PoliticsRe: Buhari Unhappy With 2018 Budget Passed By NASS — Vanguard by numen(m):
micheal34:
https://www.vanguardngr.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Buhari-budget-2018.jpg

… but’ll sign tomorrow

By Soni Daniel, Northern Region Editor

There were indications, last night, that President Muhammadu Buhari was unhappy with 2018 budget finally passed by National Assembly and transmitted to him to append his signature.

That misgiving, notwithstanding, the President will tomorrow sign the fiscal document into law to fulfil a legal requirement and avoid the recrimination of returning the bill to the NASS due to the many distortions done to the budget he presented to the lawmakers on November 7, 2017.

A top source, who is knowledgeable in the matter, told Vanguard in confidence that the President was irked by the huge amount of money injected into the budget by the lawmakers and diverted to other causes unintended by the Federal Government.

The source said apart from jerking up the budget from the initial N8.6 trillion proposed by Buhari to N9.12 trillion, the NASS, as usual, introduced new projects, which have nothing whatsoever to do with the federal budget and funding.

The source said while the Presidency wanted the increment in the budget to be used for funding deficit, the NASS insisted it must be allocated to ‘projects’ decided by them.

The source said: “One discernible pattern seen in the document to be signed by the President is the unwarranted introduction of local government and state projects into the national budget by the lawmakers. That means that the level of ‘padding’ this year may be higher than the previous years.

“When the breakdown of the budget is unveiled, it will be clear to Nigerians that the ‘purchase of tricycles, sewing machines and sinking of boreholes’ programmes in the concurrent and residual lists, was given more attention than key national projects and programmes by NASS.

“But the President is not going to return the budget to the NASS so as to prevent further delay and stifling of the economy given the fact that the year is almost gone.”
The Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma, is expected to give a breakdown of the national budget on Thursday after being signed into law by Buhari tomorrow.

It will be recalled that the ‘padding’ of the 2016 and 2017 budgets led to a prolonged delay in the signing of the documents by the president and caused serious conflicts among members of the NASS, which led to the suspension of the House of Representatives member, Mumuni Jibrin, for 180 days.

His suspension was later declared illegal by a judge, who ordered that Jibrin be paid his salaries and entitlements for the period of his illegal suspension, as the NASS has no right to suspend any member beyond 14 days.

I am Igbo, yes Chioma is a good looking girl, but trust me, Chioma is not that beautiful to warrant all these noise from Davido. Life is weird, some guys have money but don't have good taste of women....if u see the girl they will see as hot girl, u will be laughing, I have rich friends like Davido who see average looking girls as the most beautiful and its good, God made it that way for a reason.

But honestly, if you visit Owerri or any area in Lagos where Igbo girls are in dominance; areas like Ago Palace Okota, Ikeja Computer village, Festac Avenue, etc, you will understand that Davido don't know what a beautiful girl is because u will see supper hot Igbo chicks and u will feel like divorcing your wife if u are married.

Even Chioma herself knows that she is just there, not as hot as Davido makes her appear, but all the same its good when your man admires you no matter how pretty or ugly u are, so David carry go cheesy cheesy
Gist!

It has not occured to most of ya'll that what truly tickles Davido might not be her outward looks only but other intangible things that have great weight e.g How she relates to him.

There will always be someone who is way prettier than our significant others anytime anyday. So, as Davido don find person wey him fit relate with in a way that makes him happy, make him carry-go (like you said)

Foreign AffairsTurkey: Attempted Coup Ongoing by numen(op): 9:47pm On Jul 15, 2016
(Reuters) - A group within Turkey's military has attempted to overthrow the government and security forces have been called in to "do what is necessary", Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said on Friday.

"Some people illegally undertook an illegal action outside of the chain of command," Yildirim said in comments broadcast by private channel NTV.

"The government elected by the people remains in charge. This government will only go when the people say so."

Those behind the attempted coup would pay the highest price, he added.

Foreign AffairsRe: British Exit From The European Union (BREXIT): How It Will Affect Nigerians!? by numen(op): 1:40pm On Jun 24, 2016
Litmus:
It might have had a mildly positive effect on Nigerians in the sense that much talk on the Britexit side has been that loss of relevant labor from Europe would be mitigated my employment drawn from the commonwealth. However, I've noticed that since president Buhari's comment that Nigeria is the most corrupt nation in the world, British Media no longer recons with Nigerians alongside Indians, Australians and Newzeland the way they did before. They mention Pakistan now in place of Nigeria. Before Buhari's comments there had been a slow and steady rise in positive Nigerian people stock in the media with mention of wealthy Nigerians socialites and the educational achievements of Nigerians etc.

Funny, just this morning, David Melor - the ex-conservative minister - commented that Osborn had made disparaging remark about the uk. Melor stated that the very worst thing that any politicians could do was denigrate their nation. But i guess Buhari was being humble and Nigerians have been craving humbleness.
I hope PMB will see @bolded and I pray Nigerians will be smart enough to reposition for the new UK by acquiring a skill set.
Foreign AffairsBritish Exit From The European Union (BREXIT): How It Will Affect Nigerians!? by numen(op): 8:43am On Jun 24, 2016
Britain has voted to leave the European Union, with the Leave campaign securing around 51.8 per cent of the vote.

David Cameron, who will address the nation shortly, is now facing calls to resign as Prime Minister.

While England voted overwhelmingly for Brexit, Scotland and Northern Ireland backed Remain. Statements are expected to be made by Sinn Fein and the SNP later today calling for a breakaway from the Union. London backed Remain but the turnout was lower than expected because of bad weather.

