your last paragraph was contradictory. if the dead is in heaven, y ressurect the body again?
I am raising this issue that we may learn and abide by the truth.

apostle paul wrote in 1corth15:22-23 "for as in adam all die, even so in christ all shall be made alive, but each in his own order, Christ the firsth fruit and they that are His at His coming" what does that imply?

Rev20:4-5 " they came to life and reigned with christ for a thousand years" verse 11  mentions a great white throne judgement. in verse 12"and I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God and books were opened. And another book was opened which was the book of life. and the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the book"

notice that the bible kept calling them dead, because that is their state before the judgement.

Nigeria might have every symptom of a failed state, none the less, attempts to ressucitate it or ameliorate the living conditions of her people can only succeed if the causes of yester-years woes are clarified.

Nigeria has had 11 heads of goverment since independence, yet it has been one tail of mismanagement to another. No doubt the country has had disciplined leaders like murtala and buhari, maybe even shagari and ekwueme (buhari`s probe alledgedly found them poorer than when they were in office), but none of them has been charismatic enough to either have disciples who share the same goal or instill long lasting policies and pro-people measures that can stand the test of time. fate, circumstances and events readily shove them aside.

An average nigerian will readily claim that our past leaders are to blame for our numerous woes, but if 10 people can fail to suceed, then maybe its more than a conspiracy, maybe its the system.

the biggest component of this system is the society, where you and I (nigerians) are members of. the society today has "yahooze" as its popular song. the society doesnt ask you how you got your money ?, only what you do with it. that way we encourage those abroad to commit fraud. we have a "get rich quick mentality" where politics is the most rewarding business you can do.

I am not and will not in any way justify the conscious evil and attrocities a selected few have done to this country, in their capacities as our leaders, but will want us to re-examine the root of it all.

these leaders in my opinion are products of a system. a system that rewards wealth not dignity. A man handed power over willingly to civillians in his military capacity as head of goverment. he was roped in a phantom coup and subsequently jailed for life. he was released and later became president. I don't know what other motivation a man can have to suceed (when he later became president) other than that. he had N20k in his account in 1999, today he is accused of stashing billions away. y? because he learnt that if he ever gets broke again outside office, he is as good as forgoten. if obj is greedy and mad, is abacha, ibb, abdusalami, gowon, shagari also mad people? if so, how come we are a country blessed with mad leaders?

you can only give what you have. though a president without university education will consider it no big deal if ASUU strikes for a year. but you musnt be president or govenor before you make a +ve impact. dora akinluyi is a ready example.

while it is the function of goverment to create jobs, it is that of labour unions to ensure that chinese firms don't pay our people N20 per hour. have they been up to it? and numerous other ways we can improve our country in private capacities. it evolves around the system.

a system that fights curruption and not prevent it, a society that celebrates debauchry and calls a man its "messiah" 6 months into office. 47 years after independence the biggest issue in our political circle is zoning. "the ibos have not produced the president or the south south". a system where political contests are all about personalities clashes and not issues. a system that requires you to spend billions before you can serve your fatherland as president.

would buhari have contested against obj in 2003, if obj had not cancelled PTF? would AC have been formed if obj and atiku`s ambitions had not clashed?. true to fact, I do not know who won the last elections (because obviously I am not Iwu), but i think i know who lost. the nigerian electorate, nigerian people lost the elections. none of the candidates discussed issues, it was all about "u want 3rd time, i no gree. u are a thief, i am not. u b ibo, i b hausa".

the average nigerian has a "messiah" mentality. he expects someone to come from no where, kill all the past and present political and over bearing traditional leaders. and then makes nigeria a paradise on earth.
good idea------- but guess what he is doing about it? he is simply praying! we have refused to put our fate in our own hands, only expecting the nigerian "mesiah".

there has never been a change in the pattern of (bad)leadership in any part of the world, except there is a militant, intellectual or aggressive) demand. ours is a society content with watching our leaders (mis)manage us.

we refuse to ask questions about how we are governed, and when we do (like the media sometimes do), we refuse to set yardstick for success, failure of perfomance.

yaradua and whoever succeeds him, cannot benefit the lot of the masses as long as they are products of a system that makes it possible for one man to steal N10b at a go, a system that is devoid of moral, traditional and family values.

