Politics / 'Buhari Tower' Abuja Named After President Muhammadu Buhari by nwoke37: 7:00am On Aug 10, 2018
Buhari Gets Tower Named After Him

The construction of ”Buhari Tower,” a signature infrastructure named after President Muhammadu Buhari, would commence in the next four weeks in the Centenary City in Abuja.

The project was conceived in 2014 to serve as a remarkable project to mark Nigeria’s 100 years of existence.

It was learned from one of the co-developers, Alhassan Baba Dantata, that the ‘Buhari Towers’‎ would house many residential flats which would be sold to middle-income earners.

At the formal unveiling of the City’s master plan on Wednesday, Dantata said that naming of the towers after the incumbent President had no political ‎undertone whatsoever.

“The name ‘Buhari’ represents the poor people of Nigeria. So as a businessman and an admirer of the president, I’m only doing this as an honour to the pro-masses vision of president Buhari.”

Abuja Centenary City set to take off as NEPZA confirms removal of obstacles

Managing Director of the Nigerian Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA), Mr. Emmanuel Jime, said on Wednesday that all obstacles hindering the take-off of the Abuja Centenary Economic City have been cleared thus paving the way for its implementation.

Speaking at the presentation of the City plans and programmes in Abuja, Mr. Jime revealed that a report to this effect has been prepared and is waiting to be presented to the President for his approval.

“Most of the grey areas that have hindered the take-off have been cleared through the involvement of NEPZA with the FCTA, NIPC and other relevant agencies,” he said.

Mr. Jime who said the Abuja Centenary City was conceptualized and initiated at the same time with Eko Atlantic City, expressed happiness that the project is about to witness a gigantic leap.

He revealed that with the Abuja Centenary City, there would be no need for Nigerians to go abroad for shopping and tourism, adding that this would also stem capital flights occasioned by Nigerians visiting places like Dubai and the United States of Amerca.

Two traditional rulers in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT): the Chief of Juwa, Alhaji Idris Musa, and the Gomo of Kuje, Alhaji Haruna Jibrin Tanko, acknowledged that the indigenes who were displaced from the area have been fully compensated and are being resettled.

They said that about N1.23 billion was paid out as compensation, which covered payment for economic trees and other facilities such as relocation of the power grid that passed through the area.

Mr. Jime expressed optimism that within the next two months earnest work would commence in the over 1,260 square hectares of land located along the Airport road, Abuja.

Earlier, the Managing Director/CEO of the Centenary City Plc (Centenary Economic City Free Zone), Dr. Michaels Ike Odenigwe had itemized five areas that make the City exceptionally different from other free zones within Nigeria and beyond.

Such areas include the first Urban Safari park in any free zone in the world, an international polo ground and creation of over 250,000 job opportunities.

Dr. Odenigwe who said the entire project is private sponsored, revealed that most of the proposed projects have already been taken up by investors from both within and outside the country and particularly Nigerians in the diaspora.

He assured that the Abuja Centenary City would be the flag-ship of all free zones in the country because of the volume of infrastructure it would provide.

One of the investors present at the occasion, Alhaji Alhassan Dantata disclosed that his company is constructing the polo ground and the highest tower in the city which he has christened Buhari Tower and which would provide accommodation at N15million per block of flats.

He said that the ground breaking ceremony for the tower would take place within two months while work on the polo ground has commenced.

The Executive Director of Front Range (the developers from Dubai), which is partnering with the City authority, Mr. JaimalShergill, led the visual presentation of the different components of the project, which he said was conceptualized in line with the concept of Dubai.

You're shocked because you're used to some internet rumours where you massage your ignorance, visit other nations to stop this empty bragging.

My brother, I recognize the truth when it’s found... Nigeria’s private sector is bigger and stronger than Kenya’s...

Yes there are several indicators that Kenya ranks higher than Nigeria, no doubt... As well as other indicators Nigeria ranks higher than Kenya..

