tchigofigo: is allen fit enof 4 a start? I wish alberto can step up d plate..n per4m in dt central role..cos gerrard'l realy b exposed 2day..

I think that Gerrard knows how hard this game will be on him today since Lucas is out. But if you watch the new pattern - 3-4-1-2. Liverpool needs someone who can switch a long and accurate pass to our attackers for possible counter attack when the opposition is pressing in our own center half. I am not sure hendo or Alberto can do that since their style of play are more of short passes.

I think if Allen is fit to play today, he will be on the number 10 role. If not I will like to see more of Alberto today and possibly Ibe - in second half

This match is a must win for Liverpool. I don't know how the mid-field will look like. May be Steve G and Herdo in defensive midfield while Allen or Moses behind our two attacking power house (SAS).

ayodinho91: which book are you using for Android development. Thanks in advanced

My Third Android App Coming Soon

This android application will help you flash a number automatically. It will automatically drop the call before the receiver picks the call.

You can set when you want to flash a number using a timer and it will automatically do the job for you. It also come with automatic repeating flashing with a time interval you set.

Although this will not be use to upset some people but sometimes we can't help bump flashing some people.

Kennyinusa: Info to everyone that's planning on applying for MTN NextApp Challenge

According to what i there reps said at the Info Session at CCHub, your app should only be found on the nextapps.mtnonline.com at least for the period of the competition. You app shouldn't be on Google's Play store or any other store.

I could not found any link in their website that supports this claim.

DharkPoet: Hope I'm not digressing from the main topic, but I guess I could get help here, please the Android Virtual Device takes eternity to load, any solutions to this? and nollyj, do you use the Android Virtual Device, or you test on a physical device straightaway?

AVD is always slow and the system I am using is not as fast as I would have wish. So I usually test with my android device and occasionally test with AVD.

Try what GideonG has recommended.

authurowen: I am in need of a PHP Developer to take on some of my projects. I am a Developer my self and these days have too much on my plate than I can handle.

I am willing to sub-contract some of the projects to the right developer.

Send me an email with a brief intro about your self, skills and projects you've worked on and rate. I will be sure to get back to you.

If you do not have Codeigniter experience but you are a good PHP developer, still contact me.
I will like to put together a small team as well.

I have the skills and will be willing to work with you if the terms are ok. I think different project requirements will have different cost.

^^^ I think Dual Core said he has found a temporal solution for the time been.

Javanian: Do Nigerians ever pay for apps

MTN app store is a total waste of time...Use Google PlayStore for all your apps...

This is very insightful. Thanks for breaking it down in a perfect way.

skoten: @nolly app; Good job,i like to see Android developer doing creative and nice apps,its good! Am also an Android app developer,i started like 3 months ago,i have my two apps on MTN App Play too (LIRS Tax Calculator,Naija CookBook and Muslim Names With Meaning).

I will like us to work together on a project if u r interested ,u can send me a mail to skotsolutions@yahoo.com

I have some questions for you about MTN app store

1. I have not used MTN App store before but I am planning to use it for my current app. The problem I have seen on their app store is that there is no download count for each app for users to see just only review.

2. Do your app get many downloads from their store?

3. Is their apps basically download by Nigerians and Africans?

4. Do major percentage of Nigerians pay for apps in their store.

I look forward for your reply and I hope that this information will help others planning to launch their apps

alcuin: Hello all....

Any help on how to install my phone(android, tecno n3) drivers on Windows 8?? I have the android ADT installed and the emulator is dog slow. I have also download the drivers, but it's in a rar file, after extracting it I can't seem to understand how to continue with the installation as I was hoping to see a .exe file. Can anyone help

@OP, your apps are nice. Keep the good work.

Thanks......

I could not tried the installation you are talking about since my operating system is Windows Vista so I am sure if I can help you out but I hope others that are using windows 8 will do.

All the best

@Dual Core,
I just tried your code and I was able to produce the result show on the attached image.

I also add this code snippet to get the width and height boundaries of the text.

$width = abs($lineSize[4] - $lineSize[0]);
$height = abs($lineSize[5] - $lineSize[1]);

$x = $width/2;

$y = $height/2;

//echo $x

I found that the output result of the width boundary of each text varies since there are not of the same length.

49 58.5 52.5 38 30 34.5 25.5 25.5 39 39 39 39 30 34.5 30 16.5 12 12 39.5 44 49 50.5

I think for the text to be centered or align-center, you can also return the width boundary of each text and compute the center positioning of the text with the main image width.

This is my thought. I will give it a try after champions league.

Javanian: may be it is because it is not in English

I think the store listing header information is in Swedish but the application name and description is in English. I have checked with my phone and laptop. I don't think it is much of a reason because there were still downloads from UK and USA.

Just check the download count of my second App and I was surprise that none came from Nigeria. See screen shot below

After I have finished my first and second android app, I decided to give MTN App developers Challenge a try although I am not planning to win but if I win I will still be glad.

The app I will submit is an android Education Application. A brief description of the application is shown below.

This Edu App is targeted to Nigerian Students in Senior Secondary School.
It covers most of the major subjects in WAEC, NECO and JAMB exams.
Students can read a comprehensive tutorials on different Students
Students can take an assignment
Students can take a quiz or download past exam questions and current exam time table etc.

I will be updating this project at interview. If you have a question and or suggestions, feel free to drop it.

I am also looking for someone who I will collaborate with on this project/challenge. Your main duty will be more of a data entry to the database. If anyone is interested and you are good with database management system (SQLite) just drop your email and I will contact you.

The screen shot of the work in progress is shown below.
Hi,I really love dis thread. Am just starting to learn Java,I plan on going for a course soon but am kinda confused which of them will boost my interest in Java and of cos make me really know java. I plan on developing mobile apps too later.am fnking either J2ee,J2ME etc ,which do u recommend.
J2EE is for enterprise application while J2ME is for java mobile application. I think if you what to build Java applications on your own in a short time you can choose J2ME or SE. Enterprise might involve much for a single developer.

Best of luck

Javanian: Can't say, I'm not on p.c. You should re upload...

I think since the application content is in English, I will leave it like that for the time been. I might reupload it later.

Javanian: On playstore, the default language for your second app is not English.

I did not see any option to change the store listing default language. One possible solution might be to delete and re-upload it again. Did you know of any option.

Thanks

My first app is now on google play