Many self-proffessing christians readily claim that once a person dies in the Lord, he readily goes to heaven, yet they still believe in ressurection of the dead. some say both happens, but how can that be?

assuming one dies and goes to heaven, what will be ressurected since the person is already in heaven?

no doubt this is one of the most controversial subjects facing christiandom today.

No where in the old testament was the reward of obidience to God--- a place in Heaven. Jesus even clarified this in John 3vs13 "no one has ascended into heaven but He who came down from it", john 11vs25 "I am the ressurection and life, he who believes in me, though he may die, but he shall live". yet he made refrences to the kingdom of heaven in his numerous parables. God is definitely not the author of confusion, but if Jesus said this, where then is David, abraham, elijah, enoch, Moses and other prophets of old including the apostles of Christ?.

Job pondered in job14vs14, " if a man dies, shall he live again?", he answers himself in verses 14 and 15.
revelation20 gives a vivid account of a ressurrection and that Christ will reign on planet earth for a thousand years, with the saved.
yet our pastors and preachers teach of a reign in heaven.

sincerely, what do you think, do the dead in Christ go to heaven or await ressurection?

while it is safe (on your part) to limit my opinion to african leaders. you must however understand that the rule of law as it should is prevalent in other societies outside africa and their political differences is not personal or as a result of a clash in ambition. theirs is as a result of difference in ideas, thats why their loosers congratulate winners.

but if they throw decorum to the wind like we do, the same things will happen over there.
so for clarity and emphasis i repeat myself "no leader will willingly relinquish power when faced with a threat of going to jail, regardless of his status ( guilty or not)"

i can't but agree with you. the only thing i don't understand is how raila could have almost won. because as afr as i m concerned kibaki did a lot in 4 years. he minimised corruption, provided free primary education and enabled a conducive business environment. infact literate sentiments are on his side.

societal factors and the prevalant system go a long way in determining the electoral future of any nation.

raila odinga supported kibaki to defeat moi in the previous election, they both formed goverment, with raila serving as a minister. they only fell apart when raila wanted to be the prime minister in the proposed constitution, which kibaki turned down. raila campaigned against the adoption of that constitution in the refrerandum, his camp won and that commenced the beginin of his campaign.

my point is moi was defeated because the kibaki campaign was issue based. he said he had nothing against moi but wants an end to institutional curruption and implement free basic primary education and also provide basic amenities.

he won and moi (the incubent congratulated him).
the performance of kibaki is subject to debate but i know that raila odinga "lost" the election some two months ago by saying that regardless of what happens when he bcoms president kibaki and moi will go to jail, cos moi jailed his father.

i wont justify the electoral manipulation in kenya or the subsequent violence, but this is all what you get when political differences is as a result of personalty or ambition clashes and not difference in ideas as evident in the obj and atiku saga.

no leader will willingly relinquish power when faced with a threat of going to jail, regardless of his status ( guilty or not)

lets put aside all primordial sentiments and tribalistic injunctions.

In analysing MKO, don't forget that no one is pure or clean perse. because we all are from planet earth. but considering the fact he is the only one to have run an issue-based campaign in modern nigeria. as you would agree with me that subsequent elections has been all about zoning to south east, south south or north.
Abiola slogans and campaign messages still ring in the ears even till today.

lets answer the simple question,  if he meant well considering his philantropic nature, would he have achieved?
why would IBB refuse to let him rule if he was that bad? or abacha jail him?

in clear terms, tell us what factors would make him perform or not.

I think these are the neccessary questions we must answer in propagating the future we all want for our beloved nigeria.

No doubt MKO abiola was what many in his generation were not: A business mogul, a magnanimous philanthropist and a well meaning nigerian. He was also an ardent supporter of sports in Africa. an industrialist, a large employer of labour and a people's man.

So much has been said and unsaid about this great man. I believe he is one of the greatest Nigerians ever to live.

But the question is, considering his military connections and dealings, and the fact that he is a product of the "Nigerian factor" (contracts, ITT, oil blocks, et all) would MKO Abiola have made a difference as a Nigerian president had the elections not been annulled? Or would he have been a farce like the rest of them all?
