First off , it's eagle spirit not evil spirit.
2nd,for a Camry of same year. It's cheaper to maintain... The only thing that may cost more is the engine & gearbox... But comparing both 2010 camry & accord, the accord's engine is definitely cheaper.

Please never you compare big daddy & civic... Instead of you to buy big daddy, get an eagle spirit (2008 to 2012 accord) if you feel the civic will be too small(which i doubt, except you are huge & not just tall). I'd have suggested 2011 Camry over the big daddy but owing to the budget you have, the eagle spirit & civic of same year are better options, die the thought of big daddy. The 2011 Camry is expensive now

I have a Honda Civic 2008. for over a year now I sometimes tend to hear a rattle noise coming from the engine side while accelerating specifically at low rpm towards 2000rpm when about shifting into second gear. There's no engine stall or power loss. I use fully synthetic oil 5w20 oil only. No CEL, several mechanic have checked and said the engine is fine nothing is wrong, I'm just confused. This does not happen in neutral or park but only while driving and when it engine is warmed up, especially when the thermostat is fully open at 98 degrees celsius and the fans come on, I use my scanner to monitor this vital. I have replaced the thermostat, changed coolant, flush radiator etc (I use Honda 50/50 type 2 coolant).


Since this only happens when driving, its difficult to pin point the exact location of the problem.
One time i tried draining all the fuel in the system and refilling with fuel from a different filling station. I noticed i wasn't hearing the noise anymore for a while until one day. I have tried octane booster, injector cleaners even cleaned it the injectors and the entire fuel system.

One mech said it might be a tiny leak from to top gasket, that it might be internal heat, since this only happens when its fully warmed up. I'm just confused. There is no coolant leak or anything, no smoking, engine is still quiet and sound.

P.S The rattle noise sounds like a car that's overheating and the gas pedal is pressed, but this car is not over heating(temp gauge never gets to the middle). I noticed using AC helps to reduce the chances of the rattle since the temperature hardly exceed 78 degrees celsius when the AC is on.

If I'm to describe the sound thoroughly I would say it sounds this way "ggrrrrr". Just for a short period of time ,1 -2 seconds and only happens when I step on the gas pedal at low rpm


Please I need help and suggestions, any one experienced something similar ? Thanks and sorry for the long write up.

It's a factory fault. It doesn't affect engine performance, I've heard one or two people complain such though... 06 to 08 civic experience it

Im going for the full...minimum of 8hrs per day, is it advisable to go for Dc 2007 or I should just forget anything about accord.

It's not a biggie if everything is sound... But once o2 sensors get bad, forget fuel economy... I used my EOD for Uber regularly, fuel economy is ok but don't compare it to Corolla.....

You can aswell go for civic but EOD isn't bad too....if you are like me that don't really like small cars then DC or EOD is still good since you said luxury & UBER

If you notice it on a leg in particular, as in, clearance between the tire and the tire well is lower than the others, it's possible your shock absorber needs replacement. Some shock absorbers do compress and won't go up again once it's weak. You can confirm this by removing the tyre of the side you claim is lower and observe to see if there's oil spillage around the shock surrounding. But if there's no oil it's possible the shock was gassed

2003 honda accord delays to move when engaged in "D". Even when it finally moves it disengages on motion, i have to rev the car high before it picks up again, and it doesn't switch to gear 2. I have replaced gear oil & filter due to this, still no change. I cleaned out the "solenoid sensor" beside the gearbox and samething still happens. Anytime it delays in moving when i shift to D the green light near D starts blinking with check engine light. I scanned and it showed "shift solenoid A valve stuck open" sometimes it's "shift solenoid B valve stuck opened". It just dangles between both and if i off the car and on it again the blinking stops and check engine goes off but comes back after a while

I met several gear mechanics,they tell me the gearbox is gone,i should go get another gearbox or rebuild the one on it, even without scanning. I personally don't feel it's true and from research i have been making, some people still experience such even after replacing the gearbox.

Please anyone who had experienced this before and how did you get it resolved because car has been resting since before Christmas.

Hello guys,

Pls I drive a civic 2006. For a while now have been having this reoccuring issue on the car. The car is always idling at over 1500rps. And when i put it on drive it start speeding up immediately even without stepping on gas. It runs so fast that i mostly use break to move within town.

The second issue is whenever the engine is hot, the car wont accelerate as it should, even if i pressed the throttle to the last it only climbs slowly. This is even worse on a hill. It is so bad that if i dont approach the hill with a higher speed, it will stall while climbing. I took it to my mechanic and was asked to replace the fuel pump and injector mouth. Both of these parts cost me 22k.

After replacing both parts, the problems still persist. I took the car for scanning and after the guy was done, the idlung dropped to below 1000rvs..i think its around 800 to 900rvs now. Which is abit beta. But for the second issue(lack of accelerating when engine is hot), the problem seem to have changed since the scanning. What i now observe is that, it fires as it should, and moves as a normal car should, but occasionally, when i start the car, the firing fails. But when i off and on again it picks, unlike the former case where it doesnt pickup when i off and on. Formerly I wont pick untill the car is cold, but now it picks up once i off and switch on immediately, weda engine is cold or hot.

Please anyone with an idea of what is doing my car and how to parmanently fix it? I have spend over 30k just on this issue this past weeks; money that should have gone towards xmas celebrations oo.

Scan your car if there's a trouble code. But from your explanation, I'm suspecting your IDACV(idle air control valve) is faulty. Hence the high revs and not stabilizing. Normally during a cold start up, your car runs in open loop to attain the needed temperature for the engine to run smoothly so after a while it's supposed to normalise to close loop and rev comes down. So if it doesn't due to a bad idacv it can be done manually by blocking one of the valves (not advisable, because your car can either be underpowered or overpowered because the slow running will need to be adjusted manually) The IDACV is usually located underneath your throttle body, REPLACE if it's faulty, it'll cause all this things you are experiencing, So visit YouTube for more information.

Shift solenoid is bad or dirty.

Replace or clean.

Also when last did you change your oil?

If i turn my ACCORD 2OO3 to ignition the fan starts working automatically.
I bought the car Naija used and that's how it's been working. No overheating.
