TV/MoviesRe: My Experience Of "Half Of A Yellow Sun" At The Cinema by obioraval(m): 3:25pm On Aug 04, 2014
AriDsexy: I read purple hibiscus and half of a yellow sun but can't remember the story of purple hibiscus again.Pls can u give me a short summary, thanks.
PURPLE HIBISCUS: Fifteen-year-old Kambili's world is
circumscribed by the high walls and
frangipani trees of her family
compound. Her wealthy Catholic
father, under whose shadow Kambili
lives, while generous and politically
active in the community, is repressive
and fanatically religious at home.
When Nigeria begins to fall apart
under a military coup, Kambili's father
sends her and her brother away to stay
with their aunt, a University professor,
whose house is noisy and full of laughter. There,
Kambili and her brother discover a life and love
beyond the confines of their father's authority.
The visit will lift the silence from their world and,
in time, give rise to devotion and defiance that
reveal themselves in profound and unexpected
ways. This is a book about the promise of
freedom; about the blurred lines between
childhood and adulthood; between love and
hatred, between the old gods and the new.... Hope it refreshed your memory

Vivly: You have to read the book first before jumping to the cinema so you'll watch with a mind free of war scenes expectations.
It's a love story that was set in the civil war era and not how soldier Okoro shot Soldier Musa.
tell them my dear. I saw the movie yesterday. More than half of those in the cinema with me had not even read the book... How then would they know it was a Love Story. every story has a Theme in Literature... The movie was a 9/10 for me(I can't give 10/10). I enjoyed Ojukwu's superb English during his speeches. And oh my... His beards... Lol... BIAFRA lives on in our Hearts...

kebbi is peaceful.. If u can wait to be remobilized, good for you. But u might be frustrated sha, cos u myt have to wait till March... My advice, accept your call up letter, get a medical letter claiming u are sick. Get to camp, enjoy camp, apply for relocation on health grounds, make sure u press the ryt buttons for relocation in camp... Its what I did...

Jobs/VacanciesRe: PHCN Employed No Engineer For 16 Years – FG by obioraval(m): 3:32pm On Jul 30, 2014
adanny01: I am a consultant to PHCN (TCN) and NIPP (NDPHC). I have personally supervised 4 PHCN projects and currently supervising an NIPP project. News engineering is one of the worst indigenous contractors, in fact most of ours are the worst.

My company is one of the power project consultants and managers employed by PHCN since 2004 so i have meetings in PHCN HQ and NIPP offices and with most of their engineering (office/management) staff at the levels of General managers, Assistant general Managers and principal managers. Every project has a PHCN (TCN) project manager and assistant, PC (project consultant like my company) and EPC contractor (Engineering procurement construction contractor like News engineering)

Most of those departments you called are distribution related which where not in the HQ and have since become responsibilities of DISCO's.

Why do you think TCN embarked massively on recruiting over 500 engineers last year. PHCN installations were not maned or maintained by engineers or at best too few while top management where either non engineers or are figure head engineers without powers to effect the systems.

If you doubt me, that below is in front of my house right now.
can I volunteer with you and your company... Experience sake. Young graduate engineer

Thanks to you both. God bless you both. I will give it some serious thought. I'm a Graduate assistant in a uni down east, so that's why I'm bothered... Thanks all the same. Beebee5000 congrats on your visa.
beebee5000: Bros getting a PhD is very difficult, or should i say its easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than getting a supervisor for your PhD.
The easiest route is either doing another Msc or bachelors, then you can search for PhD Funding and supervisors.
Talking from a friends experience, he had the same issue. He searched for a supervisor but couldn't find any who was willing to listen to his research proposal. Instead he applied for another Msc. got admitted and currently ' from our last discussion he has about two interview to attend, were he is to share his research work with some professors from another uni'. But you can still give it a shot if you want to, no harm in trying.
I don't know if anyone has gotten a PhD admission here before, but there is always a first time to everything.
WildChild00: Use daad.de, there is a scholarship funding for both masters and phd students or better still use these joint scholarship program, I will try and remember d name. All the best. "Erasmus Mundus Scholarship Program"

Profmaojo: Which correct money...am nt talking abt illegal#blocking and tipping
ok.. 105k as a GA coupled with the free time you have to pursue your Msc degree full time... Its not always about the money. The money in academics doesn't come quickly. Well, I read your post somewhere about how you need a course that will give you fast money. People like you are the ones who will collect illegal blocking and tipping money....... I know of a Phd Candidate in FUTO who makes money from royalty paid for his published work in Germany...

CareerRe: Best Paid Degrees In Nigeria (THE BITTER TRUTH) by obioraval(m): 5:00pm On Jul 20, 2014
NeuroBoss: If it is about the money involved then compare this:
Chukwudi started spare part importation business in 2002 with a #50 000 seed money from his uncle. Today, he imports 40 containers monthly which are even sold out on the high sea. He makes at least 1 million naira profit on each container sold. He lives in a Lekki semi-detached duplex and have a range of exotic cars. Which Engineer or Doctor could beat that?
tell them oh... Its not by working for shell or chevron that u are made. Entrepreneurship is the key. I know of an engineer that got a contract from the nigerian army to design an equipment for them. I no wan mention the amount involved. oil company engineers are redundant Office engineers... Talking from experience... The contractors and consultants are the main ones chopping dat money Lol...#no beefing here oh.... For the guy who is aspiring to be a lecturer, kudos to you... I'm impressed...
