Separation does not stop each region from developing on its own. Right now each state has power to deport or reallocate those they do not want.

Buhari Without Idiagbon Exposed More Than Familiar Traits

The advantage of a multi-ethnic or multiracial environment endears us to strive for the optimum character in human potential. Different ideas and ideals are brought to bear in management and smooth running of any organization or business. The problem with dictatorial tendencies is the creation of fear that stifles free and diverse opinions that help the leadership. Buhari, if he cares, is paying the price of lack of diversity at the top.

There was a country under General Buhari. It came to order under Operation War Against Indiscipline within a flash. Operation WAI was so oppressive many people of goodwill complained it was too harsh. Older people that younger folks had to get up for on the bus or allow to go in front of the line in banks, had to line up and wait for their turns. It was un-African as respect for our elders went out the window.

Anyway, Buhari was firmly in charge and his orders were implemented with uncheerful alacrity through Idiagbon. Nigerians knew that the Military regime was not pleasant but given a choice between the way their country was going down and a rescue mission by the military, they welcomed the Army with some reservations.

O gosh, respect for the elderly online was the least of all the problems with discipline; since some people disappeared in the name of Idiagbon. He was so ruthless, nobody close to him would dare ask for favors or indulgence in his name. Idiagbon was terror! But Buhari/Idiagbon brought sanity back to the Country in 1983 after the reckless decadence of the Civilian Government of Shehu Shagari that had been confirmed in the 1979 inconclusive election won by law that divided a state into two-third.

In spite of the iron hands of the Army, most people welcomed the change from impunity to unpalatable discipline. The Country was losing everything from substantive economic growth to the importation of junk and luxuries resulting in the waste of Foreign Reserves and talents. Folks were no longer using their brains since they could make easy money from political connections, unfulfilled contracts, petty selling and buying of anything foreign.

The overthrow of Buhari in a palace coup by Babangida, while Idiagbon was out of the country in Saudi Arabia, left an indelible mark on Buhari's psyche up to today. Indeed, that is the reason all his security chiefs and confidants are from his kitchen cabinet closer to his home. But his success as a disciplinarian that won him election came largely from Idiagbon from Kwara State, watching his back.

The irony was that the overthrow of his regime as a dictator came mostly from his Northern cliques. Today, a familiar clique of Services Chiefs has taken him hostage going against what elected him. Forget about his wife's reservation of them, Buhari cannot change his Service Chiefs, even when they cannot defeat Boko Haram.

The fear expressed by Buhari’s wife Aisha was recently confirmed by his National Security Adviser, Major General Babagana Monguno (rtd). He claimed that those that did not work for his election are “strange” people like Chief of Staff Abba Kyari that were meddling in Security affairs in the Presidency. He called on the Service Chiefs to stop taking his orders!

Soldiers had expressed their indignation over Amnesty granted to Boko Haram miscreants roaming the Country killing Hausa and minority farmers in the North, spreading and asserting their privilege to kidnap, maim, kill and rape women with impunity in the South. No country can stand united under such injustice condoned by the Authority that was expected to punish them.

The mayhem of Boko Haram that started in Churches, against Southerners has now metastasized against Northerners killing minorities and the Hausa majority without any solution in sight. The reason is that the minority Fulani led the Government granted free entry without a visa into the Country once they show up (usually from the Northern border) where Fulani from other countries get a free pass.

Despite the fact that Buhari admitted that those creating problems by maiming and killing Nigerians are foreigners penetrating our borders. The same Nigerian borders are closed in the South. So Buhari has lost the credibility on security and discipline that brought him to power by declaring Nigerian borders open to known terrorists from other countries despite cries against them from other parts of the Country.

Even worse, his fight against corruption is now in doubt. The USA recently refused to release Abacha loot since the receivers were part of the Abacha team that looted it in the first place. There is no reason to release looted funds into the hands of the same people that looted it. Foreign countries know it is going to be looted again.

This was the same country that fought a civil war without borrowing a kobo, controlled access to foreign currencies and trade. The door is suddenly thrown open for Abacha and his team of looters to recover what they lost in foreign countries.

It was a false choice between Buhari and Jonathan. When you have the choice between two evils, Nigeria remembered the disciplinarian of 1983. Those old enough to vote and made the choice between Jonathan and Buhari knew the Country was going down like it did under Shagari. Under Jonathan, they remembered Buhari coming to the rescue.

