Politics / Re: Onitsha International Airport? by NRIPRIEST(m): 1:56pm On Dec 21, 2013
redsquare: Yeah, don't know why Peter Obi relocated the site of the airport from Oba to another location.

Oba is too close to Onitsha and Onitsha is already congested. The decision was probably based on safety reasons. Moreso,we are trying to open up the Otuocha Aguleri area. There is a plan in the pipeline to build a new city in that region. I think its a good idea. Remeber,Obi is trying to spread development all parts of Anambra. We musnt concentrate everythin in Onitsha and environs.

Ama na ibu onye Oba mana ayi ncha bu Umu-Omanbala. Onye aghana nwannie.
Politics / Re: Onitsha International Airport? by NRIPRIEST(m): 1:38pm On Dec 21, 2013
I will keep saying it,airport is not the most important thing we need right now. Let's get done with our MDGs,firstly. By the way,Asaba airport is about twenty minutes away from my town,Umuoji. Let's focus on education, works and housing, youth and sports, health, industrialization, employement and agriculture, for now. Obi has done excellently well and we must continue working from where he stopped to finish the MDGs. Anambra isn't yet uhuru and airport is not our need. Ekwusigo m' ka ora m'. ekumeku1914: Please why all these insults because of identity. we need to learn to respect one another because respect is reciprocal. If the Aniomas or ukwuanis or ndokwas say they are not Igbo, the Igbo must respect their choice and move on. You cant force people to follow you. Spanish and portuguese and Catalonians are a bit mutually comprehensible but do not insist on being the same. The same with german and dutch, and all Scandinavians. This doesn't mean that the ukwuani people do not have love for the igbos or feel closer to them than other peoples. They grew up side by side and are cousins regardless but that does not make Ukwuani Igbo as that does not make Igbo Ukwuani.

Might you define Igbo and what makes one an "Igbo" ?

Left for me I will leave some people to their ignorance and denial. And what's the difference between "Anioma" and "Ukwuani" ? Everybody wanna say something, whether it makes sense or not. Guess you feel important, now.

I just left Nigeria on Monday and I did pass through that hell of a road and all I can say is may God have mercy on Nigeria. Porverty is in the air,in peoples faces and in their voices. People hawking fifty naira plastic bottled water and running after moving traffic. Dirts everywhere, people selling open foods on the road side, bus drivers honking like possesed people, driving like lunatics and I was in a state of shock for a whole three hours I was on a road that isn't up to three miles. Dust everywhere,no road signs,no work zone signs, people driving on the wrong lane. JESUS JESUS JESUS is all I can scream and my wife laughed till she start tearing up!

freecocoa: Oh! The more reason why Obi should be prosecuted, why didn't people die when Ngige went there?

Bottomline is that people don't want Obi and the dullard he stands for, being pelted with sachet water at onitsha should have told him so, did his goons have to scare people simply because they stated their minds?

If I may ask;Prosecuted for what, exactly ? Did Obi kill anybody ? Please, let's do the honorable thing and don't politicize this tragedy.

Sound so to you because you don't know Obi,very well. He is very forthright. He personally asked Obaze to come home and he(Obaze) left his well paying job at the UN,took a pay cut to come work for Anambra. These men have integrity....not some cutthroat politicians.

Biko be honest.

We didn't have to be guessing this election, at all.

No doubt,I had my fears but after doing my maths I have no doubt Obiano will win.
Firstly,Ngige has lost to Obi twice. Secondly,Ngige needed a run-off election to defeat a little known Akunyili in Anambra central senatorial election. He beat her with a mere 100 votes!
Don't let the Yoruba support on Nairaland fool you.

biafranqueen: I agree for once with you, if only Soludo would not have still been under investigation with EFCC, that is the reason why Obi dropped him, because of that he could not contend and 6 months later he was proven innocent now we know it was a ploy from the media and partners from a certain party to take over our state. They will fail!

Ada,even if Soludo was cleared he still couldn't have won the primaries. Remember Obi's right hand man was there,OBAZE. Soludo has no followers in Apga. There is no way he could have won the primaries after joining the party at the eleventh hour. Moreover,Obaze is more qualified and tested than Soludo.

Biko, let support Obiano and move forward. No need crying over a spilt milk.

