Horus: A revolution do not mean using violence, it just mean Re-Evolution, a new evolution. We have to use more of ours brains to uplift ourselves and the people around us as much as we can to create a New Evolution. But dont expect anything from The leaders of Nigeria, because we have to use the "do it ourselves" method. I like your non violence definition of evolution, but you fail to give examples and how a country like Nigeria can re evolve without violent. And for all asking for evolution, the question is who will lead one? How many of you are willing to join the force of revolution. Am sorry but the truth is many Nigerians are selfish, cowards and noisemakers. |

I think this contest of Nigerian at home vs The Diasporas is leading us no where. We have opened more than 3 threads to debate all the issues and differences with 0 gain. I think we should focus more on the real problem of taking the destiny of our fatherland in our hands. Let us discuss how we can build and develop the Nigeria of our dream, a country we can all be proud of.
I heard a lot of people say the generation of Diasporas after us will have nothing to do with Nigeria, but I know if Nigeria attains her full potential, everybody including non Nigerians will want to identify with her. |

cre8tivity: God sees us equally. you may be next (poor or rich). we must respect life regardless of what our neighbour has chosen to do. we must also realize that we can not take over the duties of the king of all king. maryam and her husband may end up in heaven. my question for you is: where are you going (hell or heaven)? judging maryam is more or less telling God that he sucks. so, tell me where you will be. Don’t get it twisted sister, forgiveness belong to the repentant. Even if the Babangidas have repented their sins before God, what about their inhumanity to man, what fruit of repentance have they given the many Nigerians they denied the luxury they enjoyed. As per my stand b4 the creator, let Him alone be the judge. For I doubt if you can boast of yours too. And don’t get me wrong I do not rejoice at her calamity, neither do I take the position of God, just that the name reminds me of the evil done to Nigerians. |

cre8tivity: the 2 words i have been looking for are: HOPELESS COWARDS. so, the only way we can fight back in nigeria is to wait for the wives of our bad leaders to die? it's completely absurd and a clear indication why this country remains on the floor. if this is our plans to fight bad or corrupt leaders in nigeria, i'm afraid and very sorry to let you people know that we have a very long way to go. babangida's wife is dying, but sanni abacha's son is about to become the next governor of kano, another saraki is about to claim another top position in kwara, furthermore, one of babangida's children is also looking to claim another top position in abuja; so what difference does it make that maryam is dying? why are we here celebrating? and what exactly are we celebrating? we need to stop thinking backwards, roll up our sleeves and find a better method to move forward. rejoicing that another human beings (good or bad) is fighting for her life is definitely not the way. but one thing is certain: God is great, he knows today and tomorrow, and he isn't a nigerian. therefore, there is a light at the end of the tunnel for maryam babangida. i pray for maryam's speedy recovery. Sister, I also get your point. Nobody claims this is the solution to d many corruption and leadership problems in Nigeria. It is a case of the rich, powerful, untouchable also cry. |

ednaa: It is good to know that we have contributed to our economy.Imagine a country with 70% of its people living below poverty level all due to corruption in high places. The government should learn from the Nigerians in diaspora to be passionate about its people for i tell you if not for passion it will be hard to spare a penny cos it don't come cheap. we can even do better if the government lift the unnecessary ban on vital things like second hand clothes, used fridges the list is endless some times you have the need to give this things to your loved ones but no it is prohibited how can a poor country like Nigeria prohibit things like used items not even the UK do,no sensible government will do a thing like that it is all politics what they have succeeded in doing is kill competition in the market. Imagine how much the country will make through custom fees, am so sad cant even send my used items to my younger ones. Welcome to Nairaland. Your 1st post and quite sensible too. |

Jonathan Worries over Business Relationship with S/Africa From George Oji in Abuja, 11.14.2009 Vice President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday expressed concern with the existing bilateral relationship between Nigeria and South Africa, which he said has continued to favour South Africa over the years, “particularly in the balance of business opportunities.” The vice president made this observation yesterday in an address he delivered at the commencement of a business roundtable held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, to mark the 10th anniversary of the Nigeria/South Africa Bi-National Commission. Jonathan expressed regrets that while the bilateral relationship has yielded enormous benefits for South African entrepreneurs with investment in Nigeria, “similar opportunities for Nigerians to do real business in South Africa do not exist.” He also voiced the concern of many Nigerians that the South African authorities have continued to erect discriminatory obstacles against Nigerian businesses in South Africa. Said Jonathan: “I strongly suspect that in the course of your deliberations, there will be strong complaints from Nigerians who want something done about the balance of business opportunities and penetration between Nigerian and South Africa businesses. “They and a considerable number of Nigerians are concerned that our bilateral relations have yielded enormous benefits for South African entrepreneurs with investments in Nigeria, while there are little or no opportunities for Nigerians to do real business in South Africa.” The vice president said some other Nigerians have even accused South African authorities of erecting discriminatory obstacles against Nigerian businesses in South Africa. “Indeed, some Nigerians have questioned the very rationale for the Bi-National Commission if our relations and the benefits they confer are so skewed and if South African authorities are engaged in alleged acts of discrimination against Nigerian visitors, residents and businesses in South Africa,” Jonathan said. Jonathan observed that Nigeria’s relation with South Africa was very important to both countries and noted that the two countries must not allow “some irritating consular and administrative distractions to undermine their potential to uplift the lives of the citizens of the two nations.” He expressed optimism that the roundtable would go a long way in cementing cordial relations with the two countries. http://www.thisdayonline.com/nview.php?id=159735 |

Politics › Re: Ibb's Wife Dying Of Cancer! by OAM4J: 9:09pm On Nov 14, 2009 |
RichyBlacK: If you think/thought it's a gift, then you're mistaken. The actions that are inline with the emotional response may include buying a gift (cards, etc.), however, that emotional response itself is not a gift.
Are you duty-bound to give it? This question is meaningless. There is nothing to give.
Sympathy is an emotional response to the pain and suffering of fellow humans. You can either stay through to that emotion, deny it or suppress it. You can do whatever you like. And I f i dont feel it the way you just analysed, does it mean am wicked? May be I need to change, because sometimes I just dont feel it for some people in pain |
Politics › Re: Ibb's Wife Dying Of Cancer! by OAM4J: 8:57pm On Nov 14, 2009 |
RichyBlacK: You say it as if it's a gift, it's not. It's simply a human emotion in response to the suffering of fellow humans.
Not showing sympathy to the suffering of fellow humans (or even other life forms) is the result of deliberate suppression of that emotion for whatever reason. Sorry RichyBlack, until now, I tot its a gift. I tot it's my right to give it to whomsoever i want, u just make me feel I am duty bound to give it, am I? |