They also knew he was a dictator then and might return as one again. But the excesses of Jonathan and the impunity of his ministers were too much to bear. Buhari has grown old and lost his courage to fight corruption and terrorists. This is not the time to regret the choice of Buhari, it is time to let leaders know, they will be thrown out once the aspiration of the people has been betrayed.

Kenya’s blood banks are running dry after the U.S. ended aid — and a baby’s life is at risk

NAIROBI — When Sheilla Munjiru entered the world on Jan. 5, her skin was a sickly shade of yellow.

She had severe jaundice and urgently needed a blood transfusion, said doctors at the small-town clinic in Kenya’s hill country where she was born.

But they had no blood. Neither did the doctors at a county-level hospital, so they sent her to Kenya’s largest referral hospital in the capital, Nairobi. Even there, no luck.

Sheilla was born as Kenya’s blood banks are beginning to run dry. The country had relied for years almost entirely on U.S. aid for its state-run blood transfusion service, but the funding was discontinued in September.

The director of the service, part of Kenya’s Health Ministry, said the support ended abruptly and prematurely, leaving Kenyan officials unprepared. But U.S. officials said a transition of responsibility had been discussed for 10 years.

The U.S. government gave Kenya $72.5 million over more than 15 years through its global HIV/AIDS prevention program, called PEPFAR, to build its blood safety and transfusion infrastructure nearly from scratch — from the blood banks themselves to equipment and training. The aid was aimed at building confidence in blood collection so Kenyans wouldn’t fear getting tested for the virus.

“The United States had consulted with the government of Kenya for several years on plans to transition this blood safety assistance to their responsibility,” said U.S. Ambassador to Kenya Kyle McCarter.

Other U.S. officials, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss the matter more freely, said the United States gradually reduced funding over the course of the last decade for the blood transfusion service from a high of almost $6 million per year to $1.4 million last year. They emphasized that the U.S. government had been satisfied that the Kenyan government was ready to take control of it when the funding was withdrawn.

But the Kenyan government did not provide for the transfusion service in its budget for 2020, and the past year’s blood collection totals were dire, according to Fridah Govedi, the head of the transfusion service. The service aims to collect 1 million units of blood per year. Last year, it collected just 164,000 units. Govedi isn’t sure when it can get up to speed, but it won’t be this year, she said.

The chairwoman of the Kenyan parliament’s health committee, Sabina Chege, said that funding for the service would almost certainly be included in the 2021 budget and that it wasn’t included last year despite foreknowledge of the U.S. cuts because “nobody at the Ministry of Health took responsibility.”

“We told them the cuts were coming,” she said. “Someone there didn’t do their job.”

Planned U.S. spending in Kenya through PEPFAR dropped from $505 million in 2018 to $375 million in 2019, a decline that comes as the Trump administration seeks to reduce U.S. foreign aid around the globe. The end in blood transfusion aid was not part of the 2019 reduction in aid.

How a change in U.S. abortion policy reverberated around the globe

At Kenyatta National Hospital, baby Sheilla peered up through the folds of a blanket at her mother, Catherine Wangari, 18, who was reeling from a string of firsts: a baby, and now the big city. Conversations with nurses had left her confused, but she understood that without a transfusion, Sheilla’s jaundice could cause lasting brain damage.

Three days would pass before Wangari got the news Kenyans now receive with regularity from their public hospitals: “We don’t have blood,” she was told. “You’ll have to find it on your own.”

Relying on strangers

Half a day’s drive west, in Kenya’s Rift Valley, Amos Monoi scrolled through desperate messages on Facebook and WhatsApp.

“Kindly assist, kindly assist, we urgently need this blood group, that blood group, again and again, people pleading, begging,” said the 29-year-old university recruitment officer.

Four days before Sheilla was born, on New Year’s Day, Monoi decided he couldn’t bear to do nothing about the stream of emergencies popping up everywhere he looked. He created a Facebook group to connect people who needed the rarest blood group, O-negative, to potential donors. A day or two later, the group already had 4,000 “likes,” and Monoi’s life has since become a blur.

People need transfusions for all sorts of reasons: during childbirth, during chemotherapy, because of blood loss from an injury, for chronic conditions like leukemia and dozens more.

