You hit the nail on the head. That is why I have maintained that if ever we support Jonathan for next year, he must pledge to do for us all things we would have done for ourselves on the seat. He would effectively be serving the EASTERN interest (Anambra, Enugu, Bayelsa, Imo, Rivers, Cross rivers, Akwa ibom, Ebonyi, Abia and may be Delta).
The East is a socio-political and economic block.

If he does that, we can (together) go to the north to negotiate acquiescence and support. They are the most politically matured part of Nigeria and so would understand, especially since it would be a united Eastern demand.
Leadership on the part of Jonathan is all it would take, and he can get 8 years more in office.

Trusting the South West for votes would be his biggest mistake. undecided

If he comes with that south south BS, we would dump him for a northerner. Simple.  cool
i laugh in Guadeloupe grin grin grin grin grin

so you think it is easier for you to get the support of the North than to get the support of SW.

sometimes I wonder if some of you in SE have learned anything at all about Nigeria Politics, the way some of you reason

SS seems to know better than you. Trust me SS with GJ, if play the card well will get the presidency in 2011 with or without SE - Fact.

embarassedHello Room, There are some issues which I will like you people to advice me on. The issue has being in bad shape for the past 8 months and I don’t think I can bear it anymore. I need someone who will advice me please.
I am 27 yrs old……. My name is Matoye. I have a brother who is married, but sometimes, he like to chase other girls around and he would take them to my house claiming that thats where he lives, I used to follow this my immediate blood brother around after our closing hour from the office. One day, he took me to one of his girl friends in her shop where she sells provisions, before we got to the girl place, he asked me to go there first and pretend as if I want to woo her. I did that and me the girl were flowing fluently, though, at that spot, she was just laughing and joking with me after my friendly woo approached. He met us on sit and pretend as if he doesn’t know me (that was our plan) after some hours, we boated to laugh and says, we have ran a test on her…,
That evening, she follow us to the house (that’s my house) and they both had nice time. The next week (that was year 2006-2007) she came to my house without notice, she didn’t meet my brother, I told my brother on fone that she was around, my brother says I should tell her that he has travel and I should warn her not to be coming without notice. I couldn’t say that because I don’t want her to feel embarrassed. I just told her that he has travel, she came back after that day…the lady has being coming for almost 10 times and met my brother’s absent(its not his house) later, she later understand that its not his house that he has married, but she didn’t disclose to me that she has understood that, she kept coming to my house. One day, I was tempted to sleep with her. Since then, she swiftly transfers the relationship on me. She now commit herself to me seriously  and she always come to my house without the knowledge of my brother. She got pregnant for me after 6 months of friendship, she didn’t tell me until she finishes the termination before she inform me that shes was pregnant.
I met another girl and I promise to marry this girl, as time goes on, unfortunately for me, everything start turning upside down for me. I got no job again and to feed my self became problem. I prayed and as well went to my pastor for prayer; my pastor told me that the girl I proposed to has a bad spirit that was affecting me. I need to live this girl with immediate effect if I don’t want to die in mystery. I love this girl so much, but I have no option than to leave her. I left her and I WAS left with this my brother’s friend again… after I left this girl, I went to my pastor and he prayed and confirmed that my destiny has been secured. That I should not have anything to do with the second girl again.
This my brother’s friend has being there for me (though, she has two children which the first boy is about 14-15 yrs, d second daughter 10-11 years) she provide whatever I need with passion. I appreciated her and I told her that “I don’t know how much I will do to appreciate you and what I will use to appreciate her” she told me that the only way to appreciate her is to marry her officially and that’s what she want from me.(though she has another married man that promise to marry her too in lagos, he called her everyday) I was scared that my brother issue is there, he shouldn’t hear whats between me and her. Ok, whatever the case may be, let me consult my pastor first, I didn’t tell my pastor the background of our relationship I just want to pray over the relationship, my pastor says, her star is not compatible with my, I should not marry her… I was confused, I decided to tell her emphatically, I told her and she fainted… she has being crying all day and night since then, I don’t know what to do about this,  please house, advice me on this issue

^^^ u dont get it,its not the fact that right now,he has not been found wanting, its the fact that the aspirations of most Nigerians to have a clean break from any Iwururu tendencies and/or relationship that has been dashed not for want of people who can perfectly fit our criteria of who should be the inec chair, but our leaders judging from their antecedents, want someone they have something on to use as a bargainning chip.for God's sake there is Gen Ishola williams who is NOT A CONSULTANT to inec!

