PoliticsRe: Even The President Has No Power To Sack Us –ABU ASUU Chairman by nuclearboy(m): 8:04am On Nov 30, 2013
Thing is that even if some are pressured into resuming, the same thing will happen down the line!

I doubt they'll resume anyway - maybe a few have collected money or gotten tired and will listen because of spending cash, but the same conditions still exist and they'll be crying out soon and louder then!

Those who say "hire new lecturers" are deluded! We needed 60,000 more lecturers before this started and funds for that were part of what caused this strike! So where will you get new MORE when u didn't even have enough before? Or people didn't know there are universities that had only 2, 5 professors before?
PoliticsRe: PDP Rescues "Go And Die" Widow by nuclearboy(m): 6:15pm On Nov 29, 2013
Nice, very nice! Even if this is just for political gain, at least a Nigerian who otherwise wouldn't have gotten such, has profited!

APC should try get more PDP members to shake them so they do better and PDP shouldn't allow APC's mistakes to go without such propaganda - its us Nigerians that will be the better when the parties TRULY start looking for ways to win us to their side!

I used to support APC but will now be neutral - whoever faces social responsibility most wins my vote cheesy
PoliticsRe: Sack Threat Will Fail – ASUU by nuclearboy(m): 7:22am On Nov 29, 2013
you are short of staff by 60,000 and have not been able to make up that shortfall! now you sack everyone else and say you will fill the spaces! what with?

at times, one wonders what drug these people are on
PoliticsRe: Amaechi sacks Obio-Akpor councillors, chairman by nuclearboy(m): 7:05am On Nov 29, 2013
pandriod: You are not a novice, but ignorant. Why should I be debating with you? You don't know anything about rivers politics. By the way, do you know that almost everybody is moving to APC with amaechi? I bet you don't know. All PDP members i.e. G.U Ake's faction, All house of assembly members excluding 5 anti amaechi lawmakers, all house of representative members, all senators, all LG chairmen, all councilors, all commissioners?

If amaechi is not in control, why is everybody moving with him to APC? I thought most of you guys said he is on his own?
I really find the man impressive and wish he was the president!

Wish I had the influence to push him forward as APC candidate in 2015 so the SS gets 8 years, knowing he will be a move tantamount to checkmate on a chess board
PoliticsRe: FG Directs Federal Universities To Re-Open Immediately by nuclearboy(m): 6:22pm On Nov 28, 2013
I won't be surprised to find out government has just realised they don't have the liquidity (cash) to fulfill the terms of the agreement and decided to toe this path hoping the lecturers would continue the strike thus allowing them buy more time!

What is obvious is that they will still pay the strike period salaries and agree to the terms discussed! Seems there is no cash however, right now, to "do the needful"
EducationRe: Jonathan Declares War On ASUU, Orders VCs To Advertise For New Staff by nuclearboy(m): 2:05pm On Nov 28, 2013
theoctopus: We know that for people like you, the strike is a political capital to further your "bring Nigeria down" campaign. Nothing new there. grin
use your head! what i said was that with a bit more patience, Jonathan would have won because public opinion would make them tire!

but this "i am oga" behavior will only make them more angry and no literate person believes you will find experienced Ph.D holders ready to work in the rubbish atmosphere on campuses in Nigeria!

soon, you will start calling ASUU also "haters"! seems the only NON-haters in Nigeria are militants, ministers in his cabinet and the few dozen hausa who are working for his ambition! yet its you his advisers that are misleading the man!
EducationRe: Jonathan Declares War On ASUU, Orders VCs To Advertise For New Staff by nuclearboy(m): 1:31pm On Nov 28, 2013
horrific and daft timing - a bit more quiet would have broken their ranks but in dis one stupid stroke, you have given them reason to get angry and continue fighting.

abacha lost against these people! point is where do you want to find qualified manpower to fill those spaces? or can a B.Sc holder lecture 400 level students? if the medical lecturers refuse to go back, is it new graduates that will handle medical classes?

often times, it seems to me that the people advising GEJ are actually planning for his downfall! because when the lecturers get angry and refuse, he will (like npdp) start calling them back for meetings and further lose respect!

the man has totally demystified the office of the president
PoliticsRe: FG Directs Federal Universities To Re-Open Immediately by nuclearboy(m): 1:23pm On Nov 28, 2013
Sign a document that you will give them 220B annually for 5 years - finish!

Its what you have promised! So why don't you want to sign it?
PoliticsRe: Time For APC To Prove Their Progressiveness And Make Amaechi Thier Flag Bearer by nuclearboy(m): 10:17am On Nov 27, 2013
I would actually love the idea of Amaechi as APC flag-bearer!

