But since it is about issues that others have adequately addressed, then I can only add if and when necessary.
you are right, its not a personality contest, its all about issues and about our beliefs

PoliticsRe: If You Were The President Of Nigeria. by noetic(m): 7:22pm On Jan 12, 2008
As president of Nigeria. I understand that several institutions make up the fedration and my efforts and intentions can only b for the benefit of Nigerians, if they are supported by other democratic institutions. like the legislature, judiciary, state goverments, security institutions, labour, nafdac, Son,INEC to name a few. Each element of the fedration must rise up to its duties.

In essence, I mean for instance, while it is my duty as head of the fedral govt to provide employment opportunities for nigerians, it is the duty of labour to ensure that these employers(especially the chinese) don't under pay Nigerians and that conditions of service meets prescribed national standard. the same with SON and NAFDAC with standard of these goods and other institutions of government.

in other words, I mean having square pegs in square holes.

the overall goal of such goverment will be to
1). "return the dignity in being a nigerian".
2). total development, employment and empowerment.

how?
1). Set up a tenders board like the constitution emphasizes to award contracts independently. Merge EFCC, ICPC and the Code of conduct bureau together. Propose a bill to make it mandatory for the transaction of any out-gone government at any level to have their transactions reviewed.

Prevent corruption instead of fighting it. Like I believe that any system that allows a person to be able to steal billions is faulty. This will be done by setting up a commission whose sole duty is to
a) ensure that the process for the award of contracts at all levels, arms and department of government meets certain prescribed standards.
B) ensure that this contracts are actually carried out.
C). the commission is empowered by law to know the details of every state government and the fedral govt`s purpose for their security votes.
D). financial transactions of all levels and dept of govt is closely monitored. Implying that they have the right to freeze and de-freeze any of such accounts.
E) in situations where state governments accounts are frozen, the immediate responsibility of the commission shall be the civil-service. Neaning that at all times pensions and salaries of civil servants nation wide must be paid promptly. It is a criminal offence not to do such.

2). Break up the Julius-berger construction monopoly, dangote food monopoly and the virgin airlines airways monopoly.
The breakdown of the berger monopoly, will mean that indigenous  construction companies all over the country will have equal opportunities with the tenders board to get road and housing construction contracts. They (contract package) include street lights, emergency hospitals on inter-state (trunk A) roads and police posts.

This contracts will include long term maintenance contracts, to be handled by the same construction companies, which will also include facilities for the emergency hospitals and the police posts.

The dangote monopoly will be broken, to enable stiff competition and transparency.

VAT on all imported food products will be as much as 50%. Governments policy of 5 years tax exemption for new companies will b scrapped. Y? because u only pay taxes if u make profit. No genuiue investor will prefer tax exemption to adequate infrastructure.

Thousands of acres of land will be sold to Nigerian investors in all states of the fedration for use as farmland with fedral assistance in set-up and financial management.

There will be a programme called IPS (immediate purchase scheme) meaning that regardless of the factors of demand and supply, whatever u produce (in excess) will be bought by the fed govt. this can be stored, or used in form of foreign aid to less priviledged African nations. Emphasis will be laid on cocoa, palm kernel, groundnut, rubber etc. These farms are to be self sufficient in terms of power supply (wind power).

While virgin airways will continue as Nigeria`s official national carrier, flight-frequencies will however be awarded to indigenously owned airlines to attractive nations all over the world.

4).Award of cleaning contracts to cleaning agencies to maintain public infrastructure like airports, seaports and other fedral public proprerties. NDDC will be scrapped. The priorities of local governments will be reviewed.

A fedral ministry of local government will be established simply to ensure that this tier of government is snatched back from the grip of  state governors. They are to be pre-occupied with basic things as sanitation and national logistics, enabled by the fedral min of national planning.

The fedral min of nat planning shall embark on a nation scale registration and planning scheme (which will be continuos). This exercise shall serve as voters registration, national population census, street and road identification exercise. This exercise will enable the fedral government plan for healthcare delivery, provision of housing and free-education facilities. It will also help in answering certain ethnic, religious and socio-political questions.

