Romance › Re: Should I Take Her Back? by obyrich(m): 6:54pm On Mar 19, 2013
Did she feel distraught when you were in detention? Did she value you above her job? Assuming you were still in detention today would she be waiting for you or move on with her life? Recently, a woman was reported to have hired assassins who eliminated her husband on suspicion that the man wanted to marry another wife. My humble submission is that the lady in question is a fair-weather partner and not worthy to sign the " for better, for worse" contract with. She cant compromise her job for you (who knows what she sacrificed to get the job). The truth is you can never trust her again if you eventually marry her.

dayokanu: Yoruba is a tonal language and it depends on the tone it comes out

Ogun means drug, Ogun means war, Ogun means Inheritance, ogun means 20, Ogun is also a river, Ogun is also a god of iron
Exactly why I couldnt learn yoruba during my NYSC days in Osun! I think a yoruba wife will help me out in that regard.
Family › Re: Are Today's Elders Worthy Of Emulation? by obyrich(m): 3:30pm On Mar 19, 2013
The modern day trend is not for youths to emulate elders, rather elders are encouraged to emulate the youths in all spheres of human life including morality. There is no legacy the elders of contemporary Nigerian society have to bequeath their youth. Nothing good to emulate. Try to be your best and forget those old wasted folks. I think we shall get an 'emulatable' generation of elders after this generation is passed. However you can listen to the advice of some of them, but be careful with how you copy their lifestyles.Nobody wants to be an elder in the true sense of the word.
Celebrities › Re: Fans Ridicule Mercy Johnson Over Nigeria Passport For Daughter by obyrich(m): 1:09pm On Mar 19, 2013
Hypocrisy! After eating a sumptuous meal at your neighbors house in preference to your mum's, you belch and shout that you are proud of your mum!Everybody knows Nigeria is a great country with a lot of potentials. Saying so wont make one a hero because it amounts to saying the obvious. The real hero is one who will dare the odds to develop the potentials inherent in this "potentially" great country. To me Mercy Johnson Okojie's statement was an irony. She actually meant to say " I LOVE AMERICA" but after considering the negative impact on her career and the backlash she would get from her fans, she substituted Nigeria for America. Truth is you cant spend 4 months in the US and not hate Nigeria!
Health › Re: Big Belle /stomach Is Not A Sign Of Good Life by obyrich(m): 11:54am On Mar 19, 2013
kinethic: I decided to open up this thread because of what I noticed when visited home from abroad last year.
Relaxing with my cousins and friends in restaurant and joints.I realized that most of them have protruding stomach like pregnant women.
They said to me you are thin and muscular no meat .
I said I am on diet and try to control my cholesterol .Besides I don't drink alcohol and don't smoke..
That there is chances that I will stay stronger ,longer and active.Coupled with my daily exercise like stretching every morning ,light running, playing basketball .
I also walk to the office or by bus rather than driving.
I told them I walk a lot hardly drive and it keeps me away from hospital from the last 12 years abroad .
Only had a discovery of artery problem before I cultivated the idea of staying healthy.
According to the doctor ,I can reduce or rid the blockage by change of lifestyle and do more exercises. I love cars but right now my wife drives me to most of places we go.
But in all these for the next two weeks I noticed they have consumed tonnes of alcohol ,
Meat and less vegetables. And don't forget smoking.
I was telling them you guys are hurting your selves by this way.
You know big boys attitude who consumes a lot of beer and smokes.
I love my cousins I gave them advise to go do check up and see what's in their bodies.
After 2 months I left Nigeria one of them called me and told me terrible news of heart attack and diabetics ..
I wasn't surprised ..So it's like he will heed my advice to change his lifestyle .
So the message I am passing is that we should try to be conscious of our health.take care of it,exercise more ,drive less, check up annually and In fact change our d habits. These are some of the reasons young guys drop dead any how.
Because we haven't developed this culture of being alert to our health conditions.
God bless everyone,
On point!I hate big stomach.

jude33084: Do you mean certificate? undecided

Because your degree is in you ♏ãn.
Besides alot of successful business and hitech guys in Naija had 3rd class.

Maybe it is coconut SHELL you mean. SHELL BP does not invite 3rd class graduates for aptitude tests unless in your dream world. The truth is that certificate does not determine how far a man may go in life. That does not mean that mediocrity should be celebrated. Young people should be encouraged to work hard and get the best results in school- it doesn't hurt. Talent and skill are prized more than any class of degree.

