It seems Ife is copying Benin a lot these days.
When the ooni of Ife recieves visitors, he gives out bronze reassembling Benin bronze, he now wears an outfit worn by Edo nobles, he also flaunted the Ada and Eben swords in his recent ceremonies. What the heck is going on ? Why doesn't he give credits where they are due ? Some Yoruba are already claiming it is Benin which is copying Ife. This is how the Yoruba also copied the title "Oba" from Benin and later started to claim it was Benin which copied it from them. I have nothing against those copying Benin culture so long they give credits where they are due.
is other way round mr man..

Once again, you are talking as if you are an eyewitness to the precolonial era. This is a sign of dentia. If by fast transportation you mean cars, then I would let you know that very few empires had them back then. If you mean horses then I would kindly refer you to all the depictions of the Oba on horseback among Benin artefacts.
lol.. your oba will have a horse or two being oba of equestrian origin "ile-ife" and horse was introduced to benin from ife. but never have military Calvary,, your warrior fight butt naked

once again unsubstantiated claims, but this time, you added a fictional character to it, Oranmiyan. Oranmiyan never existed kid, he was made up like father Christmasd, Hercules, oduduwa, Spiderman and so on. Benin Royal regalia has nothing to do with Ife.
And no Oba of Benin was ever buried in stincky Ife.
i can see you are brain dead ..

Yet to be proven, and if the igala made a mask to pay hommage to the Benin emperor which their leader wears around his neck then what is your point ? This goes against your stupid claims. If the guy had a mask of a guy wearing a d.i.ck on his forehead, you would say he worships ooni of Ife.
even with the help of the Portuguese musketeers your kingdom was brutally annihilated by the igalas read history

keep dreaming and puting words in other people's mouths. Your ooni wears a d.i.ck on his head and was nothing untill the Brits showed up and propped him up as their useful idiotic puppet. There are photos available of the shrine in which the Oba of Benin. Worshiped in precolonial days and the statues are all dressed in Benin Oba regalia, statues of his ancestors, those artifacts are in all Western museums now. Just stop saying nonsense.
believe in your stupidity .. keep fooling yourself baba na baba.. Benin regalia is ife regalia beads dressing it was brought to Benin by oranmiyan all the heads of your past obas were buried in ife

Indeed Warri was a province of Benin empire, a part of Benin Kingdom and Itsikeri are full fledged Edo. When the Portuguese came, they took the Portuguese to the emperor, the King above all Kings, Omo n'Oba n'Edo.

You are dreaming, when the Oba of Benin went to visit Esanland and Akoko Edo, their kings recognized him as their father, it is on video. The same thing happened in Warri, the same thing happened with Lagos. Also you have the precolonial maps of the region which show Lagos to be part of Benin empire.
So stop dreaming.

You are definitely on Hard drug Mr Ovie Edo and is not good for you ...Benin Empire ?? Laughing in Portuguese..Do you know what empire means. how many kingdom do you have under your empire... Even Igala kingdom that was way superior to Benin militarily has never been refers to as an Empire you people had no means of fast transportation then, Oba Benin was revere because of Oduduwa Lineage... Lagos has never been part of Benin kingdom and it will never be, if you like hit your head on Lagos bridge or jump into Lagos lagoon Mr man...Lagos is not Lagos Island ..Eko is a small portion of Lagos island..Benin influence is through the Portuguese explorer.. Aworis had been trading with lagosian before Benin Royal stepped foot on Eko soil Lagos Island..Portuguese get to know about Benin kingdom from the Itshekiri....

I don't want to go into details here but the records backed by facts should be taken serious and not those who fail to present their arguments with only claims with no proof of facts and you could see the bitterness in the lines because of their tribal sentiments. I will find time later to contribute to this topic.

yes , yorubas never owned it

Benin flown to lagos abi bloody fool?..stop deceiving yourself.. ijebu never claim ownership of Lagos even though they contributed almost 50% of Lagos land mass Eko belongs to the Aworis from ile- Ife ...presence of Benin in Lagos is through the Portuguese explorer and trader that brought a Benin prince to Lagos aboard their merchant ship to Lagos and is only a small portion known as Eko Lagos island

Izoduwa was nothing to benin....

Neither was it the sole progeniture of the yoruba race he only happened to have been banished by the benins and found is way to ife and yorubas made him the greatest king ever....

Oba ewuare and ewakpe is the only king who had made benin great izoduwa was nothing here get your fact right....

Benins did enough to civilized yorubas ...

Our chiefs were there to guide the onni through and the ooni sculpture was buried in benin

Benin civilize yoruba you would have said edo civilize yoruba,, Benin remain part of ife Yoruba like it or not

Lol.....funny man
You are using both toaf ans olu137 account nice

First of all ile ife nevered used horse the only people who used horse were oyo as a resukt of migration of the fulani into oyo at late 18c and it was much more later after the death of oduduwa and this horses didnt last....because of thier region so it was quickly forgone

The horse with a man that was mistaken by western historian as benin art
Was actually a benin republic art work not a benin artwork
So young mam no yoruba came on horse to benin

Also because the word “ora" its a yoruba word meaning it was introduce by yorubas to benin or because obama has the word oba meaning nigeria colonized kenya

I dare you prove your point not with only links pictures artefact anything to make it correct

laughing .can't discredit yoruba for being equestrian people the first horse was brought by ife to benin go and do your research ... migration of fulani into oyo at 18century... lol... you are a fool.... oyo katunga was coin out of ibi it le gbeti yo Oyo.. the spot oranmiyan fell from his horse back is where the city is built and named OYO after the even that took place according to ifa
