Liberty90:Of course it started under Obasanjo, however it was not only allowed to continue, it got worse under GEJ. Hopefully the new guy on board would do something about it, if not for anything else, but for the want of revenue. |
kingbasil:Read the last paragraph of what I wrote, I'm sure the answer to your question is well spelt out in that text. Thanks |
kingbasil: Liberty90:Most of this rubbish was not just instituted but also allowed to flourish right under Jonathan's nose. GEJ continued to grant fraudulent import waivers to every 'big man' that promised to support his re-election, at a point, the Nigerian Customs was bitterly lamenting a loss of revenue in trillions of Naira due to these import waivers granted to big men and even NOI was not spared in their attacks. http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/153709-nigeria-customs-service-indicts-okonjo-iweala-says-import-waivers-massively-abused-under-her.html But while the NCS accused NOI, little did we know that the woman was not only innocent and just following orders from above, she at a point also began lamenting the same fraudulent import waivers being granted by GEJ himself. http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/okonjo-iweala-huge-revenue-lost-to-fraudulent-waivers/208949/ But now some ignoramuses think it is Buhari's handwork and they even go ahead to paint an ethnic/religious/tribal colouration to it. Anyway, I am very confident this mess would be stopped very soon the moment this government remembers it. If not for any other reason but for the want of revenue. |
Dangote would soon take over from government completely. May God preserve the mans life and give him more wisdom. Sometimes I wonder whether he's the only 'big man' in Nigeria, why can't other big men do things like this? Why cant state governments champion massive projects like this? |
TimothyNkenu:Was $1million cash found in Amosu's residence or not? I wasnt expecting a response anyway cos there's no response you could have made which would make any sense. |
TimothyNkenu:The EFCC says they found $1million dollars cash in a soak away pit in Amosu's residence. Few days later, a picture of money in a bucket surfaces online by God-knows-who. Was it the EFCC that released that picture which you posted? A lot of educated illiterates just litter the Nigerian lanscape. ![]() |
Liberal2020:I thank God you pointed out a solution in you comment. If you agree with me that there's a solution, then it's obviously not IMPOSSIBLE. If everyone knows that the 3 northern zones always have their way whenever they come together, then the question is, what stops the SW, SS and SE from coming together when they want to achieve a purpose? Are we cursed? |
Nicepoker:When a military announces its plans of invasion, do not go thinking you are smarter than the military that makes those announcements. Btw I wasnt the one who made the announcement. |
tonychristopher:There is a clear difference between 'opposition' and endless 'nagging' like a scorned 2nd wife. Everybody cannot like Buhari and nobody is asking everyone to like Buhari (elections are loooong over) but there is something called 'minding your business' or 'not giving a damn' when a person you don't like passes by. If we must be honest with ourselves, the way most Igbos are carrying this Buhari's matter on their head today can obviously not be classified as 'opposition' or 'not giving a damn,' what we have today is clearly a case of people nagging and stressing themselves unnecessarily as if Buhari will rule forever - at most Buhari may only even rule till 2019. It is high time Igbos returned to the 'we dont give a damn' mode and stop some unnecessary nagging which may not be beneficial 'development-wise'. This is just my opinion though. |
As far as I'm concerned, the typical hausa-fulani man does not like an igbo man but if there is any special hatred or bias buhari has for igbos today, it is as a direct result of the way the SE has been treating him since the pre and post 2011 and 2015 election era all because of GEJ. It is high time the SE realises that elections are over now and that GEJ is no more; this is the time to go back and attend to our businesses and forget this buhari matter because buhari will not even be president forever. The whole talk about buhari's PTF marginalising SE or any region at all or favouring the north is absolute foolishness and falsehood. I can beat my chest and say buhati did not harbor any particular hatred for igbos especially when he picked igbo running mates in 2003 and 2007. All these allegations and counter allegations are just GEJ sentiments stemming from 2015 elections. |
And Umeh wins unopposed!. As long as PDP is extint, thats good news. |
MayorofLagos:Bro, the joke is on you, you are the dumb one here. In fact I didnt even know people could be this ignorant. FYI, exported agricultural produce, especially the perishable ones are usually moved by air. The idea is to get them to the end users as fast as possible whilst still fresh. Imagine putting ripe paw paw or banana in a ship and sailing it to europe in a 2-3 weeks journey? There is a reason we have cargo planes and there is a reason the Sam Mbakwe airport owerri is an international cargo airport. The report clearly stated it that an air cargo company was involved. |
Willie is working willingly ![]() Sometimes it pays not to be in the 2 main political parties (apc & pdp). While others have been distracted by politics and elections, some others have been concentrating on governance. |
