Imagine the government of Northern Nigeria owned piggeries which produced sausages. Cattle were being transported in train coaches down south meaning they didn't have to be herded by road causing clashes with farmers. We were even producing and exporting sausages.

Obi1kenobi: An "empire" that was still as primitive as our "unclad bush dwellers". What kind of empire is that. Before the colonialists came here, you couldn't read or write (even our bush dwellers had Nsibidi calligraphy). Dwelt in the same mud and thatch as our Eastern bush dwellers. You lived by the ocean but could never navigate it like our bush dwellers. You had no scientific/technological accomplishments like our bush dwellers. Basically, you were just as primitive as our naked bush dwellers. So what good was your so-called "empire"? Sure, you had some tribal chiefs slaughtering each other in endless wars and consolidating their power in expanding their territory. But what did they accomplish for posterity?
In the end, your advancement (and yes, I do believe Yorubas are the most successful tribe in Nigeria because I'm an honest person) depended on the simple fact you were the geographical gateway for the Western colonialists and had first contact with them and profited from Western education and trade through your ports. It had nothing to do with any primitive "empire" you built. I thought the Edos were the first present day Nigerians to come in contact with the Europeans (portuguese) and not the Yorubas? You should confirm this. Yorubas were already reading and writing Arabic due to Islamic influence, hundreds of years before colonization. |
Politics › Re: No One Can Defeat Fulani In Nigeria —Bello, Fulani National Leader by Nowenuse: 1:21am On Jan 28, 2018 |
Nonaira1: Very much true especially the bold. And honestly, i think the Nigeria fulani have this grandiose mindset because those two tribe you mentioned have mystified them as some supreme being. Afterall, whenever fulani does whatever nonsense they do, those two are already to insult, attack and dare anyone that speaks against them or are either begging everyone to walk on egg shell to appease the fulani. Thus, it comes as no shock the Nigeria fulani have the grandiose thought about themselves. The ones in Guinea, Senegal, shit even the ones from Gambia sef, at least the ones I've met and interacted with, are without a doubt more respectful, nicer and tolerable. I personally believe it's due to not having groups that put them up in a high pedestal like the ones in Nigeria has. Gbam! Fulanis in Cameroon were also living fly in the 60's & 70's when they dominated the country politically, taking advantage of the Kirdi minorities of the north and central. But as soon as the Southerners united, it was game over for them. Fulanis in Cameroon have been cut to pieces. Infact they are now some of the most humble Africans you can find. They have grasped western education now, just in a bid to catch up with the south. I pray the South never makes the mistake to allow them back into power. The earlier we all Southerners and middlebelters choose to unite, the better for us, otherwise fulanis will keep on taking us for a ride in this country. Physicist: You are very correct. Fulanis only make noise in Nigeria. In other countries such as Mali, Guinea Bissau, Guinea where Fulani is a major tribe, Fulanis have little political power. In Guinea (where Futa Djallon Highlands is located), Fulanis are the majority tribe. However, Fulanis are usually careful during election there, because they can be physically beaten during elections. Fulanis have little political power in Guinea and all other countries. As you rightly mentioned, the Northern Muslims and Southwest Muslims are the people allowing Fulanis to hold on to political power in Nigeria. The Fulanis are able to do this by deceiving the Yoruba Muslims and some other Northern Muslims. If you observe very well, it seems Fulanis give respect to the Kanuris or they are afraid of the Kanuris in Nigeria. If not why can’t Fulanis herdsmen go to Sambissa forest to have grazing reserves. Fulanis bully other tribes only in Nigeria. As for the Kanuris, yes, fulanis might not be able or want to confront them. But really, it makes no difference any more. Kanuris are already willing tools today in the hands of the Fulanis. The fulanis have already used the Hausas to silence every other ethnic group in the north and completely dominate the region. Since 1999, when last did a Kanuri occupy any top position in Nigeria? The middlebelt is even considered ahead of them in positions like Senate, deputy senate presidents and speakers. Kanuris have almost completely lost their ethnic pride nationally all in the name of one arewa. They have no national agenda of their own, no national pan ethnic forums or socio cultural organizations, nothing! As large as they are! In Yobe, Bauchi & Jigawa, most of the indigenous Kanuris are now switching to Hausa as their mother tongue. Infact, just forget it. And these were supposed to be an ethnic group with a large pre colonial kingdom who defeated the fulanis. The only time Kanuris had a strong influence was during the old North-eastern state, where they dominated the entire north-east and the capital of that gigantic state was in Maiduguri (the Kanuri heartland). As soon as the old north eastern state was divided, the fulanis hijacked old Bauchi & Gongola states. Thereby breaking Kanuri influence. |

DerideGull: Arrant nonsense. There is nothing such as Hausa/Fulani. It is Hausa or Fulani. I am afraid that there is actually Hausa fulani, with over 10 million fulanis linguistically and culturally hausanized but who still claim Fulani heritage and identity, am afraid that both have become inseperable to a large extent in the Nigerian context. |

