Our Universities were rated low because they do not have facilities. It is
out of place for any research to be carried out in a generator powered
University.

Real Nigerian student can survive this and do well with the obsolete theories
from our Unis. But i put it to you that most NIGERIAN students dont want to learn
they need the paper but not the knowledge.

It is disheartening to know that a (600) level extra year student studying
Fisheries mgt cannot inject fish, a skill that will allow companies to employ him
so tel me who to blame. The lecturers or the student?

Football is a game of great emotion that is why i am campaigning for life ban for the Cretin
called Thankgod who plays in the Nigeria for slapping a referee during a match. It may
interest you to know that most referees in Nigeria are professionals in their own right
and for just an ordinary player to slap a Medical doctor, Lawer, senior banker and Lecturer

To become a Prof in Nigeria you need 6yrs of serious full time study to get a PhD
And lecture in a University for 15yrs. that means that for 21yrs after your first
degree you have been reading and researching.

It takes so much to produce this expert and this Prof can only specialise in one
aspect of a course of study. In Fisheries mgt for instante we have 10 sub specialisation
GEJ is an espert in Fisheries and Hydrobiology while somebody like me is on Genetics
and Breeding

As a genetics I need to know how to collect the DNA of fish so that I can be able improve
the fish in terms of size and quality. No lab in Nigeria University has this facility, if I do not
know how, how will the student i am suppose to teach know.
It is a lose lose situation.
we are crying for lost of knowledge in our University and you want paper without skill

Another local chapter just vote to continue so ASSU is still on strike.

The piont is that in 2009 the FG promise ASSU increased funding
but uptil now they did nothing. Do you know that in the
negotiation they are putting it to ASSU as if they are the Father
xmas giving just little to the lap-dog, while GEJ is busy using 18 billion
for lubrication. and N2.1 million for facebook acct in the football house

I do sympathize with the students but men of moral
should know that graduating unskilled graduate is a crime to humanity
Graduating Enginers that do not know how to use current software to
design is a crime.
Graduating fisheries student that cannot use the wrs system to culture fish
is a crime.
How about computer enginers that Ikeja computer village boys can scorn
or An Automoblle Enginer that cannot change plug.
In those days at Ibadan once their is a power outage we will start counting
b4 the count of ten they will restore light now the Vc, Dean and Hod run on personel Gen SET.
Living the Lab and research with no electricity and to DIE.

It is true that some of the Prof are not trying but the fact still remain that we need them.
In some area of specialiazation in a department only one old Prof might be the expert and
the Prof who receive training abroad might not have train a young replacement becos
of lack of basic things like electricity, good Microscope and personel (TECHNICIAN).  Do
you know that retired lab technician are recalled into the system because the young
once cannot handle the basic equipment.
The story is that our graduates are not grounded in their area of specialization because
we do not have basic equipment and because all they want is to pass out. This Assu
strike will tend to address all this pressing issues. Our UNIVERSITIES are dieing and
people are busy stealing FG BLIND.

I pity your condition because you do not know what it takes to produce a Professor, your are so
abusive in your post and so much in a hurry to graduate with no employable skill. Our certificate
is look down on because of people like you who all that is important is the paper and not the
understanding of the subject matter. We operate a university system with no equipment for practical
demonstration, no chemicals and obsolate apparatus.

Nigerian graduate are unemployable because they lack the basic knowledge in their area of study
Assu can be selfish, but the fact remains that the University system is dieing. In those days at UI
every 100 level science student owe a cupboard containing stuff from Microscope to the basic but now
??
In the University we have few experts and they do not reproduce themselves untill it is almost too
late we need this expert to stay alittle bit to train the younger once so that we will not lose everything.
During the brain drain our best left and only a few remain this few are aging and we need them to reproduce
themselves or we will be all dooooomed.

I have ND from the best Agric college some of my friends go for HND and some of us go to universities. today we are their boss and we are able to use the ND experience in the field. please go to University .

It is  loose loose  afair for the student who will graduate with no knowledge and certificate they cannot defend. It is unfortunate that all what the student are thinking is graduating but it is very bad when they graduate without knowledge. The reason we have so much unemployment is because the universities produce student that lack knowledge of their subject matter. No Agric graduates want to practice even in small scale. Even the practical they regard as stress   HUNGER WILL SHOW US IN Nigerian

Today's  strike  will help tomorrow education. please bear with  Assu  quality education is important for development. It is time Nigerian  University produce man power that can manage our industries . Production of employable youth takes time and cost money.

it is not all about age at retirement .Assu is talking about funding it is wrong for a university not to have electricity to carry out research. I laugh in ibo when I see graduates of fisheries not able to inject fish talkless of culturing fish. This students only want to graduate and go. hating the cause and any concern lecturer. @Beaf In my village in Delta State 14 to 15 year old journ cult, smoke weed and refuse to
do any productive activities. Please do not say we do not have area boys in Delta state. I
cry every day because our youth are on the part of destruction. In an adjacent village during

As for the 18k wage the civil servant in DELTA state do not know anything about that infact the Gov increase tax by 300% a civil servant on level 8 step 3 pay 18k as tax.

A University professor pays 65-79k as tax and for the past two years no new project.


Let me inform you that out of the 36 states one can not mention 4 states that is paying 18k.

Please stop making us to suffer.
