Fhemmy, I doubt if many people here understand your question. The more I think about it, the more I realize that many of the reasons are just not real, except for some religious and societal values. (like it’s a sin to have sex outside marriage and your parent wanting you to get married)

The only tangible reason I see here is that marriage gives u some legal right over your partner to do whatever you like with him/her which again can be interpret as bondage depending on who is loosing out.

My Conclusion: remove the element of religion; it is better and safer not to get married.

Before I go on, I would like to make it clear that I am a full blooded Nigerian though I hold a British passport. I am as patriotic as anyone living in Nigeria. We really need to use this forum as well as other similar fora to engage ourselves in meaningful discussion on how to make Nigeria a better place for all of us to live. Nobody is happy in deriding Nigeria or all our people living there; its only fools who will jump into conclusion rrhat by critising those in power and who are responsible for the precarious situation in which we are will condemn us for speaking the truth. I believe in God, but I also know God forgives only those who repent of their sins. I believe in forgiveness too and I can forgive her and her family, but too bad, they have never acknowledged they did evil to me & my country not alone apologize.