DerideGull: I have know you as a fake news peddler. Sokoko Caliphate stretched to eastward to Adamawa and Taraba. They committed a suicidal blunder when tried to head southeast-ward and beat a hasty retreat. See bros, stop spreading lies here you hear? Igbos and Fulanis never came in contact with each other before the coming of the white man, and this was because the Fulanis themselves could not be able to defeat the Tivs, Wukari kingdom(Jukuns), Igalas, Idomas and Plateau people. They could hardly penetrate most parts of the eastern middlebelt areas and this is why you have christian majority populations in Taraba, Benue & Plateau. Save for Igalas and parts of Nasarawa who later accepted Islam through trade (that is why Igalas and Nasarawa muslims are not ruled by fulani emirs and they share no extremist islamic views). They have their ancestral traditional rulers. So stop repeating the false unfounded rubbish about fulanis encountering Igbos in battle. Or do you think all of us here are ignorant of history? For Gods sake, how could fulanis have reached Igbos without passing through Igala or Benue? Bia nwokem, kpachanya gi |

Stingman: ...It is only in Nigeria you can say this rubbish. Was it Mali where you have more population, but never allowed political power? I need to cross check...How come you have more population in Nigeria? Is it only in Mali? What about in Guinea and Senegal where the fulanis even claim to originate? The wolof and other tribes there do not allow them to smell power. They are heavily dominated there, but in Nigeria, the fullanis use religion (islam) to deceive and brainwash the Hausas and Yoruba muslims to gain their support. Only in Gambia do fulanis produce presidents aside Nigeria.. Infact they hardly do even in Niger republic. The Zarma people dominate them heavily over there. |

biafrasun: I have been hearing about zango kataf crisis never know the Genesis, no wonder they removed history from our schools. oh I weep for this Sithole, this is their game plan. it shall not be well with those game planners. Zangon kataf was simply a crisis around 1993, that consumed thousands of lives and led to ethnic cleansing of all hausa fulani settlers in that town in Southern Kaduna. As usual, Hausas started the crisis, wanting to colonize, dominate and displace Southern Kaduna natives on their ancestral lands. However, Atyap (Kataf) people (the original natives of the town) never failed to show the Hausas who is in charge. Just like the Ile-Ife crisis last year, but worse, because the whole town was almost burnt to the ground. |

TundeHashim: Bro, there's nothing called middle belt. The so-called "middle belt" comprises of 6 states to wit: Plateau, Benue, Kogi, Nassarawa, Niger and Kwara States. The middle belt idea is strong in the first two states probably because of the preponderance of their Christian population. With respect to Kogi, circumstances has tied them to the North. Nassarawa is a Northern State in all fores. The leadership of this state (Lafia, Keffi, Nassarawa ) is inextricably tied to the legacy of Shehu. Niger and Kwara belongs to the North in blood, water and spirit from now till eternity. All this issues are temporary, we'll find a way to go about it. But I assure u, most of these alleged attacks aint true. The Fulbe by nature are peaceful and easy going. It's the absence of strong leadership from the part of the gov't that's causing all this mess but we'll pass it, God willing! There is something called middlebelt! And watch how it will unfold and take you blood sucking jihadists unaware! It's just a matter of time. |

So we all remain one...in blood and spirit..The North...One People One Destiny!!! May God punish that one north one people one destiny agenda. Nonsense! Hausa fulanis have declared war on the middlebelt and you are talking about one north? Madness. proeast: RUBBISH! This is a clarion call on all Southerners whether you are Igbo, Yoruba or ND, we all must unite now & reject these savages. We already have examples in Jos North & Illorin on how the gullible & naive indigens gave land to these people, & today, while Illorin, a wholly Yoruba town is now an emirate answerable to Sokoto, Jos North on its own is now ruled by fulanis, from the councilors to LG chairmen up to federal reps & the original indigens completely pushed out to Jos South! Woe betide any SE governor that will even contemplate such abomination! Buhari can give sambisa forest to his brothers as cattle colony since something as simple as cattle ranch has become rocket science! Even Kenyans are making so much from cattle ranching yet these barbarians want to drag us back to the 18th century. HOW THE HELL DID I END UP WITH THESE PEOPLE AS COMPATRIOTS?? IS IT NOT OBVIOUS THAT THE SOUTH HAS NOTHING IN COMMON WITH THEM?? GOD SAVE US FROM BUHARI?! GOD SAVE US FROM THE SH!THOLE!!! As much as I love this piece,, you are wrong about Jos north! The current caretaker chairman of Jos north is not a Hausa Fulani or muslim but a Plateau indigene christian. In the state house of reps for Jos north, out of the 3 constituencies, hausa muslims occupy only 1,while indigenes occupy 2. Not all the councillors in Jos north are hausa muslims! 6 are muslims but 7 are Christians! As for the federal house of rep for Jos north federal constituency, yes, he is a muslim but he is not a Hausa fulani, he is kofyar by tribe from Quanpan, a plateau indigene. Among all the traditional rulers and district heads in Jos, Hausas have none! |

Posts like this actually make me quite infuriated. Any adult christian by now that still thinks he and an average muslim are the same and have same way of reasoning in respect to the sanctity of human life, egalitarian human existence and equal rights to belief, is an irredeemable fool. These muslims no longer hide their true colour anymore, yet some foolish people are still somehow expecting something impossible from them. While I maintain that, not all muslims are actually extremists, I have long concluded that most of the so called liberal muslims as well are complicit to the actions of the extremists. They support the extremists by heart! While those muslims who may not support the extremists by heart and action, but choose to keep quiet, are no different from those who support the extremists by heart!
