Ellah is not some mysterious biotech firm with unpredictable product development pipeline and wide risk-reward profile. Its near-term catalyst is a mill, with a known capacity when completed, that will be selling product with a known price.

My stock pick for next week strictly based on technical analysis:

Caverton : bargain price lies between N4.5 and N5.20
Veritas- strong bullish close above the stubborn N1.80 level. Any price below N2.00 is bae...
Universal Insurance: huge volume breakout above the N1 level. Any price below N1.20 is good.
Omatek: bulls defended the N1.15 breakout level upon retest. Further upside expected. Sharpen your cutlass...
UPDC: seems out of range now for bargain hunters but still got some gas to run.
Transcorp: nice build up. Smart money loading.
NSLTECH: is getting the deserved attention and gathering momentum again.
Ellah Lakes: oh, so sweet. To suffocate the nay sayers...
C&I leasing: enter upon retest below N8.
GTCO: a close below N96 rejected. Imminent breakout above N103 expected.

Let me stop here.

In my opinion, given current monetary policy, GTCO is priced to perfection.

In as much as we are not expecting a good 2024 result from Ellah Baby for the reason that we all know.

People like us has secured fund and sharpen our knife to load more of Ellah baby at a discount when the result is released.
Because that is the only thing holding kilometre 20.

However, dont be surprise after the release of the result, the next day news of commissioning of the mill might surface.
So dont be in a hurry to sell.
If you know the game, you know the game.

Try not to run faster than your legs, ellahlakes never start refining so you can't see something like this now but surely you will start seeing it soon after the mill is commissioned.

* You exited ELLAH prematurely ar circa N4+ when you couldn't see any value there again....but on the contrary, it has done close to +200% after that.

* Concerning Linkage, the Insurance Reform Act is a game changer......a situation where we may even see the worst among the listed ones performing excellently well than the solid ones.....depending on coming developments in the sector.
** The volumes we are seeing aren't for the fun of it....
* A year was given for this recapitalization, so things might not slow down too much as may be expected.

I know you know there is a stark difference between price and value. That Ellah has touched N12 does not mean it is worth N12. Do I regret selling, YES. Would I have sold if I knew the future? Hell no! How ever I did not know the future and I took the best decision based on the information I had at the time.

With regards to the insurance sector I believe the biggest issue we have with insurance in Nigeria is cultural and I don't think the bill will address that in the immediate future. However, insurance companies invest in fixed income securities and equities and with both assets giving decent returns the insurance companies should be worth more than they are. So I am bullish on insurance companies but the last result from linkage just wasn't very sexy.

Ellah stock price will certainly drop next week as short term investors will sell off quickly to move elsewhere.

I dont know why they are trying to fly before they learn to crawl. I would have expected them to have allowed their plantation to reach max capacity before needing to raise more capital to expand (if needed).

Also one thing that stood out to me with regards the X Q&A was that he kept insisting the raising capital via equity was cheaper than raising via debt. This goes against conventional wisdom.

In any case whats the rush with the capital raise?

I will be back in the company long before then. No need to tie down capital when gtb is still trading below pe of 3. Cadbury is trading at pe of 3 with Return on equity above 200%. These are actual numbers that I can see today

Why did they choose the option of diluting shares when they can sell commercial papers?
Did others start by diluting shares?
Check the outstanding shares of okomu and presco and check that of Ellah.Cant you see they are not in the same league?

My problem now is Ellah's latest results is not good,what prompted the rapid rise in price?
When the audited result is announced in the next few months,this same share price will nose dive.
They should do well and sell commercial papers. This is the only news I will appreciate than doing right issue or private placement/ public offer.

I have to thank Ellah for rewarding me to where I think I can stop until I see the next line of action which must be a positive one that can impact on the top and bottom lines.

I was a bit surprised when the CEO mentioned they were prioritising equity fundraising over debt. That said, it's still early days for the company, and the road ahead is long. I exited my position at N4.29 and may consider re-entering in the future.

For now, I see several mature companies trading at deeply discounted valuations, and I can't justify tying up capital in what is essentially still a startup.

As long as ELLAH mgt do a good job taking off into growth it’s good. In successful ventures the growth phase returns profit that multiplies money like x10 in a shorter period than more mature businesses. New ventures also carry risk of failure. But if there is no failure money multiples like x10 in less than a decade.

My advise is to wait for results to come out before knowing which banks to invest in. Profits are going to take a hit from non performing loans. Plus it's not like this market reacts quickly to news so there'll be plenty of time to buy.

If you're not holding Ellah or consumer goods companies; hold cash. Banking sector is not very clear right now
