AnanseK:Of course now. I speak d Zaria dialect and not Kano dialect. I told u, majority of 2nd hausa language speakers speak d Zaria dialect. |
Who no want be first lady? Abeg congrats to Lara. |
cleatoris:Thank u my brother. Dont mind all these people who have never been to anywhere else in Edo north apart from Auchi town. I wonder why people just use only Auchi town to judge that every other Edo north person is a muslims. My brother, even among the Etsakors, muslims can never be the majority. In the past, lets say like 50 years ago, i can agree that muslims would be the majority in Etsako land but never today because so many Etsakos have converted to christianity today. Out of the 3 LGAs occupied by Etsakos, only Etsako west have more muslims, let's say 60% muslims. Etsako east (with Agenebode as the largest town) is not less than 90% christians while Etsako central (with Fugar as the largest town) is over 70% christian. Even in that Etsako west, the population of christians has grown very strong over the years and that is why christians produce chairmen in the LGA. Uzairue the largest clan in Etsako west, christians should be the majority now or it would be a clear 50/50. The King of the town is still a muslim as well as the king of many Etsako towns, simply because Islam was established in these areas by the Nupe & fulani jihadists who conquered the places in the past and majority of the people especially the ruling clans n royal familes accepted islam. But over the decades, the influence of christianity in the south changed a lot and so many of these people accepted christianity and today many of the communities are dominantly christians. People should stop spreading false information. Adams Oshiomole is from Uzairue and he converted to christianity. Apostle Johnson Suleiman is from Auchi town from a muslim family but most of his people are now christians. This is the way it became for many Etsako people and Edo north at large. |
babyfaceafrica:But nawa for una sha o. If Edo truly has up to 40% muslims, why do the never produce muslim deputy governors or muslim senators? Do u people know what 40% is? So many Edo muslims have converted to christianity over the decades. People like Adams Aliyu Oshiomole as examples. Currently muslims are less than 10% of the population of Edo state, if u think they are more, pls help me to list the towns & LGAs where muslims dominate in the state. |
phyllosilicate:Pls do not mislead people here. Muslims cannot constitute up to 30% of Edo state. Tell me how many towns and LGAs are dominated by muslims in Edo state for u to draw up this conclusion. Do u think 30% population is a small thing? |
phyllosilicate:Danfodio's Jihad actually got to Edo state through the influence of the Nupes who islamically conquered part of Edo north (Afemai). Go n search thoroughly in history, it is there. If not how else do u really think Islam got rooted in Auchi area? |
philips70:U are very myopic and short sighted for this statement. Where else have u been to in Edo north apart from Auchi area n environs? Auchi is jusy one town in one single LGA of Edo north. Edo north can never be dominantly muslims! It has never been! Etsako west (Auchi) is the only LGA in Edo north that has always had more muslims. I wonder why people always mistake Auchi for the whole of Edo north. For crying out loud. Edo north has 6 LGAs. Estako east, Etsako west, Etsako central, Owan east, Owan west n Akoko-edo and of all these 6 LGAs, only Etsako west where both of these kings come from have a muslim majority. Muslims in Etsako east (Agenebode) do not have up to 10% muslims, u can hardly ever find any muslim occupy any political position here. Etsako central (Fugar) has just about one-quarter of it's population as muslims and that is why christians still dominate the political atmosphere in this LGA, u hardly see muslim chairmen here. Owan east n Owan west are overwhemingly christians with few muslims who would barely be up to 15% of the population. Likewise Akoko-edo LGA is by far dominantly christian. The only LGA i repeat which has more muslims in Edo north and the whole of Edo state is Etsako west where Auchi, Uzairue, Agbede, Aviele, South Ibie, Jattu and most other muslim dominated towns are situated. This is why no muslim has ever been senator of Edo north since the creation of Edo state, out of the 3 federal house of reps slots that go to Edo north, only the one of Etsako fed constituency can u ever see muslims occupy. The fact that Auchi town is the largest town in Edo north is what usually makes people to view this zone as an islamic dominated zone which is very wrong. Auchi is not the only town in Edo north or Afemai land and neither is it the largest clan. The largest clan in Afemai are the Wepa-wanno (Agenebode people) and they are overwhemingly christians. |

