Gombe state is like 40% christian in population and most christians from Gombe love Dankwambo cos all this while he has been governor, he has never discriminated against them.

Dankwambo's mother is even a christian. About half of his kinsmen are christians. So, this man has no problem at all. He is very detribalized.

Once again it boils down to an identity crisis, 99% of history books even in Africa starts with slavery, and hollywood keeps reinforcing that almost once or twice a year, EVERY YEAR, movies about Ancient Egypt are played by whites, that does a number on your psyche, who are we? what have we achieved? why are there pyramids in Enugu? Oba of Benin's Pyramid? the fortress at Ijebu, etc, we are missing in history or stored in British museums! They never make it to Hollywood movies, just Africans naked and being whipped, So subconsciously we have adopted the mentality of slaves, we are extremely poor in spirit, we have no heroes, a 60 years old man can't mention a hero, that gets even worse in the political arena, zero role model, it's so bad the meme I dropped was of a quote from Winston Churchill, no Nigerian politician is worth quoting.
Our identity crisis is so bad we cling to stupid meaningless titles like its a price, you hear an 'educated' man call him Chief Dr Evangelist Adeleye esq. or Chief Imam Alhaji Eng Lukman, we hold tight to tribes, clan, and religion, even though we understand none, because when a black man gets money/power, those are mostly the first things he despises. He wants to first move away from people that look like him, wants to dress diff, even change his colour if he could. African Americans are worst off, their history starts on the shores of Africa with chains and sad songs, their heroes are freedom fighters who were all killed. We subconsciously unknowingly think we are nothing so we desire the flashiest things, we hope that would somehow make us different from everybody else,
Lastly do you realize West Africa uses the British curriculum? So we can forget about having any pride in past history that doesn't show Lord Luggard and Flora Shaw as our heroes. And don't forget white Jesus and Arabic Muhammad.
That said, all Nigeria needs is just one governor that would open the youth's eyes to good sensible living, people would start to demand more. Are we going to get that? Highly doubt it, why? Our leaders are so poor in spirit they become freemasons, freemasonry creates an elite, elites look out for themselves.

John Kuffuor, president of Ghana, Jerry J. Rawlings, his predecessor, Omar Hadj Bongo, president of Gabon, and Paul Biya, president of Cameroon. Others are Blaise Campaore, president of Burkina Faso, Idris Deby, president of Chad, Mamadou Tanja, president of Niger, Denis Sassou Nguesso, president of Congo Brazaville, his predecessor, Pascal Lissouba and Robert Guei, a general and late head of state of Ivory Coast, South African parliament is built on Masonic lodge, so no need to ask if Mandela was a mason, Koffi Annan, and tons of Nigerians, the same people that enslaved us, our so called leaders are bowing down for them in secret meetings and selling us out.
Yeah, you are right with your points.
Thank God for people like you and I who still learn history on our own and would not accept everything fed to us from the western media hook, line and sinker.

The Nigerian society needs very heavy re-orientation, and I am happy that most of we the youths are realizing this. Realizing problems and mistakes is the first step to finding a solution. I don't know about other people, but for me, I sincerely hope to cause/mobilize a change in the nearest possible future.
I'm so disgusted with the lackadaisical, non-challance and visionless attitude of our fathers and their generation. Well, maybe because we are in a more developed age of enlightenment and technology which has given many of we the youths the platform to realize the mistakes of our fathers and do something about it.

You don't decide who is north and who is not.
The northern region is still the same as when the colonial masters created the region. And the south still comprises the same people.
Any other thing apart from that is your own wishful thinking.
What you are saying is rubbish.

The average man from Kogi, Benue and Kwara does not even know that he is a northerner or acknowledges himself as one. He does not see any bond with himself and Hausa people, rather most of them see themselves closer to Yorubas, Edos & Igbos. They don't know the meaning of Arewa cos they do not understand a word of Hausa.

Those of us from Taraba, Plateau, Nasarawa & Southern Kaduna who understand Hausa and used to identify as Arewa people, today, a lot of us see that to be very useless! And that is why you see that Buhari has never won elections in Plateau, Nasarawa & Taraba.

Not if the south can sway a large chunk of votes from the middlebelt.

Exactly me too. My support for Atiku has been destroyed today. It really seems like a fulani man is always a fulani man.

Why do black people still believe this nonsense? Please don't raise your kids on crap
https://classroom.synonym.com/1600s-were-portuguese-trading-14076.html
''.....Portuguese exploration along the West African coast began in the 15th century in the course of Portugal's search for a shorter route to Asia. Although trade with the Africans had not been the goal of their voyage, the Portuguese found that Africa had much to offer. African cities rivaled those of Europe in organization, and African agricultural systems were significantly advanced. The Africans had desirable goods to trade including ivory, gold and pepper. By the 1600s, however, the kingdoms of Africa had established trade with the Portuguese in a far more lucrative export: African slaves.''

