IGBOPRINCE:I was only trying to make common sense. This is not an ethnic battle, na just brotherly advice. |
betterABIAstate:All I am trying to point out is this, "it is not much about what you say, but rather it is about how you say it," this is common sense but its sad that many do not understand this. Just in case you are still wondering why just about every other ethnic group in Nigeria do not really like Igbos, it is exactly because of the very attitude you just displayed in your opening post, nobody likes an arrogant person (and do not try to mistake pride for arrogance). If I wasnt an Igbo person and I read your post, I would feel very discouraged buying any indigenous product from an Igbo man. Hopefully you get my point this time. |
betterABIAstate:It takes only common sense for anyone to know that when you speak with such a tone, instead of being patronised, you will only force people to despise, boycott and frustrate your efforts. We need to learn how to speak and advertise ourselves without sounding arrogant. |
Balkan:Now I ask again, you say Rochas is useless because he supported Buhari and there are no proposed FG projects in Imo state in year 1 out of 4; meanwhile you chose to re-elect GEJ for a further 4 years, a GEJ who had already spent 5 years but did not do anything in Imo state. And you dare to call me efulefu? I have gladly accepted that efulefu tag a long time ago. I would rather answer an efulefu and pitch my tent with common sense instead of sticking with some confused clannish loyalty n'enweghi isi n'odu. |
MrGerald:"For the South-East, it showed that some important projects are concession of 2nd Niger Bridge in Anambra and Delta States, N17 billion;" The cost of the bridge project is N130bn; FG is to provide N30bn while the concessionaires provide the remaining N100bn. In 2014, the FG has already paid N10bn of its share. The bolded excerpts of the report above states that N17bn has also been set aside for this project in 2016; apparently, only N3bn will be left for the FG to pay maybe in 2017 in order to balance its N30bn share in the project. Reading through that report again, the sentence I quoted above clearly states that the 2nd Niger bridge project gets N17bn out of the portion allocated for the south-east. If N17bn is included as part of the SE's portion, then it is obvious that the N2.9bn must have been a typo of some sorts. So far no other website has reported this information, so I choose to assume the N2.9bn is definitely a typo; but such a typo has come in very bad fate, because it has further divided Nigeria. ![]() |
I can't wait for him to recover fully. His next movie or even youtube videos must be about taking bullets and still breathing #50Cents ![]() |
Balkan:Which project did GEJ do in Imo state in his 5 solid years reign? Now in your wisdom, you have the effrontery to judge the new administration in its first (out of 4 years) as being useless, but you did not think the last man who spent 5 years yet did nothing was useless. You even lent your support to extend the tenure of the man who did nothing for you in 5 years to rule for a further 4 years but you think Rochas is useless for withdrawing support from GEJ even after those circumstances? In terms of reasoning faculty and based on the above circumstances, who do you honestly think is the useless man between you and Rochas? Tufiakwa! the reasoning of some humans really stinks ![]() |
MrGerald:N17billion is the FG's contribution to the agreement, the concessionaires would bring the remaining 100 or so billion. |
This news will be too painful for the wailers. PDP why? Of all the humans, it is this rejected man they choose to make their leader? I sympathize with the wailers on this one, hoo haa! |

Teddeebear:Are you aware that life is all about competition? Every business man or trader wants all the customers to come into his shop. So while the Yorubas are scheming for imports to come in through their ports/shops, what have SE and SS leaders been doing for decades? What did even Jonathan do about this in his 5 years? Bro before you blame the other man for hustling hard to fend for himself and his children, ask youself what your own fathers/leaders have been doing to meet your needs when they get to Abuja. Meanwhile you want customers to branch into your store yet you eulogise pirates and some common criminals who smoke weed and operate infront of your shop; and then when the customers are scared away, you blame the owner of the other shops of using juju. Wake up man! It's all common sense. |
PhockPhockMan:I'm sure you are well educated so you shouldnt be having problems with simple comprehension, use your brain man. If the news says his passports were seized, how can a passport which he didn't bring be seized? If someone has the keys (passport) to a house but he chooses to enter the house through the window, this situation can be narrated in English language simply as "he came into the house without (using) his keys." Stop feigning illiteracy to drive home your point. |
I hope we can finally learn a lesson or two from this present mess. |
PhockPhockMan:He has 2 passports but didnt use anyone to come into the country (as none of the passports were stamped); that means he came in illegally. The offense isnt having 2 passports, the offense is jumping a fence or crawling through a tunnel into the country. ![]() |
wite111:The ipod writer of this article is an illiterate. Buhari did not say the crime of kanu was 'having 2 passports' |
AtlanticBreeze:This by-force attachment of SE to SS will only make the SS suspicious of the intentions of the SE. FYI, the resources you talk about are mainly from the SS. The SE states are presently as dependent as the rest of the country on resources from the SS. |
If only it could be possible. |
Geniro:The fight against boko haram is an ongoing fight, the govt isnt folding its arms and blaming BH of embarrassing it. The example I gave was about a government official (abba moro) being involved in a questionable scandal, and instead of the FG then to simply call for an investigation as an immediate reaction, GEJ in his paranoia typically took it personal and blamed those calling for 'investigation' as opposition elements trying to embarrass him. Another example is the Sanusi $49bn scandal, when the letter leaked, the simple reaction any typical leader would have just been to say "I will investigate." But instead we get reactions like, "it's a lie, they are just trying to embarrass me" Once again, these situations are not comparable. |