The shortage here has passed the burden of sourcing blood from the government onto patients. Kenyans are now confronted with appeals for blood whenever they open social media, or in messages from family and friends. There are dozens of Facebook groups like Monoi’s for each blood type.

Sheilla’s extended family ended up on Monoi’s page, where he connected them with two strangers. Relying on family and strangers in times of urgency has laced the transfusion process with greater risk than using blood banks.

“We say, ‘blood is like a parachute’ — if a doctor prescribes it and it’s not there, you will likely die,” said Joseph Wangendo, the director of the Bloodlink Foundation, one of Kenya’s biggest nonprofits dedicated to blood drives. “But the blood that is given in emergencies may not be as quality-assured as blood coming from blood banks. It doesn’t always go through the same multistep testing process, meaning that tainted blood may pass through the system.”

Govedi acknowledged the risks and said her office was working on immediate solutions to refill blood banks in a streamlined manner.

“Without a budget, however, it has been difficult to reduce the shortage,” she said. “So, yes, it is now a crisis.”
Generosity undermined by delays

International guidelines urge countries to keep enough blood for 2 percent of their population in storage — meaning that just under 1 million people could potentially need transfusions in Kenya each year. With the blood collected in 2019, Kenya has enough blood for less than a fifth of the people who could need it. To make up the gap, private citizens have had to step up.

On Sheilla’s fourth day in Nairobi and ninth day in the world, Sylvia Nguma, a suburban hotel manager, and Josphat Cheruiyot, an elementary school teacher in a slum, donated O-negative blood in Sheilla’s name at the hospital.

Nguma said she had thought about how much life Sheilla had ahead of her, and couldn’t bear to let a government failure hurt an infant. Cheruiyot said too many Kenyans believed in superstitions about blood donation — like that you can’t take blood from someone of a different ethnicity — and he wanted to prove them wrong.

“People are losing their lives,” Monoi recently said in a phone call, while juggling his day job with his newfound mission. “But we will bring our country through this difficult time.”

The generosity of it all left a mark on Sheilla’s family.

“By tomorrow, our baby will have new blood,” said a beaming Martha Wambui, 25, Sheilla’s aunt and a constant presence at the side of her sister, Sheilla’s mother. By then, Sheilla’s family had already known for a week that the baby needed a transfusion.

But instead of the long-awaited transfusion, Sheilla’s family was confronted with mounting delays and evidence of negligence.

The day after the donors came, doctors told the family that Sheilla’s blood type was in fact B-positive, not the O-negative they had mobilized for, raising the possibility of a whole new search for blood. Nurses neglected to tell them O-negative blood can be given to patients of any blood group.

Then they were told that the family would need to find their own catheter for the transfusion — the hospital didn’t have any. The item costs at least $130 in Kenya. Wambui sells fried potatoes by the roadside, and the cost was far beyond her means.

U.S. officials said that the funding discontinued last year did not at any point go toward equipment such as catheters used in transfusions in hospitals, and a spokesman for Kenyatta National Hospital claimed the catheters were only briefly out of stock.

Suddenly, the system seemed to be conspiring against Sheilla. Aggravating days passed when everything became evidence that she was being ignored: nurses scrolling through their phones, doctors sharing light conversation, the emptying out of the wards during lunch hour. Another mother passed by Wambui and Wangari in the hallway in a fit of grief after losing her own newborn.

It took two days to scrounge together the money for the catheter, but then none of Nairobi’s pharmacies had it in stock — only the fifth private hospital they tried had one left.

Even with the catheter in hand, the delays didn’t end: The senior doctor who needed to preside wasn’t in; there were other, more urgent, cases that had taken priority; and finally, the baby had eaten too recently and needed to wait until her system was cleared of food. Wangari had been feeding Sheilla at irregular times for days, trying to match up with conflicting reports from nurses about the transfusion that always seemed just about to happen.

Sheilla was transfused with a new set of blood on her 11th day in the hospital — the vials given by Nguma and Cheruiyot had since expired for use on newborns, who need blood that’s only a few days old. Her mother and aunt were exhausted when they got the doctors’ final report.

“The baby had jaundice for so long — ideally the blood transfusion would have happened much sooner. We can’t tell yet whether she will suffer from some mental defect as a result,” the doctor, Ruth Nduati, told them. “Life is not always fair — that is why we pray for the best.”

