Just30: yes the G3 was together with the AK but mainly AK.
The SCAR L is what has been given to special unit of your militia. This has placed them on quite a disadvantage on the battle field.
The very purpose of the SCAR rifle was to be of limited use and not of general purpose use and modular like the M16 or m4 variants.
If you don't know anything about gun, Don't talk.
The only useful SCAR is the Heavy variant and it is more useful as a sniper rifle for overwatch than a rifle for infantry.
No wonder your militia is being massacred. Which is the heavy variant?.. |

Just30: actually it does to the human body
[s]5.56mm tumbles in the body and get stack upon hitting it. There by causing more harm while 7.62 will most definitely penetrate.
The chances of surviving a 7.62 is greater than surviving a 5.56 [/s] |

U are so certain that the scale of the trouble in this region in Kenya is similar to that in Nigeria and the only difference is that the Nigerian army is not skilled enough. And also show me a mine infested road that the Kenyan army has had to navigate to reach this cattle rustlers. |

Mzal3ndo: What is was trying to say is that the cost of fn scar h is high. The Kenyan gvt should have looked at other rifles that could offer the same type of performance at a lower cost. True .. another reason is because the company that make the rifle( FN Herstal ) has some stake at KOFC factory at Eldoret. So we basically had earlier Access. |

Just30: Again You don't understand what you are talking about
First pick is a humvee which cannot survive any kind of mine.. Most of them are not even bullet proof because they are light weight personnel carriers.
Second pick is a Cougar, and you can see it from It underbelly to be armoured plated for mine Resistance and that is why it sustained very little damage.
You can even see that they are pulling it over to stand on it wheels , that is what an MRAP is. Built to survive You are a special case if you can see a Humvee in any of the photos |

Just30: You don't have any pic to flood here with
Your militia is stuck with nonsense that can't even withstand IEDs
This is what an IED does to the useless stuff your militia move around in that you call an MRAp Even then best of MRAPs get some level of damage when it encounters an IED. The idea behind a MRAP..is to offer some level of protection to the troops inside the vehicle.. that's why you can see the underbelly is still intact .In mine warfare we use the HUSKY 3 VVMD specifically for route clearance and Demining....I Know this is too much for you to understand.

Just30: okay now you can shut up
Since you think APC is simply a tank
We have 200 Cobra 2 We have 70 Streit Typhoon MRAP APC
KDF does not have a single one I know you are new military stuff and I encourage you to continue googling to avoid being embarrassed on online platforms. most Kenyans are avoiding to engage you otherwise we don't want to flood this thread with unnecessary pictures. Kdf has humvees,Panhard AML,sandalin e.t.c which are classified as Armoured personnel carriers ( APCs ) CS/VP14, ACMAT Bastion, The WZ-551, PUMA M26, BOV M11, DCD Springbok, etc, which are classified as MRAPS(which is basically an APCs but a mine-resistant one) IFV is basically an (infantry fighting vehicle ) there are basically two types of infantry troops; Motorized and Mechanized, thus the vehicles can range from a toyota Technical to A tank. |

Just30: an FN scar cost 3000 dollars
You lie bad, the M16 is more lethal and more versatile.
The Kenyan military standard weapons are hunting guns.
Scars are used for special limited missions
Learn hahaa we even manufacture (cmz 4) M4 and M16 clone locally by chalbi industries...anyway am done enganging on military matters for now.

Both the M4 and M16 are highly capable and efficient rifles for military assault and that is why they are widely used.

Mzal3ndo: If the main issue is having 7.62 type of ammunition, the Kenyan government should have opted for alternative firearms than scar h which was primarily designed as a designated marksman rifle rather than infantry rifle. Galil and Kalashnikov do have good firearms with almost same performance, kit and at a cheaper price (around $1200 per rifle without accessories compared to scar at $3200). SCAR H is chambered in 7.62 x 51 mm same as the G3 |

