PoliticsRe: PDP Break-up: Who Will Deliver Jonathan From Sycophants? By Obinna Akukwe by nuclearboy(m): 7:37am On Sep 05, 2013
Sensible!

If Jonathan is allowed to contest, he too should allow others to contest - it is a democracy! But can Jonathan face a level playing field and contest primaries like everyone else? At the end of the day, his fear of doing so is proof he "knows" something is wrong - with either his promise or his presidency

texaco1: God bless you and your entire family for this wonderful comment.
People still don't realize that all these new PDP have not got the balls to leave PDP ,if they are tired of PDP let them just leave noone is begging or forcing them to stay.
One thing I know is that GEJ has been too weak in dealing with all these miscreants withing the party
Its your right to have an opinion and I respect that !

But someone else can easily cancel out your argument thus - "Jonathan met these people in PDP! Where was he when Atiku paid 98 millionto register PDP? If Jonathan is tired of all of them and so SURE that he has the support of Nigerians, why doesn't he leave PDP, form another party and contest against them?"

If he believes he's so popular and doesn't need them! Cos he controls Army, Navy, Airforce, EFCC, police, DSS etc! So why must it be PDP?

when you consider that, you will realise its NOT YOUR support that matters to GEJ but their support! And that, is why he is begging

duwdu: Add to those kinds of unguarded statements:

* how he, a whole president, was calling opposition governors "rascals" as he landed on their soil, even without him being provoked.

* the scenario that his madam is even more uncouth...

... and a picture emerges of a person who can be easily disliked by most not in his pocket.

And to think one has not even brought nto this yet, relevant aspects of his poot executive style, and bad or lack of performance in office...

These really, have so villified the man that there's no respect (or desire to have it for him) left! When I read that PEJ said Amaechi is her son, I balked! A governor? Because an "accident" of fate made you get to a place that you will leave? I can just imagine Kwakwanso reading that he (and fellow governors) are PEJs "children" - the gall of it!

Same with Wike, then you get to the Abatis, the Okupes and then the online rats who insult all and sundry forgetting these people could have handed Presidency first to Atiku and then to Buhari!

Where was the windbag Dokubo? Or sincere9gerian when Hausas humiliated Atiku because of same Jonathan only to now have themselves called parasites and be told "GEJ till 2019 haters go kill yourself" - if they were haters, would he even have got 2011?

What this portends for the future is worrisome - how would you EVER expect them to trust a southerner again? Wouldn't they have him sign a resignation letter "IN ADVANCE", or get him to wear a g-string to a shrine for oaths, all because of one man's treachery?

Funny - he's being president 6 years! Even if he has 2 more terms, his name cannot increase in weight so what more does he want? And even if he leaves today, the respect has been lost forever - he's consigned to the rubbish heap of leadership!

As at now, his look is that of a broken spirit, fed up and NOT enjoying what he has brought upon himself! Yet, sycophants won't leave him be to change the perception about him and his enemies knives are ever ready, drawing blood by the second - he's the only one losing and should man up, withdraw from 2015, NOT because he's not eligible BUT because a gentlemans' word is his best asset! Else they too have right to believe he'll want to destroy them post 2015! So why should they back down?

Its time to go for broke and with this level of pressure? God forbid flags at half mast!

Why is Patience silent in this PDP matter?
Ehn? Patience? Talk? Where angry Hausa governors are talking? If she dares, that alone will make them insist on disgracing her husband! Methinks her activities against Amaechi and the overbearing public attitude are part of why they are already so angry anyway!

If it weren't the desire to "flex", they'd have been more muted and mature! Sadly, its too late and every step is just one closer to disgrace

PoliticsRe: PDP Splits: Seven Governors, Oyinlola, Atiku Members Of New Faction by nuclearboy(m): 10:22pm On Aug 31, 2013
aletheia: Politics, it is said, makes strange bedfellows, but even the strangeness of the principals in this PDP 'faction' must give one pause. Consider the seven governors involved:

Sokoto - NW,
Kano - NW,
Rivers - SS,
Adamawa - NE,
Niger - NC,
Jigawa - NW,
Kwara - NC

Rotimi Amaechi sticks out like a sore thumb...and so the question must be asked: what is he doing among such strange bed-fellows. My interactions with people from Rivers state lead me to believe that public opinion in his home state is not in support of his moves. Amaechi is an intelligent fellow who no doubt has his finger on his people's pulse. Why would he want to alienate them and isolate himself unless of course there is another plot at play?