Isabel dos Santos: Banker found dead in Lisbon

There are Africans that call for the return of their colonial masters that can be held responsible since African politicians are worse. So irresponsible, these politicians are selling out everything from government corporations, parastatals, natural resources to raiding and laundering Foreign Reserves. It is nothing short of divestment by African politicians indirectly giving major shares back to the same foreign corporations and businesses, without responsibility, that had handed over during indigenization period.

Isabel dos Santos, Africa’s richest woman whose father was the President of Angola got access to lucrative deals involving land, oil, diamonds and telecoms. Another African country rich in natural resources, looted worse than Nigeria’s former Oil and Petroleum Minister, Diezani Madueke did. Isabel dos Santos and her husband were allowed to buy valuable Angola state assets in a series of deals typical in most African countries.

The total amount of foreign Investments and foreign aid coming into Africa; are dwarfed by the amount of kickbacks, obnoxious profits and money laundering leaking out of Africa legally and illegally. Each time some of the money looted by politicians and their crony businessmen are eventually repatriated; after taking out legal and administrative expenses, the returned money is looted again by successive politicians.

Nevertheless, African politicians continue to pursue foreigners to deliver them: importing experts, financial gurus and foreign portfolio investors by incentivizing them with high interest rate returns that can never be sustained and profitable for local businesses or corporations to borrow. One may wonder what types of expertise were needed that could not have been trained in any African country since Independence in 60 years!

However, training and producing these materials, know-how and experts at home would block the major loopholes for foreign contracts used by new administrations and their cronies to enrich one another. If the local money kept in reserves were invested at home, there would be no need to beg or depend on foreign Investments from outside. They bank most of their loots overseas pauperizing Africa.

Nigerian Presidential candidate Atiku like Isabel, actually boasted during the campaign that he would sell most of the parastatals as he did as Vice-President without any advantage to his country. Politicians ordered Central Bank to facilitate the transfer of parastatals for their private companies. They borrowed the money from private banks to acquire parastatals and let the banks liquidate. Central Bank then bailed them out.

Actually, so-called Foreign Portfolio Investors main job is to watch developing countries foreign reserves grow so that foreign investors can get ready to make a kill. This is why they send out newsletters about which country is ripe enough to be labeled: best place to do business, emerging markets, direct foreign Investments, the leader in 100 years and more flatteries. The local stock market would shoot up based on hot air. They would then take their profit out of the country; until the cycle is repeated again.

Why do Africans echo or rely on the hot air projections of the fox waiting to raid the chicken coop? They aid and abet the raiders for crumbs and access. Indeed, once the foreign reserve has grown large enough, super powers or corporations can just sell an old fighter jet to one African Country for use against its neighbor. It is enough to deplete a good part of their Foreign Reserves. Most African French speaking countries cannot even touch their Foreign Reserve in France without the approval of old colonial master!

Think about it. Foreigners are helping Africans deplete local foreign reserves since they know looters do not invest at home. Without killer profits, foreigners would not be rushing to Africa to make money either. But if foreign investors are given stipulations on long-term goals like infrastructure, they would label that country hostile without free market or call upon their government to sanction it. The free and fair reciprocal market they do not have in their own countries. They rig their own economy for the big boys.

Politicians are after foreign odious loans that are known to be going into private pockets. Based on some warped logic that United States the richest country in the world borrows from the Chinese, Japanese and Germans. This logic is used by Lagos to make Tinubu richer than the State itself. However, USA prints its own $100.00 bills that is worldly popular and abundant outside their country than inside. Credit worthy is not bankruptcy!

Foreign investors look out for themselves, Africa must bail itself out like other countries. USA can pay back on demand by printing more $100 bills that would be snatched up by many countries including those burying hard currencies in sewage tanks, mortuaries or transfer it to their shell companies in Panama like other billionaires hiding their money. But how acceptable are Naira, Cedi, Rand, Shillings or Zimbabwe dollar outside Africa?

It must hastily be noted that heavy government involvement in the economy apart from regulations, could be detrimental as in “government business is nobody’s business”. It is usually the functions of the private sector businesses and corporations to create jobs. The role of governments is to step in where private businesses may be overwhelmed as hospitals, schools and infrastructure. But must create an enabling environment for all.

