To the best of my recollection, the entire land which was later called Bendel state was placed in the western region during the colonial era and the Oba of Benin led the people of Bendel out of the western region and into the mid-west.

Go into the link. Check for Ilorin province, towards the end of the 2nd paragraph, You will see that, some adjustments were made to Ilorin province which included Akoko, Kukuruku (Etsako/Auchi people) and Igarra districts.
These districts were handed over from Ilorin (a northern province) to a southern province (Benin) in 1918.

I attached a screenshot below to you of that part.

I am from Plateau and I have witnessed uncountable marriages between my people and southerners (Igbos, yorubas etc).

We middlebelters and northern christians have no problem with marrying southerners.

Go to, Jos, Kaduna, Abuja etc. It happens almost everyday. So many of my family members are married to Southerners.

However, I wish the couple a happy married life. You guys should take care of my sister very well. I can see Ngas traditional dancers over there. Wonderful!

The Nupes were the ones who invaded Auchi and not really the fulanis. Although they had some fulanis together with them.
So, if any of the ruling houses in Auchi and environs are not of Edo descent, they should be of Nupe descent.

Edo people's union fought to break the hold of the Nupe/fulani from Auchi, and it was quite successful.

Auchi used to be classified as NORTH in the past, during the regional govts, but it was later returned to the south.
And instead of Emir of Auchi, Agbede or anywhere else, the traditional ruling names were localized. Hence you have Otaru of Auchi, Aidonogie of South Ibie, Ogieneri of Uzairue etc.

There was never a full scale British military invasion of Igbo land like that of the Benin empire. Igbo land was simply made up of small scattered villages and hamlets in densely thick rainforests.

And since every Igbo village was independent of each other. It took the British longer time to subdue all these villages. The British were not really serious with conquering Igbo land as it really had nothing of valuable interest, so it was done gradually.... Unlike Benin kingdom where the British wanted to loot away all the precious artifacts.

You and HiddenShadow should know that, Igbos would have resisted the British long enough because the Igbos never had a centralized system of govt like other tribes.

For the other tribes like Benins, Yorubas, Hausa-fulanis, Tivs, Igalas etc who had a more centralized govt, once the British invaded and conquered the center. It was all over!

But for the Igbos. The British had to conquer different Igbo subgroups seperately at different times, which will definitely take a longer period.

This is one thing that HiddenShadow is unaware of. Igbos easily seem to betray each other due to clannishness at times, just as the Ikwerre, Etche and some Delta Igbos betrayed the Igbos during the Biafra war.

Fulanis wouldn't have attacked the entire Igbo land at once, they would have stared from Nsukka & Enugu Ezike axis. ....... After conquering this place and islamizing them, they would now recruit these Islamized Igbos, thereby increasing their populations and launch attacks further south into Igbo land.

Now, If Nsukka could be conquered and ruled by Igalas, I see no reason why the fulanis wouldn't.
