With the sad cases of folks who go to bring wives from village that turn something else, i begin to think, what About the Nigerian ladies in UK? at least those ones still have an element of home and will be better understanding and help with the kids. abi the men don show dem shege?

Lol, we just had this discussion recently on Facebook. Why do Nigerian men go back to marry wives and bring them here. Me thinks we just love to show oppression; a kind of my Mercedes Benz is bigger than yours or I made you mentality.

On the other side of the coin, the women don't want to date students (I feel this would help close the gap), however I believe four months is so small a time to conclude a meaningful relationship; thus; most ladies think 'oh, he wants to use me to get papers' and it becomes a problem. hopefully, the post study route would solve this.

Now, when that student graduates and finds his/her way to be legal here, the guy would go back to Nigeria for the oppression cycle to continue, while the lady, well, she sees students whom she meets on bumble and the rest as (you can guess).#

Thus the cycle continues except we Nigerians begin to behave like our Ghanaian brothers and sisters and not see everything as all about papers.

My submission.

These guys are still joking. Fossil fuel cannot account for 80 percent of the global energy mix by 2050.

OP, this phase too shall pass. Don't be deterred because of those mails, nahh
Let me share my experience with you. I was among the GTs for NLNG in 2013. We did Waec test, another test which I forgot the body that conducted the test, then SHL test, passed all, only to be screened out before AC. I felt very bad when I got the regret mail,
Today, I am managing somewhere of which I can feed my family and pay my bills.
To my surprise, those who were invited for AC were never employed till date, the thread is here on NL. So trust God on this, don't you ever accept defeat, there are thousands in this who began like you, the story always change for the better, remember, no condition is permanent.
You will look back later and smile over this ish

NLNG train 7 project. 6 years on. I was also a part of this.

How time flies.

jamela:
Hi everyone,

I am currently on my Doctorate Extension Scheme visa after completion of my PhD. The following is a summary of my situation.

Summary:
Point 1: I'm currently enroute a comfortable 6 years in UK continuous residence and hope to make the 10 year ILR.
Point 2: I have spent 5 of this 6 continuous years studying without breaks. the 6th current year is on a Doctoral extension scheme (1 year visa) expiring next year.
Point 3: I now need to earn 4 years more to qualify for the 10 year ILR.

However,
Point 4: The UK has an 8 year maximum study cap. As I have also held a previous (since expired) tier 4 visa on a masters course for 17 months (i.e the standard 1 year 5 months visa), it doesn't count towards continuous residence now. This is because I went back to Nigeria after I completed it and spent more than 180 days there before returning to the UK to study again. Even so, this study period is still counted by the UK Home Office as 1 year 5 months used towards the 8 year study cap.

Therefore,
Point 5: My total study period in the UK so far adds up to 6 years 5 months, which leaves me with 19 months (1year 7 months) left to use on the 8 year study cap. (But remember point 3 above)

At Present:
I learnt about the return of the Post study work scheme, though it isn't yet in effect, I heard it would only be valid for those graduating from 2021 onwards.

My Intention:
I plan to leave the UK after my DES expires next year for 6 months and return in less than 180 days to start the MBA. (This gives me 6 months of continuous residency even though I wouldn't be present in the UK for that time as long as I return within 180 days).

After the MBA programme:
6months (outside UK) + 18 months (MBA) = 2 years
Post study work visa = 2 years
This adds up to the 4 years that I need to qualify for ILR.

Questions:
Will the new PostStudyWork visas start automatically after 2021 Masters completion, or these would have to be applied for?
Is it possible for me to apply for an 18 month MBA course, even though I now have a PhD?
Does anyone know any UK universities that offer 18 month MBA programmes that begin in March/April 2021?

Would there be any issues with my current situation and intentions above?
Other suggestions are welcome.

I think you should consider a Post doc after your DES.

So u rather prefer I post my phone number.

A cv doesn't necessarily translate to what you expect. I could have used "resume", however , it is assumed my intended audience might not readily understand.

We all know this isn't a graduate position. So let it slide and do not be shocked.

Thank you

I actually don't see anything wrong in this. If as a lecturer I can handle multiple courses in multiple universities ....why not? If for example, I have multiple degrees in different fields (Computer Engineering and Mathematics) and I lecture Computer Science at one university and the other University requires a lecturer in Mathematics ...if they appoint me, I would gladly take it so far as it does not clash with my lecture schedules in the first university.

And what about research and development?

We think Academic job is only for lecturing.

Interesting..

Well done

Such a baseless comment. Just because lecturers in Nigerian Universities make you go through hell before they teach you outdated stuff and still try to sleep with the ladies for grades doesn't mean every educational system in the world is like that. First class is usually like the top 1-5 percent of the graduating class. That means that in her graduating class she was one of the top students. From my masters in the U.S I have 3 publications in international journals. And just from 2 years masters because I have access to everything I need. Go and ask your friends masters and PhD friends in Nigeria that graduated with first class and 2.1 if there is not a steep learning curve coming from Nigeria to study science based research oriented courses in the west. Our curriculum in Nigerian universities simply doesn't prepare us well enough for the 21st century. Many PhD students in Nigeria are still struggling to have one relevant publication because when they are doing their research NEPA will take light. That is a fault of your leaders and not the UK govt.