The pound crashed to the lowest level since 1985 as sterling fell below $1.35. Complacency about a Brexit outcome will come clear this morning, as out of hours trading suggests that the FTSE 100 will drop by 8.8pc, or by some 560 points. The fall would be the third worst in history if stocks ended the day down as sharply.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/06/24/eu-referendum-results-live-brexit-wins-as-britain-votes-to-leave/

Possible Effect on Nigerians:
1.) Immigration was a hot topic and was a big point for those that voted for Exit. Now that they have achieved their target, it is only obvious that they are going to make sure that they clamp down on illegal immigration and people staying in the UK with expired visa.

2.) Job loss was also a major talking point and employment criteria will very much become more stringent. But as a skilled immigrant I believe you have nothing to worry about.

You can add other areas you think it will affect nigerians.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: 6 Annoying Things Nigerian Interviewers Do When Interviewing An Applicant by numen(m): 3:03pm On Jun 13, 2016
olaric:
Everyone blames an applicant for not making the most of the opportunity he or she has when in front of an interviewer. Sadly, no one has deemed it fit to beam the searchlight on the interviewer—some Nigerian HR persons can be damn rude sometimes. Most HR persons like playing “god”—can’t blame though, the economy is in a terrible shape. It is a world where an applicant is always at the mercy of the employer. Here are seven annoying things Nigerian interviewers do when interviewing an applicant.

Keeps you waiting without a word of apology
The letter asking you to attend an interview or chat states that the interview is for 9 am in the morning—and you are there before the set time. However, some HR person playing “god” walks into the venue by 10 am without a word of apology and acts like you are a-nobody. I mean this is typical of most Nigerian employers.

Talks down on you
Some HR persons would talk down on you and treat you like you are a nobody. It had to be said that no responsible company employs interviewers that treat candidates badly.

Acts like he was not once an applicant
It is so disheartening that some HR persons act like they were not once in your shoes (na your papa get the company?). They not only talk down on you, but expect you to act like a superhuman who has answers to everything about the company.

Cuts you off when you are speaking?
Lousy HRs don’t know a jack about manners—and that’s why they treat applicants like they are beneath them in status. They ask a question, and before you could finish offering an explanation—they cut you off without offering any form of apology.

Don’t Know a Jack about the job he/she is interviewing you for
It is not so difficult to know if an interviewer has little or no knowledge about the job he/she is interviewing you for. Anyone involved in an interview process should be as prepared as you are when interviewing you—regardless of whether it is his field or not.

Comes to an interview unprepared
Most HR persons don’t read through an applicant’s CV before the ‘D-day—ugh! When an interviewer starts asking you to tell him about yourself or ask you to walk him through your resume. They have no questions about your background because they have never given it a moment’s thought—this is absolutely unacceptable.

You can add yours.
Sweeping assertions!

I was a member of an interview panel on friday 10/06/2016. We were divided into 2 and we certainly did not display the traits you just mentioned here. I'll take your points chronologically:

1.) We were on time way before the candidates but one particular candidate complained to my team that he just got the text for the interview that morning that we should try and give people at least a day's notice so they can plan themselves. We promptly apologised and reaffirmed that it will never happen again. We kept apologising the guy nearly got embarrassed.

2.) There's noway I can prove this point, but we don't talk down on candidates even those that blatantly lie.

3.) The experience humbled me to the point I asked a colleague to take a picture of us at it because I remembered that I was at the opposite side of the table 8+ years ago. It's a humbling experience. An opportunity to show God that you are grateful and not intoxicated by power.

4.) Again I can't prove this but it's definitely not in our MO. Though some candidates can be extremely tempting. Only God knows the kind of Tori/y some interviewers hear.

5.) I know jack about the job (8+years), my colleagues also know jack about the job. We were a perfect mix of HCM staff and field officers. (The job the candidates were going for was a field job)

6.) I invite you to come and read through and memorize 3000+ CVs. We scan through your CV once you come to our table. One of the reasons we asked candidates to tell us about themselves is because that question has proven to be a good way to catch liars. Some will give you a different info on their CV, a different info on the form they filled and a different info when you asked them to tell you about themselves. There's a reason for that question NOT because we don't take a look at CVs at all.

In conclusion not all companies are the same.

I might be wrong.

The post said "The chairman of BUA boldly boasted of how he has been funding various investments and assets outside Nigeria with foreign exchange from his offshore company."

And I understand Round Tripping to be "Sourcing FX at a lower rate taking it out and bringing it back into the country to sell at the black market or anywhere at a higher rate"

So my fellow nigerian @godoluwa my question is valid.

I don't use diesel. We rely on PHCN although the site location gets at least 8-10hrs (daytime) of light. I can crush 300 bags (24tons) in a week of six days (excluding sunday) if there's steady light without the usual interruption. That will give you an average of 4tons/day.

To attain full production you need constant light. If you run the business at this level and with local machines using Generator, you'll be struggling to break even if not posting loss.
AgricultureRe: Investing In Palm Kernel Processing by numen(m): 6:17pm On May 11, 2016
I am currently into this business and I can tell you almost everything you need. The business is not easy as advertised but it's lucrative when you get your processes working seamlessly.

The hardest part of the business is not setting up the factory or building/buying the machines, it's sourcing quality raw materials that is the problem.

A breakdown of my machine cost:

1.) Toaster - N160,000
2.) Expeller - N500,000
3.) Filter Press - N250,000
4.) 2 18 Ton Storage Tanks - N45,000 each (second hand)
5.) 10 Metal Drums - N2,800 each
6.) Electricals - N300,000 (site dependent)