However, if China had waited for the private sector to bail the country out of famine and poverty it suffered while Africa was flowing with milk and honey, China would not be a major competitor on the world stage with United States. China uses its influence as a nuclear power and took advantage of Western spite against Soviet Union to gain access to the Rich Countries Trade Club. Indira Gandhi, former Prime Minister of Indian, had called for the same access. Fair and free trade, not handouts.

China and India have reduced the world’s poverty by pulling many of their poor people into middle class while Africa’s poor keep on increasing. China has done so by sensible government interventions and severe punishment for corruption. On the other hand, African countries with relatively huge income had more money sucked out by Foreign Pensions and Equity Investors looking for maximum return in the shortest possible time.

Foreign Investors hardly embarked on a long-term major project like infrastructure without demanding guarantees or sureties that the same projects would revert back to foreign control if they default (always did) on the odious loans. Most loans are bribes for inflated contract between parties to employ their foreign workers as supervisors and above while Africans remain laborers. The odious loans are not only inflated, both parties anticipate defaults because they are not reasonably packaged for payback.

Therefore, it is not surprising that Chinese are taking over land and infrastructure in Zambia. Ghana sold its major Gold Industry to Foreign Investors and Nigeria’s Ajaokuta Steel Industry has never been viable. Nigeria Paris Loan Penalties and Fines Ballooned. Most of the major industries that were supposed to be major contributors to the countries’ foreign reserves have actually become a drain on Africa’s Reserves in each country by divestment.

Why Gamble African Profit Away Blackman

Dangote became the richest man in Africa by being smart, enterprising, and influencing Any Party In Power. He met money at home as one of those sons of Dantata, one of the richest men in Nigeria. Dangote turned millions into billions by being well educated and exposed to the intricacies of politics and the business world. Though each time he was approached to go into politics, he shied away. Why would he join a party when he could control any of them from a distance?

This is a man that spent some of his life abroad, studied and participated in their business process and even got burnt. He withdrew back into Nigerian business which he was more familiar with, to increase the wealth and fortune of the Dantata families. Having got to the point of becoming a billionaire and the richest Blackman in the world, we can all agree that this is an accomplishment of enormous value worthy of respect and praise he is getting today.

Unfortunately, he wants to explore the world Market again. This time putting much more money than any black man at stake made solely in Africa. Dangote needs not to be reminded of the uphill battle he faces as a Blackman in the world of international business and markets. Especially, European and American markets that are rigged in favor of the privileged big boys. There was this Nigerian on 60 Minutes some years ago that made a huge bet and won big on the Wall Street Stock Market. They refused to pay up, based on the excuse that his financial leverage or backing was not solid.

Well, Dangote is not only bankable, but he is also a billionaire with enough smart and intelligence to make it even bigger by opening offices in Europe and America. If that is all it takes, Dangote may become the biggest African abroad since Musa Kanka Musa and the Queen of Sheba, the richest humans on Earth of all time. He knows the risk he faces but sometimes most rich black folks get a little complacent in Europe and America thinking they can play by the same rules.


Unfortunately, if all it takes is African riches and intelligence, Africa would be ruling the world and not be the face of poverty today. In that case, it is incomprehensible why a man with so much equity would fall into the same trap that doomed the dreams of many Africans overseas. While it may be true that some of us may exaggerate the vestiges and repercussions of discrimination, only a naive Blackman would not be prepared for it.

Those of us that have witnessed the biggest and most successful black men and the woman pulled down for various reasons also point to those still doing well without the same form of harassment faced by other successful Africans, African/Americans or African Europeans. Indeed, any African that wants to be successful would not allow the difficulties of facing discrimination to stop him.

Yet, no Blackman or Black woman has succeeded better than Dangote outside Africa.

The price for success involves many sacrifices many Africans are willing to pay. The problem is when you get to a stage when you think nobody can touch you. Some Africans even think they are protected by all the rules and laws that protect white folks. It is a big mistake that has spelled their downfall. After all, most of us think that since we have paid our dues with blood and sweat, we should be free like anyone else.

This is how African children in Diaspora feel growing up thinking they have as much right as their white friends. We have to be factual without damaging their confidence: the system isolates them for discipline even if they are not doing anything different from their white friends right from the day they enter kindergarten to when they finish college and join the workforce. Discrimination against blacks is real throughout. But children have an inmate view of fairness and younger folks, a stronger view of right and wrong.

