As long as the engine is good, the valves ,pcv valves, and pistons and no sign of sludge or abuse ..he can use full synthetic.....

do you think he would be willing to open up the engine to confirm all these. Even the name of the oil brand used says a lot about the maintenance culture of the owner

You can try MRS full synthetic 5L 5w40 at 12500 naira for your own case.

For your friend he should buy 5w30 or 10w30 preferable he buys 10w30 first and test on his engine before switching to 5w30. if the 10w30 doesn't short oil excessively and no smoke from exhaust then he is good to go next oil change he can then try 5w30. But he must ensure the oil is mineral not synthetic.

What I prefer or recommend doesn't make one better than the other besides my opinion would always be an opinion the decision is and should always be yours to take.

I don't think a family man driving a scion TC is ok as the front passengers would come down before rear passengers can. Also imagine the stress you have to go to just to adjust the seat for rear exit passengers as your wife or whoever is sitting in front cannot operate the seat. But with all that a car that sends signals to babes (could be positive or negative depending on your relationship status).

The city derives it's name from its function, a city car with good mpg, able to take the day to day drop off and pickup and reliable too.

so the choice is yours a babe magnet (TC) or a family sedan (city)

Vehicle will be mainly for not too frequent weekend interstate trips.
Both are similarly priced ( the Pathfinder has a lower mileage and has been used very sparingly by a close relative who has a fleet of cars, whom I'm trying to convince to let it go)
Please how is the bypass done.
Heard of it before but I don't know the level of expertise needed to effect it

A Google search should point you to the right direction. It has to do with redirecting the radiator hose feeding the transmission to somewhere else. Just a lay man's definition of what to do.
It was a design flaw in the pathfinder and xterra after that fire your vehicle and enjoy peace of mind

your recommended engine oil is 5w30 oil weight. Just ensure you buy from reputable manufacturer with good reviews not emeka and sons oil 5w30 or baba sue engine oil 5w30.
all these Mobil, fort oil, total etc are reputable companies. The oil is expensive but it will protect your engine for years.

don't just go and buy any Mobil or total oil ensure it is 5w30 synthetic oil.
