for the Camry the 2.4 2azfe also has a factory defect, but if you can get a moderate mileage and do proper inspection fine. Also Camry and robbers/vandals are like bread and butter

There is no definite time, remember I bought mine brand-new in Nigeria not Tokunbo with high mileage, so I changed the shaft 2 times for 10years

pls Nairalander help me, i bought a Toyota Siena 02 less than 3 weeks ago.
when we bought the car we drove it down to ibadan, i gave it
To mechanic to fix brake pads, changes spring and chek the arms e.t.c
To a painter to do some touching so after like a week the battery was giving issues while we were still doing some finishing work on it. we will use another battery ti jump start it (starting it with another battery then put my own into me it), i realize my battery will not still start after running the car for about 20-30 mins.
so i bought another battery and things seems normal, went to rewire to, run a scan (ABS light is on dashborad since we got the car and the scan showed that the letf hand side of the front Tyre sensor was no tightened which was tightened and the light goes off) fix securtity lock (car Door lock), frod light.
After 2-3 days i left house drove for about 500meters and packed, when i moved again and had to pack after about 50 meter, i realize the engine did not start again it was cracking but not starting, so we put another battery and it started, meanwhile my new batterry is less down 2 weeks, so i called a re-wire to run a check with he siad i need to change the alternator which i gave him money to changed, and i droped my battery with a charger, so later in the day the re-wire brought the car, (his shop is about 3km to my house), i tried to start the car with the battery will use in the morning it was cracking as well as it could not start not until i put my newly charged battery. i did not pay the re-wire that i told him to let me test the car first which he agreed.
The second day i tested it, drove it about 2km packed if for hrs and it started thus i paid the re-wire all this happened on tuesday 7/7/2020,
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday i checked the car daily and it started (i will just start the car for about 2 mins and switched and go out with another car).
This morning been Sunday we used the car to church use AC, sound and drive for about 4-6 km to the church after 2hrs service i drove back home 4-6km again but on getting to my compound i realize the car radio was seizing which i did not bothered, so i packed and went inside only for me to come out 3hrs later to drive the car it began to crack again.
pls what is going on ? while will a car that started normal and i drove i drove for about 4-10 km today be cracking for low battery again.

I had this same issue recently and it was due to partial contact. tighten your battery head well, also check the alternator if it is charging the battery.

fan run direct would ensure engine doesn't reach the optimum working temperature, meaning the ECU will continue to dump more fuel into the cylinder to try and get engine to the optimum temperature.

That's the reason why most engines with fan ran direct always have their rpm not falling below the 1 mark

you shouldn't have much issues with engine and gear box. you may just have problem with brain box if there is need for change and some peripheral parts.

mileage is meant to be different even for same car model and year, depends on where it was used and how it was used.

some mechanical part do fail on high mileage use, but high mileage doesn't necessarily mean ill maintained vehicle.

Nothing is wrong with the Automatic, that Avensis is European vehicles and they prefer manual than Automatic transmission in Europe.

fuel consumption isn't bad, it's a 1.8 to 2.0L engine, just like 1 or 2L consumed more than Corolla

I have 2003 camry which I've been using Mobil XHP oil for its service but when I started noticing shortage of oil after a while, a mechanic recommended another oil and the problem still persist. I use to buy a litre oil every week and someone later suggested I can be buying that 700 naira oil from any total fuel station to top it until another service (when I can use my normal oil to service). Some mechanics suggested ringing the engine to curb d oil shortage issue while some are against the idea (stating that since d car is not smoking at all)
I'm thinking of going fully synthetic if that will solve my issue or I should just ring the engine

2azfe is known for strip head bolt and extreme oil burn for the US market variant especially those with high mileage.

yours was aggravated because of the use of palmoil buy new engine better for you.

04 to 06 comes with a 3mzfe 3.3L V6 5 speed auto

07 upwards comes with 2grfe 3.5L V6 5speed

fuel economy 3.5L is better

cost of parts 3.3L is cheaper

maintenance cost-3.3L is better

reliability I will pick 3.3 because it is steel engine, it can tolerate overheating compared to the all aluminum 2grfe.

Your other point just has to do with what trim you buy, XLE, LE, limited, touring etc. I will advice you stay away from the AWD version, parts are expensive

American cars don't have good resale value in Nigeria. The explorer is a good vehicle, parts are a bit pricey but they don't breakdown easily. kazeeming the Ford would be the beginning of the end

it's like you have travelled out of Lagos for a while anything that makes you leave Lagos by 6am, just know that

Lagos to the oduduwa round about if you are passing through southwest is 6hrs extra 3hrs added

Lagos to Ore is 5hrs if you intend to pass the Edo state boundary road.

you can't predict traffic if your car is in good condition I advice you move around 3am or 4am, to beat the estate to mowe traffic park at Danco filling station and wait till light up to continue your journey

There is only always traffic at J4, sometimes it can last for 3hrs and the root cause is

1. Police/Army/NSCDC/FRSC used that area for check point

2. The road construction is ongoing exactly at that spot

3. There is only movement at one side of the lane with a narrow bridge. sometimes trailers have to pass one at a time, believe me there are tons of trailers on that road

4. if accident occurs which is a very common occurrence traffic is bound to occur if the accident is between big rigs, then, the traffic is lockdown style

The road is mosty freeway express especially when you leave ijebu ode with smooth road, you can even finish your speedometer there , the road is equally safe no highway robbers Even when I transverse in wee hours but police are obtainers for the road even to private vehicles
