Mkenya2019: The Ethiopia Army (Militia) like Nigeria despite teeming with nearly a million soldiers is now collapsing. This is why military ranking that doesnt take into account discipline, training and proffesionalism of the army is useless.
Small force like Rwanda is doing what South Africa cant seem to hack in Mozambique.
ENDF seem pretty much demoralized they keep surrendering enmass to Non motorised , low-tech, light-footed, decentralised TDF militias....despite the heavy firepower and artillery In their possession. OLF on the other hand is advancing from the south.
Just30: Yes even that.... Apart from the deteriorating unoccupied colonial buildings there have you seen the quality of housing there and the roads? If Kenyan communities like Kasarani, Kayole and the rest were even half as decent.. Kenya wouldn't have been so undeveloped according to AfDB.
The problem with most of your argument here is the fact that you argue with an abstract view of Nairobi thinking it's tiny area of development which is not even as Osu and Ridge whiles the rest of Nairobi is in degrading settlement and villages is enough to compare to an Accra that is completely built up.

THE CROSSING: The day Kenyan Soldiers crossed into Somalia in 2011. It's fascinating seeing how far we have come in terms of Even basic kits and weaponry. Add to that the massive experience we have now. Cc.kikuyu2,Stargate254 &Fidha254
Just30: Your rebasing figures .... To move from 40 to 98, your poor people should not remain as high as it is currently.... Also, unemployment should not be as high as it is currently in your country.. and this is the reason why WB and IMF called your rebased figures fraudulent..
Rebasing is a normal practice...mind you after rebasing our economy we only added 4 billion dollars. I would like to see the said world Bank and IMF reports.
Just30: we are not talking about SA, we are talking about Kenya.
SA economy has had a more organic growth than that oy your country which wakes up to bundle up figures which is not representative of your growth...
This explains why 40 million Kenyans are depressingly poor despite your fraudulent economic figures..
40 million is almost the size of SA population.
Which economic figures to be precise.?.. In the last 10 yrs Kenya have moved from 40billion dollars to 98.9billion in 2020...that's more than double . In the next 10 yrs our economy will double again to almost 200 billion dollars.
Take it to your professor and ask for explanation He will explain what economic reach is and what the trickle down effect is
South Africas economic growth over the years isn't very impressive ..1990 SA was already past 100billion dollars 30 yrs later they are at 301 billion.( Considering the head start they had due to Aperthaid). I would love to see how your theories worked for or against Their economic growth
At the upper income poverty line of 5.50 dollars, the poverty rate increase to 90% for Kenya... This means that only 5 million people in Kenya are at the comfortable middle class.
And we all know that those people are mostly foreigners to the 90th percentile.
To be diverse, your economy must create a trickle down effect.
Even if we use the middle income line of 3.20 dollars per day which is currently used in Ghana, the poverty rate is still as high as 70% for Kenya...
Which means only between 15 and 18 million Kenyans will find themselves in the shaky middle class.
I don't have a background in Economics maybe thats why am still lost.
Abohboy: I'm saying that Nigeria only surpassed South Africa in 2013 not in 2008
True to that ...but a simple Google search shows me that At one point in 2008 Nigeria had surpassed South Africa by 50 billion the following years the gap between Nigeria and South Africa was not so much.
Just30: Nigeria had to readjust it GDP reporting system because it had been underreporting for years and everyone knew that.
Unfortunately, same can't be said for Kenya because of how limited your economic reach is and hence why your figures were highly disputed.
I don't know what you mean by limited economic reach...maybe if you expound further I will be able to understand. Last I checked kenyas economy is one of the most diversified in the region.
Just30: good you've realized how stupid your maths was
Your country will only add 5 billion dollars to it GDP this year, moving it from 98 billion to 103 billion dollars....
Even by 2025, your GDP will not catch up with that of Morocco if they even stop growing.....
South Africas GDP was at 136.4 billion while Nigeria's was at 69.45 in the year 2000 ..8 yrs later Nigeria overtook SA by more than 50 billion . What was the growth rate of Nigeria in the 8 yr period?
AfriqueDuZuid: I am pretty sure you dont understand the scale of development of Johannesburg metro
that's why earlier I said we show tackle it by neighbourhood, for instance you pick kilimani , show rwhat does kilimani offer, estates businesses industries infrastructure and places that are under kilimani
and I pick say Randburg I do the same
I totally agree that Joburg is quite advanced but in 10 to 15 yrs , Nairobi will be at the same level of development (taking into account the current growth trajectories)
Abohboy: It's not catching up to anything it's still over 200 buildings away unless South Africa were to stagnate in terms of buildings it would take them about 10 years at 20 or so buildings completed year on year but South Africa is still building new things and if either DA or ActionSA come into power then any vision of catching up to South Africa is unlikely
He included Joburgs metro while I can also include Nairobis metro which can go up to Thika town or Kitengela.
jl115: fair enough so Kenya with a size of 580,367 km2 is slightly ahead of an area in SA that is only 1,645 km2
There are many ways to view it we can also say that SA has a total road network is over 700,000km 30percent of which are paved .while that of Kenya is 160,000km 20percent of which are paved. In terms of Geopgrahical size SA is over 1million square kilometers while Kenya is 580,000.
