some of the things you listed here is only possible during school session.. Do you run bus during COVID-19?
Don't you carry out general repairs and maintenance works, plus the execution of some capital projects, during the holiday period ahead of a new academic term/session?

You know what, let's assume that most private schools have successfully received 80% of the school fees owed for the term by parents. Suddenly the lock down occurs in March, 2020. From April till date, not a single cent/kobo comes in as revenue, yet the schools have to pay for the following:
1) salary payments for the month of March, 2020
(2)Payments to vendors/contractors/suppliers
(3)TAXES
(4)loan repayment
(5)Payment of rent/lease (**not all cases)
(6)Maintenance costs (buildings, vehicles, power, water supply, etc)
(5) ICT cost
(6) Vehicle fueling cost
(7) COST OF POWER (NEPA, diesel, etc)

With all these, and absolutely no help from Federal or State govts, how do you expect these schools to still pay wages from April till date? Please do tell.

Sir/ma, I can say the inability to collect up to 90% fees by the school/proprietors in your locality shows the incompetent level of the school managers. Besides, you have said something about "family" in your opinion. With that alone, money may not enter as expected, but i tell you, these people lie alot, school business is a big cash in stuff.
Another thing is that the money used for salaries by these proprietors is very small compare to what they collect from their customers.
What a load of horse c#@p. Bros, you don't have a clue what it takes to run a private school and what private school owners go through. Mehn I laugh in Chinese...

But hey, whatever floats your boat.

I have an idea, but it might be wrong so I need your inputs.
Recently our troops have faced ambush whenever they're on patrol or coming back from a mission. I think the risk can be reduced by setting out a 5 man cell with a sniper fixed at strategic points along the road. This guys blend in well with the terrain and can get real time info on movement of hostile and also reduce ambush to a considerable amount. This guys are also in charge or getting real time info on movement of BHT hence FOBs would be notified before they come close to town.
These guys can be rotated let's say daily.
I don't know Borno, but let's say Maid-Damboa is 50km, we can get a cell positioned at strategic locations every 10km or 5km.
Since we don't have drone that can loiter 24/7 and even if we do, that'll be loads of info to go through daily, we can use this method.
This would require some kits let's say NVG, scope and some basic stuffs like that.
We can manage this pending when we can get enough drones and good mraps.
NB: sometimes IED still take out MRAPs
Why not adopt the same strategy used by both the Americans and Brits in Iraq? That is use technology. Use ISR birds (manned or unmanned/drones) to patrol the stretch of roads routinely. These aircrafts can detect terror cells planting IEDs or laying ambushes along the stretch of road, and then call in airstrikes to flush the vermins out. Equally invest in more MRAPs and Mine clearance vehicles, jammers, and more tools for EOD and Engineering Corp teams. I think that may be more effective than setting up OPs along the road using Special Forces teams that may be over stretched.

I work as a teacher or let me say worked and I've always remained with that notion that an average proprietor in Lagos is a fraud

Okay if you claim ,students didn't pay the concluding term before Coronavirus, what happened to previous fee?

Because, from calculation ,just a class or 2 classes at most can pay almost all teachers salary and still have change sef.

Or is it not this same school owners that will tell a teacher, you can't take just a subject, bombarding you with workload.

I'm tired of them jare.

Please check my profile for affordable sneakers and ladies shoes ( thrift and new)
What happened to the previous fee indeed? Let's see:
(1) salary payments for FOUR MONTHS
(2)Payments to vendors/contractors/suppliers
(3)TAXES
(4)loan repayment
(5)Payment of rent/lease (**not all cases)
(6)Maintenance costs (buildings, vehicles, power, water supply, etc)
(5) ICT cost
(6) Vehicle fueling cost
(7) COST OF POWER (NEPA, diesel, etc)

Should I continue?

I have said it before, 80% of business owners in Nigeria don't know jack about running a biz.

Just figure heads.

For schools, I don't know why it's so difficult running such a biz. I was close to my proprietor during my NYSC so I know running a school isn't as difficult as many school owners make it seem.

