Fhemmy I have to agree with Mama-gee and Michellin. An engagement ring is more than a gift. It’s a symbol of a promise. If the promise is broken, then the ring has lost is significant, it is only proper it be returned to the giver. In the case of divorce couples, it’s usually unnecessary to return the ring because in this case the ring is not a promise but a broken covenant. None of the couple is expected to still be wearing the ring or use it to consummate another relationship, neither would they want to sell it, because of it’s significant. So divorced couples only keep the ring as a reminder of broken covenant or they just throw it away |
But its such a shame. Why cant we? with all the available resources. Its a SHAME. |
Thank you everyone. for all the post and offers I received in my mail box. The only reliable option I still have now is to fix the money. Actually the money is in a fixed deposit account right now. For those of you advising me to invest in lands, well i did that before somewhere in Okota Lagos, the Omo oniles disregarded my fence and was about selling the land, before info reach me. I had to sell the land for peace of mind. I would not mind buying a house. But I guess 3m will be too small to get one. But if any one knows a property (with verifiable documents) in a good location within that amount. Please let me know. Thanks |
princekevo:You just took the question from my mouth. i was wondering why she didnt answer the question. Because every other agency might be biased including efcc, but your embassy will/must protect your interest. So we want to know, did you involve them? if yes what did they do/say? |
May God help you not to fall into the hands of scammers this xmas season with this your advert. BTW, How did you get your own visa? tru an agent or you processed it directly? |
I got your mail, Thank you. I have not a single idea on that line of biz. I am studying it though, and making enquiries. If I made up my mind on it, I will let you know. Once again Thank u. |
^^^ You are welcome. Cheers! |
^^^ I knew for less than 3 months. Yesterday will be the 4th time she is asking me for a favour. I dont mind helping once in a while. But really I feel its getting too much. Thanks I get your points. |
^^^ I agree with you. Thanks. You know there is a way she makes the request and make you feel guilty, like you are a mean person if you dont respond. Guess there is no easy way to end it. |
Annie69:check your mail box |
Charchar:Thanks, I get your point. |
coolier:I made the mistake of telling her where I work. So it's easy for her to put 1 and 1 together to get 2, if you know what i mean. |
^^^ trust me there was and there is nothing between us. Just dont know how to say No, when she and I know I have it. Or you think I should not mind whatever she feels? I have no intention of just cutting her off, I just dont want to continue the father xmas stuff. |
It think it should be clearly noted that the promise was not an injection of fresh 6000mw into the national grid courtesy of Yar'adua administration but to generate some megawatts added to the existing one to make up 6000mw. Maybe, somebody can give us an insight on what the last regime handed over to these guys so that we can correctly appreciate their lack of capacity to deliver.
When Obj was leaving, they were generating more than 3000mw. Suddenly after Yar'adua came in, it went down to 2000mw. They promised to generate and distribute 6000mw by Dec 2009. Today they are generating 3500mw after 2 years. What an achievement!!! |
I don’t know if this is the right forum to ask this. There is this Nigerian girl I met some few months ago, we chatted for a while and exchange nos. Ever since then she has been calling me asking for one financial favor or the other (usually nothing much) which I always oblige. Now I feel its getting too much and I am not interested in any serious relationship with her. I don’t know how to lie that I can’t afford her requests anymore (I know she will also not believe me) and I don’t also want to insult/embarrass her by just saying NO (guess am too soft). Anyway is there a nice, non embarrassing way I can stop her requests? |
princekevo:My bad. Why did I think that was the least they could do after 2 years in power? |
its equally bad. the former is usually the most popular of the two. i say its a very bad reason because marriage NEVER completes anyone contrary to the popular myth and belief. you have to complete yourself FIRST. but when people twist this, they usually and most often found themselves even more empty
I fully agree with you on this. |
What is realistic with this government? Another promise not kept ![]() |
The December deadline promised by the Federal Government to generate 6,000 megawatts of electricity supply may have eventually been a mirage as only 3,500 megawatts have so far be generated. The indication to this was disclosed by the Minister of Power, Dr Olanrewaju Babalola, in an interactive session with newsmen during his official visit to Gereku power station located at Ajaokuta, Kogi State, at the weekend. Dr Babalola revealed that power generation, as at the weekend, stood at 3,500mw but explained that the most important thing being put in place was to have efficient power system, “whether we realise the 6,000 or 10,000mw and this is what we are trying to do.” While submitting that the Federal Government was committed to improving power supply in the country, the minister said that efforts were in top gear to ensure 100 per cent connection of the power generated to the grid. Speaking on solar energy as an alternative power supply, Babalola, who lauded the technology, however, said that solar energy as designed could only deliver a fraction of what was expected, stressing that the energy was not as efficient as it should be, particularly, in urban areas, adding that its components could not be sourced locally. http://www.tribune.com.ng/23112009/news/news9.html |
@OP Me too I tire o. if it is not some expired nollywood stories, it will be some virgin stories or some gals/guys bashing theories… so tired of them. Now I don’t visit romance section like before. |
Elisabet, did u involve the American Embassy in Nigeria in the whole issue, especially when you went to Nigeria? If so what role did they play? If not I think they (the embassy) are in the best position to help you. If all you claimed are true and genuine, the embassy will help you. Trust me, if American embassy says you have no case against him and they are unable to help you, then you are HELPLESS. I will say forget him and move on with your life. |
Pls let them be. If anything let the husband finds out himself. All you can do is to discourage her from doing it again. |
linuxuser:Nuhu, I agree with you so much on the highlighted. Nothing last forever, and I am equally waiting to see what will happen next. |
citizenY:I wonder o. ![]() 0hsisi:Even Becomerich's posts and maps makes more sense than this |
A good development |

chika98:Even when/where this true love and companionship you talk about exist, cant people just remain lovers? Must they marry? BTW where is phemmy? |
sayhi2ay:Very True!!! Same stupid reason our faulty constitution will not be amended. Can somebody please tell me what exactly they have achieved to justify the billions they received annually |

michelin89:Not taking anything for granted. I make my position in the light of today’s reality and today’s cultural standards ![]() Hope this debate is not affecting, the daughter I spoke about, if for the sake of the daughter I might change my stand o. ![]() |
N101:I agree with you 100%. N101:I did not forget. I as I have stated this in one of my earlier posts. But I hope you know that even societies/communities have changed their values and believes (especially towards marriage) N101:Again I agree with you. Only that the people you are refering to will be withing the 5% margin I stated. In the light of today's experiences, standards and values |
