On a general scale, Warri can't boast of good electricity very few places on the 33kv line which some part of ugbolokpso and alegbo are on.


Is okuokoko a good/safe place, yes I consider it safe, can you go out at night it depends on where you are staying but you will even find it difficult to get transport at night self.

Concerning the house, check well if the area has a good drainage system ( them no get, but try to understand how water flows) then make sure you are staying in places that might not be affected regulations nor too dey if you dey build house

The taxation is not too realistic in Nigeria.
Just like when Lagos State government was trying to regulate the cost of renting apartment. They couldn't succeed because "they no contribute build the house" meanwhile behind the scenes they have collected their taxes for the documentation of the property.

This location are not too far from any location you might be considering.

I got into IT out of passion and not really for the money unlike a lot of people. Just fortunate enough such passion pays my bills.

Now does that mean I shouldn't or don't have other hobbies ? I have built lots of electrical things while in Primary and Secondary school. Used to be a regular visitor to where they repair Tv, Radios, etc; same way lots of kids my age then were into playing all manner of games.

Despite being young, could handle Multi-meter, Soldering iron, etc and could read diode, capacitors, and lots of other things including knowing their functions and uses. I dey even scatter transformer, come use am build speaker, and the likes. No be say I go learn work Ooo, just say I was passionate about them.

Even before I started using Solar, built a large battery bank that could power my laptop for close to 3 days, and still found a way to deceive Windows Operating system into not shutting down because it's internal meter didn't recognize the modded battery I gave it.
When I finally started using Solar, were you expecting such expertise not to come in ?

Naturally, I'm the curious type; same me sabi balance double column cash book, handle Trial balance and Balance sheets despite being a Science student. I fit follow you speak for over 30-minutes and You go think say I be accounting student - of course e get where e go reach, truth go come out. Make we no enter medical profession also. See eh, some of us have scattered knowledge, it kinda helps but that doesn't mean we're into 100% or even 60% into it.

There are lots of things that if you who's into it fully ain't good enough, and you hear me speak, you would thing I am your senior in such field.

Now about the other things I listed I do also, I love keeping pets and growing plants right from a young age; I remember growing lots of corn and beans in small butter or Tin milk containers. of course they always die after growing to a few inches but it was fun; same with animals hence now, I got my space, I plant a couple of things, what I don't know, I either ask questions, research deeply about them (and most times end up knowing more) and that's it.

Abi I should say since I am into IT, I should disregard all my other passions. Some of us got multiple talents, you just got to focus on the strong ones. If to say we dey better country, come get opportunity, I doubt I would do anything computer related sef because I love working and building electronics related fields.

So abeg save your blanket statement for when it would be relevant. For my kinda person, e no relevant at all. Mind you, I speak more than PHP. I don add GO, RUST (basic), C#, etc. No go think say I be your regular WordPress and script installer dude wey dey add fancy names such as devOp as title.

I know frontEnd, backEnd, Server setUp and administration, can write performant SQL and look out for where to apply optimizations, etc not because I learnt them all at same time BUT because those were the ladders I climbed.

I started as web designer using templates, and Microsoft frontPage, later upgraded to using dreamWeaver but because I kept wanting more control, I ditched them all and started raw coding using notePad++, then I met wordPress, used it for a while, then back to raw PHP while I got better at it. Latter added more languages.
Even when it comes to frontEnd, despite being a developer, I know raw HTML and CSS (not frameWorks Ooo). As for backEnd, there are lots of PHP or Python developers who don't know the raw language; all they know is the frameWork - Me no follow for their Ooo.

How did I go into Server administration ? Had issue with lots of hosting companies and their limitations, I started doing hosting initially at home, then Colocation, and today, got a number of servers we manage both Colocation , bareMetals, and Home-servers which hosts some low to medium traffic apps.

How about Mobile apps, how about AI, how about machine learning ? Never attempted any of those because I know I can't be everywhere.

Nigerian kids could be experts in solar installation before they are done with ss3.

Hope every school adopts this.

24v na mostly for those wey no fit afford 4-batteries (if lead acid) or 48v (if lithium) or say true true your load small.

Generally from experience, 24v serves the average Nigerian home.

It allows ease of maintenance (it's easier to buy 2 batteries than 4) this conception is coming from the aspects of cost.

If you enter problem, you go under the advantage better

You rely more on an external charger.
It's also subject to battery capacity too.

You can use it.

What you need to check majorly are:

1. Charging voltage float and buck (depending on which mode you choose gel,tub,SLA each has different voltage at the above mentioned parameters. So find out which option will keep you within the safe limit of 27.5-28.8v)

2. The charging current (averagely, it's usually 20A confirm if you have a toggle switch to select the charge current (select the lowest if possible)

3. Low battery cutoff voltage (most Indian inverter has LVD at 21vdc, so you will need a way to control the discharge)



If you can control this 3 parameters, you can use any Indian inverter with lithium batteries.

Not only Chinese inverters are lithium compatible (the only likely advantage you may get is that Chinese inverters will be able to push in more charging current)

Normally, all these large boxes of Lithium batteries wey there adverts dey flood here, someone ought to have shared how to get reputable sources abroad, ship to Nigeria, how to use wood or PVC pipes to make the battery holders, this and that and have your own low cost quality (or at least average) Lithium battery.