Here is my thesis:

1. I doubt if the governors would have been bold enough to break away in such spectacular fashion without believing that Amaechi belonged to their camp, because they would probably reason that having Amaechi on their side would weaken the President's support base and thereby strengthen their faction.

2. While they might try to spin it as a bold move on their part; the reality is that they have been isolated and forced out of the PDP fold proper.

3. I believe Rotimi Amaechi is in cahoots with the President and has acted as the "Judas goat" to force the enemies and traitors within to reveal themselves publicly and leave the party.

4. In the next few weeks, we should expect a spectacular reconciliation between the President & Rotimi Amaechi which will leave these governors and Atiku hanging high and dry. I expect Atiku should have learned something from how his protege Soludo was manipulated into losing the gubernatorial nomination.

We will see how events play out. But we should always remember that in the shadowy world of politics, nothing is ever as it seems and we should stop taking things at face value.
What if Amaechi, on the other hand, is the pivotal hand of this clock?

Pitch him as Presidential candidate against Jonathan! He is trusted to keep his word by the north who are master negotiators and who he will hand over to (and who believe BH is a jonathan/Ijaw ruse to destroy the north), will allow SS to finish its 8 years, will turn Ikwerres, Urhobos, and everyone who isn't Ijaw (including many Igbos) against Jonathan, would likely even be supported by APC if the chips are down and he is a perfomer!

As it is, most of them sincerely believe Jonathan wants to end Nigeria violently but with an Amaechi, the Ijaws who are arming themselves will suddenly find themselves facing a SOE to disarm them! Note also the man has ALWAYS been against the idea of paying militants 65,000 whist graduates roam the street! Most important though is the "he is a man of his word" idea - it rankles many that GEJ nows asks for where he signed to a single term! So rather than him or "war", Amaechi!

We'll see, soon enough, where its all going to!
EducationRe: FG Breaks-Off ASUU Negotiation, To Introduce Student Loans by nuclearboy(m): 5:23am On Aug 29, 2013
With fuel subsidy, the story was that it was the rich that were enjoying it and palliatives would be provided! And it was the opposition blamed for "politicising" it! But now no palliatives have shown, nobody remembers the oppostion and Nigerians are suffering!

With school fees, again, it is the opposition and student loans which effectively mean that rather than government supporting your education, you (in a country where there are no jobs) are indebted more or less for life! And again the government shirks responsibility!

Yet PEJ can go around with 200 cars as escorts, get federal Billions to spend on "we-we" clothing to campaign, fight an elected governor and use federal funds to go around on private jets! GEJ himself can pay a soldier 32,000 and a militant 65,000! Tompolo just bought a private jet, 365 Billion just disappeared yet mercenary iweala feels Nigeria is so broke that all we can afford is paying trillions to the less than 500 reps and senators!

There are investments that lead to progress and those that lead to ruin! Education is the poster child for development and even 40% of the budget isn't too much but here, 8% is for education whist most of the rest is stolen or misappropriated in readiness for 2015! Yet this by a man and govt that has nothing to offer except travelling around the world and accussing "opposition" of everything from having diahrrea to non-supply of power!

Sad! But then when nobody could face Abacha, he faced himself! Our actions will judge and pass judgement on us no matter how we try to deflect truth!

You are so wrong that it hurt reading your post!

Israel was a "Theocratic" state! God was final arbiter and judge in every matter!

Nigeria/UK where these things happened are democratic! Its a different set of laws and the constitution guarantees secularity in judgement! Being that God is NOT an author of confusion, He wouldn't usurp authority after saying we ought follow laws! Coercion in intimacy matters is same as ra.pe!

Let me put it like this - if a Sharia proponent kidnaps your 9 year old daughter and says his Koran allows him forcibly convert her and marry her, will you say the same you stated? Or is it only pastors that should be left to God? Why not leave boko haram to Allah too? Why not leave traditionaists who kill and carry human parts for their own purposes to Shango and Ogun?

What he did is wrong, IF he did it - that is the honest unbiased truth and God who allowed authority to be constituted is NOT a law breaker!