Just30: This is what the experts say about both ..... Shows you are dumb about riffles..
I would pick the M16. I own a G3 and a couple of AR15s. The G3 is great rifle, it is accurate at greater distances than the AR15, and the 7.62 round hits harder, but it is heavier, the ammo weighs more (you can’t carry as much 7.62 as you can 5.56), and it is an older rifle, so there are fewer things like optics and other gizmos adapted for it.
The AR15/M16 family of rifles are lighter, accurate to distances that most people would ever need to shoot, chambers a lighter round (I can carry about twice as much ammo), and there is an almost unlimited selection of useful (and useless) accessories that I can attach to my M16 rails. The 5.56 round is also much more comfortable to shoot. After you bang out about 3 mags worth of 7.62 in your G3, your shoulder is goona hurt. Once your shoulder starts hurting and your level of concentration is dropping off, the quality of your shooting is going to degrade. So, in my somewhat experienced opinion, M16 all day, every day. Kenyan forces prefer 7.62 x 51 round due to it's shear stopping power & range as compared to the less powerful 5.56 round which would be inaccurate at ranges beyond 400 meters The HK G3 & FN SCAR H ..are some of the best battle rifles . We are in the process of making The SCAR standard issue for all military personnel over the next few years, replacing German HK G3s and American M4 assault rifles. |

Meanwhile the standard issued assault riffle of the Ghanaian military is M16A2 before Ak47 and carbine I would still prefer a G3 over an M 16 Btw we also have some cool rifles like the FN SCAR H

mtisTheQubit: Actually, it is quite hard for Tz to go to war with Kenya. People underestimate how much we share. The only battle would be an economic one, and Tz would lose tremendously. Most countries in Africa will never see peer-to-peer conflict. Maybe homegrown insurgencies funded by foreign powers or neighboring countries. |

Mkenya2019: This is what a professional driven army does....the rest just picked boys from the streets, give them basic training on shooting, and pay them poorly - and call it army. THAT IS A MILITIA. You just need few millions to raise your own militia - pick up random guys, give them guns, and call them a ARMY
KDF is winning war against terror in Somalia because they are fighting smartly.
KDF requires it's officers to continually learn - and to acquire military science degree.
This how to build modern force. A lot of research and analysis of military systems and doctrines happens at Kenya military academy which was recently upgraded to National defense University. |

kdf is now starting to invest in 5th generation warfare which is conducted primarily through non-kinetic military action, such as social engineering, misinformation. They already established a cyber command sometime in 2018 and this month they launched stratcom ..mainly for information warfare but under the guise of Tv and radio station. Remember outfits such as Boko-haram and Alshabaab are already very good at propaganda and disinformation . Modern militaries should be able to effectively counter this since it's already a type of warfare. kdf in Somalia is also building hospitals, schools, roads, providing water pans, organizing football matches e.t.c in what we call win the hearts and minds campaign (social engineering) thus effectively drying the pool from which Al-Shabab recruit from. It's not always about dropping bombs and firing guns

Most militaries in Africa invest in peer-to-peer conflict type of training (3rd generation warfare). That's why they perform poorly against homegrown insurgencies (4th generation warfare). Having a huge stockpile of weapons doesn't necessarily translate to battlefield success. Look at what is happening in Ethiopia .ENDF, built on heavy firepower and artillery, proved no march to TDF whose infantry is non-motorized, low-tech, light-footed, decentralized but accustomed to grueling long marches. |

Mkenya2019: Not that it matters. You recently bought 12 - you got six delivered. The most important aspect is whether you will have the requisite skills to fly, maintain and use it against Boko Haram intelligently. That is where you always fail. This is where Kenya excel. Tooling without requisite human skill is waste of time.
Most militias like Nigeria buy equipment they are unable to fly or even do basic maintenance - few months later they are in some graveyard. Exactly . |

kikuyu1: Tbh,its time to totally rethink the gov approach to security in pastoral zones. If it were up to me all would be allowed to have guns! If a group of rustlers, almost always of a particular ethnic group were proven to have come from a specific village, said village to be wiped out by 105 milly arty strike. Right now they are digging huge trenches to keep the herders at Bay.. fighting may not always be the solution since revenge attacks will escalate the situation. Use of soft power rather than hard power will de escalate the situation and have long lasting effect on the communities. |
