominated skill. Once you get your PR, you can decide to go for any job. It is your PR status that will be considered. Meanwhile, you could also try Engineers Australia assessment if you had enough fund to play with, otherwise, there is no need for that. 1 Like |

DaRocha: Sorry for the negative outcome of your assessment. For you to get positive outcome in most of the nominated occupations, it is expected that your first degree should be related except where it categorically stated that experience can substitude. For example,no matter how well experienced you might be in Engineering and if you did not have first degree/Diploma in Engineering, you would never get positive assessment from Engineers Australia. It is always wise to check the ANZCO code on ABS website to know the job description and the relevant qualification required before applying for assessment at all. All you need is to just google the code. I will advise whoever wants to study in Australia, with the intention of living here permanently to always consider occupation that is either on SOL/CSOL list except by marriage to an Australian. If you had no previous experience in any occupation that is on the list, then you must study a course that is related to any occupation on the SOL/CSOL list. So, please do not come to Australia to waste your time with the mindset that after my study I will get PR. Your course has to be on the list and you must also meet the required points (60points) except by marriage to any Australian PR holder or citizen. |

scrollmeout: You can check the SOL list to know your ANZCO code. You must have related experience in your nominated occupation. Visit Australia Engineer website and check the right format for your CDR. CDR is basically your own work experience on your job, academic project or any project you have carried out. Your own involvement on the project etc. Read the guideline carefully on Australia Engineer website. Don't stress yourself as such on the CDR, just address only the segments you are suppose to cover and you will be fine. |

gogochocolate: Sincerely, I would say you have an impressive experience in RF,RAN and CORE. However, it is unfortunate that much is not happening at the moment in these areas. You can check the major jobsites as suggested ealier on to confirm this. I would advise you to get skills in the area of Transmission,IP/MPLS,Fibre Planning,Splicing and FTTH installation, so as to be competitive and not keep on searching. Also think more of Networking and Network administration. You can google the websites of the major players in Telco such as Telstra,Optus,Vodafone and NBNco. There are other vendors which you can also check such as Ericsson,Huawei,Alcatel,Nokia-Siemen,Tellabs,Kordia, Downer,Visionstream etc. Above all, have an optimistic view as you plan your journey. Do have an open mind to start from little beginning and also commit things unto God's hand. He will direct your path. 3 Likes |

gogochocolate: Good on you bro! Well, like I rightly said earlier, experience is the key thing here. If you are IT inclined, you could explore that area as well. Of course, oil and gas etc. are good sectors you could explore. What is your area of strength in Telco? |
Travel / Re: General Australian Visa Enquiries by NNBB2012: 12:15am On Dec 03, 2014 |
gogochocolate: Yes, It is possible to do courses in the University or Tafe and pay at subsidised rates as PR holder. Australia is a country where emphasis is not much on certifications but rather your experience in your profession. However, if you could lay your hands on any basic certifications/trainings (CCNA,PMP,etc) before you arrive will be better otherwise you might end up paying huge amount if you were to do some of these trainings here. Again, what you need mostly is your experience. Even with your experience, you will still need to crack the nut of local experience here. Employers here don't joke with that. As per the Telco industry, well I must tell you the reality here at the moment. It is not all that big because the population of Australia is about 24million, so you do the maths. And sadly enough, it is flooded and highly competitive. Sometimes, It takes highlevel of networking to breakthrough. You will be competing with mostly Indians, Srilankans,Pakistanis and Bangladesh professionals. And these people already have insiders who can easily refer them. Employers sometimes prefer that because they don't want to waste time in recruiting right candidates. Check the major job websites (seek.com.au and indeed.com.au) for advertised jobs and start tailoring your CV to skills set required. You will need to work hard on your CVs. Nigerian CV's style doesn't work here as such. Emphasis is mainly on what you have done and what you can do. You need to also prepare your mind to stay in the cities such as Sydney,Melbourne,Perth and Brisbane if you really want Telco job. Wishing you goodluck in your relocation and job search. 3 Likes |

What is the big deal in the cost of the project the church wants to embark on? The church is not forcing anybody to give towards this project. Giving must be done willingly, and the people that know the important of it do key in to it. Solomon, as King gave 22,000 Oxen and 100,000 sheep burnt offerings in a single day (1 Kings 8:63). If it were in our present day, let us assume, an Ox cost 100,000naira and a sheep cost 50,000naira;the total amount would be around 7.2 billion naira just as an offering in a single day. 1 Like |

I never knew that I could have avoided that by just submitting proof that she had her education in English. I also read recently on this forum that Nigerian could submit CDR for assessment to EA without ielts result. It's interesting that things are changing fast. |