Sincere 9gerian: From what I read, the plant was built based on power purchase agreement (PPA) between Lagos State Govt and Enron. The arrangement was that Enron will build the plant while Lagos state govt will purchase the power and sell to the people through PHCN.

But all the same, I commend Tinubu for doing that early in 2000 when OBJ was still confused about what to do with power. But between 2001 when the 270MW plant was built and now, how come no other major power plant has been built?

Meanwhile, I'll now modify the OP to reflect the 270MW built by ACN in the last 14yrs. But if an ACN controlled state has built 270MW in the last 14 years, but so also the PDP controlled states in Rivers and Akwa-Ibom.

However, we await your response to other issues raised in the OP.
Why are you so indecent? Reading you at times, one has no recourse but to wonder if you were brought up by Clifford orji on a dustbin

Lagos conceived it, got partners to implement and were fought every step of the way by the GEJs in the center who also refused to allow them use it for their own purposes knowing Lagos was ready to generate its own power (thus showing up your ineffectual useless center that spends all resources ONLY on chasing enemies and self enrichment when not closing down cities because they want to visit hair dressers) and show up the federal as incompetent and self-serving!

Since their efforts were frustrated, they have stayed within the bounds set by the slave-masters in Abuja but I dare you - let the center allow states to generate and distribute as they wish and let's see what will happen! But they won't knowing that disgrace will follow!

Dike Chimezie: Nigerians dont know what they want.We complain of a high recurrent expenditure still also we support any demand of a pay rise by any institution.
In my view most of these academic staffs salaries should be reduced. These lectures and i mean a whole number of them aren't justifying their pay and they know this.
ASUU are selfish and greedy.
They care less about the students hence their continue insistence on strike.
Our tertiary institutions have been politicise, the respective student union government (SUG's) aren't what they should be.
I was once a victim of an 8 month strike and should be in a position to know what is at stake.
Maybe you should consider the number of people asking for 92 billion and the value universitylecturers add to the future of any country!

Then consider how much Patience Faka Jonathan spends (mission house, presidential jets, million Naira menus, commandeering federal forces for visits to hair dressing saloons, printing ankara with her husbands face and fuel/welfare packages amd envelopes for synchophants - strafe all that - she just asked that amaechi's crime is not in wasting nigerian funds and resources to go visit her in aso rock; he MERELY said "sorry" in Rivers)!

That's ONE woman that we can easily trace 10 Billion to for the above, a 500 million Naira party, d cost of treatment and fuelling/airport fees in Germany whist she "died" and visited the universe etc!

Add GEJ himself! Add the senate where D Mark alone gets a billion + annually, then his 108 colleagues, add the NASS, add morons like that bucket-shape headed Wike who has abandoned striking lecturers and the economic impact (don't even think of man hours wasted) on students TO BE FIGHTING amaechi, the nation etc, of course add the Diezani's of this world who spend Billions chartering aircraft, add GEJ's mum who couldn't buy shoes but now gives out 100 million Naira hostels (from petty trading income, right), then add the HUNDREDS of special assistants and their assistants, personal assistants, advisers and the security votes and estacodes (allowances for each police, soldier, SSS operative etc) for each trip out of town or even to the toilet ..... You want more?

Remove all THAT profligacy from our recurrent expenditure! Then come back and tell hardworking professionals, some of whom spent 30 years acquiring the knowledge and experience they impart, that they are greedy and selfish!
PoliticsRe: Ongoing ASUU Strike: Politically Motivated? by nuclearboy(m): 4:42pm On Aug 23, 2013
@OP:

Are u in Nigeria at all?

You are totally insincere to suggest there's political reasons behind these strikes! What I'd expect a literate person to do is talk with people to guage what's on their minds! I was at FMC Abeokuta last week and overheard part of a conversation! It went something like "government officials are despoiling the economy, giving themselves billions and stealing the rest that meant for 170 million" one person said she saw PEJ's convoy and wondered how much was spent on fuel alone whist she bought 300 (three hundred) Naira fuel into her beat up car that morning and has to feed 5 children on a ridiculous salary! Since that conversation, the FMCs have joined the strike!

A university professor hears of a 30 mill take home for NASS members who then oppress his children (sleeping with his daughters)! He sees Mrs Jonathan in a 400 vehicle convoy, spraying money (that comes from where) on praise dancers employed to sing to her, gets stuck in traffic for 6 hours because she "wants" to leave Abuja and visit his city in PH, hears of 800 million going towards food, watched a 500 million Naira thanksgiving service for returning from the dead, knows that a table of politicians in abuja shraton will drink 2 or 3 bottles of champagne each costing 1.2 million (per bottle) with his daughter sitting on the lap of an illiterate older than himself!