Even Me sef don try do ma own Charge controller though gave up along the way. To make PWM easy, to make MPPT na another thing BUT imagine if there were others with same or similar goals

U can build a full mppt, if you don't want to program it

Let me remind us something just in case:

Hybrid inverters got it's advantages and disAdvantages; same with non-hybrid inverters. It's when you know [some of] them, you make an educated decision.

My major issue with hybrid inverters irrespective of the brand is, they are more fragile. No matter how bad a non-hybrid inverter goes, chances of successful repairs remains very high + they are more rugged. Same ain't easily true with Hybrids.

Yea most people believe they saving on charge controller costs BUT a percentage of that already makes up that inverter. That a vendor / dealer advertises a product as free delivery doesn't mean you still not paying for it - they just found a way to not make it obvious.

Then there's issue of damage - should a hybrid inverter go bad, the embedded charge controller goes along with it and if at end of the day Repairs were unSuccessful, that's the end. You don't just loose the inverter alone BUT also the chargeController.

How about upgrades ? That's impossible without changing the entire inverter, or buying an external charge controller. And yea, there are a plethora of reasons you might decide upgrading.

Do I have to remind you that you have no say on the quality and spec of what's baked inside in - it's more of complementary.

Back when the Naira wasn't as low as it currently is against the dollar, I often suggests sachet inverters to people on tight budget mostly because they were CHEAP and more efficient than transformer based inverters. Should it go bad, just get another because as at then (even now), repairs were/are [almost] nonExistent. but ever since they now cost a lot, I no longer recommend them because I can't imagine someone spending over 100,000 naira on something that should it ever go bad, you have no choice than to toss it away like you would a headSet.

I happen to know some of these things mostly because I used to be a technician (actually a DIY hobbyist) though now focus on IT full time. That doesn't mean I still don't build or tamper with things every now and then.
You could even ask any inverter repairer and if they're honest enough, would tell you same thing or more.

Hybrids are more efficient but very fragile and even that efficiency is almost equal to the non-Hybrid (transformer based) ones nowadays. The gap used to be wide back in the day .

before One goes about investing heavily on something not rugged, don't forget most Nigerian technicians are only good at changing circuit boards (panel). To repair na wahala for dem.

Understanding something you didn't design is a lot of work(we are not that privileged to repair most of this equipment with the schematics)

So this high frequency vs low frequency inverter which is better depends on lots of factors.

Now on this forum at some point, it was idle power consumption was invoke(low frequency will win this argument) but in practical sense, why low frequency inverter are very rugged is because there's a dielectric barrier the transformer provides for the input and output circuit compared to the high frequency which is almost direct

I want to take this opportunity to appreciate this group in my inverter journey. I love my set up so far. The 10kwh battery is monstrous for my daily usage so much so that I barely consume 10 percent every night with fridge and fan on and the Firman inverter is a champ although I'm still disappointed that it can't communicate via BMS still but I set the parameters as bulk 54.4v and float as 54.0v keeping my battery at 96 percent full charge not 100 though the recommendation is 55.2 bulk and 54.4 float. If anyone is able to communicate Firman with lvtopsun I'd like to hear it as it's important to me. God bless you all for your amazing work

Select pyl on your inverter and connect to can port of the battery. It ought to work

What i was trying to point out is that for you to build your 340 cells pack or equivalent, you do not compulsorily need 340 cells. lol. Instead you can use 6 cells of 46AH capacity in 3S2P configuration to achieve similar kwhr or whr accordingly. You just need bigger cells and that's what i pointed out to Tetralogyfallout. There is also 4680 of around 22-26AH pioneered by Tesla.

Where you wan dey find this cells?

Good afternoon boss, thank you for your swift response yesterday. Let me give you a little back story. Those three used batteries were given to me and that gesture stimulated my interest in installing an inverter. Appliances to power are plasma TV, dstv decoder, 3 ceiling fans, deep freezer and five 5 watts bulbs(although all these appliances will not be used at the same time). The plasma and the freezer(140w) are the reason why I'm considering a 4kva 48v inverter. But with your comment about adding a new battery(for series connection) which will negatively impact its performance because the other batteries are used, should I downgrade the inverter to 2.5kva 24v so that the 3 used batteries can be run in parallel and series connections to make 24v? Would this setup still power the above appliances? Which inverter model would you suggest? Note that the system will be charged with the grid and sometimes, generator(3.5kva)-no panels.

Get a 12v sachet inverter and a separate charger, it is easier to manage and has low entry cost.

Just incase their might be need to upgrade, it's easier to sell off the inverter (You can work on a swap deal if you buy from people on this thread), battery(obviously can be sold as scrap) and even charger(charger might be what may take a longer time anyway).

If you decide to use a 24v setup, you will be forced to use just 2 units of those batteries or you but an extra one and add to the one not in use

Hi chief, please I need your advice. Can a 4kva 48v inverter work with three 220ah 12v tubular batteries? If four batteries are compulsory for the setup as suggested by a friend, can I just buy a new 220ah 12v tubular battery and add it to the three batteries? Note that the three other batteries are fairly used for two years but still has a decent power backup. I hope combining old and new batteries will not speedily wear out the new one.

The old ones will pull down the new one to its owns internal resistance (the capacity of the previously acquired 3 might have reduced)

Since the inverter is 48v(it will require 4 batteries in series) where as, the 3 batteries in series will only give you 36v.

If the inverter even manage to work, it will not output the complete AC voltage.