Geniro:Both situations arent comparable. |
PreyingMantis:Everybody makes mistakes, but what matters sometimes is how a person reacts to his/her mistakes. |
Emekamex:Probably a typo from the report; I thought I saw 29billion somewhere else but now I think I'm confused ![]() |
PreyingMantis:What Buhari just did is what is expected of any reasonable leader or boss. PMB did not write the budget himself, he appointed people to write and review the budget which he presented. When something goes awfully wrong like it just did, he takes the blame and the onus is on him to take disciplinary action on whoever he thinks is the weakest link that may have brought him such an embarrassment. Once again, that is what is expected of a leader. |
Thank God we now have a leader who will react appropriately when things go wrong. I can bet my life that if this whole budget saga had happened under the last administration, GEJ's first reaction (instead of calling for an investigation) would have been to blame 'opposition' for trying to rubbish/bring down his administration and after it all, nobody would have lost a job (immigration recruitment tragedy still fresh on my mind). |
So the whole beef was just promo for a new movie after all? ![]() |
tuniski:Can you kindly explain the dynamics? |
clemmonce:Let me tell you a short story of what happened when the oil prices began to crash, just between October 2014 and May 2015 when GEJ handed over: (1) The Naira fell from N166/167 to N220 to $1, meanwhile oil still sold at about $65/barrel as at May 2015. http://abokifx.com/previous-rates-2/ (2) The nation's foreign reserves dropped from ~$38.5bn to $28.7billion, that's a drop of about $10billion in 7 months, with oil still selling at about $65/barrel as at May 2015. http://www.cenbank.org/intops/Reserve.asp (3) Nigeria's GDP growth rate which was maintained at an average of 6-7% suddenly dropped to its lowest since 1999 of 2.3%. http://www.tradingeconomics.com/nigeria/gdp-growth-annual (4) Due to a severe cash crunch occasioned by fall in oil prices, the Nigerian government had to borrow about $2.4billion dollars early in 2015 to pay salaries. The FG could not also pay accumulated arrears of fuel subsidy since August 2014 to petroleum importers (this led to the fuel scarcity in May 2015 just before the handover and Lai Mohammed also blamed this owed fuel subsidy as the reason behind the fuel scarcity late last year) http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/05/nigeria-borrows-to-pay-salaries-with-cash-crunch-worsening/ http://www.channelstv.com/2015/12/21/lai-mohammed-blames-fuel-crisis-on-past-administration/ Note that all of the above happened at a time when oil still sold above $65/barrel; today oil sells for about $30/barrel Now I do not want to imagine the kind of economic humanitarian crisis that would have enveloped Nigeria had GEJ continued in his usual manner of dipping his hands into the forex reserves; only God saved us as a nation else we would have been standing on long queues by now to receive one cup of rice daily from W.H.O or UN outlets. tuniski:Did I just hear you say continuity of those four (4) negative events I just pointed out above? Are you aware that the FG under Buhari has not borrowed to pay salaries? It even bailed out the states Are you aware the FG has paid off subsidy arrears owed to oil importers even since the days of GEJ? Are you aware the FG/CBN has been able to maintain virtually the same forex reserve amount that it inherited till date?... Unlike GEJ that crashed it by $10billion in 7 months of oil price crash? And now all these have been done when oil sells for less than half of what it was when GEJ was handing over and you think the present government is more useless?? I challenge you to tell me that these figures and indices I have written here are wrong, kindly explain to us your 'empirical' evidence. |
Mjshexy:The next directive would be to abokii dollar vendors "if you receive any dollars smelling of shit, report ASAP to EFCC and DSS" ![]() |

BishopMagic:No my friend, I can beat my chest anywhere in the world or beyond and tell you that a larger number of Nigerians preferred Buhari to GEJ as at the time of the 2015 elections and it not only reflected in hundreds of mock online polls and random TV interviews on the streets, it also replicated itself in the main elections. I wonder what you mean by 'fraud' or 'votes not counting' in that. Whether you choose to agree or not, the fact remains that in the 2015 elections, Nigerians were saddled with 2 not-too-inspiring candidates; an ineffectual leader and an old retired grandpa and more Nigerians at the time preferred the old grandpa to the ineffectual one. Forget whatever conspiracy theories you choose to believe in your head to justify the election loss of your preferred candidate. I have no idea what you mean by Washington Mafia; probably the Washington mafia came down to Nigeria to vote, or maybe the Washington mafia influenced the hundreds of mock online polls on social media including here on nairaland? |
Dudeweedlmao:How I wish some people like yourself can receive a vision of what can happen to a country like Nigeria if it runs out of forex, how I wish you can understand the kind of terrible humanitarian crisis the nation would be plunged into if we run out of forex reserves, then you wouldn't sit behind your desk and think the CBN are the villains in this forex hoarding game. https://www.naij.com/434668-external-reserves-cant-pay-for-imports.html If you read this simple article above, it would give you a little insight as to why the CBN as a matter of national emergency, has to hoard forex as much as it can. The CBN presently has less than $28billion as its liquid forex reserves, a value which cannot satisfy up to a 6 months import requirement. Can you imagine what would happen to a nation if it runs out of forex to the point of not being able to import essential commodities like food, petroleum products etc.? |
BishopMagic:And I suppose by your beautiful logic, a vote for Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan is the vote which wouldn't have been a waste right?... Clap for yourself! |