As for those Niger deltan groups feeling they would be minorities in a Biafra country, i really see no need for such fear. I am from the middlebelt and the truth is that most of our people including the northernerns n Yorubas see all Niger deltans and igbos as the same. Only those of us who have stayed in the south can usually tell the difference. There is no way the population of the Igbos can outnumber that of all the Niger deltan minorities put together. Apart from Tribal differences, Niger deltans n Igbos do not have religious differences unlike we middlebelt minorities who have both religious n tribal differences with the hausas, hence the reason we have problems of unity. |
I am neither igbo nor Niger deltan but i grew up in Delta state and seriously i really dont know what is the problem of Urhobos, Isokos n Edos. Why do they so much like to oppose igbos? Igbos are not and have never been their enemies. Its a sure fact that Akwa ibom n Cross river people will always opt to join Biafra when the chips are down, likewise Anioma people. Rivers igbos maybe divided. If Ijaw people decide to join Biafra for instance what option would be left for the Edos, Urhobos, Itsekiri n Isokos? will they join yorubas, join Arewa or join middlebelt? Even if Ijaws refuse to join Biafra, do they think they Edos n Deltans can survive in one country with Ijaws? Unless all Niger-deltans agree to be a nation of their own different from Biafra before it will work for them. Otherwise a divided Niger deltan region will only work more damage to all of them. It's either all Niger deltan groups agree to join igbos in Biafra or they form a country of their own. Polarizing themselves would be very terrible. |
Can't wait to see her in a mighty hijab.....LoL Silly bitch. Her mentality is too western to cope with a bullshit religion as such Western culture n Islam (arab culture) are just . parallel lines. |
Banter1:Hahahahaha, na laugh i laugh o u too harsh dude. Anyway am feeling ya |
Smurfette:Me the OP too am from Jos. So it seems like we Josites are reping the most. Ubangiji ya kara dukan mu alheri. ameen |
abubkhr:Ai ban fahimta abinda kake nufi da tambaya ba. Ni, ina nufi yawancin mutane da suke hurta Kananci da Zazaganci. Katsina basu kai Kano da Kaduna a population ko baka sani? |
sisisioge:Well i really am limited in the area of hausa rescources n materials for learning. Sorry but really i dont believe much in learning of a language through media but learning by living in the midst of the speakers of the language, especially for Nigerian/african languages. sisisioge: secretaryabdul:Secretary abdul was right. Kano hausa dialect is the central dialect. If u learn it u can communicate with any other hausa speaker, but as a second language hausa speaker i suggest u learn hausa first from the 2nd language speakers because ours is just very extremely easy and simple. So after learning from 2nd language speakers, u can graduate to learning to speak like the native hausa speakers. So i suggest u try to learn hausa from people from Jos/Plateau areas, Taraba, Nasarawa, Niger, Abuja , Kaduna e.t.c. The kind of hausa we speak is very very simple, slow and easy to get. |
So where are cities like Jos? Jos is bigger n finer than most of the cities posted here. Well i guess Jos is considered middlebelt. So remove Ilorin & Niger states from the list because both are middlebelt places and not north. |
NupeZalla:Are u sure u a hausa? So why answering Nupe zalla? Banufe irin ka....LoL No hausa from Bida ok? |
ebdib:So, where are the errors here? |
coldgate:Ameen. Sanu yar'uwa Ke bahaushiya ne? |
efilefun:ANCI simply signifies dialect of a place |
faveniska:Yes u are quite correct. I myself am a 2nd language hausa speaker, i find it to understand n speak Zaria, Kano, Bauchi, Jigawa and most of the eastern hausa dialects but switching to Sokoto, Gobir or any other eastern hausa dialects is entirely something else. Sokoto is not even the worst, i think Gobiranchi is one of the deepest hausa dialects in Nigeria, if they speak i can hardly understand most of what they say |