1. The SS will have 8 years
2. Amaechi will so deal with the militants and these that have despoiled Nigeria (they are his current enemies)
3. The north (and SW) trust him and he will likely agree to serve one term
4. He will keep to agreement
5. He will disarm the SS and nothing will happen because Ijaw will then realise itsekiris, ikwerres etc won't support them
6. He is a performer who is also presidential in manner and eloquent
7. His romances prove he is detribalised and will be a bridge builder
8. He will definitely kick out GEJ and wow, prison is on the horizon for PEJ (not GEJ)
9 and 10 (double whammy). His investments into education in Rivers show he has a thinking head - there is NO bettter way to help the future than with education and he has proved he knows!

Whist Buhari is "the man", Nigeria is too complicated and ethno-religious for him right now with the hatred being currently stirred up! He's sat in the seat before and would really be best in like a PTF (advisory or supportive) position to someone like Amaechi!

Amaechi vs Jonathan would be a chess move that will put APC into the hall of grandmasters
PoliticsRe: Letter To President Jonathan, By Al- Mustapha by nuclearboy(m): 7:56am On Nov 27, 2013
okosodo: There is nothing that jonathan can do that can please any hausa muslim. To them he is an infidel, i hope he gets it
Why are people so insistent on hatred and throw reason out the window so easily?

Please what tribe and religion are Bamanga Tukur and Ahmed Gulak (amongst many others)? Yet because people have their own opinion, you tar everyone with the same feather?

Aside the knives and guns Shekau and his gang of animals carry, what's the difference between you and them?
PoliticsRe: G7 Governors Joins APC by nuclearboy(m): 3:43pm On Nov 26, 2013
lovejo: Contestant against Jonathan will determine who people will vote for, and from the past that has always been the key area where opposition fails to unseat incumbent president.
If someone has list of potential aspirant, let us poll it with Jonathan and see if APC has chance, i think this will make it easy for PDP in the 7 decamped governors to work for presidency in gaining back the seat and vote in mass or rig for presidency in the coming election.
if APC can sit down and think, all they have to do is realise even Jonathan's supporters do NOT like him - they just prefer him to a northerner because of the "our turn" mentality! If they can put aside selfish interests and allow the SS its 8 years, simply by re-creating another 1999, they will kick out Jonathan and have their own man in power!

All it requires is pitting Amaechi against Jonathan! A large percent of Jonathan's supporters will prefer Amaechi and the north knows that he will not allow the current looting, is concise, is trustworthy, presidential in manner and carriage and will honor agreements! Plus thats when the Ijaw will realise the other minority ethnicities are angry at the "Ijaw and SE only" style of this government! Militants and those who have stolen deep (who are his enemies) will also come to see the difference btw an Amaechi and a Jonathan.

2015 would be so interesting if APC could do such as it will destroy the tribal legs Jonathan currently stands on against the north! Yet it will acheive the same purpose of kicking him out!
PoliticsRe: In The Event That Anambra Election Is Completely Cancelled by nuclearboy(m): 1:06pm On Nov 23, 2013
Sensible way of thinking! Idea, discussion deduction, leading to personal decision!

I "feel" Ngige has been demonised too much, however - his refusal to hand your state over to the Ubas shows he has a mind of his own and twould be hard to imagine such handing the state over to Tinubu!

I pray the best man (whoever he is) wins - Nigerians have suffered too much

taharqa: HYPOCRITE!!
Your fada and those before him!

If he is found guilty, jail him, simple! Ask the FG to sanction ANY judge that turns justice into a joke!

Now do the same not only for Stella Oduah (who is small fry as far as I am concerned) but EVERYBODY in Nigeria!

Then Nigeria will progress!
PoliticsRe: Lagos Speaker Kuforiji Made Cash Withdrawals 57 Times, Witness Tells Court by nuclearboy(m): 12:26pm On Nov 22, 2013
talktimi: name ONE person within the APC who has said he should resign his position as speaker at least until after charges against him have been dropped. Pls dont play the ethnic card with me because i dont play that way but the political party aspect stinks to high heavens since the APC has the unique ability to shift the goal post whenever it suits their whims
The man is in court! He is being tried! Investigation has been done with the full acceptance of ALL Nigerians including his own people and after police investigated, the courts are NOW investigating! Let him be found guilty first and see if anyone will say "leave him because he's yoruba"

Name one person who you have seen support him or ask that the case be thrown out or he NOT be investigated or that the law should not take its course, whether because he's Yoruba or because he's APC
PoliticsRe: After GEJ What Next? by nuclearboy(m): 1:26pm On Nov 10, 2013
I doubt GEJ will win 2015 but only God decides! At the end of the day, heaven will NOT fall if he wins (or loses)! But power will inevitably return "elsewhere" after such a win!

