FamilyRe: How Can You Tell A Good Man? by OAM4J: 4:55pm On Sep 28, 2010
There is no easier way to tell if a man is good than to study him and find out what a lot of people who know him have to say about him.
FamilyRe: Complicated Case Of Adultery. by OAM4J: 4:50pm On Sep 28, 2010
It's complicated quite alright, but I dont support living in dishonesty.

If the foundation is wrong or the relationship is not working out, come clean out of it and move on.

The games they are playing is more terrible than the problems facing their marriages.

if their game comes out to light, they will be seen more as the problem and not as victims of wrong marriages.
FamilyRe: What Are Your Views On Retirement Care Homes / Old Peoples Homes? by OAM4J: 4:36pm On Sep 28, 2010
Ayowumie:
old people's home is a sign of bad omen in the family.
haba! This is 2010 nao.

We need to change our mentality about these homes. They are not meant to be a dumping ground for destitute, sick and childless adults.

Like Chaircover said, their is nothing bad if the place is tidy, clean and with enough care facilities and professionals to cater for these old people.

It might even be better to have them among their age-mates for better interactions.

The important thing is not to abandon them there, there is need to visit and communicate with them regularly

As i said on a similar thread to this, I have read many of Balewa speeches, but the assumption was that they were written speeches prepared by others, judging from the way a typical average Hausa man speaks

Now I understand why he was called 'the golden voice of Africa', and I really feel bad he was taken out so early before our generation. He was really ahead of many of his generation.

Unfortunately not too many credits & honor were given to him from many historical accounts, the impression one gets is that he was only Ahmadu Bello's stooge.

Another person i wish to hear/watch speak is Samuel Ladoke Akintola, read he was an intelligent and great orator too.

PoliticsRe: Pdp Never Zoned Presidency -jonathan by OAM4J: 9:21am On Sep 28, 2010
Mallam Bukola Abubarka Saraki doesn't seem to get Uncle Joe's argument.

If there is zoning in Kwara Governorship race, Hajiya Gbemi Saraki should not be contesting for Governorship at all

But the party is given all a level playing ground including her to contest despite the fact that the brother from the same family/senatorial zone is the outgoing governor.
PoliticsRe: Pdp Never Zoned Presidency -jonathan by OAM4J: 9:14am On Sep 28, 2010
Atiku, IBB, Saraki Fault President’s Claims

Former Vice-President and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential aspirant, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has said President Goodluck Jonathan’s claim on zoning is “ludicrous”.
Also, former military president, General Ibrahim Babangida, in his reaction, said it smacks of dishonesty and lack of integrity to say that the presidency is not zoned in PDP.

Meanwhile, Kwara State Governor Bukola Saraki has also said PDP will decide who will eventually become the party’s governorship flag bearer in the state and that the party will provide a level-playing field to all aspirants.
He was referring to President Jonathan’s reference to a situation where Senator Gbemi Saraki-Fowora, the governor’s sister, is running for the gubernatorial election after Saraki’s two terms as a demonstration of his claim that there is no zoning at the governorship and presidential levels in PDP.

Atiku said: “It is either President Jonathan is not a member of PDP or is living in denial of the same principle of zoning which saw to his emergence as vice-president in 2007.”
He said for the avoidance of doubt, the position on zoning and power rotation in PDP constitution was borrowed from the federal character provision of the 1999 Constitution as amended.

Atiku said zoning was the foundation of the party and referred President Jonathan to Section 7 (2) (C) of the PDP Constitution, which states: “In pursuance of the principle of equity, justice and fairness, the party shall adhere to the policy of rotation and zoning of party and public elective offices and it shall be enforced by the appropriate executive committee at all levels.”
He promised to mail a copy of the party’s constitution to the president.
Babangida said: "The president's attention should be drawn to Section 229 of the report of the 1995 Constitutional Conference which talks about rotation of political offices including that of president and governors, from where the PDP derives its inspiration to include zoning to its constitution.”

In a statement by his Director of Media and Communication, Prince Kassim Afegbua, the former military president said: "Refer the president again to the meeting of Expanded Caucus of PDP in 2002 in which 47 persons including President Jonathan, then the deputy governor of Bayelsa State, voted for zoning out of 51 persons present, where it was decided that zoning should be the order between the North and South.
"At that meeting, President Jonathan was number 34 on the attendance list. Refer the President again to Section 7 (2) (c) of the PDP constitution, which is still subsisting. All these were the steps taken to ensure that zones are used to maintain stability and unity of the country.