1) Katsinanci- spoken by natives of Katsina town/emirate (western/central parts of Katsina state) into Central parts of Zamfara state. 2) Dauranci - spoken by natives of Daura town/emirate (northeastern/eastern parts of Katsina state) 3) Gudduranci (Katagumci) - spoken by natives of Northern Bauchi zone (Katagum, Jama'are, Misau emirates) 4) Kananci - Kano state dialect, also native to south/western parts of Jigawa state. It is the most widely understood and spoken hausa dialect which serves as a central dialect, generally accepted as the official hausa dialect and lingua franca of all hausa native speakers and some 2nd language hausa (non-native) speakers. 5) Zazzaganci - spoken by natives of Zaria town/emirate (northern half of Kaduna state). This is the 2nd most widely spoken of the hausa dialects (very similar to Kano central dialect). It is the most spoken 2nd language hausa dialect in Nigeria as most of the non-native hausa speakers from the middlebelt & parts of the north-east speak it as a lingua franca. 6) Gobiranci/Arewanci - Spoken by natives of Gobir town/emirate (northern parts of Sokoto state) also along the boundary into Niger republic. It is the most similar hausa dialect to the hausa dialects of Niger republic. 7) Sakkwatanci - Central/major dialect of Sokoto. Spoken by natives of Sokoto town, much of central & Southern Sokoto, western parts of Zamfara state and hausa natives of Kebbi state (Kebbi north). It is the hausa dialect with the largest population of native speakers as much of Kano & Zaria speakers are non-natives to the dialect/subgroup. Hadejanci -Spoken by natives of Hadejia town and much of Eastern Jigawa state 9) Bausanchi - Spoken by hausas in Bauchi town (southern Bauchi) and most hausanized minority groups of Bauchi south area 10) Khurwayanci, Damagaranci & Aderanci. - Hausa dialects mostly spoken by hausa speakers in Niger republic in Tillaberi, Tahoua, Dosso, Maradi, Agadez and Zinder regions with some immigrant speakers in Nigeria and extreme northern boundary hausa towns in Nigeria that share some boundary with Niger republic. 11) Ganaanci - Spoken by native & non native hausa speakers in Ghana, Togo, Mali e.t.c It must be noted that Hausa language has over the centuries become a widely used trade language in northern Nigeria and parts of the Middlebelt region of Nigeria, Niger republic, northern Ghana e.t.c and by so have developed many 2nd language speakers. In Nigeria, hausa 2nd language/non-native/trade language speakers are found in Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, Plateau, Niger, Nasarawa, Taraba, Gombe, FCT, Southern half of Kaduna state, Southern 2/3 of Bauchi state and Southern 1/3 of Kebbi state. The people of these places are not native hausa speakers and may be sometimes confused for native hausas by Southern Nigerians. However some of these northern minority groups are fastly loosing their own individual languages to hausas and this is strongly evident in Southern Bauchi areas, Northern Niger state e.t.c The hausa dialect spoken by these millions of 2nd language hausa speakers is more of the Zaria dialect (Zazzaganci) & Kano dialect (Kananci). Infact, the 2nd language hausa speakers in Nigeria (northern minorities) clearly outnumber the native hausa speakers. This makes hausa the most spoken language in Nigeria. |
omonnakoda:Bless u. |
NZEGWUAGU:See this one,.what is inside Awka n Umuahia? b4 i started comparing Calabar with Aba or Onitsha, do u think i was dumb? we are comparing Largest cities, not caring if they are the state capitals or not. Awka n Umuahia are absolutely enlarged villages and nothing else. I am not even from Ibibio or Efik, but i grew up in the Niger deltan region, so am always proud to defend them anytime. I am from Jos. Now u try comparing Jos with any of those dirty underdeveloped cities u have in the east. My people in Jos eat dog meat very well like Calabar people but at least this dog meat has helped us built big, neat and fluorishing cities like Jos & Calabar. In spite of the years of crisis that has rocked Jos, the city is still a major tourist destination and still growing in population while Calabar takes the lead in tourism because of its beauty. How many people go chop belleful say na Aba or Awka dem wan go relax for tourism? arrant nonsense. What have the Igbos built in Nigeria with their high IQ since u claim others have low IQ? Abeg go and sell ur Okrika pants n bra b4 u come here yarning bullshit. |