The beauty of it all is that if he doesn't subsume his ambition and divide Nigeria in 2014, there will be no moral basis to try such again after him! So Hausas will rule again one day and then, they too can say they declare a SOE because of militants in the ND (GEJ has given them a foundation for such), and they can state the north is "suffering" and thus needs extra funds on grounds of "compassion" - basically misusing the power of the executive because there is a precedent being set now!

Its sad that nobody is looking and thinking of possible misuse in the future - we are simply supportive because it is a southerners turn!
PoliticsRe: FG Hurriedly Approves Turkish Airline For Kano Route Amist BMW Saga by nuclearboy(m): 11:18am On Oct 27, 2013
What is wrong with us in this country? Why not simply insist the airlines spread their business so that depending on where the passengers wish to go, airlines CAN use all airports! The tenets and principles of demand and supply will determine the best (and thus most sought after) destinations
PoliticsRe: Oduah Approved Purchase Of N255m Car - NCAA by nuclearboy(m): 6:03am On Oct 25, 2013
Damning!

Let's see what will come out of this - Litmus test and confirmation of what direction government has chosen to go! I hope he does the right thing and THEN, also goes after those who are his "enemies" so the war on corruption truly begins!

Maybe this is an answer to prayer, IF it will cause the start of recriminations even if for revenge purposes!

PoliticsRe: Two Trees, A Forest, And A Storm...(a Parable By Reno Omokri) by nuclearboy(m):
There is another proverb about the mighty tree that outshone and overshadowed all others!

In its great size, it gloried and believed in itself! Everyone knows that rainstorms come with thunder and lightning and one day, lightning struck it and split it down the middle! It was wounded and it tried to recover from but slowly and not long after, it died!

Quickly, tree hewers gathered realising they had a prize - such a large quantity of timber already split like an earlier giant called the "Abacha" tree also was struck by lightning!

Once they took chain-saws and axes to it, the giant Iroko quickly died and became a gathering of dead firewood with everyone taking what he wanted! Those monkeys and animals who had hidden under its branches soon found other shelter and before long, Iroko was forgotten!

MY POINT: There is a greater (lightning) power than deep rooted trees and when it strikes, the bigger you are, the harder you fall!

yet soon this thread will soon become "my side steals better than yours" and "you tribe is worse" whist the oppressors keep stealing

I wonder what peoplewill say NOW the ministry has itself accepted the vehicles were bought for her and thus, by default, were approved by her!

The way tribalism and the "US versus THEM" syndrome is operating, I wonder at Nigeria! Power will one day pass to another ethnicity and I wonder if we realise what fruti todays seeds will have us harvest 2moro

PoliticsRe: Will Jonathan Blow Up Nigeria For 2015? by nuclearboy(m): 1:53pm On Oct 12, 2013
Saddening thread!

I have found reason to "abuse" both Tinubu (market leader fiasco etc) and Jonathan, but I'll take Tinubu over Jonathan - at least we get "something" back as value! I also suspect what's supposedly stolen by Tinubu is going towards a war-chest for 2015 (to counter or expose Jo-boy's shenenigans)!

And yes, it actually gives the article credence seeing as not one of the pro-GEJ's has any manner of rebuttal - all seen is insults and deflections!

Btw, rhinos had their skins modeled after my skin - so insults mean nothing! Truth is that Jonathan has failed me, if not only as another mediocre, then definitely as the most divisive clannish self-serving leader Nigeria has seen! We are appalled that from the trust people reposed in a minority, poor unknown, already cheated (from the days of Turai's cabal) PhD holder, he has turned into even worse than the so-called owners of Nigeria
PoliticsRe: Jonathan's Administration: What Went Wrong? by nuclearboy(m): 7:56am On Oct 11, 2013
remark D: are you being honest? at least to yourself... and if you have kids and they asked you is we have made progress with GEJ's administration.... will your response be what you've just commented on here?

at least, power and transportation, not to mention agriculture, you really believe there is nothing to write home about in these sectors under the present Admin.?
you give someone 6 million to buy a car for you and he brings home a used 1990s Honda - i guess you would celebrate the person right? power is the only sector witnessing progressive change and the new power stations were initiated before this regime!

Go stick a biafran bayonet up your backside, sideways!

Trying to reason with you presupposed you had a brain, not bitterness stuffed in your 1 mile by 1 mile long head, you dirty goat!

Such as you vacuous war-mongers should have gone with Biafra and left the true innocents who were slaughtered! I feel sad about them but wasn't involved so its not my place to take sides OR apologise, and especially not to a composition of bad genes and half-baked knowledge like you! So stfu
PoliticsRe: INTERVIEW: Why We Killed Ironsi And Installed Gowon — Rtd Gen. Jeremiah Useni by nuclearboy(m): 4:28pm On Oct 03, 2013
remark D: You see, there are a thousand and one ways/direction things could have gone with changes in one of the variable/action or the other/reactions...