Don’t know where Kenyans got the idea that they had a stronger private sector than Nigeria... weird, kinda funny

Which private sector when your economy is one of the most least diversified in Africa and Kenya is vice versa...

These are the most diversified economies of Africa

C’mon... ur a smart individual... Nigeria’s economy is diversified... but Nigeria’s exports and government revenue aren’t... Oil only contributes about 10% to Nigeria’s economy but 90% of exports and 70% of government revenue.. Like I said there are more multinational Nigerian companies than Kenyan...

You're clealry confused... You can have a rich government/country but a poor population ie corruption... btw Nigeria has a bigger middle class than Kenya

I mentioned that Nigerian companies are more multinational than Kenyan companies... undecided undecided wasn't referring to foreign companies..
It's obvious Nigeria has a stronger/bigger private sector than Kenya... The data is there

BTW Nigeria has just received the free wifi from Google... one of the few countries in the world

Anyone knows there's nothing positive that Nigeria has above Kenya, apart from population...

Nigeria has a bigger gdp per capita... Nigeria’s way richer than Kenya.. Nigeria has a stronger private sector, example the richest black man is from Nigeria... Nigeria has more multinational companies on the continent than Kenya...

It’s all about perspective

I know it's informal, not mainstream and thus does not dominate anything. I have nothing else to add on your military prowess, really. tongue

Yet millions of Africans know of nollywood including you... what’s amazing to me is how Nigeria managed to spread poor quality, informal movies across the continent and it became popular

Define dominate? Are Africans thronging to theatres to watch nollywood movies? Do we even know the latest nollywood movie? Anybody here knows? Nigeria and Kenya can't go to war, that's a red herring argument. Tackle the militant herders then talk.

Nigeria’s nollywood is a bit informal compared to Hollywood ... most watch outside the theatre...(but that’s changing rapidly) u exactly know what I mean by dominate.. U as well know that Nigeria ranks higher in military prowress...argue with the rankings...

Kenya is a country with lots of potential... continue investing in infrastructure and reduce corruption, and Kenya will be set.. hopefully in the next 2 decades Kenya will become high income/ upper middle income if all goes accordingly

You're lying,Nigerians in Kenya adds nothing to the growth of our economy apart from being charged some investment fees by our government
There only few Nigerian banks here which are privately owned by some few individuals from your country.
Those banks have very tiny customer base here to the extent that mpesa and our local banks are giving them stiff competition.
This is not such that spectacular cause even there are some Kenyan companies operating in Nigeria.

You people usually feel bitter when hitten back with facts.

Name any Kenyan bank in Nigeria.... which country has more multinational companies??

I always laugh when I hear people comparing a useless country like nigeria to Ghana.
How on earth will any sensible person reason that way?

What at all do they have in nigeria?

Their smelly filthy overcrowded Lagos was ranked as the worst city in the world.

Their newly built abuja too was recently ranked as the 9th worst city in the world.

Why do you even think their mumu citizens are running from that zoo in their millions?

They lack
1.electricity
2. better educational system
3.better health care
4.potable water
5.security etc.

They don't have anything in that zoo at all

You'll here them talking about abuja n lagos meanwhile they have over 36 states of which the aforementioned slums doesn't even constitute even 3% of the entire land size of nigeria.

Majority of them are living in abject poverty .

Bokoharam are killing some whilez Fulanis are also killing some.

These mumugerians who are suffering are the same making noise on social media.

Shameless morons.

You foolish smelly dark ugly mumugerians can't even compare yourselves with animals in Ghana.

Arrant nonsense

The reason why nigerians are running to Ghana like refugees is due to the fact that Ghana is far developed than nigeria.

We have everything any advanced country has.

We have beautiful city.
We've hosted more AFCON than any Africa country ( 4times)

You are as ignorant as your president.

Nigeria already has a high speed line from Abuja to Kaduna.. And already doing another from Lagos to Ibadan

So Nigeria has lightrail, monorail, and high speed... hmmmm... Ghana catch up
