Nairaland does not encourage insults on public figures, rather we encourage members to respect them especially the president and his office. However, Nairaland will not ban or penalize members for their negative opinions on these public figures which some might found provocative.

We therefore strongly advice members not to insult any member for their opinions on public figures they find provocative as doing so will be against the forum rules and warrant a ban.

As much as some of us are attached to these public figures, we should understand that they are answerable to the populace and if they feel insulted by comments on Nairaland, they are free to register here and defend themselves.

Permit me to share the analogy that came up while moderators were debating this matter: No one encourages indecent dressing, but outside sharia states, there is no law against indecent dressing in Nigeria, if someone get provoked by a lady that dressed indecently and went further to rape such lady, he will be found guilty and the lady will be acquitted.

If someone says the president is clueless, Buhari is bloodthirsty, Tinubu is corrupt, please give reasons why you disagree with such comments without insulting the poster or the poster parents.

That said, please respect public figures.

What personal mails? The warning and advice are in moderator section and am sure all moderators are aware of it. You have a personal bias towards other ethnics and you claimed you are stubborn when it comes to Ibo/Igbo debates and wouldn't listen or accept any other view. You also banned people for misspelling Achebe and your name but I haven't seen you ban people for misspelling other public figure names from other ethnics. Even if you did, there is yet a rule against these, that is why your actions were being corrected.

Anyways, I have nothing to discuss with you and wouldn't have bothered replying you but for the false allegations. You can continue doing whatever you like to prove you are the HNIC. Good luck!

PointB: While I have (re)stated my objection to high-handiness of the new MOD aka Ikenna, I think it is disrespectful for Mukina2 (or any other MOD for that matter) to unban forumers banned by Ikenna (a fellow MOD) without consulting him or explaining rationale for such action. It is even worse if in undoing Ikenna's action, protection of another ethnic group is the overriding motivation for the action.

Put succinctly, if Ikenna's allegation (against Mukina2) here is true, Seun should either call Mukinat2 to order, or relieve Ikenna of the MOD responsibility if he thinks he is not doing a good job. Ikenna should throw in the towel if this allegation is not redressed.

He was advised and warned not to moderate according to his own rules but to follow the forum rules and if he feels there is need for more rules he should make a case for it, yet he continued doing things his ways. This is not a military section, it is politics section, there is a civil way to go about things yet he will not follow that route. He has an assignment to do, when he goes overboard, those who supervise his actions have a duty to correct his errors.