First thing for Pete's sake is to incorporate the biz. Please, separate running d school from d ownership.

Secondly, get a good Finance Officer (not just an Accountant). Add an Admin Officer, followed by a Principal or Head Master. Spell out duties and functions clearly.

Recruit teachers, and other staff.

If your biz doesn't progress per time then call me a fool.

But ignorance, greed, selfishness will never allow such owners do the right thing.

Running biz in Nigeria is tough, but like our government officials, most biz owners know jack.
Bros, you don't have a bloody clue about the difficulty faced in running a school. Non AT ALL.

Oga, i disagree totally with your opinion. These so called proprietors are just wicked. Most of the schools were writing exam before the lockdown, meaning that, payments already made. Besides, they collected for the whole term, Jan - April, but they decided to stop salary at Feb/March haba!!

The questions now are:

i. Won't they collect the money from parents, if they've not done so?
ii. Will they pay their staff the outstanding money after resumption?
iii. What have they been using the previous monies they collected for?

In conclusion, they are not to be blamed but our government that failed to formulate policies and follow up.
Correction: not all schools were writing exams. Some had about a week or 2 before exams. As a result of the lockdown in some states, most schools had to RUSH their exams so as to ensure that the children had to get home on time to their parents. So how did you expect the schools to get their fees, especially during national and global health crisis?

Again I'll say this. Teachers and staff should've gotten their full salaries for the month of March. BUT expecting schools to pay full salaries for April and May?? Haba! At that point, you should be talking of palliatives, not demanding salaries.
Education › Re: How Private School Owners Are Dubiously Cheating Their Teachers by ocelot2006(m): 4:04pm On Jul 18, 2020
March salary: definitely.
But April till date? Absolutely not.

Where do you expect the management of these schools to get the money from? Steal? Have you equally factored in the possibility that most schools haven't received their full revenue via full school fees payments as a number of them, if not all, encourage flexible payments from parents. Take out salaries, cost of maintenance/depreciation, payments to vendors/contractors/suppliers, TAXES, and in a considerable no of cases loan repayment, and there is little or NOTHING left for the proprietors for even more capital projects.

In a nutshell, before you heap the them on proprietors for all the covid-19 hardship faced by private school teachers, why not put yourself in the shoes of the former.

As a proprietor, is there any reason why you are not organising online classes for your students like many other private schools? I think you can make a little money through this, and also create a source of income for other teachers.

I also believe that individual teachers can also offer online classes to their students at home, especially those preparing for common entrance, JSSCE and WAEC/NECO. Even after COVID19, this can be a source of extra income for teachers. If funding for laptop, data, etc. is the issue, I think that is what teachers should ask for help for, and maybe use gofundme platform.

Asking for help just to feed is not really sustainable.
It's not that simple. Sure, online classes can be organized, but there are a few problems to address, especially with dwindling funds:

1)How do you sustain these classes? You need power for your labs, that means petrol or diesel for your powerplants. Sure, oil prices have dropped, but school mgt has to make payroll. Remember, dwindling funds as nothing comes in.

2)With the long lockdown period, how do these schools pay for basic utility services and even internet service? Remember, dwindling funds.

3)How do you reach children in rural areas and from less privileged back grounds. A considerable number of students come from well to do homes, but a few, especially those on scholarship in these private schools, are not so lucky. How do you reach this group of students/pupils?

Apologize for what? Is this some sort of joke. The brother has not TWO MONTHS. His action equally saved his family money. His wife ought to thank him, not chastise him. If she's not satisfied, then let her use her own money. Families are trying hard to survive, yet you want him to apologize. What a joke.

They did use the FN P90 and F2000 during YarAdua days.....then decided they were too finicky and didn't stop adequately.

So they went for IMI's Tavor and Galil, then Negev LMG finally.

IMI Jericho is their sidearm of choice.

