My dear irrespective of the war the poster's spouse in Germany doesn't loose anything in enquiring from the Foreign office in Essen via Email or Letters. At times applying a little bit of pressure is recommendable, so they up their game. Didn't you read where he/she said the whole silence is affecting him/her mental state?
Your waiting for PR appointment is a totally different thing and its up to you what you do about that.

Just so you understand what I’m trying to say, you can call a million times, send a thousand email, or even write a billion letter to their post box, those people take their time, and they operate on a first come first serve basis, only on exceptional cases, of course they don’t see these applications as urgent.
Now take a look at these calendars, the only available days you are seeing are in July with dates underlined, every other dates are not available, the last time I check, most of the now available dates in July was not available, I guess some persons may have canceled or changed appointment date.
On a normal work day, these people goes on break by 12 and resume by 3pm, August is even the worse month as majority of them have gone for holidays, (dem no send you), the only few remaining staffs continue work with pace. They won’t let you even pressure them.
The earlier you understand this, the easier your peace. Otherwise you will just be getting agitated unnecessarily.
Again, good luck guys.

Please house, is 3 months of Insurance accepted by the Embassy for the Family Reunion Visa?

It’s completely fine. Even 2 months is enough. Your spouse must have added you to their insurance before now.

Hello dear,

I am in Essen and we did family Reunion visa here. In our case it took around 1 or maximum 2 Weeks. Your spouse in Germany should write or send them a Mail/ letter enquiring the stand of things, stating that you haven't been updated yet by the Embassy inNigeria.
By God's grace they will reply you soon.

Since you live in Germany, you should Atleast know better that things takes time, I advise the poster to be patient, while her husband can only send mails or call them after each time.
I have been waiting for an appointment for PR for more than 3 months.
The times you had yours was probably before the war started between Russia and Ukrain, since those times, appointments takes longer in most offices. However, Essen is a city filled with lots of foreigners adding to the fact that they are under employed, these are some of the reasons for delays. Good luck to everyone waiting.

Those seeking for short visa appointment can drop their email, full name as starting with surname followed by first name and middle name and passport number here, I will try to help when I find one, I usually see appointments because I refresh the website while I’m at work at night.
But which ever date I chose for you, you must be willing to attend it or try to cancel within 3days if you can’t make it.
Ps. Do not dm me, I won’t reply, I am not an agent and I’m not charging anyone for this.
And of course I will NEVER contact you.

I received an email requesting me to submit travel date and health insurance.

How do I submit travel date? By booking a flight?

Please help.
If you are going to submit the travel insurance in person, just take a plain white paper and write your intended travel date on it and attach to the envelope.
If via email. Write the dates the body of the message and attach your travel insurance e.g
Intended travel date: 30/June/2023.
You must give a space of three weeks from the day you would submit to the day you are traveling.
Good luck and congratulations

Good morning all. I need an affordable hotel near the Embassy to just pass a night for my interview. Any recommendations please

There’s Green Manor hotel opposite Mike Adenuga Towers or Glee Hotels, they are both in a walking distance to the embassy or you can take bolt or Uber with less than a thousand naira.
You can book online using booking.com

Most of the lawyers are now doing social work in the UK through study visa. Gone are the days when they have lots of lawyers available to take up the job of verification. Insecurities are also cause of delays too.
If dem hold German lawyer for ransom na his family dey responsible o, not German embassy, so everyone is using their brain.

The lawyer that verified me said he’s no longer practicing, he’s looking for visa to travel now.

Good morning, and happy Sunday. I need some help while myself and kids await our appointment mail.

1. So, I left primary school in primary 4 and never wrote primary school leaving exam. But I have a testimonial from my primary school. Can this suffice as evidence for my primary school education?

2. I attended 2 different secondary schools, and unfortunately, both secondary schools have packed up. Though I obtained my secondary school leaving certificate from the second.
Now my question as regards this is on the form to fill, I noticed that there is only space for one secondary school. So how do I incorporate the previous secondary school I attended and do I need to notify them that both schools are no longer in existence?

