If you folks can vote in an incompetent & disastrous calamity like Buhari, then they can also vote an imbecilic t@#t like Ikpeazu. |

jakeporeshenko: That’s why I said it’s misleading, saying AFSF is Belarusian or Pakistan- trained makes sense, same for saying SBS is Nigerian British and American trained because these units were trained and fashioned after units from those countries. Saying 72 sf battalion is south African trained is just not accurate. So what exactly was STTeP's role in Nigeria? Why were they embedded with 72nd MSF? |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by ocelot2006(m): 9:14pm On Apr 26, 2019 |
jakeporeshenko: This is quite misleading.
Eben Barlow’s team was embedded with them and they had their own air arm hence “mobile stroke force”, 72 special forces battalion Makurdi comes from 72 paratroopers battalion and according to wiki that unit has been there since 2001.
Eben Barlow came to Nigeria in 2015/15 and you’re making it sound like he founded the unit. Care to point out in any of my posts were I said that Eeben Barlow founded 72nd MSF? And yes I'm aware of 72nd Airborne Battalion's renaming to 72nd Special Forces Battalion. And i'm equally aware of STTeP's air arm in Nigeria at the time with their UH-1 Heuy and Gazelle helicopters. The focus is on the Army's 72nd MSF. BTW the fact that Eeben's STTeP team were embedded with the 72nd MSF doesn't mean that they were never involved in training that unit. As a matter of fact, such situations presents an ideal opportunity for such team to train the host's military unit. Same way, the US Military SF ODA teams embed themselves with local military groups across the globe. |

As for the SBS, they are the fathers of Nigeria's Special Operations and should rightly be proud. I may not really say "fathers", but they do look mean. Frankly if I were to place them in tiers, I'll place them in Tier 1 in SOCOM. It's no wonder the British SBS partnered with them years ago. |

joshingjosh: Can someone help me out here
The Army Special Forces includes; 1)72MSF 2) AHSG 3) SFS (The buni yandi own...hope am correct with about it) 4) Rangers
That of NAF Includes; 1) NAF Regiment 2) The Panthers
And NN is Only The SBS...(Unless there is another)
Questions; 1) does it mean that the SBS is the only special forces that the Navy has? If No, which other one? 2) This special forces are they All Battalions?? like NAF Panthers Battalions and 72MSF Battalion? 3) When training members of this SFS, Do they advertise it? Like Can a Soldier of NN apply for Naf Panthers or 72MSF?
NAF Regiment is not a Special Forces unit. Rather it's a branch of NAF responsible for base protection, just like its contemporaries in the UK, Australia, India, etc. I think the Panthers may be the actual Special Forces arm of NAF. Yep, the SBS is the only Special Operations unit of the Navy. Frankly I think they're the best. The Army's Special Ops groups are the most confusing. A question though: are the South African trained 72nd MSF still active? And I thought we were unable to raise the Ranger Battalion because of the rift between Nigeria and the USA after US Army instructors from one of the Special Forces ODAs were kicked out during the GEJ administration |

Meanwhile, following the horrible attack in Nasarawa State, here is an update as captured by CHANNELS TV...
Please Read:
''NASARAWA ATTACK: ARMY VOWS TO TRACK DOWN PERPETRATORS''
The Nigerian Army has vowed to arrest perpetrators of Sunday’s attack on Numa Kochu village in Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
In its Operation Whirl Stroke covering Benue, Nasarawa and Taraba states, troops have been directed to work with other security agencies in the state.
Addressing journalists in Lafia, Commander of the Operation, Major General Adeyemi Yekini, renewed the military’s commitment in restoring peace.
“We don’t really have troops there at Akwanga as we speak but there are other security forces on the ground there.
“What we have done is to be collaborating with them. I have directed my troops to move to Akwanga and join other security forces to track down the perpetrators of this crisis, let us apprehend them so that justice can be done,” he stated.
According to him, the military has carried out nine major successful operations Obi, Doma, Toto and Awe local government areas of the state.
Yekini explained that 37 assorted weapons including a clarion 5.56 Israeli commando assault rifle, 389 ammunition, 1 grenade and local charms were recovered from the attackers during the operation.
While noting that a number of persons were killed, he, however, stated that 11 persons were arrested and others at large.
Although the Commander didn’t disclose the number of dead persons, he vowed to trail those bandits said to be on the run.
Meanwhile, the local vigilantes have arrested three persons in connection with the recent attack.
An elder from the area who craved anonymity told Channels Television via telephone said the persons attacked the village shooting sporadically in air, and when chased by the locals they ran into the forest and hid their weapons.
He added that upon their arrest, they were to the police station in Akwanga.
“I got a call from the community after the incident when I got there. The persons were already arrested by the people of the community. They told me they came and were shooting guns.
“Immediately they saw the people they started running to the bush. The people pursued them and caught them there. Now we are trying to see if we can go into the bush to get their guns.
“They are three in numbers and they are not Fulanis, they are our brothers. Their names are Blani Zaman Gbugar, Garba Musa Amos and Ridan Labari,” he stated. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is such a sad incident but its good to know something is being done.