“Anyone trying to be opportunistic by saying there was no zoning lacks integrity and honesty, which are the hallmarks of a true leader. Those fouling zoning today are themselves beneficiaries of the PDP zoning formula. It is bad and wicked politics to change the goalpost in the middle of the game."
Saraki said it was unfortunate for the president to make the claim on Kwara, which he described as factually incorrect.
He said: “Mr. President should refer to the statement by the Kwara State PDP Chairman regarding who will fly the gubernatorial ticket of PDP in Kwara State. It would be recalled that the State Chairman, Alhaji Yusuf Ayedun, stated that the party would provide a level playing ground for all aspirants in the state.

“As a result, half a dozen candidates from across all the zones are known to have picked their expression of interests and gubernatorial forms. Thus, as we are insisting at the national level, we are also committed to due process about respecting party decisions at states and at all levels. This is what we are calling all PDP aspirants to do—to respect agreements and party decisions.

”It is therefore both unfair and unfortunate for the president to have made this factually incorrect allegation. And in any case, the distribution of political positions in Kwara State over the years, even before PDP entrenched the principle in its constitution, has been guided by fairness, equity and even spread. The first two democratically elected governors of the state were from Kwara South, followed by one from Kwara North, and two from Kwara Central.”

I have never joined a losing side in my life, so, ask me what happens when he wins because he is going to win. I have no plan of losing because I don’t want to lose and I am not going to lose and there is no chance of losing whatsoever. Nigerians are accessible people. They are not going to have a President that is not honourable, that cannot keep to a promise and cannot honor the constitution of his party. Why would they give this man the mandate? The PDP will not give him mandate.
liar!

Kanti Bello was on the side of losers who opposed the Installation of Jonathan as Acting President.
PoliticsRe: Tafawa Balewa Interview by OAM4J: 7:16am On Sep 28, 2010
The fact of this thread is that 1. Many people have never heard/watch Tafawa speaks. 2. He spoke eloquently and with an accent different form a typical Nigerian/Hausa man we see around.

Whether speaking with a foreign accent is better or worse than speaking with a Nigerian accent is a debate I am not interested in right now.

Good night Mr Ikengawo.

PoliticsRe: Tafawa Balewa Interview by OAM4J: 6:57am On Sep 28, 2010
Ikengawo:
no, he's not really saying anything brilliant, he's just speaking.

with a british accent

which is cool

but everyone is being mind blown as if he's telling a poem.
I don't see where is grasp of the english language surpasses that of buharis.

and what are you talking about, every post suggested it and would have kept suggesting it had i not spoke on how humiliatingly slave like nigerians can be.
Looks like you have a problem with comprehension.

Quote one post where someone comments on how brilliant his statements are. People are only surprised to hear him speak so eloquently and educated.
PoliticsRe: Tafawa Balewa Interview by OAM4J: 6:47am On Sep 28, 2010
Ikengawo:
in fact upon listening the man has a full blown english accent, which is ok, i have a full blown american accent.

but you people are just saying its eloquent because it's coming from a white accent and not an african one. slaves.
If Buhari said those exact same words for some reason he wouldn't be called eloquent as a poster above has implied, mind you buhari is VERY eloquent.

im sorry you people are ashamed of your fathers. I couldn't imagine how miserable life would be with a stark inability to see yourself as a dignified human being because of your hatred for the culture that's yours.

i loved the video though, i wish it was longer!
Buhari Eloquent?

I beg to disagree. He has many good qualities but being eloquent is not one of them.

You need to listen to his recent interview on NVS-site hot seat.

And nobody is complaining or ashamed of his fathers, people listening to him for the 1st time are surprised at his accent cos they have not heard/watch him speak before
PoliticsRe: Tafawa Balewa Interview by OAM4J: 6:39am On Sep 28, 2010
Ikengawo:
a lack of nigerian origin accent makes you eloquent?
No. lack of the typical Nigerian accent does not lead to being eloquent, and I don’t think any one/post is suggesting that

But if you listen well to that interview, you'll find out that he shows the 2 traits. Very few Nigerians especially from the North have such traits.

I have read many of his speech, but this is the 1st time I hear/watch him speak, hence my shock.