5) the constitution of Nigeria does not empower the fedral government to get involved in primary education. The fedral ministry of local governments shall ensure that

Qualitative primary education is among the priorities of each local govt. at the fedral level 6 higher institutions will be established annually, till we have a new one in each of the 36 states of the fedration. Existing ones will be rehabilitated and made research oriented. Education is free.
Each university must provide accommodation facilities for its students. Each university cannot admit more than the quota. Each science studying student will earn N20k monthly all others N15k monthly. Certain criteria will be set by each university for students to continue to earn such.
The source of this funds, I will subsequently explain.

For now, this is what I can state, whenever I am able to I intend to complete this. Some of the other things I will highlight on includes, policing, petroleum, national finances, privatisation, foreign policy, welfare programs, electioneering, transportation power-supply.

But the above was decided based on the following convictions:

1).it is less expensive to prevent corruption than fight it.
2). If reviewing every past governments actions and/or inactions is legallized, then no
One will claim being witch-hunted.
3).the success or failure of any country is a product of how well its institutions function and are passionate about it.
4). Every monopoly be it in the public or private sector is a potential avenue for corruption.
5). Massive employment is achievable through large scale public-private infrastructure works.
6). As a nation intending to develop, we mustn’t be afraid of the truth. Lets know our numbers, d population of each ethnic and religious groups.
7) free affordable, qualitative education is an essential ingredient to national development.

I will paste more programmes as soon as I am chanced to write them. For now, these are my ideas
Cheers kiss

: Is Isa of Qur'an different from the Jesus of the Bible? Are they not from Mariam, the Young Virgin from Jesrusalem, under the guardianship of Zachariah, the father of John, who the Christians call the 'Baptist?' If the assertion of slave position of Isa of the Qur'an is correct, then we truly have One God. If the assertion of part god position of Jesus of the Bible is correct, then we truly have Multiple Gods. Please what do we have One God or More than One God?
you as a muslim, you are a slave. If u tell me Isa is a slave, I wont dispute u, it only confirms my opinion that u re conflagrament of contradictions. if your koran says He wasnt created (kun faya kun), I wonder what puts him in the same category as you, a bloody slave!.
don't mix your faith with mine, I am an heir of the Father, by the grace of the Son. You are a slave with no access to the Father. wether u serve one God or several gods, like I always say, u re responsible for what u believe.

olabowale:
It seems as this guy has so much respect for Jesus than God the Creator of Jesus!

olabowale:
Evidently, if you think that the 13 years of oppression in Makka and the first 2 years of no fights that followed in Madina, did not show any restraints, since you do not believe that was peace seeking Prophet, then tell me what a Prophet to do when his Lord commands him to fight? Remember Moses in the Bible? Did he have any choice in the matter? My man you should be asking this same questions you are asking the fragmented muslims, who are not calling for the Unity of Muslims worldwide, to the Christian nations which make it their callings to bring the fights, no 'democracy/ freedom and spread of liberty to the world. If this is true, you will not be preaching Jesus to the vanguished, in Afghanistan, Irag and whereever!
you a are typical nigerian, who always adduce reasons for failure. You can go to the marines, to defend the reasons for your violent religion called Islam which is prevalent even till today.
I don't know of any Christian nation on earth, but of I know of absolute Islamic nations where christianity is a crime. please state your facts about any Christian nation, that I may learn.
Even as a "sango worshipper" (God forbid I am one), I would prefer democracy, where I have a say, to the fuher like regimes in middle east islamic nation.

olabowale:
When they do it, in todays world, they keep the jesus under wrap! This is the hypocracy of your people and the religion that elevated a man to god! There is no truth that comes out of any falsehood. It is true you have individually good people in it, but the collective agenda nd religion is to the shayatin! Of course we have evil people in Islam too. Look at Abacha and Babangida, to just name a few that you will be very familiar with, as Nigerian! But has not heard of Timothy McVay, the foundamentalist
u sound confused huh
please find out what their secret is in keeping Jesus under wrap and apply the same to the attrocities, muslims commit on humanity in the name of islam.
and please enlighten us more with what timothy mcvay did in the name of Jesus with links. I don't want to disregard u as an empty barrel.

