mayor2013:Its original nah wetin the carton and mechanic talk but let's see sha. if it serves me 2 years I am ok. its not RBI though this one nah micota ![]() |
Oyindidi:we men like to cheat women after all they don't know much about how things work ![]() take heart |
shock absorbers arrived beam bushing arrived. Beam bushing goes in first not a easy task but thank God took a few minutes sha as the mechanic nah expert. pix 1 brandnew rear shocks pix 2 and pix 3 beam bushing side by side pix 4 new shock absorber and old one side by side. The old one has spoilt because when I depressed it, it never rose again which shouldn't be so and during depression air/gas was escaping. The new shock absorber top bushing will not be used the mechanic says it gives way easily. That's the bushing bolted to the car body, the old ones top bushing is gone so cannot be used. He will source for tokunbo for both side at 1k for both units. will keep the new top bushing just incase

Oyindidi:so give him inner money so your job can go as planned ![]() look if mechanic wan fleece you, let there be 10,000 of you monitoring him he will fleece over and over again. Just tell him you don't mind him adding 1k or 2k extra to the real amount let him just do a very clean job for you that's all you care about, the guy may back off a little. You sef dey do remote offline repairs you are not on ground to access things yourself, just dance to the mechanics tune but when the beat is getting too much, abeg hold off till you are able to show face. |
now the rear. The rear is connected by a beam (lap English, itan yoruba ) The lap is a high tensile steel where the rear suspension is connected shock absorber and springs, the ABS pump units. The beam is now bolted to the chassis in between that joint is a bushing which has failed. Also the driver side beam bushing is gone and the bushing is noting but an over scrapped rubber. Shock absorber both will be changed (7k for tokunbo and 9k for brand new the 2 pairs) both will have their bushing attached, spring/coils are ok, rear drum and shoe is ok. The passenger side beam bushing is ok will still manage that 1. changing of rear suspension 9k for brandnew both 2. changing of driver side beam bushing 6k for a pair pix one shows where the bushings will go into the beam and the two holes above it is where the bolt will hold it to the chassis pix two is the shock absorber with bushing squeeze like pomo ![]() pix three is to show the car is sitting on bricks not jack for safety reasons ![]()

Oyindidi:Every gear has a pan for holding oil either the bottom plate (pan) has reached its service life or he didn't use the right seal for the job. Also you have to know where the oil is leaking from, it may not be the bottom plate could be leaking from the connection of the gear to the engine. Or the gear unit itself. Your case is still physical inspection try to check it out yourself |
first point of call observation. For the front everything seems to be ok, I had noticed early so my linkage and tyre is ok, tie rod ok, shaft just changed 2months ago still ok no oil drops noticed around engine area so for front to change 1. Lower arm only. This part is what links the suspension to the chassis. chassis to ok no rust except for muddy smeer due to the area I live. 2. power Steering seal still leaking oil this has been on for 1 and half years cost of changing seal at ladipo 30k. I have been to ping a quarter of a litre every 4 months that one is cheaper. The leak is very minimal and doesn't affect steering feel.