Then he remembers under all this profligacy, that there is an existing agreement that will allow him provide a better life for his daughter and hold back his son from being frustrated!

But you, a govt apologist, now comes to judgement screaming "it is political and greedy" - why not ask those who drink million Naira bottles of champagne what giving up such wastage will cost them? Does PEJ need praise dancers at 10K per head wherever she goes? The ankara with GEJs face - is it her salary that paid for that? The hundreds of cars and fuel they burn - does she pay for that? Does she really need a presidential jet for "visiting" friends?

Would university professors see a tempered reasonable way of life from the first family yet request for such? Could anyone have seen Buharis lifestyle in 1984 and made such demands?

Don't blame the people asking for a better share (life)! Its the Iweala's for whom wastage applies only when its others that you should speak to! Them and your man who has taken wastage, profligacy and a culture of impunity to the point of insanity, where decency no longer applies!
PoliticsRe: Controversial Flyover Barrier Demolished In Ibadan by nuclearboy(m): 8:09pm On Aug 21, 2013
Pukkah: I think you're pushing it too far.

At first, you asserted that the bridge was sub-standard. I asked you to define a standard bridge but you pushed it to me. I defined a standard bridge.

You have insisted, repeated, and concluded that N3b is too much for the bridge. You have even gobe further that you have some criteria on which you based your conclusion (which is hasty to many posters here).

When asked to share your basis with others, you have again pushed it to them. Haba!

If there's anything you know that we don't, please share it or keep quiet.

Please note that I only suport you if the intention of querying the Ibadan bridge is to put ALL governments projects pan-Nigeria under the spotlight. I will frown at your position if your intention is to focus on the bridge so as to play bad politics.

How did Ladoja and Akala change the landscape and lives of Ibadan (people) with roughly the same resources at Ajimobi's disposal?

I know there are some people who are out to thwart Ajimobi's second coming but I'm interested in what's going on now to the extent that I'm even ready to commit my personal resources to frustrate them.
Most of the criticism on this thread is pitiful!

I remember that when the idea of this bridge was first mooted, the question in most educated minds was that of compensation - everyone knew it would help the traffic situation which was horrid but we pondered how much would go towards compensating the owners of buildings etc!

The other issue was drainage which was on its own possibly a 300 million Naira project (those who truly know mokola wonder where all d floods of the past have permanently disappeared to)!

Concerning vehicle height restrictions, I just wonder at the mental state of many posters here - this bridge has one turn and it is sharp! Driving a SUV (was in a hurry) first time I used it, I pondered what would happen if one was too fast! Now if I wondered with a SUV, I can just imagine one of our larger trucks or box vans driven by a drunk or inexperienced hitting d walls or plummeting down onto traffic below! To avoid such, they are restricted (not because of weight or bridge strength) and have 2 perfectly usable ground level lanes! So what's the noise about?

Way I see it, compensations (to owners of buildings), a drainage system that runs quite a distance, service roads, widening the hitherto existing roads and the cost of the project ALL went into the 2.3 billion (not 3 billion being bandied about)! As someone pointed out, the existing Lagos-Ibadan express will cost 1.3 billion per kilometer without bridges and practically NO compensation required (Mokola is a business district and land/property cost is at a premium)!

Nobody is perfect but this administration is doing very well!

How and Why would someone go and vandalize a Gas pipeline in nigeria??

If its a crude or refine product pipeline thats understandable....But Capturing gas from a ruptured pipeline doesn't it need a delicate and special equipment for that?

The same Gas they are taking that huge risk to steal, is it not the same gas Oil companies flare at their oil fields? that is even excess load to them.....if those vandals really need the gas, cant they go to those oil fields where gas is a waste and is being flared and those oil companies will give it to them free of charge.

Am i getting this thing all wrong?

Someone should enlighten me........
Its always been a lie! Only when liquid condensate gets into the lines do issues occur but this lie of gas-line vandalization is just a ruse to cover up incompetence!

Note that these are highly pressurized pipes and any leak(s) are almost guaranteed to cause explosions!
