http://nairametrics.com/analysis-lafarge-africas-proposed-n140-billion-in-rights-issue/The company says it wants to raise a whopping sum of N140 billion, which is currently about half its current shareholders funds. This means debt owed its parent company may be converted into equity. A $493 million loan from parent company Holcim was converted into quasi-equity in June 2016. The loan was then assigned to Caricement BV, a related company of Lafarge. The company placed the naira value of the loan at N139 billion in their 2016 FY annual report. Under the terms of agreement, both the loan and the annual interest of 6% are repayable at any time within the discretion of Lafarge Wapco Considering that this is expected to be a debt equity swap, Lafarge Holcim will not need to stump out that cash. Rather, N107 billion from their outstanding loan of N139 billion will simply be netted off. The balance N40 billion will be contributed by other shareholders who take up the rights and then passed on to Lafarge Holcim. For shareholders, whilst debt has effectively been repaid, a new more expensive capital in equity had been injected. Shareholders will have to deal with smaller earnings per share and lower return on equity as we do not envisage any immediate pass through to profits from this deal.
Buy or sellThere could be a push for a buy on the anticipation that significant shareholders may be willing to prop up its share price. Lafarge is currently trading at a price earnings ratio 0f about 9x. However, the long term outlook of the stock seems bleak as such any buy should be short term and flipped once target price is met. |

Agbaletu: Rosskii will disagree with this submission because Nigeria is the best and most developed country in Africa. Nigeria can only rival countries in Europe and Asia. Nigerians used to be happy people but i doubt if we are now. We all hope for a better country but we should not call ourselves what we are not. It is good to tell No-Nigerians that everything is good but once we are at home let's be real. That's why Fela called us suffering and smiling people. We always find comfort in our tragedy. |

EVarn: Compare the industrialization between South Africa and Nigeria,SA is far more heavily industrialized, hence the huge demand for electricity. In case you dont know,South Africa has 4 times the amount of heavy industries that Nigeria has,its not about people alone when it comes to power generation; 2/3 of South Africa's power generation goes to its industries. I'm not supporting our ineptitude as a country, but if we want to criticize, let us be factual and unsentimental. Ask yourself how did we less industrialized than South Africa. Nigeria was far developed and industrialized than SA in the 80s to Early 90s. Today most of the industries have relocated to SA, Ghana, Kenya and smaller African countries. Just look at the mess called Ajaokota and NNPC. |

EVarn: The problem is that many Nigerians are quick to compare Nigeria(with a population of 180 million) with another country B(with a population of 20 million) and say,"see, country B has constant light!,chai,Nigeria is a failed state!", "can you imagine, minimum wage in country B is 150,000!,Nigeria is a cesspit!". If you were to find out how much power country B is generating, you'd discover that it would be vastly lesser than Nigeria's(as in the case of Ghana,Rwanda,Zimbabwe),because they have a very small population and landmass, its enough for them. Nigeria is definitely underperforming, but it would be a deliberate act of mental redundancy to begin comparing small African countries with us,anyone who does that needs psychatric evaluation. Say what you know. South Africa is generating more than 40k magawatt with less than 50million population.
Nigeria is yet to achieve 10k megawatts with more than 159 millions.
Whose fault is that. |

Rosskii: Do you even understand the thrust of this thread? Your post is off-point. So your point is Kenya should not be compared to Nigeria, since our population and size is not the same. Your are wrong. |
Politics › Re: STOP Comparing Nigeria To Smaller Countries. It Is DAFT. by OBAGADAFFI: 10:46pm On May 06, 2017 |
Rosskii: We are referring to DEVELOPING countries. But even among developed countries, the same criteria I used is applicable.
Kuwait, Macau, and Brunei, can claim to be ''more advanced'' and ''more developed'' than the USA, because they each have higher living standards than Americans.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_GDP_(PPP)_per_capita Using the Human Development index. South Africa, Seychelles and few North African countries, are developing fasters than Nigeria. |

Tolexander: Discussing politics other than "Jonathan was bad, " Buhari is good" is like discussing politics with molluscs.
Why on earth would Nigeria and Zimbabwe or Togo be placed on a scale of development and claiming the latters outweigh Nigeria on the scale And why not. Population don't determine development. US is 323,995,528 yet more developed than less populated countries |

NSE Automates Rights Trading and Settlement..........Explaining the Rights trading and settlement process, Bajomo remarked that “for an investor to be eligible to participate in rights trading, he/she must have a CSCS account set up through a licensed Dealing Member firm of the Exchange. In addition, the investor must fund his/her broker with the consideration value, premium and transaction fees, prior to execution of his/her mandate”. Prior to this automation, trading and settlement of rights, where an investor decides to sell on the floor of the Exchange, was done manually. ..... http://www.nse.com.ng/mediacenter/news_and_events/Pages/NSE-Automates-Rights-Trading-and-Settlement.aspx |