So, what do you need to tell a grown man like Dangote that he does not already know? Complacency! It catches up with us when we least expect it. The message to young black males from the personal encounters of Four-Star General Colin Powell (Pre. Bush Secretary of State) with the Police in America until they realize his statute and pay their respect: is to remain calm and expect some indignities. Mark Foreman, the policeman during the O.J Simpson trial said any black man driving a Cadillac without a three-piece suit was a suspect.

These facts are necessary to drive home the point that no black man or woman no matter how highly placed, would get the same treatment in business as the privileged white boys in control of every nook and corner of transactions especially in high places that control European and American wealth. The game has never changed in hundreds of years. While there is more transparency, odds against Africans have never vanished!

The first observation Dangote would notice is the difference between the African Billionaire on regular business visits and the African Billionaire hustling for more business opportunities to take them by the storm or sneakily like European explorers. Even highly recognizable personalities like Oprah and the new black Princess of England with a new baby called a derogatory name, would tell you their stories. There is no place on earth more comfortable for a rich black man or woman than Africa. Olohun!

It is so easy to forget the treatment you get outside Africa if you have returned home; only to visit Europe, America, and Asia once a while or regularly on business trips. Even then, the demeaning treatments from Immigration and Custom would make you wonder if you are really “all that” or worth the trouble. Suspicion of money laundering, cash in diplomatic bags and in the planes, with or without personal knowledge of African head of states, has eroded any benefit of the doubt accorded to African diplomats or billionaires.

More troublesome, it has lent credence to the suspicion of every black doing very well. Those with foreign passports are not exempted from shabby treatment based on the color of their skin. We can blame drug and human trafficking but those heinous crimes are easily committed by the big white boys than Africans. Africans are not the only ones committing crimes but more of their innocent people suffer ignoble treatment as a result. It is one of those penalties you take into consideration when traveling abroad.

Nevertheless, Dangote is a grown experienced man that has made a great deal of money in African countries. It would be a cold day in hell if Dangote returned to Africa with nothing after being dispossessed by the big white boys he decided to play with. When they see a rich African, they see gold, diamond, uranium, cobalt, etc. as an opportunity to make a killing. He might become another prodigal African son that lost his hard-earned money abroad!

How Business Greed Perpetrate Abject Poverty In Africa

There is no other country in the world where current politicians and their alter ego of crony businessmen steal and sell out the whole House, as they do in Africa. Most African Head of States cannot differentiate personal properties from those of the State. As far as they are concerned all the state income belongs to them while their people wallow deeper into poverty. It creates poverty that dislocate and infect folks’ mentality adversely by victimizing one another in a variety of ways.

Those that think we do not earn enough, no matter what, to provide all the infrastructure we need in every city are basing the cost of these projects on international price in Western and Asian countries that sell their products and services to Africa at padded retail prices. Chinese may give us a discount, but it is based on what Americans and Europeans would sell for. Russia is a leader in Space and Nuclear Science, based on local prices. So are China, Japan and India with local expertise. United States spends more per capita on healthcare than other countries with universal health coverage.

Imagine if a country as poor as North Korea or Iran has to buy their nuclear capability from International market? Africans buy their acquired taste of goods and services at the world market. This is then sold by business men that front as middle men and make their profit from the little spending power of poor countries. Once Africans lose control of local market prices, they must pay through their noses for acquired tastes with little left for local infrastructure expenditure.

There are formidable obstacles in place that make it more difficult to trade across our own Continent limiting local goods and services that can flourish across the countries. Inter-African trade can only become a reality if we patronize African goods and services through West, East and South Africa easier than we do through Europe, America and Asia. We always thought that commerce is only cumbersome within Africa by Air but the same is true by ship. How did we become conveyors of foreign goods across Africa?

African countries have been building projects like bridges, towers, automobiles and trains lines for over 70 years. If our engineering and environmental students had been embedded in these projects, they could have come out as competent as other world experts by now. But our politicians and business cronies prefer foreign contracts so that they can start new projects with new administration and launder our meager forex reserves abroad.

Mirrors in exchange for gold may be too far into history but you can imagine what the next generation would think about “educated” Africans exchanging uranium and cobalt for plastics as their latest prized possession. None of our Steel industries have been able to function to its capacity while steel glut hit world market. Even our oil producing countries have not been self-sufficient in finished petroleum products since the 60s!