Karlovich:The idea 'may be' for the BH guys to see this report and then attempt to come out/relocate from their bunkers. The military is not stupid as many of us assume. |
For the love of God, why on earth do our security forces in Nigeria always use live bullets on protesters? Isn't it time we started using rubber bullets or even tasers in this country? God help us! |
OLADD:(1) Between October 2014 and May 2015, the Naira fell from N166/167 to N220 to $1, meanwhile oil still sold at about $65/barrel as at May 2015. http://abokifx.com/previous-rates-2/ (2) Between the same October 2014 and May 2015, the nation's foreign reserves dropped from ~$38.5bn to $28.7billion, that's a drop of about $10billion in 7 months, with oil still selling at about $65/barrel as at May 2015. http://www.cenbank.org/intops/Reserve.asp (3) Nigeria's GDP growth rate was maintained at an average of 6-7% but between October 2014 and May 2015 (2Q 2015), Nigeria's GDP growth rate dropped to its lowest since 1999 of 2.3%. http://www.tradingeconomics.com/nigeria/gdp-growth-annual (4) Due to a severe cash crunch occasioned by fall in oil prices, the Nigerian government had to borrow about $2.4billion dollars early in 2015 to offset salaries. This happened at a time when oil still sold above $65/barrel. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/05/nigeria-borrows-to-pay-salaries-with-cash-crunch-worsening/ Now the 4 pointers above which I have raised happened right under the watch of Ngozi Okonjo Iweala and she clearly warned Nigerians to brace up for worse economic situations because of the oil price. I do not know where you got your impression from that the nation wasn't hurt by oil price crash when NOI was still in charge. Obviously we all didn't notice the above because at that time, we were all engrossed in the election. I do not need to remind you that oil now sells for less than half of what it was when NOI handed over, I believe I do not also have to inform you that even with the further collapse in oil prices, the present government through a serious struggle has been able to maintain the Forex reserve at basically the same level it met it almost 9 months ago in order not to plunge Nigeria into a full blown economic crisis. May I also add that without having to borrow or dip its hands into the near empty forex reserves, the present government has been able to pay workers salaries, bail-out state governments and pay-off arrears of fuel subsidies owed since August 2014 (under NOI). Unfortunately, while doing these things, the value of the naira has suffered but the government has been able to maintain the scarce forex reserves it met so as to be able to meet essential needs (hence the common man on the street is yet to feel the effect of this recession). Finally if you have any understanding of economics, you will understand that this isn't an NOI vs kemi matter, there is absolutely no eceonomic voodoo Nigeria can do on the 'short term' to stop the economic crisis we are presently experiencing. Any wonderful economic ideas that can be implemented today, the positive effects can only be felt much much later. In all honesty I'm afraid the value of the naira may fall even beyond N500 to $1 except oil prices miraculously picks up. Now Mr OLADD, I am not an economist and I'm sure you are not as well, but just a little advice, next time you want to get involved in an argument of this kind on the economy, just try and make an 'informed' argument based on facts and figures. tolexy007:TThae Amaechi and NCAA ministry issue is even irrelevant. Can someone please explain what kind of connectivity will cost N9bn? |
Noneroone:What shame are you referring to?... Are the guys not resident in the UK? ![]() |
tonychristopher:While leaders of other zones are busy in Abuja scheming for development and economic activities to come to their zones, the million dollar question is, "what have Igbo leaders been doing all these decades in Abuja?" How can you overlook the failure of Igbo leaders and then put the blame on leaders of other zones who are simply hustling to better the lot of their people?? What have all the leaders of the SS and SE been doing for the past few decades that all the seaports in the eastern zone were allowed to collapse?? Now you expect the SW to sit back and close the Lagos seaports and handover all the business and customers to the SE or SS?? When would some people wake up and understand that just like in business, it has always been about competition?? The opponent/competitors will not win the coveted price and then just hand it over to you. What were the leaders of the SS and SE doing when all the foreign oil companies ran away and relocated to Lagos??... Not too long ago I remember Amaechi fighting for NLNG HQ to be moved to PH and that battle was won, the big question is, what have all other leaders of the SE and SS been doing?? Now you expect the SW to sit back and allow the business customers they have managed to scheme to Lagos to be handed back to the SE and SS on a platter of gold just like that?? Meanwhile the Amaechi who did this is referred to as a Judas because he did not support election of GEJ (who ironically did not do anything for the SS/SE) Youths from the SE and SS need to wake up from this long slumber and smell the coffee. We're in a rat race where the winners take all without mercy. In a football team, if your players are not good enough, you substitute them for better players, you don't sit back and blame the other teams for scoring goals. |