Ryabcool: or else what will happen? You wan do pass Nnamdi Kanu? Where is he today? He no run? See, your mouth and boasts is your problem.
Learn the art of diplomacy and dialogue and it will go a long way to help your folk. You don't have to like anyone, but you have to respect them and not be averse to seeking peace first.
Chest beating and needless braggadocio will only earn you enemies when you should be building alliances instead. It's funny you talk about "diplomacy and dialogue"? Has your leader ever shown any form of diplomacy? Has he ever reached out to the South East, regardless of their political affiliation, in order to unify the nation and buy the Igbos over? Have you forgotten the "97%-5%" speech in the United States during buhari's first tenure? And what have the Igbos, or the south as a whole, gained under Buahri's watch apart from marginalization of the Igbos, and nepostim plus tribalism? like i earlier mentioned, heaven will not fall if the Igbos gain nothing from Buhari. |

invincible007: Sir, which unit in the police is TRYING to do Army work? I now sèe police using GPMG, are there not over doing things? Well, all for the security of Motherland Nigeria. Let them do/use it well. In my opinion it is loooong overdue. Branches like MOPOL equally operate in dangerous areas like Borno and Yobe. How do we expect cops armed with only Type 56-2s to face off an enemy armed to the teeth with HMGs, RPGs, etc? Hell, even the DSS arms some of its agents with IWI Negev LMGs, so why not the Police. Keep in mind that the MOPOL isn't the first Police branch to use machine guns. In the past it was reserved for the Marine Police branch who armed their patrol boats with GPMGs and HMGs. |

nairavsdollars: In the history of Lagos politics, no politician has ran a divisive, ethnic-based and tribalistic campaign like Jimi Agbaje, governorship candidate of the PDP.
When Jimi Agbaje contested the 2007 governorship election under the defunct Democratic Peoples Allliance (DPA), he ran a very robust, issue-based campaign which was acceptable to all Lagosians.
Fast forward to 2015, Jimi Agbaje began a campaign of calumny which seeks to knock the heads of Yorubas living in Lagos against non-indigenes, especially our Igbo brothers from South- East. His promise to elevate Eze Ndigbo to the status of Oba of Lagos greatly angered Oba Rilwan Akiolu, making him to utter the notorious 'perish in the Lagoon' comment?
Now Agbaje as the PDP governorship candidate is running the same campaign again which has pitched Igbos living in Lagos against Yoruba. We say enough is enough.
Yeyesewa of Lagos This post represent the worst of our politics as it intends to stirr up ethnic tensions in a state while at the same time push most Yorubas in Lagos state against the candidate if the main opposition party in the state. Simply pathetic. |
Politics › Re: Why Is Jimi Agbaje Always Playing The Politics Of Tribalism In Lagos? by ocelot2006(m): 10:25am On Mar 07, 2019 |
allthingsgood: what then does it mean shey na only igbos de lagos or igbos are more special than other tribes Are Igbos not also residents of Lagos? Must he only appeal to Yoruba voters only OR appeal to everyone for votes? Keep in mind that Lagos is basically a microcosm of the Federal Republic of Nigeria with people of different tribes who call it home. If anything it is commendable that he is reaching out to other tribes. That shows a man who believes in unity. |