NZEGWUAGU:Hahaha, Alaba market okrika seller. Ladi Kwali's middle name DOSEI is her own native name. Ladi Kwali married a white man Cardew but she never even answered his name. Infact Kwali is the name of the town on FCT where Ladi hails from and she decided to answer the name of her father's town as surname cos she was very proud of her father's town. Funmilayo was very proud of her paternal side and that was why she never threw away her father's name Ransome. But Margaret Ekpo was probably very ashamed of her paternal roots and never identified with her father's name and that was why she only answered Ekpo and never added Obiasulor. What a shame! This is what happens when a man from a very irresponsible family and tribe meets with a responsible woman, the child will always attach better to the mother's side. |
NZEGWUAGU:U can see that ur foolishness knows no bounds. If not for Margaret's Ibibio husband who introduced her into the parliament and politics, do u think she would have gone anywhere in life? Margaret's igbo father people used their son for rituals or sacrifice as is common with igbo people but her strong efik mother stood by her and nurtured her into adulthood and it was such a shame that none of the father's relatives could come and take Margaret. Talking about IQ, what hav the igbos used their high IQ to develop in Nigeria today? look at their cities like Onitsha, Aba, Awka, big mass of overcrowded dirty cities, go and look at calabar, its beauty and tell me if igbos can ever develop or maintain something like that in their lives. Look at Akwa ibom is turning to a small london while states like Abia are regressing and no development. Little wonder igbos migrate out of their cities en masse like refugees to seek assylum in other people's cities. Igbos have made a foolish show of themselves to the extent that the Oba of Lagos promised to drown them all in a Lagoon if Agbaje won. wasted tribe with a wasted ego! |
Igbos and Hausas are typically the same seriously. They both have wasted egos and are always troubling the minority groups of their region and trying to claim their achievements. They always result to insults on the slightest provocation just to back up their wasted egos. This is why i so much love the yorubas, they are silent achievers, they dont make noise like the Igbos or Hausas who are always quarelling and fighting each other. Igbos & Hausas are the 2 major problems of Nigeria. |
kaura5000:See this abo.ki o Who are u to say Nupes dont subscribe to middlebelt? are u their God? Jerry Gana, one of the fathers of middlebelt agitation is a pure Nupe man from Lavun. Sarah Jubril a nupe woman from Kwara is a true and pure believer in middlebelt identity. Hajiya Gambo Masaba at a time also participated with the United middlebelt congress party. Illiteracy and ignorance are ur problems. well i dont blame because as an almajiri i didn't expect u to know any better. |
PreciousBro:Silly igbo boy Understand what havennie & IanSweet are trying to explain to u and stop bragging like a slowpoke. The regional system of government was what made Margaret Ekpo to function more from Aba and igbo areas. Where were the igbos when Margaret's Efik mother struggled to bring her up? Where were her igbo people when her ibibio husband helped her to realise her destiny and dream as a political activist? Where are igbos today when Efik people named their airport in Calabar after their beloved daughter Margaret? infact u people are supposed to hide ur faces on this thread instead of bragging unnecesarily here. Nonsense! |
kaura5000:See this mumu. IBB is a hausa immigrant to Minna. find out, he is not a real Gbagyi man. Middlebelt is real, middlebelt is pure and middlebelt is one. Tell us the most influential hausa-fulani woman thay ever lived, dont claim Gbagyi because FCT indigenes are not hausas, they are pure middlebelters. All these majority groups, igbos n Hausas are the same, always trying to claim minority groups. |
garex:Abeg O Queen Amina of Zaria was not a Nigerian and never identified as a Nigerian. At her own time, the british colonialists who created the entity Nigeria had not even stepped their feet on Nigerian soil for colonialism. Amina is just a historic figure and not Nigerian figure since during her time nothing like Nigeria existed. |
meolaniyi:It has not gotten to this level my brother. Igbos & Ibibio people share so much in common and they have so much intermarried over the years. Margaret Ekpo's father is igbo and no one can change that, but the fact is that Ekpo's Ibibio-Efik roots overpowered the Igbo roots since she grew up in Calabar and her Igbo father died early and she also married an Ibibio man who helped her to become what she became. Margaret's Efik mother & Ibibio husband made her who she was. Her Igbo father only helped to father her nothing else. And this is why Ibibio-Efik peope treasured and honoured Margaret so much. |