cokoduck:Whether you chose to agree or not, the fact remains that Obiano did not kill nobody. Secondly, it is not only the group of people who gathered for that your fellowship that voted for Obiano, stop patronising yourself. You ask what emotion means? Emotions could either be hate or love or sadness or anger, and it usually has one simple effect; it makes the person blind to realities. First of all, that you hate BUhari is not a reason why Obiano and everyone else should hate him. Secondly, that your leader tells you Buhari is a paedophile does not mean Buhari is a paedophile; it's on record that he married his wife when she was above 18, only individuals who have chosen to block their brains (due to emotions) still think otherwise, wake up from your blindness. Thirdly, Obiano may not be as great as Mbakwe, but amongst the pack of SE governors, he currently leads. |
Seems like we're back to the Abacha days when cash money was stored in GP Tanks. God help us! |
cokoduck:Actually this is not really about nnamdi kanu, he may have been focused about his campaign and his disregard for GEJ or PMB, but let's be honest with ourselves, majority of the followers which kanu was able to gather are purely Igbos who were VERY ANGRY over the outcome of the 2015 election. That's the reason I made the statement about the present struggle being more politically driven than economic. Regarding Obiano, it is not nice when people dwell on emotions; putting sentiments and emotions aside, do you in all honesty believe that Obiano ordered those navy men to go KILL ipob members?? Similarly just recently in Owerri a similar situation occured where protesting doctors were shot at, do you in all honesty believe that Rochas expressly ordered those policemen to go and KILL protesting doctors?? We should learn to stop allowing our emotions get the better part of us, or else we would believe anything we are told without consideration and we would most definitely be misguided into channelling our anger to the wrong enemy. Finally whether Biafra comes or not, every right thinking and rational Igbo man would still respect Obiano, the only ones who would't are those who have allowed emotions becloud their reasoning and who have allowed others to do the thinking for them. |
This isn't the time for blame games, this is rather a time for the budget to be withdrawn and surgically overhauled. |
Why does Saraki always look dejected any time he's close to PMB and Osinbajo? |
lastsec:Stop acting like a scorned 2nd wife, on the broad scheme of things, Yorubas have done nothing to Igbos. If there is any region the Igbos should have any bad feelings towards, it is the north (for clear and obvious reasons). For a lot of Igbos like yourself today to detest the SW more than the north, that is sadly just a clear sign of immaturity and confusion; and such emotional directionlessness will take us nowhere. |
49cents:There is nothing truer than the bolded statement. I think there is something fundamentally wrong with fighting the external war when the internal clean-up is yet to be done. I have always believed that irrespective of the obvious problems of our current federal system, if we had visionary, focused leaders in the SE, tremendous progress can still be achieved, after which we can then start any fight with the central government. I thank God for a person like Obiano who is proving the naysayers wrong, just imagine if all other SE governors were like Obiano?... Or just imagine we still had leaders like Sam Mbakwe alive in the SE? The progress made would have been monumental and the whole lamentations about underdevelopment and secession would have been hushed, even as the SE flourishes and shames other zones of the federation. Finally, it is at that point that a call for Biafra would be meaningful; the heightened call for secession today is just an emotional reaction to the politics of GEJ vs Buhari and it is devoid of any proper economic reasoning. |
BenBruce4Presdt:Sometimes I heap praises on this man for being able to stand out from the rest and reason progressively, but other times I'm just left at a loss for words at the way the man reasons like a basic unenlightened person. How can a man who claims to make common sense think that economic growth when oil sells above $100 would be the same as when oil sells at ~$30?? Probably he would tell us NOI was the reason why oil sold above $100 very soon. Meanwhile when the oil prices began to crash and was still even above $60, almost all economic indices tumbled right under the nose of almighty NOI, the GDP growth which he brags about fell to its lowest ever since 1999 of 2.3% in the 2nd quarter of 2015 and the FG even had to borrow to pay workers salaries at the time. Today even though oil prices have dipped to even less than half of what it was as at the 2nd quarter 2015, the government is not borrowing to pay salaries and the GDP growth rate has risen to over 3%. Yet Ben Bruce who brags about common sense thinks NOI is an omni-science demi god who should be consulted? ![]() |
This is a very simple bed design which can be produced by any of our steel craftsmen, we even produce much more complex things. However, this very bed whose picture was posted by the Op was not made in Nigeria. This thread was opened yesterday and then was suddenly closed by the MoDs (mynd44) when it was confirmed to be a fake picture. I wonder which superMoD exhumed and threw this to the FP today. |

Lemon12:Okay did elrufai receive the German president?... Some of you need to grow up abeg. |
Lemon12:The childishness of some of you wailers knows no bounds. Abeg wetin Osinbajo do you?? Is it his fault that he's the vice president and not the president? Tell me which VP since 1960 has been as active as this Prof? |