I would appreciate all the help I can get as this has been a huge source of worry for me. Thanks🙏

My case is similar to yours, you only need to give details of the last school you attended. Do not bother going to meet the school even if they are still existing, they will wil try to extort you like in my case, I left the lawyer to search by himself and when he could not, he reach out and I explained the school had relocated. He found the new address online and went there, the principal or proprietor request for 100k and the lawyer walked away. I got a verification email the next week that all was fine.

Thank you. I saw it, but my colleagues in Germany say I'll need to take it. undecided
Also, do you know if flight companies request it before boarding flights? I remember seeing this somewhere. Or that has stopped too?

If you are not vaccinated, you would need to show a negative test result before and upon arrival.

Like I said, it's not a do or die if you work in an IT, I only applied because my foreign officer only gave me an official signed stuff, because according to him, it's better I do it because it will be subsidized for me, and lots of benefits to get citizenship faster.

Basically, there's google translate and deepl which is better than Google translate.

Also, as a blue card holder, you will get a permanent residence after 33 months with A1, I have A1 certificate but can't speak jack. As a German university graduate, you will get a permanent residence after 24 months with no reference to language. I have both.

You should have a language skill in the country you live in, same as Czech or Netherlands where nearly everyone speaks English...but it's not a do or die matter.

I have a friend who is a senior software engineer, works for FAANG, but can't speak German, he lives in Berlin and here for almost 6years.

If you don’t have skills, German is a must… you can't do warehouse jobs without German except Amazon.

I know nearly all German laws without speaking German, it’s easy these days.

I only support the user who said learning German is not a do-or-die matter, I know some of my classmates in the university that focused on German instead of skills and internships, but they are not still employed.

Learning German is necessary if you plan to live longer in Germany, but it's not like you'll die without German, and it's not like knowing German will get you a job that your skills do not qualify for.

Learn German, but don't be scared... It's not a 1 or 0 situation

Now that explains it better. You are absolutely right. As for me, I need it more than anyone since I’m a nurse and work in a Teaching Hospital.
Good luck in your endeavors!!

You are right, but to correct you. My job contract is in English, and yes, it's a German company. I also previously worked for a German company when I was a student, the job contract is in German and English.

I studied in Germany, and the Ausländer officer speaks English with me right from day one of my student permit, to blue card. I've been in Germany for almost 3.5 years, I can't speak German.

It's not a do or die, if you work in IT... My company emails, meeting and documentation is 100 percent in English.

But I have applied for an integration course, though; I intend to start in October.
Sir/Madam, why did you opt in for an integration course when you think you can do without German language ?
And are you also going to write your exams and take your classes in English ?
Don’t be deceived or try to deceive anyone. If you plan to have your life in Germany, you MUST learn German. And by the way, I have only been in Germany for 14 months and my language level is okay. My aim is to apply for a permanent residency before I spend 3 years here in Germany, therefore I’m currently attending a politics class. Don’t screw your chances!!

Lol depends sha on your location and work environment

I agree that learning German is important for integration but it's not a do or die affair from my experience. My work is fully in English and most residents here understand basic English. I've almost never met anyone here who can't understand English
You are completely right. Until you find yourself where you would have to require adequate knowledge of German. Then you will understand better.
Even if where you work they communicate in English, is your Arbeitsvertrag also written in English ? Have you been to the government offices? Did you find it difficult understanding the documents you were given to sign?
Do you prove your rights in English ?
I lived in Berlin, where there are a lot of foreigners and people who can speak English until I got a mouth watering job in a location where the people only speak and understand German.
When I did my driving test, first aid training and other government lessons I have taken, I didn’t find it difficult as it could have been for someone without any German knowledge.

To everyone here planning to come to Germany, wether you require the A1 certificate or not, try ti be learning German o. You will still require both A1 to B1 when you arrive here, no matter what visa type you came with.
You will find it difficult to work without knowledge of German. Everything would suddenly be scary to you.