As much as most Africans want to enjoy the low price of oil produced in their countries since it is the only item they can benefit from, the subsidy goes to the billionaires. Redistribution of the savings or rebates to the poor in need of petroleum products must be devised. Apart from the Petroleum Trust Funds under Buhari; most savings after, have been diverted to private pockets in most African countries.

Indeed, the most popular goods and services Africans trade with one another, have always been foreign products. It is not by accident that foreign rice, bottled drinks, canned fish and meat are commonly traded between African countries. We have developed another taste like most developing countries for bread and rice as staple food. Most of the wheat is imported into African countries boasting overseas production and their farmers’ income. Shortage of wheat from foreign countries equals shortage of bread locally that could turn into food protest and riot!

There is nothing wrong with genetically modified seeds if it is done locally by African universities to withstand diseases, last longer and grow abundantly faster. But if these seeds are modified by Monsanto in Europe or America and sold at international prices to our farmers, our staple meals at home have been displaced! Farmers in Indian had to mortgage their land to keep buying seeds from international corporations only to lose their only possession to banks as collateral. This is what is happening in Africa as we mortgage our future to Europe, America and Asia as we believe in ready-made imports.

God gives us our Daily Bread but not from foreign grains. Bread is made from wheat which is not indigenous to our land. We have yams, beans, millet, corn and cassava later that had been our staple food. The rich business men have always traded with the Europeans as middle men that distribute good and services made abroad or assembled in Africa. Even the canned food like fish that are caught in our waters, bought cheap (like cocoa and coffee), canned overseas and sent back to us as exotic food.

Case in point. Maize as (mieliepap/kuku) staple food or those of us that eat different garri may not notice the difference as Eba on the table. Yet people prefer to pay more for one type of garri. This is not only in Nigeria, Ghana, East or South Africa but also in Europe and America. What a difference a few decades make. Before maize and garri became readily available in Europe and America, we used to substitute maize or garri with wheatlet. Pounded yam was substituted with mashed potatoes mixed with biscuit. Can anyone from those days believe that some Africans now use wheatlet instead of the real garri, yam, corn, maize and millet in Africa? We even rejected cassava bread!



If anyone is wondering where this mentality for excessive profit to satisfy exotic tastes comes from, check the salary of politicians and money made by their cronies from inflated contracts that are hardly completed. Our poor cannot have the same spending power as Europeans and Americans since our local economy cannot bear it. It is the African privileged class that want the same spending power or more than those overseas so that they can buy whatever, anywhere. But based on African economy?

Kwame Nkrumah first tried Cocoa Cartel to increase the spending power of cocoa farmers, rather than farmers begging for necessities which is more common in developing countries. He tried to control the supply and price of cocoa so that African and South American farmers could make more money from giant international companies like Kisses producer Hershey Co., M&Ms and Snickers bars-maker Mars Inc. or Mondelez International Inc. producer of Cadbury Dairy Milk bars and Oreo cookies.

Our politicians must fight to increase the spending power of Africans, not exploit them like foreign companies that never earned foreign income for Africa. I remember a time in this Country when all the six Ministers in Jonathan's kitchen Cabinet were all Igbos.

Ayim Pius Ayim was Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Ngozi Okonjo Iweala was in charge Finance, Emeka Wogu was in Labour and Productivity, Berth Nnaji was in Power and Energy.

Dieziani Madueke was the powerful Minister for Oil.

The six of them outside the Federal Executive Council would meet and decide what and what not to be discussed at the larger FEC.

Whatever they decided would eventually be the position of Government.

In six years, this was the situation.

Okiro and Onovo had the Police under their control.

Ihejerika and later Minimah controlled the Army.

These powerful Igbos could do and undo.

Nigeria was in their pockets.

Rather than care about the poor Igbo chaps scattered all over the Country, they were busy diverting Billions of Naira into their accounts at home and abroad.

The Second Niger Bridge, they didn't do. They shared the money.

The Lagos/Calabar rail lines passing through nine States, three of them in the South East, they were not bothered.

They refused to pay the Chinese the Counter part fund. They shared the money.

Enugu/Onitsha, Aba/PH and other roads of economic importance to their fellow Igbos, they abandoned them.

Who is to blame ?

Who is marginalising the Igbos ?

You had your chance, you bungled it.

There was only one Yoruba Minister worth mentioning at the time, Akinwunmi Adesina.