I am sure you know what is dubbed "in the heat of the moment"... and how, in judicial law/courts, one's action in this "heat of the moment" is looked at and judged differently from actions otherwise - which are NOT in the heat of the moment... i.e. they had no preconceived plan of action.

Keeping that aside, hindsight, they say, is 20/20, we now know what Ironsi did, and what the result of his actions were... so while "watching" this "video" of what did... it is easy... very very easy to judge him and say "He shouldn't have done this/that"...... even more crafty in my opinion, is what Kats has been doing on this forum and this thread, going from the resultant action and cherry-picking those actions of Ironsi that leads him straight to the result of what befell him and others.... (yet, without hindsight.. Kats himself might have done the same things.... )

quote author=nuclearboy]

Was Ojukwu or the Igbo "neutral"? because based on your judgment above, NOBODY should be believed!

I have learnt a great deal more from this thread though I read the Aburi accord, The 5 majors and Why we struck about 30 years ago!

The question that has come to mind over and over is "what if Ironsi didn't take over? In effect, what if Diphcharima had been sworn in thus allowing the coup plotters to have been sanctioned? Would that NOT have saved the Igbo race who ended up with such tragedy, from the fallout of wrong doing by a few people?

Seems to me the desire to save a few of his "boys" cost Ironsi, not just his life, but also the lives of millions in a senseless war!

NOT leadership or statemanship qualities!
Again I agree with you and here make bold to say again that you are guilty of what you accuse the Hausa for - Ironsi acted in the heat AFTER Ifeajuna had acted coldly! Let's be sincere - what would yo think after learning igbo musicians were singing "goats are crying"? At least it is on record thatit got so bad Ironsi had to pass a law against mockery of hausas!

I will NEVER accept that the millions who died before and after Biafra were justifiably killed (it was senseless, barbaric and unfortunate) but you need to connect the dots and see where an animist culture like the north would find it easy to boil following such!

One person has said it all above - ALL THAT WOULD HAVE SOLVED THIS BROUHAHA was the original coup-plotters killing a ranking igbo politician! Failure to do that set the fates against innocents!

Its sad!
PoliticsRe: INTERVIEW: Why We Killed Ironsi And Installed Gowon — Rtd Gen. Jeremiah Useni by nuclearboy(m): 4:00pm On Oct 03, 2013
pazienza: So,can we now blame Ironsi for his power grab and leave Igbos alone? or does Ironsi translate to Igbo in your tribalistic mind?

We don't have to accept igbo account of the story, but a neutral would ask those questions i presented, and so far,non of you are.
if you weren't so angry as to have suspended reasoning, you'd notice thats exactly what i did - blame Ironsi and feel sad that a "tragedy" followed!

it was a sequence of bad choices - the seemingly "selective" killings (my dad was one of the other non-combatants and these felt so bad because they were educated enough (perceptive) to see where the hot-headed combatants missed it) culminating in Ironsi taking over! by 1967, the feeling in the officer corps was that the igbos wanted to break away BECAUSE their take-over didn't suceed (wrong)!

its all just sad and rather than learn, the same is building to happen again today !

There is a timetable to all activity!

PoliticsRe: INTERVIEW: Why We Killed Ironsi And Installed Gowon — Rtd Gen. Jeremiah Useni by nuclearboy(m): 7:22pm On Oct 02, 2013
pazienza: I would not accept his ranting because:

1. It doesn't make sense.
2. He is a yoruba, and his tribe were not neutral in the civil war.
3. Most tales about the the war from the yoruba so far,has all been lies, so chances are that he is lying.
If you will accept Ojukwu's version of the war tales, maybe i might consider accepting akinjide tales.

PoliticsRe: Why All The Strikes? by nuclearboy(m): 5:26pm On Oct 01, 2013
Government keeps making promises and reneging on them! If they (govt officials) were living a frugal life, people would understand! But we hear of Diezani Maduekwe renting jets for billions! We see a pension thief who stole hundreds of billions being feted by the president and having police escort! We hear of MEND terrorists buying private jets! We see PEJ and GEJ junketing around the world with so many aides that's its sickening! I can list dozens more!

So people are angry! How will you hand over the power companies to new owners without paying the staff their entitlements? So they have worked for what? Same with ASUU - and GEJ knew previous govts made promises - if he wasn't ready to take the responsibility of the president's office, he should NOT have contested! Presidency is not about eating and receiving salutes and respect.

Way it is going, the profligacy and irresponsibility will run this government down!
