Since you have got experience in app development, it will be easier to switch to android. I have used C# but not for android so cant say much in this area. If you have the passion and time and wish to take a new adventure into android world, just go for it. I am work on my android projects on my free time.

Yes it should work with that system spec. Make sure that you ADT installation is good.

How did youy get your emulator to run.
I'm currently forced to stop my android lesson as i can't even run my first app
the dams emulator just keeps on running

The emulator comes with eclipse ADT plugin. But the emulator runs very slow and it might be frustrating if your system does not have a good processing power.

I usually use my android phone for testing because it is faster than the emulator

I started learning android two months ago although I have used Java before so it is easier for me to learning android development using Java.

I am still finalizing data for my first android app. It is taking more time than I expected but I will provide the link for testing this weekend. First App almost done.


I will also release my second android application together with the first one. The second application is a simple app that focuses on students planning to start their final certificate or degree thesis.


The app provides more than 5000 thesis or dissertation topics from different programs / courses. Users can easily go to their course / program of choice and get a suggestion about a thesis topics.

You can easily modify any topic provided in the app to suit what you are planning to research on.

More topics will be added at interval.


Also, the application contains quality articles on how to write thesis, how to write thesis proposal, how to use reference in your thesis and much more.

Few months ago I decided to learn more Java and android so that I can write native android applications in my free time.

Right on this thread, I will be documenting my android journey and android projects I am working on currently.

Javanian: ofcouse it is possible to upload your app to playstore but you need a developers account and its about $25. Goodluck on your app, would like to see it when you are done.

Thanks, I have an account already. I have try out a simple native android application first so that I can get use to android environment. Though I knew a bit of Java in the pass. I will show you the application tomorrow or a day after tomorrow. I am just working on it in my free time and have not started thinking about cross-platform that while I am using native.

I am working on Education App. Hopefully I will finish before end of this month. I haven't worked with android before so this is my first attempt on android app. I know that I am far from the competition. For me it is all about trying something new. Do you know if it is possible to upload the same application in Google Play?.

I think google admob is for mobile applications and not for mobile website. It makes use of SDK that is integrated in the mobile application. I think you should consider using adsense rather than admob

Have you tried phonegap on game application yet? May be with some other game engines / framework.

I know about phonegap but right now I am not thinking about cross platform. I just want to dirty my hands with android apps although I am working on them in my spare time. Does phonegap has any performance issues when compare to native app if one intends to build data oriented app (ie. in app storage (database and SD)).

donniemc: Android is fairly new oS in Nigeria.Most Nigerians still dnt have a Smartphone.
Checkout this app we wrote for the International Market(kulu) it has over a 74 Ratings on the Google playstore and we just released it 2 weeks ago

The app looks nice. I think you should be targeting international market more with a little Nigerian context except if you are building the app for a customer. It is not encouraging to spend time and money on app and end up getting as little as few download counts.

One suggestion is to create a topic here on Nairaland where only Nigerian made apps will be review with the help of the Mods. It will help people to know about new Nigerian apps that have been recently released in the market. Because right now it is hard for many to know about Nigerian apps in different markets.

Why are you not getting enough download counts from almost all your apps? Is it because of lack of exposure, low rating or most Nigerians do not use android? Why I am asking is because I want to try my hands on native android development soon.