So the sienna is 4 years plus and here we are again with the noise associated with suspension works. Nov 2017 I changed my front suspension , steering bushing, linkages. Then after all that there was still a major rattling at the front, I then changed the suspension bushing which bolts it to the car body in the engine bay. This fixes cost me over 55k including workmanship. Along the line like 3 to 4 months ago, I got a broken lower arm which resulted in linkage damage, front passenger side tire write off. I had to fix that too at a whooping 35k including labour. Now it's rattling, squeaking, creaking and clanging sound at the back and front passenger side. Close observation and I found out that 1. front driver side lower arm broken into 2 2. The back side has some much sound and road play that I don't need horn and the car has become a tourist attraction. |
CarEnthusiast:BMW is synonymous to the ultimate driving machine, forget the bloated size of the X6 it is still sport oriented and will leave slow pokes in its dust with its I6 turbo 302hp or the 4.4 turbo V8 dishing out 402hp, if you now wish to go on all out with the M series having a 547hp you ask for it, and you got it. fuel economy seriously just go and buy picanto abeg maintenance dealer preferred to avoid expensive repairs. availability of parts shouldn't be an headache you can order or place a call to radautoworks. besides bmw are machines built to withstand the harsh conditions thrown at it. The engine is only your concern and proper oil usage and timely maintenance would protect you. 2nd hand value please go and buy a lexus Rx or Venza. We buy BMWs because we are just different from others |
ablesolomo:The only known complaint is its sluggish acceleration, it is same drive train as the N16 nissan almera I used before. the 1.8L engine is very common among nissan compact sedans. Just ensure to have cam and crank shaft sensor extra when travelling long distance cause this two can fail at anytime and you get furcked in the ass big time ![]() parts cheap, body doesn't tolerate hits. It is prone to deshaping. Please no electrical abuse. As for cost I don't know try olx to get a price range. |
Radio on my galaxy S5 I don't actually use it on phones but I hate the fact that it doesn't support it. |
Oyindidi:The bolded you showed making bend turn usually more pronounced in U-turn the sound of kah kah kah is caused by worn out shaft water and sand must have entered and the Boris are now spoilt. You will change the shaft and grease the replacement. The sound you hear on uneven roads depends it could be bushings (rubber paddings) depending on car type they are sometimes many, could be bad vehicle linkage, could be absorbers, it can also be exhaust hitting under carriage. Only physical inspection can pinpoint. if you don't trust your mechanic seek opinion of 2 other mechanics also if you have a man at home (am guessing you are really a female) let him help you confirm what it is if he knows about cars. could be your neighbour or fellow transporters. |
Oyindidi:if the sound isn't coming from the engine no need for engine type. I think what you mean is mazda 626 let's know the year then you talk about joint probably ball joint cause I have never heard of bolt joint. Also sound cannot be diagnosed easily unless a physical inspection is done. but you can narrow it down by telling us when the sound is pronounced eg making a bend turn, passing uneven road, at a certain speed of xkm/h etc. |

I don't know about the V8 fx45 but the fx35 is an ok vehicle and most people who have issues is always electrical not mechanical. The fx35 requires original 100 amps battery nothing less, can manage on our rubbish petrol after all the VQ35DE is fitted to more than 10 nissan vehicle line up,also 20inch standard. Then comparing a fx to highlander haba the lexus Rx base to base the fx beats it in luxury. in fact the fx has no trim it's luxury luxury and additional luxury all the way but Rx has poor man's trim, middle class trim, noise makers trim ![]() |
Oyindidi:yes you can ask please also let me have your car model and possibly engine type. e.g mazda xedos 2002model with 2.5L V6. |
mrbigseun:Tokunbo is expected to have little fixes here and there, used is not new. Scan the car first and with code gotten you will fix the issue. Ensure you collect codes from the scan technician not a bill of fix. |
egesie:I would give handling and performace more to the passat. if your long distance journey is to north pick the 406, if it is to the east pick the passat. |
egesie:just jejely buy the benz the E90 trumps the benz in most aspect and should even be considered due to year difference but the parts of that E90 are like a double edge sword that cannot be weaved when directed at an opponent. The electronic power steering fails my guy nah suffering and smiling pick the benz and feel among abeg. |
jodeci01:The LX570 is an upscale land cruiser. The GX460 is smaller than the LX570. Since LX and land cruiser are same the comparism is LX vs GX. The LX is a full size luxurious off Roade The GX is a mid size luxurious SUV. The LX beats GX in serious off road experience. They all share same engine though you will have 4 petrol engine variants in the land cruiser to choose from, the lexus LX and GX would probably be 1 engine due to region it was imported from. The GX is a 4.6L V8 14.1L/100km highway 18.8L/100km city The LX is a 5.7L V8 16.6L/100km highway 23.8L/100km city All the vehicles of choice are reliable with very strong chassis and body parts and are reliable daily drivers. The GX has the practical fuel economy and luxurious too with 7 seater against 8 seater in the LX/land cruiser. |

Timagex:when you see an Audi stamped with quattro it means it is a 4 wheel drive one. The quattro assist in balance and stability |
DUNKA:if your daily runs doesn't incorporate carrying bags of rice or packs of bottle drinks the CRV is good enough. Better in mpg ratings. Both vehicles have there ups and down like the crv with its camber caving in when used for carrying heavy kg around, the first generation sienna with its permanent second window bad for ventilation. both vehicles are good on all generations for fuel economy crv for luxury sienna. |
Olorunmiga:can't you start your own thread why must you paste this on my own thread? delete it and create your own thread please |
generationz:The 2002-2007 had gear issues in some specimens so gear failure was common also it came only with a CVT transmission which is very sensitive to fluid wrong or fake fluid usage means replacement. Then the 4wd had issues too with transfer case or so. Its a luxurious vehicle on its own but doesn't like an iota of abuse or manage manage repair follow that thread to learn something https://www.nairaland.com/509862/murano-transmission-problem |