If I'm correct, they operate all the personal weapons IMI makes.
The FN F2000 is still in use,and there have been pics of some DSS agents armed with the FN P90 during the Jonathan Era. The only fire arm i hardly see them use since the Obasanjo days is the Styre Aug assault rifle. But you're right about DSS and IWI made fire arms (Tavor CTAR-21s, Galil Ace, Negev LMG, and Jericho pistols), although i hardly see agents use the Galil Ace assault rifles compared to the Tavor.

An observation though: I don't know why NPF MOPOL squadrons, particularly those in hot zones, haven't adopted the Negev LMG like the DSS. These squadrons are meant to tackle insurgencies, so i think armed with only Type 56-2 assault rifles isn't fair at all.

It is almost 4AM my husband hasn’t come home yet, just because we found out that I am carrying another baby girl. I’m in pains. I don’t know what I have done to deserve all this .

Please help me beg God if I offended him unknowingly to please forgive me and blessed me with baby boys ( triplets). Please
I've been in the same situation. My wife and I had our first child, a beautiful daughter, a few years ago. Last year she took in again and we were hopeful our little girl would have a baby brother. A visit to the doctor proved otherwise. I still recall the moment my wife held up the pink comb. I wasn't happy. But I came around because I felt like an ingrate to God Almighty who had blessed us with this beautiful child. A few days later I walked into a chapel, knelt down, begged God forgiveness, and equally thanked Him.

The day my 2nd daughter came into this world was one of the very best days of my life. Now I look at my family and beam with so much pride and gratitude to God Almighty. A beautiful wife, and two very beautiful rug rats filled with so much energy. What's there not to love?

So relax. Your husband will come around. Just put him in your prayers.

OPERATIONAL CAPABILITY RECEIVES BOOST AS NAF PREPARES TO INDUCT SECOND BATCH OF 2 NEW AGUSTA 109 POWER HELICOPTERS

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) is set to induct the second batch of 2 new AgustaWestland 109 Power Attack Helicopters procured by the Federal Government as part of the fleet enhancement efforts to enable more effective and efficient employment of air power to tackle the security challenges facing the Nation. The 2 helicopters, along with associated equipment and spares, arrived Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport Abuja on board a Boeing 737-400 Cargolux Airline aircraft from Malpensa International Airport in Italy on 15 January 2020. They were received by a NAF Team, led by Air Commodore Halim Adebowale, as well as the Country Representative of Leonardo Helicopters, manufacturers of the aircraft. NAF engineers and technicians, in collaboration with a Team from Leonardo, have commenced assembly of the helicopters preparatory to their induction into service.

It would be recalled that the NAF had earlier received the first batch of 2 new Agusta 109 Power Helicopters that were inducted into the Service on 29 April 2019 during the 55th NAF Day Celebration in Abuja. The Service, within the last 5 years, has taken delivery of 21 brand new aircraft, including 10 Super Mushshak, 5 Mi-35M Helicopter Gunships, 2 Bell 412 Helicopters and 4 Agusta 109 Power Helicopters. Beside these, 15 additional aircraft have been ordered by the Federal Government, which include 12 Super Tucano attack aircraft and 3 JF-17 Thunder multi-role fighter aircraft. In addition, the Service also took over 11 aircraft from other MDAs. These include 3 EC-135 helicopters and 3 Dauphin helicopters from NNPC, 3 Donier 228 aircraft and 2 Agusta 101 from the Presidential Air Fleet (PAF); making an unprecedented total of 47 aircraft that have either been inducted into the NAF or ordered for the Service since 2015. In the same vein, over 20 previously grounded aircraft have been reactivated within the past 5 years. After induction, the 2 new helicopters will be deployed to theatres of operation across the country to reinforce NAF capability in the fight against insurgency and other forms of criminality.

This is not a case of murder, but manslaughter as the incident was clearly an accident. Iran at the time was on high alert, the plane flew over the airspace of a sensitive facility. Thinking that it was an incoming American air strike response to Iranian missile strike, the Iranian fired their SAMs and shot down the airline. At least they've owned up to this fatal mistake. Even the hardline IRGC have apologized.
