Been having this stuff with my 2012 corolla ....
The noise lasts for a while steaming the engine very early and disappears when immediately D is engaged . I also noticed the rattling is more on Monday since i use the car to go to the office only hence its Idle weekends.

API SF should be a 1988 oil. I mean oil for engines built till 1988.

check charging voltage with and without load.
Stop buying substandard bulbs Buy toks they are cheap and last long, in accessories that do not require a lot of illumination you can use led bulbs , , fasten the accessories with faulty bulbs firmly so they don't hang loose. Put the right air pressure in tyres, too much air will mean too much shock on potholes.

I asked highway or town trips because most users report that it does not short oil in the city but on the express. Others report that once you drive at sustained speeds above 100km they begin to notice oil consumption.

On another thread you are asking for the price if that engine.

My advice: unless you can certify that the engine has been rebuilt to resolve the factory error of too tiny piston ring oil return holes that tend to clog a problem that resolved in the 2003 model, find a good course to donate that money to, it will make you feel better than the rigmarole you are about to enter.

Whatever you were told is immaterial, now you know why the former owner got ride of the vehicle.

Very true...your vehicle and indeed all vehicles using the same engine suffer from this debilitating problem.

The solution is not to buy a tokunbo engine - because all those engines (or nearly all those engines) are faulty.

Two solutions:

1. Keep checking and topping oil religiously, not every 500 miles but at every fuel top up, or if you are paranoid every morning.

2. Rebuild the engine

My Recommended solution: rebuild the engine

There may be a third solution - how ethical it is depends on who is at the receiving end of it - dispose the vehicle - your vehicle, your call.

Should you use 20W50?

It depends on who you ask.

Here is my take on the matter: It will mask the problem, but not solve it - there is a word for it, yea I remember, a band-aid like someone who has ulcer taking panadol, does it eliminate the problem? No! Does it make it seem that the problem has gone away? yea!

How bad is your oil consumption?

1 qt. per 250 miles?
1 qt. per 500 miles?
1 qt. per 750 miles?

1.5 qt. per 500 to 750 miles?

2.0 qt. per 500 to 750 miles?

We need raw data to tell you exactly what is wrong? And how bad things are?

Do you a lot of highway driving(high speed drives) or city trips (slow speed drives)?


I am going to go against the grain of conventional advice on nairaland...use 5w30 but monitor religiously your oil consumption, you have got an oil burner on your hands.

If you have detailed statistics on the situation, my advice will change from being generic to specific to your exact circumstances.

Good morning everyone, i will make it short, on my way to work this morning, after climbing a bump I noticed that the gear suddenly didnt respond, as if the gear is in neutral. I parked and switched off the engine, restart and engage the gear yet the car didn t move. I 've called my mechanic to check it while I join a cab to work. Gear hasn't been worked on before, gear oil is intact (faint pink). Please any suggestion because I don't trust all these kazeems. Car is corolla sport 04. c.c Gazzuzz, autologic, deportivo.

Why not see a Urologist to help on this,a normal semen should either be gray or white by color.

You may be interested to know yellow colouration of the semen may be linked with;

1. A high level of white blood cells in your semen-leucocytospermia.

2.non-assymptomatic prostate infection.

3. increase alcohol and drug use

4.Benign prostate hyperplasia.

5. Urine mixing with your semen

6.Jaundice.

Quickly make an appointment with a doctor, he may have to examine you properly and proffer test and corrective measures to a normal urine property.