He was in Agriculture. His budget was less than 1% while Emeka Wogu in Labour had over 10% for his Ministry.

Ayim had unlimited access to the treasury for the benefit of himself and Family members.

The poor Igbo guys meant nothing to him.

If an Igbo becomes President tomorrow after Jonathan, will there be any difference ?

Buhari Make Up Your Mind Jor

There are many of us interested in mature women over the age of 30, not those younger ones. Those can be annoying and a turn-off for older mature men. We understand all the reasons some older men go for young girls, but they do not appeal to men like us. We like mature ladies. Too many young men cry that older men are taking over their young mates. Please do not lump all these men together. Some of us have taste and recognize a good gem as Sadiya Umar Farouk.

There is something charming about older or mature women. They want to enjoy men, not fight them. Most mature women know what they want in life. They are done with those men playing games, they have grown into a career they want and are independent enough not to be a burden on any man. Yes, there are few regrets about a few nice guys they could have paid more attention to and others they have turned down because those did not meet their standard.

Moreover, mature women's careers are very important to them. It is true that if some have to do it all over, they would have given up their careers for that one guy they remember very well. But then, he later got married to someone else. So, life continues. There is no reason or enough time to cry over missed opportunities. Let us be frank, nobody has it all. The imagined picture of a super woman with multiple arms is a lie just as that of a superman.

So Buhari we have waited long enough. If any of us get that pretty lady while you are waiting to strike or undecided, tell your military henchmen to back off. There should be no surveillance, harassment or maiming of any man that values a beautiful woman in his life and cannot wait to go for Sadiya, a mature pretty lady for that matter.

However, we have seen the long list of items Africans in general as Nigerian parents demand from the suitors of their daughters. As if those items are not discouraging enough, we have also seen the videos of parents asking how many lashes of koboko a man can take before they will give out their daughters. Kai! Drain a man’s savings and/or dislocate him with koboko!

Seriously? You really mean to bankrupt a man before he enjoys a loving relationship with your daughter. By the time he took so many strokes of koboko on the back, the main instrument in front would have been rendered useless and bankrupt. On the other hand, if he has to pay for all the items demanded on the list, there is nothing left to feed your daughter. In other words, the suitors of your daughters would be castrated physically and financially before marriage.

Therefore Buhari, make your first move now or forever stay clear. We know you were a General in the Army and a rich man after that since you claim you can now afford to enjoy Western luxuries. Your designer pair of shoes have been pointed out lately, abi na Okrika made sef? If you go first we may see how Buhari “a frugal man” would pay or give away all the items on the list, not to even think about who would dare use that koboko. Buhari we dare you, you go first!

We heard of all those stories that Aisha Buhari is adamantly against it. Haba Aisha, let the man enjoy small nah. You want to be the only one married to the Head of State, the General Military Ruler that gave us Operation War Against Indiscipline (WAI), and the Chairman of Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF). Aisha, abeg don’t be selfish, allow another man daughter to enjoy small nah!

But Buhari’s loss of Sadiya Is another man's gain. There are some graceful Africana about the way Sadiya walks, the way she talks, the way she looks and the whole African moves. Aisha, if China with 1.2b people can institute death penalty for looters, Nigeria with 1.8m people can do the same for looters and let Free Press reign.

If just one of us has his way with Sadiya, everybody will be happy: Buhari will be glad that he has not disappointed his extended family that are behind this since he has no interest in Sadiya, Aisha will be happy and Sadiya will be happy too. Can anybody think of a better solution?

It sounds like a curse

They are not as stupid as ethnic sympathizers, they will target you as Africans, jail you, seize your loot and ban you from entering their countries again. It only makes sense that if allowed, you will turn their countries into the same jungle of abject poverty you come from. How many crooks do you know that are bent on paying any price, even jail time abroad to deplete all the foreign income of their countries just to get high for appearing on the Forbes List?

Africans have never had such callous humans from within.

What do they do with the money laundered? They first pay exorbitant fees to lawyers and accountants that help them hide blood money in legitimate banks, offshore companies in the Caribbean countries, buy humongous houses attracting high taxes for schools and roads they refused to build or maintain in their own countries, put in orders for exotic cars parked in houses where girlfriends and house-helps enjoy one another. Each time they jet out of Africa, they check their accounts with a smile of a job well done.