I think black people in general are suffering from identity crisis,we don't know who we are and we have no real heroes, even in our afterlife we are still hoping a foreign messiah would save us, that's why a totally fictional movie like Black Panther gave blacks worldwide joy. Now in the bid for identity, a lot of Nigerians have rallied behind the Nigerian flag, and the nation itself, that would be hard to shake off. We have no history besides some migration tidbits, our history books start from 1960! Imagine you educating your kids on his forefathers, you would describe them as cannibals and mass murderers, but if a white/arab or Asian describes his ancestors, it would be full of glowing admiration.

Asia was colonized but the young men and leaders weren't carted off in their millions to slave away. Besides most Asian countries don't have democracies or they recently switched to democracy, and their history goes back 1000's of years that they teach in their schools, they speak their own language with pride, but Africans have been made to believe we had no influence on history even though Egyptians/Hebrews were black, NEVER heard that in school, I had to do my own research to find out.

Still, we can do better as a people.
I think you are misjudging me. Who told you that I do not acknowledge the great history and achievements of Black African empires and kingdoms of the past?
I very much do bro and I know a whole lot about them and take pride in then more than you think I do.

However, as much as I acknowledge the positive side of our history, you do not expect me to completely ignore the negative parts do you? Some of these negative parts are still working against us till date.
Europeans, Asians and everyone else had negative parts of their histories and I don't think they deny it do they? I am speaking with my fellow black people and that is why I can freely open up on the negatives of our history. If I was speaking with an Asian or White, you don't expect me to talk like this, do you? I would definitely defend my people.

Asians did not sell themselves as slaves, but Africans did, and beside I see no reason how this affects our present day progress.
Most Asians already had a great sense of nationhood and homogenous states before Europeans colonized them, this is why they largely retained their languages after colonialism. Asians to a large extent already had homogenous religions too, which defined them.
No region of Africa had a homogenous native religion with widespread adherence, whereas the Arabs and much of the middle east had Islam as an identity and a somewhat unifying tool, South Asia had hinduism while East and South-East Asia had Buddhism.

Besides, It is only in most parts of West Africa that our indigenous languages are not officialized and promoted. This I think is largely due to heavy plurality of ethnicity.
However in most Southern & East African countries, their native languages share equal official and literacy status with English.

I disagree with you.

Before Europeans came to Africa, were Africans not conquering, massacring, enslaving, cannibalizing, human sacrificing (which we do till date) and looting each other?

Are we Black people sub-humans? If the Europeans lumped us together, what stops us from sitting down as humans to renegotiate our existence as nations?

Africa was not the only colonized area. Asia was heavily colonized too by the same Europeans. How come many of them are making tremendous progress today compared to Africa?

That’s how Europeans are, it’s in their DNA and they will never change from the rulership mentality of their fore fathers.
You see them donating money to Africa like they give a sh$t about us.

Denmark is currently trying to pass a law where they will have a facility or colony in North Africa to send their asylum seekers to and even when they are granted asylum they still can’t move to Denmark. Africa needs to wake up and use the social media to name and shame countries dragging us down. One wonders why Denmark is not considering Switzerland or Australia as the dumping ground of asylum seekers.

We need to learn how to maximize our resources and eat what we produce and forget about European aids, they think so lowly of Africans and we shouldn’t entrust our lives into their hands.

One day I believe Africa will rise.
As much as I blame the Europeans, I still give a large chunk of the blame to our people for being a very stupid and foolish race. We have refused to learn for so long now.
Look at many Asian countries who were as poor and extremely underdeveloped as us decades ago, today they are doing far better, making steady progress and rapidly catching up with the west.
How many African countries are really progressing?

I think we deserve whatever shitt we get. Enough of blaming the Europeans.

What about the time you will need to translate words in English that don't have equivalent in Local languages? Especially scientific words. Especially when teaching organic chemistry in Local languages. Hmmm! Not just worth the trouble. Government should just enforce students passing at least one local languages. In fact, in Cameroon, to gain admission into tertiary institutions, one must pass Mathematics, French and English. We should include a local language as compulsory in ours.
The major regional languages have already been officialized, concluded and agreed on some time ago. I think they were only Kanuri, Ijaw, Tiv, Edo and Efik-Ibibio.
All other minorities were expected to fall under any of these categories or make a case for their own languages (if they would be considered).

As for the larger languages. Kano dialect of hausa has already and always been the official hausa dialect. Oyo yoruba the official yoruba dialect, while Igbo Izugbe the official Igbo dialect. All yorubas, hausas and Igbos are educated in these 3 official dialects irrespective of which ever subgroup they hail from.

Not workable. Imagine having 200 pupils in Primary 1 and you have 70 different mother tongues? Where will you get the lands in cities to build schools? How will the schools be managed? Is it efficient to have teachers teach 5 pupils? Or even 1? Where will you find the teachers? It is because there are not enough teachers that Youth Corpers are being used to teach. Imagine the efforts required to translate each approved textbooks into 500 different language? Also this will also limit interactions between pupils and students if different ethnic groups since time spent in class will be spent with only there fellow students from same ethnic group. It would have been different if we all speak same language like others (Russians, German, Italian, etc) who speak same language
The policies were not meant for every language in Nigeria. It was more or less for the 3 major languages and perhaps other larger regional languages.