In Shell aptitude text 3rd class did better than the so called 2nd class upper cheesy

One 2nd class upper from Delsu that graduated from masscom couldn't spell "broadcasting" cheesy cheesy grin

Reminds me of George Orwell's "Animal's Farm"! I pity those young minds that are being ruined by greed. NUC officials put the student's interests above that of the management. If your observation is that the school lacks the capacity to handle engineering courses, please close down the faculty.
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Is It Proper To Reduce Your Age To Get a Job? by obyrich(m): 9:49pm On Feb 22, 2013
Pergrace: No it is not proper

No matter your age, what will be will be.
I remember at age 30, I went to the UK to study for my Masters program based on the following:
1. I couldnt apply for graduate positions here in Nigeria because of my age.Mind you I don apply tire for Naija sotey I pass age 27.. grin grin..
2. I needed to upgrade my status in other to make a head way in the job market
3. Probably come back to Nigeria and excel in my career as a post graduate experienced personnel.

In the UK,I found out that age was never a barrier cos I got a couple of interviews for graduate positions.
However,I was NOT able to hit a dream job in the likes of Exxonmobil, Shell,Chevron, Schlumberger etc.Getting fustrated,I decided to return to Nigeria, within 6 months I got a job.Right now I am doing well in an Oil and Gas company.I did not enter as a graduate but got a job as a manager.

So my advice is please,do not reduce your age
How many people will have the privilege of travelling abroad to upgrade after being frustrated in Nigeria? Yours is a special case cos u have a better alternative. What will you tell someone who has no one else to help them financially?
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Is It Proper To Reduce Your Age To Get a Job? by obyrich(m): 9:36pm On Feb 22, 2013
Pidivine: I've resolved to be self employed. Though still apply for jobs anyway. Pls when u guys become employers do not place the age hurdle.
My friend in deeper life just called and told me that his church refuse to join him in marriage because he is older than is fiancee by 10year. If he had lied he wouldn't have had issue. Why are we bent in frustrating the youth of this generation? Even in religious places age has also become a barrier.
Lwkmd. This is the greatest hypocrisy of all! Is this biblical or the wisdom of man? Soon they will have an Association of Frustrated Women in Deeper Life.
Celebrities › Re: Lest We Immortalize Nuisance …the “goldie” Situation. by obyrich(m): 9:22pm On Feb 22, 2013
freecocoa: All these questions you asked are useless and doesn't make sense as far as I'm concerned.

How would you know how many people she's helped?(widows and orphans alike). Again the issue of judging someone you don't entirely know comes to light, shey she is supposed to tell you personally before helping anyone? Please y'all should remove the log in your own eyes before trying to remove the speck in someone else's eyes.
Freecocoa, as a die-hard fan of Goldie, I think you'd have done her a lot of good by digging up answers to my questions if any exist rather than telling me they don't make sense to you. I never expected them to make sense to you and your likes. I still maintain my stand that many of our contemporary celebrities are doing more harm to our society than good and therefore should not be given state support. Tupac, Biggie, Snoop etc promoted gangsterism among our youths through their music and lifestyle. America is still reaping the fruit they sowed today. Goldie is a celebrity and her good works should go along with her name. Goldie to me is a desperate hustler who is ready to do anything to be at the top. That is not virtue. I dont blame you, afterall it is now a norm to award chieftaincy titles to people whose only achievement is that they are rich without them having a single outstanding project that benefits their community. I'll be a more loquacious fan of Goldie here if you can provide answers to my questions. What legacy did Goldie bequeath Ekiti people?
Celebrities › Re: Lest We Immortalize Nuisance …the “goldie” Situation. by obyrich(m): 11:26am On Feb 22, 2013
ayosmiles: Fame and success are goverened by the rule of demand nd supply and not morality. Btw, morality is subjective, u will always xplain morals from your point of view. If some pastors who do these so called lewd things in secret are celebrated for d good things they do in public, thn celibrities should be celebrated for every good thing they do in public despite some other acts that some people find immoral. Who are u to say something is immoral. Goldie deserves to be celebrated, she carved a nich for herself nd introduced new concepts. She is a peace ambassador and an advocate of nonviolence against women. Is that not good enough. At least she didnt steal or harm anybody. U ppl critizizing her, wht have u done for your society? If u dont like her its a personal thing, then look the other way
Listen to yourself- she did not harm anybody( millions of Nigerians dont) she was a peace Ambassador ( Did she volunteer her services to broker peace in the Niger Delta, in Potiskum or Jos?), she carved a niche for HERSELF( by peddling drugs abi?). She introduced new concepts( of celebrities keeping their marriage secret and deceiving their fans, abi?) She advocated nonviolence against women( was she outstanding in the advocacy?), she did not steal( how did you know. Do you steal?). So these are your bright testimonies of Goldie and why you think she should be immortalised and celebrated? How did Goldie add value to the life of Nigerians or Ekiti people to deserve the media hype? Goldie is dead and should remain so. Any attempt to make her appear like a national hero should be critisized. I'm yet to hear a single outstanding legacy she bequeathed the next generation of youths. Is Goldie the kind of role model you will recommend to your children? Only fools celebrate riches without asking how it was acquired. Learn to ask how, it doesnt hurt. Many of the so-called celebrities today are social miscreants and rascals with a clear mandate of promoting immorality. How many destitute youths in her community did she rehabilitate? How many aged people was she sustaining with her money? How many orphans were on her scholarship list? How many Jobless youths in her village did she empower financially? In what way did Goldie help the work of bringing good governance to Ekiti state? Still wondering.