Hi actually that’s applicable to everyone. You need a certified translator to translate them to you in German. You can also get an apostille on them in Abuja or a notary public.

Omabisco, i am in the same position. I was told it will take up to 15 weeks to get the pre approval.

Can u enlighten me on how you managed to do this if you have.

Hello everyone,

My employer is asking for German translation of my degree and Apostille of my Degree for the pre-approval. Has anyone recently done any of this that can guide where to do this?

Thank you

Can you help provide food items to carry along with you and not to carry. Should it be in a “Ghana must go” bag

I don’t know much, I only know I saved myself stress of carrying too much when I was traveling to Germany for the first time, you can carry any solid food items provided they are not fresh, they should either sun dried, fried or roasted. Package them well and you can travel with them in any bag you can check in, never in a hand luggage. But avoid liquid stuffs. That’s the far I know.

Good day everyone. Trust you are all doing good.

Please I want to confirm about the health insurance coverage for Germany. So apparently, there's a question on the visa application form: Do you have health insurance that covers the Federal Republic of Germany - long term stay. Tick yes or no.
The visa being applied for is an Ausbildung visa which is a long stay- 3 years.

How can one go about this health insurance coverage for Germany. Is it a very important document for the interview.

And yes! Someone helped us get a Reisekrankenversicherung (travel health insurance)
for 1 month. Does this particular insurance answer yes for the question on the application form?

Otherwise, like I asked earlier, how can one get this health insurance coverage for Germany or can the employer be of assistance in getting this health insurance coverage for the person?

Thank you in advance. I await your response.

Tick yes for your answer. They won’t ask you for insurance certificate during interview, they will only ask for it when your visa had been approved, then you can get a 90 days visa and take up a long term insurance when you arrive the country. No one can legitimately live in Europe without an insurance and the embassy knows that.

Thanks
Avoid traveling with palm oil, it’s your first time entering the country, avoid whatever will lead you to unnecessary interrogations. However, most airlines will not let you check it in. Save yourself the stress and buy when you arrive there.

Good evening! Our relocation agency in Germany requested for some documents including this

Marriage certificate with apostille and translation
into the language of your destination country - if
applicable

Who has an idea what the apostille entails and how to get the translation done?

An apostille is a document(certificate) that shows a particular document is authentic. If the document is issued by a Nigerian institution, I heard it’s done in Abuja, I’m my case, I got married in South Africa and my documents was certified by the directorate of foreign affairs.

My advice is don’t don’t bother doing this, it’s a waste of money, either ways you will get the visa, in my case, my spouse almost did that, but the cost was just unreasonably high. Hence we skipped it.
We ended up registering our marriage in our city when I arrived without the said cost.
Like someone had said, it only changed the status from single to married and doesn’t influence or facilitate your application in any way. Sorry in my opinion I don’t see how it does.
Aminattah:
Hello.
My hubby is trying to register our marriage in his city in Germany. The city registry told him to submit some documents e.g our wedding certificate, passport data page etc and to fill the verification forms (same type of form that lagos embassy issues for reunion verification). He was also told that he will pay verification fee and they will contact lagos embassy to send a lawyer for the verification here in Nigeria. I understand this is the same verification process I would undergo after my visa interview later in the year. Someone once posted here that registering his marriage in his German city made the visa process faster for his wife and kids in Nigeria, that's why we want to try it.
My question is;
1. Will I be made to pay N150k for another verification or I can simply present the evidence/certificate of verification from my husband's city (it should be ready before our visa appointment date)?
2. Does anyone have an idea of how much it will cost him (the city office has not told him the fee yet. His appointment is next month)? We need to be financially ready.
3. Has anyone done this? Care to share?
Thank you.