olabowale:
If Christianity is peace, then why all the present day wars? Why did we have the Crusades to Jerusalem? Why the many incursionsto black nations; colonizations, etc? Why indeed slvery to the 'new worlds?' Why the Bible on one hand and the Sword on another? Let the religion stands on its own, without the cajoling and the naked white women, showing there cleavages in there tatooed bodies, to the salivating ignorant Africans; believing that "White people are god on earth!" This is why Christianity had failed with the enlighted Jews, even as your god jesus is from their very tribe! They rejected him. Of course, somebody will tell be that there are Jews for Jesus today. I already know that: the same way we have Jews practicing Buddhism, etc, etc! Some will fall through the cracks. We always have the ones who are marching to a drum of different beats, going against the grains!
you must be a bad student of history grin
wars, slave trade, colonization and neo-colonization all predates Jesus.
as for the jews, please be intelligent enough to know that religion is about choice.

olabowale:
You had become the Judge, the Jury and the executioner! What there to do? If you expect a Muslim to take up Christianity, you are only dreaming! Which Bible to choose, from the tens of thousands in the ages, which one is the real Bible? Am only asking and I already have my answer: Zero!
not at all, I am only emphassising that crimes have been commited against humanity in the name of Islam in the acient past and it is unfortunately continuing in form of terrorism, even in this age of civilization.
and No, I don't expect u to be a xtian, the bible says "omo egbe oni sa layi segbe".

stick to the koran, I will stick with my bible.
to me, JESUS is the Son of God!

@ricadelide

I have intentionally stayed out of this "spirit" thing, because as far as I am concerned it is a deviation from the main thread.
but putting into cognizance the scriptures you guys have used I can state that bobbyaf is right. y?

re-read your bible, (especially the quotations u made) the spirit can be interpreted to mean two things

1). the breadth of life  as bobbyaf stated.
2) the state of man that provides unhindererd communication with God.

go and re-read genesis1 and 2.
every thing God made were called "living creatures" including man.
but His breadth came into man, and made man reflects God`s image (a spirit being).

God told Adam and eve in genesis that they would die, the day they eat the forbidden fruit.
u know the story, they ate it.  but guess what. they died on that day
because on that day, they lost all forms of communication with God. they lost a God who strolled to them every evening, to play with his creatures. it was that gap Jesus came to bridge.

In every other biblical context where the spirit has been defined, as though distinct from the body. It has always been in communication with God. john recieving reavelation and paul being held up in tha 3rd heavens.
and In other contexts where the spirit has been used, it is a definition of man`s inherent  instincts. please look up the definition of instincts.

@ricadelide, Tayo-D, Pilgrim.1 et al
you guys really need to get your facts straight. Read your Bibles very well and listen to what it says as it says it; not trying to interpret it to fit in with whatever your Pastor said. The Bible is always clear in its statements, it only requires u to search it out. My advise? go over your scriptures again with a pre-formed bias to anything and you just might understand those scriptures.

@all
always let the Bible interpret itself. It can do so better than any book or any Pastor, no matter how highly placed or popular he is, has written because the difference is this: the books are written by these pastors but THE BOOK, The Bible is God's living and active word.
I can only hope that they (pilgrim and tayo-d) can see it , as it is, and not as a pastor says it. you are responsible for what u believe.

@pilgrim and tayo-d

you have successfully deviated from this beautiful thread. both of you promised to bombard us with biblibical analyses of what I and bobbyaf are not getting on this ressurection issue.

like I said, stop applying logic, use biblibical context.

through my posts I have emphasised to u that:
Jesus said in simple hebrew, interpreted to english that no one has gone to heaven. john3vs13
peter said in simple hebrew interpreted to english that David has not gone to heaven. acts 13vs22, acts 2:29-34
paul said in simple hebrew interpreted to english that none of the faithfulls have recieved the promise of eternal life. he also said his reward comes on that day.

@topic
A lot of time I am amazed, stupyfied and left in bewedilment at the level of publicity the ijaw nation or the niger-delta continues to generate for itself of it percieved lack of development.

My question is what does the niger-delta lack that any other state in nigeria, be it north or south, pocesses in abundance?

the problems of nigeria and nigerians is the same, common and it all has one denominator. they claim to provide 90% of nigerias wealth. true, but oil has been the major source of our underdevelopment over the years. since the advent of oil, nigeria has stopped producing palmkernell, groundnut and cocoa at the detriment of national development and industrilization.