Lol! I think that's a movie scene. The so called pastor's attire leaves much to be desired. However some prophets do worse. Some even go as far as bathing married women at road junctions in the midnight or even having carnal knowledge of them so as to make them conceive. Judgement day is coming.

stillwater: Exactly! What you sow you reap, abi? That is to say the men in these stories reaped, are reaping or will reap what they had sown!
So what are we all crying about?
Your conclusion sounds too simple too me. Let me make myself clearer, any woman who willfully dishonors the husband in the name of Woman liberation is sowing an evil seed in her life, which she MUST reap in the future. Your children whom you trained in a home where their father is treated like a worthless piece of rag will grow up to disrespect both the mum and the Dad. On the flip side, any man who maltreats and dishonors the wife should be ready to reap loneliness later on in his life. Husbands and wives are interdependent entities in marriage. Each needs the other person to have complete happiness. So don't give a biased interpretation to my submission, please.

Family › Re: The Wickedness Of Some Naija Women In London by obyrich(m): 12:25pm On Feb 15, 2013
All I know is that life is a choice. Whatever a man sows that he shall reap.Every woman needs a man, same applies to men. Nature cannot be cheated. Any woman who thinks that women liberation means to sit on top of her husband's head should be equally ready to enjoy the exalted status of single motherhood! Much as I vehemently oppose some men's over-dominance and inhumane treatment of women, I equally detest women who think that they have no place being submissive to their husbands. As a practising christian I believe that the bible is clear on the issues pertaining to the hierarchy of authority in the home. The truth is that in any family where the children disrespect their Dad, the mum should be held responsible: Children are the best copycats I've ever seen. Young mothers should be wary of how they treat their husbands in front of their children and vice versa. Respect is reciprocal. Men should learn to love their wives and treat them with dignity. If any woman cannot stay under a man, let her not marry. So long as culture dictates that men should propose, engage and eventually marry a woman and take her to his home or parents house, women should learn to be loyal to their husbands to be deemed as virtuous. We should also not offer the rich aspects of our cultures on the altar of enlightenment. The worst form of education is learning to turn off our ears to the voice of reason. Many parents today are busy chasing money and pleasures for their children thinking that money is all there is to guarantee their children's happiness. Many young people of nowadays are sadists. I foresee a serious social disorder for this Nation if parents don't sit-up and teach their children the right values and social etiquette.

fubbyy: I disagree and detest the man's attitude to the highest order, what if he visits, finds out that the guy is real then gave his daughter out and 2morrow something happened and the guy became poor, what will he do?

He acted as if he's selling his daughter which we don't do in igbo land

The daughter should be the one doing the findings not the man
The issue is not about how rich or poor the suitor is but how real his claims are. When you get your own children, marry them off to strangers or people with doubtful claims. Maybe the guy has made some out of the world claims that aroused the man's curiosity. Nigeria of nowadays is not the Nigeria our parents grew up in.Things have changed. The man did not fix a price tag on the daughter, at least the poster didn't say so. He just wanted to prove that their claim was real. Any well trained young man would know that such a man can be thorough in dealing with issues and would be happy if the girl possessed such attribute. Unless your friend has a skeleton in the cupboard, he should grant the man's wish or keep off.
