FORMER presiding and principal officers of the House of Representatives, on Tuesday, maintained that no party should toy with the independence of the legislature and consequently, urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) to accept the emergence of Honourable Yakubu Dogara and Lasun Yusuf as Speaker and Deputy Speaker, respectively.
A former speaker and current member of APC Board of Trustees, Honourable Umar Ghali Na’aba, who spoke on behalf of the former presiding officers, during a courtesy call to the new leaders of the House, said independence of the legislature, all over the world, is sacrosanct.
The delegation of the former presiding officers was led by Honourable Na'aba, with Honourables Agunwa Anakwe, Olubunmi Etteh and the governor of Sokoto State, who is the immediate past Speaker, Honourable Aminu Tambuwal, in attendance.
According to Honourable Na’aba, “lawmakers, on Tuesday, achieved another democratic revolution against a conventional wisdom of imposition of leaders by political parties.”
He added that “this has happened not to spite our party, but that the legislature, under a democratic setting, must be independent.
“What happened on Tuesday was an effort by lawmakers of both the APC and the PDP to ensure their independence as lawmakers.”
To this end, he said “whatever must have happened, the new leadership must not be castigated and scorned, but should be seen as a means of charting a new legislative course for the benefit of all Nigerians.”
On what the new leaders should do, he said “we believe that the constitution needs to be amended, and this was done by the last assembly but never saw the light of day. This assembly must take up that responsibility to revisit the issue of constitution amendment.”
Speaking further, he said “what we need now is reconciliation, because the House, as it is now, is divided. I believe the process should not be difficult.”
Responding, Honourable Dogara said his victory was a miracle, which could not have come without their prayers and support, stressing that “I want to assure you that this leadership will not disappoint.”
He further stated that “we want to reach out to the executive as quickly as possible and to the party as well. We realise that as responsible leaders, we have to compliment the efforts of government.”
He also promised to heal the wounds and division created by the politics of speakership race in the House, adding that “we will come together and mend walls, because some people may feel that they have lost.
“I want to tell them that they have not lost anything, as this remains a leadership that is for all.”

International : this is his greatest Failure G7 does not add value to Nigeria by right Nigeria is a member of G7 as the country with the biggest economy in Africa  so attending as an Invitee is an insult!

Moreover, When you calculate the FDI from all the G7 countries it's less than 10 % of what China has invested in Nigeria.  
His romance with the wrong People has led to china's refusal to buy our oil due to the snub! 

Buhari's only achievements so far is

Several lackeys of the National leader of the APC have been calling for disciplinary actions against the National assembly leaders that emerged yesterday.

While such call were not unexpected considering the humiliation they suffered yesterday ,it is  the hypocritical nature of those making these calls and the Leaders of the All Progressives confidence ( sorry ) Congress that is increasingly becoming nauseating.

The tendency of these people to always  shift the goal post each time the are placed on the "Barometer" is the reason so many Nigerians have began to question their sincerity and ability to deliver on their pre-election Promises.

Senator Dino Melaye (APC, Kogi West) whose “Like Minds Group” stood behind Bukola Saraki until he was crowned Senate President, has said his party’s comments on the process that threw up principal officers on the floor of parliament were unfortunate.

The APC had described lawmakers on its books as “treacherous, disloyal and undisciplined”, but Melaye says lawmakers only followed extant and senate laws to elect its members.

“It’s treacherous for anyone to refer to what we did as treachery”, Melaye told Channels News at Ten. He said the Senators made sure they followed constitutional provisions to the letter.

“I don’t know where indiscipline comes in”, he wondered, while adding that it was queer that the party was thinking of disciplining its members for doing the right thing.

“It was a contest and a winner and loser were bound to emerge in the end. The law makes it clear that you can only elect principal officers on the floor of the house, which is what we did. Any other action would have been unconstitutional”, he said.

‎Femi Gbajabiamila may have tasted the bitter Pill he fed the PDP in 2011.

As Leader of the then ACN Femi did all the ground work that led subversion of the will of the then PDP  and the emergence of Tambuwal al as speaker by a wide  margin of 250 to 90.

Tambuwal Was Made Speaker By House Members Not PDP – Gbajabiamilla 

The Nigerian House of Representatives Minority Leader, Femi Gbajabiamila, has dismissed the Peoples Democratic Party’s demand that the Speaker of the House, Aminu Tambuwal, who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday should do the needful, saying it is a threat that bears no consequence on the speaker.


 
Mr Gbajabiamila stressed that the Speaker was elected by the members of the House across all the political parties and not just the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members.

But for Mr Gbajabiamila, the demand by PDP is an empty threat that the speaker is not expected to obey, since he, Tambuwal had not enjoyed the support of the PDP right from the day he was picked as the speaker in deviance to PDP’s choice of candidate.

Following his Win by a slim margin  Hon Yakubu Dogara stalled the election of deputy speaker while he consulted with his colleagues on the possibility of nominating the Deputy speaker without elections to avoid bickering.

Despite the Nomination of Hon Lasun and Munguno both APC, Dogara sought  to reach a compromise by conceding the deputy speakership to Femi.

However, Femi declined politely telling the speaker he rather comply with party directives.

2. Alhaji Ahmed Lawan

Strength : has Been a Member of the National assembly since 1999 first as a member of the House of Representatives and now a 3 term Senator with lots of experience , He holds a doctorate degree in Remote sensing/GIS and has the Backing of majority of his party Leaders including Tinubu and Buhari as well as the CPC and ANPP components of the APC.
In the Sixth Senate, he served as: Chairman, Senate Committee on Public Accounts; Member, Constitutional Review Committee.

Weakness : The absence of any tangible contribution/Bill  to show for the 16 years spent at the National assembly is his greatest weakness , although he is seen as been relatively un tainted by corruption.
The decision of his party leaders to use the party’s NWC against his opponent might boomerang if senators choose to assert their independence.

The fraud is complete with full disclaimer at the end of the mail to paint it as genuine! Clicking on it redirects you to your account where your password will be stolen!

If you have fallen for this Fraud quickly report to your bank / stock broker immediately. better still change your password before you get to the Bank/broker !

Before the swearing in of General Mohammadu Buhari the expectations of Nigerians was high.

However, if the actions of the last 5 days is anything to go by then Nigerians must unfortunately begin the search for new Moses.