When presenting something like this endeavour to tell us the ko kko. This is why information on Nairaland is not applicable because people only present surface story
She doesn’t owe you that much explanation. People’s case differs, she tried to even explain this far, there are even possibilities that she could get German citizenship before her husband. The key thing there was translating her university documents and yes it was accepted by the German government as it meets a certain criteria for them and secondly she got her language certificate up to C1. Common, she gave it a whole lot and she got it.
Some of us would have preferred taking up mini jobs and believing the 1,400 they earn is a jackpot. Such people ends up spending a longer time before qualifying for neutralization.

This is not totally true.
Cameronians bring their spouses as fast as three months from application.
I have nothing to argue in this case, how many Cameroonian can you point that had their within three months?
Let me show you also Nigerians that got their fast, the cases differs based on individual situations.
I can also censor a chat with a colleague who had been fighting to get his Mexican wife to Germany for more than 2 years. Our government are behind those challenges we face. Mind you South Africans has a different case because they signed a treaty with the European countries on Apostille Convention that is The Hague Convention of 5 October 1961 (Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents). Please visit The Hague Conference on Private International Law to read more. This is why it’s easy to verify documents from such countries, but in others cases, they have to send a representative to manually verify those documents like that from our country Nigeria. Pointing out to Nigeria alone makes no sense in my humble opinion.

I have a colleague here in Germany who is from Tanzania and has been trying to bring his wife to join him, they face the same problem. Truth is Germany do this to everyone National that are not from the US, Switzerland, the UK and other European countries. It’s not just to Nigerians only.
And it’s mandatory for other Nationals that are not native German speakers to undertake their integration courses before residing fully in Germany.

Some persons have contacted me to know if I did anything fishy during my time, I always make it clear, right from getting my appointment to lawyer visitation and getting my documents back with visa, I did not offer or find anyone who asked for money, not even the lawyer that visited, in fact with the lawyer I was even careful not offering him water to drink, for it not to appear like a bribe.
My only worry was that they collected visa fee from me while my spouse was a German National. Which now doesn’t matter to me.
Beware of scammers out here!!

@nuel80 and house please any input here
With a visitors visa to Germany, I can’t really advice rather, I can encourage you to give it a try. I guess Germany tends to be very difficult in this case. Before I join my wife, I applied for a touristic visa three times between 2017 and 2019 with strong ties to Nigeria which includes but not limited to C of O to my house, my business and tax documents, letters of good conduct and recommendations from both my former bosses and socialites, a serving member of one of the political party in Germany who happens to be a member of my club (Rotary international) also gave me a letter of recommendation but they still find reasons to deny me the visas. Their reasons are always that they are not convinced I will return back. Since I joined my wife, I have not spend complete 8 months in Germany, so I don’t know what their reasons can be. They have coconut head.
Just give it a try and stay on the positive part. Good luck.

Two things are involved, have you relocated from the address you used when submitting your application? Are you using the same phone number? If you have moved and your phone number had changed, the courier will find it difficult to contact you. In my case, they called me that they’re on their way to deliver my docs. So be sure of these.

Probably you should have spoken about your experience, than using words like "faking" in your previous post, at least you've also heard from another person who had the PCR experience. Just FYI, my colleague is fully vaccinated and was returned because of PCR result older than 48hours, I also have someone who works in Lufthansa and confirmed it as a policy as at August 2021, So, its up to you to decide, its possible the conditions may vary by airlines and boarding points.

I strongly used the word FAKING, because a realized about 60 to 70 percent of Nigerians are anti-vac.
And yes, I flew Lufthansa from Frankfurt to Lagos and Lagos to Frankfurt in September/October without a request for PCR test, upon return a passenger was held because she had a fake certificate with her. Well I don’t know what happened with her after all.
But then you must realize that I am sorry don’t solve the problem when caught, that was what I heard her telling the police on that day.
Mind you, I work in a Krankenhaus and I have heard of people who are not Nigerians reporting to be fully vaccinated, upon check, you will discover they have no antibodies in them.
Hence I advice no faking, it’s safer to get the PCR test done.