If the ijaws claim to produce the bulk of the nations wealth, what was the nation feeding on b4 the advent of oil?.

a lot of people come out every day, claiming to be activists, propagating the development of the ijaw nation. some as terrorists called militants, others as political arrivistes called "whatever" with greedy intentions and inactions all at the detriment of the common man. busy stealing oil for personal purposes.

no problem is exclusive to the niger-delta. seek for the solution of national problems and stop chasing shadows.

Bankole01:
Nigeria is such a giant of Africa, that the criminals feel above the law and actually lay down rules for the government and citizens.
Consider the case of Ateke Tom, saying he is declaring curfew in Port Harcourt and everyone should be indoors by 9pm or he would kill them! Most of this area of the Niger Delta have been overrun by criminals masquerading as freedom fighters, with the connivance and enabling of the area's governors.

Armed robbers way people, banks and whole neighborhoods for hours on end, without any response from the police.
Sometimes, they even have the audacity to write to their victims, letting them know what day and time they would arrive!

The government leaders of various arms of government, simmply convert their wards' allocations, to their private property. We have governors who steal billions, without batting an eye or feeling any remorse!

The president of the last administration (Obasanjo) simply highjacked his party and filled several States offices with hoodlums, to do his evil bidding!
He with the help of his vice (Atiku), simply divided the nations possesions among friends, allocating tyo themselves, whatever they can get away with.
He obeyed rules and laws, when it suited him, using his yes man of an attorney general to interpret the laws that only explained his criminality!

To top it all, he used a so-called independent election body, to organise and (s)elect more bandits into political offices, imposing a clueless president on a perplexed nation!

Police on the streets, have turned to day-light robbers, who waylay the hapless citizens, harrasing and taking whatever they wish, without anyone doing a thing about it. They would turn good laws, usside down, interpreting them to take advantage of a populace, afraid to desent, for fear of dear lives, (what with accidental discharges)!

Area boys and touts have simply highjacked neighborhoods, imposing their own laws and rules on motor parks and markets. They have defacto final says on who advertizes and how much they are to pay.
The politicians use them to harrass opponents and rigging elections.

School children no longer have any fears of teachers. They simplpy beat or kill them, when they don't get their way. This is a new way of throwing tantrums!
The citadels of higher learning, have become glorified brothels, where the women dress like little whores, waiting for pot-bellied men to pick them up for whatever they need. A festering pool of AIDS and other STDs.
The boys are no better than ill-trained hoodlums and cult memebers who see nothing bad in killing, armed robbery and instruments of chaos and destruction!

Parents no longer have any say in what their children do or wear. drugs have overrun the nation, bribry and corruption has become a fabric worn without shame, it has permeated every strata of work and play, their are no demacation lines anywhere!

In all these, churches and mosques are springing up in every corner and houses, you will think people are more religious and drawing nearer to God, but the opposite is the answer.
Relion and selling God, has simply become another form of commerce. All types of shady crooks have become pastors, bishops, general overseers, apostels, alfas, imams, or whatever title suit their fancy, to further fleece the already poor citizens.

Church and mosque leaders no fly in helicopters and own private planes, and have become super stars to be revvered and sang praise songs to. They have overtaken Jesus and Muhammad in popularity. They have simply become demi-gods, chalatans and demagouges!

The only thing we seem to do right, is to campaign, talk, debate and probe on end, without instituting any solutions.
Nigeria. I hail thee and lament for thee,

I asked a simple question,
noetic:
what difference does this make? huh
you gave a simple answer!

Bankole01:
Intelligence can be a secret until one opens his/her mouth, or tries to write something!
my opinion
while the measure of intelligence is subject to personal opinion,
your beclouded logical sense of comprehension is overwelming, even to the oxyMORONS.

you gave an indicting topic, but only presented the charges and offered no opinion.
so my asking you to offer your opinion first, is unintelligent, ha-ba, i wonder if u know wat intelligence is?

too bad, you thought you could spoon feed us with your next to nonesense and thoughtless gibberish. but we know better
WE all know there is corruption in 9ja, we suspect certain people behind it, but please dont open your mouth if u have nothing to offer.
