Agriculture › Re: Must You Live In The City? Why Village Life Is Better!! by occfx: 6:07pm On Sep 19, 2023 |
FarmsFarmer: Must you live in the city?
Why can't you live in the village or small town with very low cost of living?
Must everyone live in the city?
Must everyone live in Lagos, Abuja, Portharcourt, etc?
Some people are living in the interior villages but they're so rich and financially stable that they can feed those in the city who pay house rents and all kinds of city bills that people in the village don't pay.
If things are not going well for you in the city, why can't you swallow your pride, move back to the village, secure your farmland and begin farming and see how God will bless you within a short time??
Stop wasting your life.
Start farming, it's very profitable and reliable. Far better than wasting all your life in the city because you want to belong or do what others are doing. Don't mind what people will say, but start farming to build a better future for yourself and your family.
I come in peace. Village life sweet pass but security no dey. I hate Lagos with passion... I just need a quiet secure environment with internet. I can do solar for electricity but security mennnnn...Nigeria is a zoo |

UKEMY: I am saddened by this needless killings by IPOB, I think it's high time the federal give them their country (5 south east) states and all Igbo's residing in any Nigerian Territory be repatriated to biafra and banned from Entering Nigerian Territory Who created the 5 states... It was just two states. Enugu Anambra and Ebonyi were one state... Imo, Abia were one. So it's only two states... But I think there was a country called Biafra before Nigeria scattered them. |

But they are Jews! LOL, the way of christ would not allow them survive in the midst of enemies and as sensible humans, they chose the religion that would not hurt another person and preserve them. Here in the zoo, something will not be working but as foolish beings we insist on it because, we were told by the whites that it's the only way. Example is religion, democracy, economics, education etc. Until we realize we are human beings, we will continue to live like animals in the zoo republic. |
Family › Re: Am I Being Unreasonable Or Is My Wife Selfish? by occfx: 10:32am On Sep 17, 2023 |
EkelediliBuhari: Let’s agree this is my story….
Pardon my long write up but I needed to get a perspective from a fresh eye/mind. I’m married for 3 years now with 2infants.
Am I overthinking or does my wife have other plans?
My dad is an established accountant with over 3 decades of experience at the highest level of his occupation in 2 multinationals. He is now retired and consults. Presently, he lives a day at a times cos he barely has plans for his firm (he is over 70 and doesn’t have anybody he’s training his my mom).
I have a good career earning almost a million monthly with side gigs that keeps me liquid (meeting all my family’s basic needs). Monthly upkeep of 200k mainly for feeding while I pay utilities and still bring out cash (no fixed amount) from time to time. Presently am setting up a firm for contracting and consultancy.
My wife is a caterer (she loves cooking and baking) whom I have supported over the years. She has gotten much better and I have invested in her business. Presently she has all the basic requirements for her work and she works from home. We live in a 4 bed and converted one to her studio (fully furnished - AC tables shelves etc).
Over the years I have encouraged her to focus on entrepreneurship. This will give her total control of her time. This way the kids get her attention while she handles business which I hope to one day retire into. I make sure she doesn’t contribute her personal funds to the home as I advise her to save for rain days. I have encouraged her to work closely with my dad to earn experience as they share same profession hopefully take over the firm in time while I groom mine for which she is the major shareholder (I’m not even a shareholder).
Overall, do not look for a 9-5 like me, let’s grow a business.
However, she applies for jobs here and there. Just this morning she woke up as early as 4:30am applying for a customer service position and had to wake me up to correct her cover note.
At this point I feel like giving up on her. I feel she just wants to have a paying Job for whatever reason. But I know know the downsides; no time for the kids, 40-80% of income goes on expenses, work stress, regrets - now you can’t quit because you have to prove you can do it.
Am I being unreasonable telling her not to work and focus on developing her business skills?
NB: I have never discouraged her in her business rather encouraged/ advised and funded.
Modified: for those insisting I let her be, how do we plan our future if we share separate visions?? When has working ever made anyone rich??
If she gets an IOC opportunity I’ll definitely support tho, but these are not the toes she’s applying for 100k -300k Humans always want what they don't have. She just want to feel classy in suite and cooperate wears. Possibly get admirers from other men. Family business is important for future and rainy days if she does not understand, get your siblings or someone you trust to come in and run it. Let her do whatever she wants at her own risk and expense. The problem with marriage is whatever the other party does wrongly must affect the other party. When she start working make sure she contributes to the welfare of the family |

This minute, he can be sweet as to buying you nice stuffs and the next minute he's extremely mad to the extent of smashing or burning that same thing in your very before. My Dad has smashed tv, expensive phone etc he bought for me and burnt my combat pants because he felt it had too many pockets and was meant for rogues. I am not anything like him. I don't even get angry. I snub. Now you may have a child who would come up tomorrow to say his father is too quiet to his liking... Lol. Like some of the posts I see |

Skyview01: While thinking and reminiscing, I am thinking of my childhood and growing up, as kids, whenever our fatger would come back from work, we would allwys all run out of the house through the backdoor at the sound of his car horn.
The biggest reason is immediately he is stepping in, he would start complaining about things not being in their right places. Chores not being done or improperly done, house not clean enough and he would always have something to complain about in an angry tone of voice.
I came to believe it was his own way of dealing with a stressful day at work and over time, it kinda created some tensions between us.
I told myself, no matter what, if I had my own family, no matter the stress I pass through during the day, i would never take it out on the kids or wife.
So whenever i come back from work and i see chores not done properly, my father's reaction would flash in my mind and i would take a deep breath and go the opposite directio , ask the kids and wife how their day went. and generaly chit chat about them without making them uncomfortable around me.
At the end, I might ask my son, "sweetheart, when are you going to wash the dishes? Even at the peak of a very stressful day, I would find a way to smile and go to my room in solitude.
Secondly, shouting at the children while correcting the. My dad as a true Nigerian man would yell at a high octave while correcting us and it frequently drives me crazy as a teenager.
With my kids and family, I practice a low even tone of voice while i am angry or making neccessary corrections. I find this to be very effective as it made the kids receptive and willing to change.
The results, kids are free with me and can discuss virtually everything in their lives with me.
So, what did you see your father do while growing up you were unhappy with and wanted to change in your own family. All those illiterate dads... I just don't know what's wrong with them |

Nice2023: In 2015,this milk was sold for 28k or less than because then,we used to share it among our colleagues, and it's either I buy this one below,Lactorich or Dano.
Mathematically,it is cheaper for me and my house than buying refill at #2,200 which may only last me one day or at most two days.
So,yesterday the one I bought in early March this year got finished and I and my wife decided to buy another one that would at least last for another 5months or thereabout.
The price of this milk is now #89,500 Dano that is locally produced is #87,000.
I can see why the poor has been relegated in Nigeria and their voices have been smashed and dimmed. Ask the man on the street about the economy,he would say,e go better as if has ever been better in this country.
If we don't put the right people in govt, the poor and the needy would continue to wallow in abject situations.
Naija my country. Some Agbadorians insisted they want to become teachers and lecturers in politics at the expense of good life and prosperity. They don't care about good governance as far as it's there tribe men. My happiness be say everybody go buy am the same 89k. |