My issue with Ifeanyi Uba isn't about his inability to speak fluent English, rather his plans on how to move Anambra to a greater height. So,for those who are saying they prefer Uba to Obiano you mean no good for my state.

Addition:Uba need to know this. You don't need to be a governor before you become the most powerful man in Anambra. Focuse on your business and power will surely come your way.

Nobody said there is nothing like Ubuni Ukpabi but don't you try to overstretch its reach and Importance. Leave Ubini Ukpabi where it rightly belong,Aro and sorrounding towns like Ngwa, Ikwerre and the rest. Ubini Ukpabi was a deity used to sale slave and defraud people. Why wasn't Ubini Ukpabi, ozuzu, kamalu and the one from awka consecrated and venerated all over Igboland and beyong like Ikenga, the four ancient Igbo gods(Eke Oye Afor Nkwo) and Ogwugwu deities like Udo,Omena of Onicha,Ogwugwu Akpu Okija ?

Now there is a new way popularity is judged: And that is by how many people that visited you and not by HOW MANY PEOPLE THAT KNOWS you. Achuo ya na ubi ogaa na oba...lol. funny character.

abagoro:

You are very funny. The most popular deity in Igboland is Amadioha and it is an Aro thing. Most people started hearing about this Nri or Nshi while reading in school and not from their village or parents.

All of Igboland and beyond to Ijawland, Cameroun and Efik/Ibibio were consulting the Ibini Ukpabi or Chukwu.

Amadioha was popular, quite alright but for you to say it is the most popular is a big fat lie. Amadioha was popular in southern of Igboland and Ikenga and the rest of Nri deities were popular in the whole of southern Nigeria. Benin doesn't know what is Amadioha,Idoma don't know it,Uhrobo don't,Igala don't. Compare that with the popularity of Ikenga.

Radoillo: U don't understand,

Odumchi was talking about ORACULAR deities, consulted by people from far and wide; not deities that were held in common by large chunks of Igboland (like Ikenga, Ifejioku, Ala/Ana, Eke, Oye etc).

People didn't come from Ijaw or Efik to consult the oracle of Ikenga-Nri, for example. (Ikenga-Nri didn't have an oracle as far as I know). But they came from such places and from throughout Igbo-speaking areas to consult Ubini Ukpabi.

Nke a o sokwu na ife a ga-eji mee argument?

And people did go on PILGRIMAGE to Agukwu. How many places in Igboland was was Ibini Ukpabi established ? Then compare that with howmany towns in Igboland and beyond that has the most famous deities in the whole of west Africa,Eke,Oye,Afor na Nkwo.

These deities were venerated in the whole of Igboland and beyond and days which formed the traditional Igbo days of week were name after them. If that isn't popularity tell me what is. How many towns in Igboland has Ubini Ukpabi ? Compare that with Ogwugwu Nshi and Ikenga Nshi, which went as far as Idoma,Igala,Uhrobo and Benin.

As you are revising and distorting Nri history and Importance bear in mind that EKE,Oye,Afor and Nkwo were Nri deities worshipped on four different days. Ask yourself why there is deities on all the Eke,Oye,Afor and Nkwo markets.

These time, put more energy into your revisions.

Well,in order of popularity:

Ogwugwu Nri/Nshi
Ikenga Nshi/Nri.

These aare the only two deities that historians has identified as the most popular deities. Popular because almost all the communities in Igboland and beyond worshipped them.

I am waiting for you to tell me what made UbiniUkpabi the most important and how many communities whorshipped the oracle.

Even the apex Igbo group took her name from the most powerful and famous Nri deity,IKENGA. The group beign AKA-IKENGA. By the way Agbala is another name for Alusi/Deity/Oracle. Try again,mr revisionist!

odumchi:

Saying this suggests that there was some sort of ethnic consciousness in this pre-colonial era. Besides, peoples all over Igboland referred to Arochukwu as "Aro Okigbo". How could Onicha known that Arochukwu was at the edge of Igbo territory? How did Ikwere know that Arochukwu was at the edge of Igbo territory? Isn't Ikwere on the edge of Igboland itself? Why isn't there an Ikwere Okigbo?

It doesn't make sense. Also, bearing in mind the significant role which Ibini Ukpabi played in Igbo affairs in the pre-colonial era, you can clearly see the most likely meaning.

Nwokem, northern Igbo do not know the Okigbo term, not even my aged father who has travelled far and wide.
