Is the market going crazy?! ASI is at190K!

I thought 180k at Q1's end was exceptional but at 190K, I'm getting scared o. embarassed.

I have been waiting for a pull back for some weeks now but there's no sign of that yet.

I love the greens but I am cautious too.

As it is, how much correction will be healthy for stocks like MTN, GTB, Aradel & the likes ?

@Agba @Sunrisepebble @Pa Emma
Don't look at prices look at valuations. Knowing when to sell is important and valuation should be your guide. I hope you noticed that I was quoting forward PE when referring to my holdings not the price.

These banks are still under valued oh. GTB at 120 only has a forward PE of 4.76. So the journey is still very far

E be like you came out the same time I mentioned your name. You be your papa pikin
Hehe!! I am just reminiscing about those times people were arguing that banks don't make real profit and as such the discount was justified. Anyway its time to start hunting for the next opportunity, need to put these eventual profits somewhere.

As usual I will post after I buy, might post only on NGXforum though.

Thanks Boss… I will try or wait till I get fund.
If you don't have cash stop following the market at this time. Heck, even if you have cash and you are not invested stop looking.

Watching a bull market from the sidelines is bad for your mental health if you don't have cash. And if you have cash and you are sitting on the sidelines the temptation to FOMO in is HUGE.

LolWell Done Brov! I'm a number guy , but lately I realised playing the number game on NGX will only make you miss a lot of opportunities.

If we were to go by present numbers, Ellalakes will be worthless , it should be trading in negation. Numbers on some stocks on NGX are merely academic exercise.

Run the number on OANDO and juxtaposed it with the present SP. Numbers alone are not enough. If we were to go buy numbers Stanbic IBTC and GTCO should be 200+.

I don't want to write too much epistle. Numbers alone is not enough, people factor in sentiments, projections and what they know that you don't know before taking positions.

Beyond numbers , I believe, e get why CP mentioned sugar in his top 3 , beyond numbers, e get why I put am in my top 7 . Yorubas used to say , eni to mo way , lo mo we. Na who Sabi way , Sabi book

Once again, well done brov

Shalom

Maybe sha. Nahco is a stock that has always disappointed people who want a drastic pullback. If it pullback by 10%, it will rise by 20% within a short time yet they don't have a Market Marker
I assume they take a percentage of ticket prices

Someone sold in January 2023 at over N8.00 after making a profit of over N5 his purchase price of N2.50 within 2 years
The situation in 2023 is very different from the situation in 2026. I would not have been bearish in 2023 but I am very bearish in 2026

It would depend on the purpose and the time horizon.
In the short-term, the dollar is not expected to be too strong because of some domestic issues in the US, geopolitics etc
In the long run, I would favour the dollar as the naira may be affected by various factors e.g. if US raises their interest rates, if govt revenue or oil price/volume goes down, which may force govt to devalue, socio-economic instability, etc
The days of the Naira always falling against the Dollar are gone. Over the next few decades we are going to witness strengthening of the Naira or stability against the Dollar

What is the present EPS of Wema Bank Plc. N7.08 or N4.82 ?
The N7.08 figure was calculated using weighted average outstanding shares. N4.82 is the actual figure (not looking at my spreadsheet right now).

P.S this was the stock I was referring to in my previous post.

The bolded got me rolling on the floor. I can't agree less. Honestly this is not the best or right time to bring someone especially a close friend to the stock market. Prices have risen so high that any new entrant into any stock this period is likely to receive deep hair cuts. I too am having someone asking me for stock recommendations for him to buy next week Monday. He has opened an account with a broker and deposited N1.5m. I have told him to just let the money to be sleeping there rather than use it for experiment on any stock as of now.
Ah, wahala!! Who we go come use as exit liquidity?

Buy Access Bank or Zenith Bank, or better still keep your money in fixed deposit and wait for a pull back. Valuations are looking rich

Is it a bargain at a PE of over 10? Compared to other available options?
As I update my spreadsheet it is becoming apparent that this market is not so cheap again. Outside banking and financial services this market is fairly priced at best.

As a company they are obligated to follow the rules and regulations. But as individuals, we have our own duty to use the figures that will give us the picture we want to see
I don't believe there is a rule that says they should use weighted average for outstanding shares.

One of the companies on my watch list released a result that at first glance was looking very sexy. When I entered the numbers into my spreadsheet I realized that, while the result was good, it wasn't as sexy as I it initially looked. They used weighted average outstanding shares and this boosted their Earnings per share and price to book ratio

I looked at the exact reported EPS of 134.38 using the weighted average
All this weighted average nonsense should not be allowed. They should use outstanding shares as at when the year closes