INEC under iwu was a man-made disaster, everything and everybody the man accepts/embraces is a pro-inec,this may include jega, iwu that did not even approve election monitors that are anti-inec DOES BUSINESS with jega?i still cant place the voice of jega among the many vociferous voices that condemn iwu administration, even yardua complained of IWU.Prof Lai Olurode seems to be the one i can vouch for!
I doubt you know Jega that much.

Anyway, he has come to stay as Inec Chair. Time will tell if he will go the way of Iwu or not.

‘When Attahiru Jega was the President of ASUU, Maurice Iwu was the deputy Chairman. When Iwu became the chairman, Jega became a consultant to INEC. How can such a man with such a past inspire confidence in Nigerians that he will conduct a free and fair election,? he queried.
The quote does not take anything away from the man's credibility. That he had worked with Iwu in the past does not mean he will behave like him.

If the guy had done anything wrong, let us know, else they should give him the chance to do the job.

Nigerians hail Jega’s choice as INEC boss

A former ASUU president, Prof. Assisi Asobie, described Jega’s appointment as a sign of a good thing, saying Jega was a good material.
In a telephone interview last night, Asobie, who succeeded Jega as ASUU President expressed confidence that the Bayero University Kano (BUK) VC could do the work very competently. But two other past Presidents of ASUU, Dr. Oladipo Fasina and Dr. Abdullahi Sule-Kano, would not comment. They preferred the current ASUU president of the union to address the matter.
However, several phone calls into the incumbent ASUU president, Prof. Ukachukwu Awuzie, did not yield any result as he refused to pick the calls, neither did he return the calls.
Asobie said he was surprised that Jega was eventually named given the many names bandied in the media about those to succeed Iwu.
According to Asobie: " Remember that he was a member of the Uwais Panel on Electoral Reform, so to that extent, I 'm confident he is going to do the job very well. He is also a consensus builder."
However, Fasina who succeeded Asobie as ASUU President said: " Remember that he was a former ASUU President like me, so anything I say now would be interpreted to mean ASUU's position and if my position goes in contrary to ASUU's position it would send wrong signal to the people."
But the NLC lauded Jonathan for appointing Jega just as it tasked him on credible election next year.
In an exclusive interview with The Guardian in Abuja last night, both the President and General-Secretary of NLC, Abdulwahed Omar and John Odah, respectively described       Jega as a man of honour who would do the right thing given the prevailing circumstance.
Omar said: “Prof Jega’s appointment is a welcomed development to us in the labour movement. Going by his antecedent, we are convinced that he will do the right thing. On our part, both labour and our civil society allies will give him every support he needs to perform.”
Odah said that as a member of the Uwais panel on electoral reform, Jega was well positioned to perform well.
Odah asked Jega to live by example and deliver credible elections in 2011, saying: “We believe that as a public officer for so many years, he will remain firm and steadfast in his beliefs. But the expectation is for him to conduct credible elections in 2011. It is a herculean tasks and we and our traditional allies in the civil society shall give him the necessary support for him to succeed.”
On his part, the Chairman of the Transition Monitoring Group (TMG), an umbrella body of civil society groups involved in election matters, Mr. Moshood Erubami, in Abuja yesterday, said: "We are pleased that the President in his magnanimity has chosen a person that is acceptable. His antecedents make us comfortable as former ASUU President, a respectable civil society activist and a human rights practitioner. We only hope that the government will allow him to do his job."
Speaking with The Guardian last night on telephone, an Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) bigwig who did not want to be named said: “This unusual choice is an indication that President Jonathan means well and may not run (the 2011 presidential election race) after all, He may have been fooling critics after all, This is incredible, ”

PoliticsRe: Attahiru Jega, New Inec Chair. by OAM4J: 12:00am On Jun 09, 2010
Jega, was head of BUK’s Political Science department before he was appointed its VC in 2005, a tenure that is supposed to end in October.
ASUU under him and the then Babangida government negotiated the 1992 welfare agreement for increased salaries and improved funding for the university system.
Incidentally, when he was ASUU’s leader, Iwu was the union’s deputy president.
Jega was also a member of the Justice Uwais-led Electoral Reform Committee.
A calm but resolute negotiator, Jega’s team also recommended the idea that all companies operating in the country should pay a form of education tax. The idea was bought by the Federal Government, eventually leading to the establishment of the Education Tax Fund (ETF) via a Decree in 1993.
As BUK’s helmsman, Jega, now on the other side of the divide, found himself in contention with his colleagues over similar issues over which he and other ASUU executives had confronted the Federal Government, about 18 years earlier. But with the experience he had gathered as a former union leader, Jega skillfully doused the  tension and peace reigned at the university.
Jega has also been linked with fundamental changes that have occurred so far at BUK, although, critics still accused of him of being slow in taking decisions on some major issues.
